I use MyBackup because it can back up *.apk files and their associated data.
Titanium backup
http://matrixrewriter.com/android/
The only backup app you will ever need
ROM manager backs up and restores everything for me when I switch from rom to rom. Just set up everything once while on each rom and create a backup for each to restore to. I also us Titanium backup to backup my apps but you don't need it if you just want to restore your settings and apps as you saved it in rom manager.
Hey Guys,
Thanks for all the great work, my phone loves the new ROMs. Just a quick noob question. I have installed cyanogenmod 6.13 and android revolution 2.04 on my phone. after installing each ROM I restored my apps and settings to that the ROM was as I liked it, i then backed up the ROM (including wipe with ROM manager) before installing the other. I now have two ROMs that i'm am trying out, both of which have all of my apps and settings already loaded.
My question is if I want to switch between each backed up ROM (by restoring), do I need to first load the original ROM with a wipe and then restore the backup on top of tihs? Or can i just restore for example my backed up cyanogenmod ROM with my settings if I have been running android revolution? If I don't have to install the original ROM before restoring, do I need to do a wipe anyway and if yes how?
Thanks for all your help, keep up the great work!
I installed cm10 did not like it so i restored to my stock rom which i had a back up of in CWM. Stock samsung restored fine but i try to go into CWM and it is not there anymore and goes into stock recovery mod. Did CWM get deleted and do I have to reinstall CWM ?
Thanks !
Stock ROM = stock recovery...wonder if u lost ROOT as well?
if so Root and re-install CWM or TWRP.
I have my stock ROM backed up also, been thinking of going back to ICS for a bit and trying to find a rooted,de-bloated stock Rogers ROM in flashable ZIP format so I dont have to do the whole process again lol....no luck yet
Joe.
hello !
i have a simple question ...
when we are on Custom rom (CM for example ) , how can i restore "cleanly" a stock rom (rooted + CWM + own datas) that we have done a full backup of this one previously ,before flashing a custom rom ??? ( as if nothing had happened !... to find rooted/cwm stock rom with all datas and parameters ...as before)
what is the good "clean" procedure for not have problems ?

Try downloading and flashing the specific sock FW from samsung-updates. Then flash it with Odin.
Actually the KIES software has a repair feature that does it for you. It worked for me, but I am not sure if it would work for anyone else.
thank fo answer
but i just want to know the good way for to restore a backup of a stock rom that i have made with ClockWorkMod previously ...how can i restore it properly ?
with CM installed ,a simply wipe cache + data ...and then "restore" the stock rom is good ?
or we have to reflash the stock rom via Odin ,and then reflash serranoltexx CWM ...and then "restore" the previous backup (made before flashing custom rom ) ...it's looong !
...no answer ? :crying:
im currently using cm12 since its buggy i want to switch back to htc stock rom 4.4
can anyone guide me how its done thanks in advance
The easiest way is to restore a twrp or cwm backup, but you should do an advanced wipe first.
and if CM uses a custom kernel, preferably flash stock firmware too
