I've tried everything. I've been at it for about 4 hours and i can't figure out why my epic wont mount to my computer anymore. I've reinstalled samsung device drivers, both old and new, i've switched data cables, i've switched USb debugging on/off, i've used different usb ports, i've let it sit overnight without the battery, i've used the dialer code ##8778# to make sure i have it as PDA. None of these work.
I wish i could ODIN back to stock, but without the ability of my pc to recognize my epic, there is not point. ODIN won't recognize it in download mode.
So i'm stuck with ACS bamboozle. not that its a bad rom, but its kinda buggy and i've lost the ability to mount my epic.
any help would be appreciated.
thanks
Why not just flash a new rom through cwm? Then your usb might work on the new one lol..... think cwm before having the smallest thought about odin.......
Have you tried putting you USB on debugging, connecting to computer, try to connect, go into control panel>system>device manager and see what is connecting under USB or Other. It may be Samsung Android....click that and choose update drivers, then pick from Windows Update and leave it alone while it finds all the drivers. Will take a long time. That's how I fixed it on my laptop.

If i want to flash a modem, I need ODIN.
Can I flash stock EC05 through cwm even after Bamboozle? Im thinking it will work, but it won't return me back to stock.

Yup, tried that. It says "Unknown Device" in my device manager. When i try to update it, it says that i have the latest drivers for it already.
The drivers are definitely your issue then. Uninstall the drivers then try the same method. Otherwise download the drivers and reinstall if it won't let you search for updated drivers.

Usually after I can't connect to the computer after flashing a new rom I can flash a rom that i know worked with my pc and then my computer will recognize the phone again so then I can use odin but that's just me..... I know alot of roms that wouldn't connect through the usb.....
I've downloaded 3 versions of the samsung mobile device drivers. I've uninstalled and reinstalled all of them, individually.
Nothing works.
FLASH A DIFFERENT ROM IN CWM!!!!!!! :/ reason stated in my above post jeez
I did flash a different rom.
I flashed RandomRom's "Egret" and it still didn't recognize it.
I've flashed 5 different roms. All with complete wipes of sd card and factory reset.
I cannot get my phone to mount to my computer, therefor i cannot get to ODIN.
This all happpened after i flashed gingerbread leak. wtf.

Do what I said earlier and let Windows Update search for drivers.
What about flashing the ReRFS ROM that brings you back to stock? Also, I know its basic, did you reboot your PC after re-installing the drivers?

Tried that. It just says that windows has determined the best drivers are already installed.

Yup, tried the ReRFS rom as well and it still says, "USB not recognized."
I even tried it on two other computers, and its the same. There is something def. wrong with my phone.

There doesn't appear to be any physical damage and it charges just fine.

I already tried flashing several different roms. None work.
Mass storage still works? If so, uninstall the drivers, put USB debugging on, try to connect to the computer and let it find the drivers all over again. There should be 5 drivers it loads.
mass storage doesn't work either.
To start things off, let me just say that I just installed the stock eh17 rom and put the AIO mod on top of it and this is the best looking and most stable that my phone has been since making the leap to gingerbread. However....the AIO mod wiped out CWM recovery for some reason and reverted me to stock. As far as I can tell I'm still rooted, I did the terminal test, I have SU, and wireless tether for root users which works fine....but no CWM.
Now I know most would say just odin it back but here in lies my second problem which probably deserves a thread of its own but ties in with this one. My pc just up and stopped recognizing my epic. I have 3 different cables two crap samsung and a better one, none of which work in ANY of my ports. I just odin'd EH06 like a week ago, but still I have tried updating my drivers with no avail. My device manager does not recognize or list my android device at all, I have uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them, I have rebooted both devices several times and still get nothin. The only thing that I remember chaning between when it worked and when it didn't was I flashed an ext4 rom...could that be it? I've tried going back and it still doesn't work....
Anywa...deep breath...my main question is, is there a way to get CWM back on a rooted, deodexed, supuer user granted phone? Or am I screwed in that department? I guess on the bright side if I can't mod my phone anymore, at least its stable and looks good.....

Sometimes you can have 2 recoveries at one time. Have you tried 3 finger boot and rom manager to get into recovery?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Just run one click root again
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
So what do you get when you three finger into recovery? Stock recovery?
I get stock recovery and I have tried rom manager to no avail.....I also tried downloading it and running it as a update zip but it said the signatures were bad...

Yeah, you can only use signed update.zips. If no computer recognizes your phone then nothing will get CWM recovery back on. ADB needs to see your phone. if you have done the whole different cables, different ports, new drivers thing then you are mostly screwed. There is an EH17 Update.zip in development you can try.

Well crap....until this point I thought it might not be too bad...I love the setup I have now and I haven't had a reboot or FC in 24 hours time...that is, until I tried to edit my contacts...they're not there!! Not just my conacts, the whole contacts app!! This really sucks...

Hey, try running the Samsung 1.3.08 driver pack in XP Service Pack 3 Compatibility Mode (via Rclick>Properties over the msi or exe file in Win7). Once installed just close. Then go to the [Guide] [Recovery] [Heimdall] Clockwork Mod 3.1.0.1 Purple Heimdall Epic thread here in Epic Android Development section.. Down and install Heimdall and run the driver pack (you may have to run PDANet as well). This is only the only way I can get reconnected in DL mode once my drivers go bat-****, which for some reason they do about every 6 weeks.
And after Heimdall recognizes your Epic, you can just shut it down and use Odin for your tar-balling fix if that is your fancy because after that Odin will COM your Epic again as well.
PM me if you need help on this, I am up till 2am most nights
If you are still on GB, only flash the recovery. Otherwise you are safe to flah kernel as well.
As far as all the driver crap
Heimdall has it's own driver pack to install. And is more robust. You will be able to install just the recovery this way. I used it to swap out Bonsai recovery with CWM 3.1.0.1.
I've read through all the forums and they all dont have my problems. I've used all different usb cords, different ports and uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and nothing works... My phone (Epic 4G) wont even go into usb debugging mode at all...
If anyone else had this problem and fixed it please let me know I am a Tech Consultant and none of this crap seems to be working at all... I have a lot of experience with the Epic 4G, all HTC phones and Samsung phones... But none had this problems I need someone with a lot of experience to help me out...
I want to root but doesnt go into usb debugging ever since I went back to stock... I had CM9 alpha3 and it worked perfect but my gf wanted it back to stock and now it doesnt read... PLEASE HELP ME!!!
Thanks,
Bernard
May have been a bad Odin flash. Or a bad tar file. I would download the EL30 tar fresh and re-Odin it. Then check it.

Reinstall drivers? Unistalled any other samsung drivers? Use an htc cable or blackberry? Use proper drivers... on xda search samsung mobile drivers and find the MS 32 bit and 64 bit thread and download those and install them? Clean out the usb port...?

I've had the same problem since i got CyanMod 10, on the stock 2.3 it worked though :/
Rooted with stock el29 a while back. usb port seems unusable. have tried numerous cables. installed and uninstalled drivers countless times. Would like to get cwm5 flashed to phone but cant seem to figure out how without odin. Flash image gui doesnt support the 4g touch. is there any other options?
Try mobile Odin, almost the same as the PC version or look for the el26 kernel zip on the wiki

Thanx Cricket Droid mobile odin looks good. Does anyone have a good link to the rogue hitman 1.5(zip) or can I use the tar with mobile odin?
It charges fine. cant get a windows pc or linux to recognize it. I think some water got on it at some point. Never been able to figure it out.
Thanks guys. Mobile odin worked great, got hitman on there with cwm touch. Works great so far.
Your welcome, good to hear you got it working

I went back to stock rooted EL29...when i try to mobile odin to anything, the phone boots and hangs on sgII screen...
Anyone seen this before? Any suggestions to resolve? Trying to avoid ICS and my 6 hour battery life, but I'd like some flexibility...
What rom and kernel combo are you using? If both your rom and kernel are based on the same android os (gingerbread, ics, jelly bean) it should boot. If you have an ics rom with a gb kernel it won't boot. If you have a safe recovery installed try mounting usb storage and transferring a rom to your sd card to flash again...otherwise just do an odin oc that'll sort you out.

For the past few days my phone has been unable to connect to my computer. I tried uninstalling and re-installing drivers however that did not work so finally decided to try installing a new kernel using mobile odin - thinking maybe it was a problem with the other kernel. Well that didn't work either and now my phone can boot into odin mode and CWM v5.0.2.7 but it cannot flash a new ROM or connect to my PC. When trying to flash a new ROM it throws an error (status 7) which from the code appears to mean my phone doesn't realize that it's a sph-d710... I should also mention that when attempting to mount USB storage (both before and after the 'new' kernel) it just takes me to a screen that gives me an "unmount" option (which doesn't seem to do anything). Does anybody have any advice or should I just give in and pay the $100 for a new phone?

No. I can boot into Odin but my computer still doesn't recognize the device. I've also tried using different cables and USB ports (just in case).

Yes, I have tried on another PC as well as a MAC. I have flashed other ROM's before - my recent cycle is:
GB27 -> Wild for the Night -> ReVolt
The problem began after flashing Wild for the Night. At first I thought it was just that ROM so I tried others. While on Wild for the Night, my PC would still recognize the device, I just couldn't access the internal SD; it wasn't until flashing ReVolt that my PC wouldn't recognize the device. I think what I did was flashed GB27 (thinking it was a gingerbread build) before flashing Wild for the Night and that may be what caused the issue.
ReVolt was the last ROM I was running before putting a different kernel on it - which is why it won't boot now (it just goes straight into CWM).
