Hi all!
I'm a little noobish on Android and customizing it, but I've been playing around and I've been trying to install Sense 3.0 Roms like:
Cool3D RunnyMede v2
Cool3D AceS v3
Aurora v03
Aced Off!
PyramidMod007
And every time when I try to install them I would get stuck at the HTC Splash screen(quietly brilliant); it would just constantly reboot that screen for some reason. I've tried letting it sit for 30 minutes but nothing happened
Here's what I have on my phone:
Revolutionary CWM
Bravo PVT1 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1002
MICROP-031d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.17.05.23
And my installing procedure is:
1. Backup current nandroid
2. Delete cache, delete user data, delete dalvik cache
3. Install ROM
4. Install the rom converter CM7 --> HBoot.zip
5. Install Dalvik cache to ext. zip file
6. Reboot
I've actually tried installing them on CM7 too, but I reverted back to HBoot because my current rom requires Stock hboot.
Any help would be awesome! Thanks!
Try installing one at a time, rebooting between each one.
That's very weird something u are doing wrong for sure but can't understand what from what u wrote because there is no way that roms with sense 2.1 works and others with 3 no... It's impossible

What I did was backup and install one rom at a time, and when it doesn't work I revert back to my original rom, then I would try installing another one hours after or something, and I just repeated the process. I didn't install one on top of another.
@ halaros2
I was just actually trying to install other roms. I'm not sure what you mean by that 2.1 doesn't work with 3.0?
Thanks for the replies!
Are you rebooting after installing the rom?.....or are you installing rom, then Hboot, then Dalvik zip?
You need an ext partition on your SD card, do you not read the requirements before flashing?

I actually just install the rom, then install the hboot converter.zip and the dalvik zip. Am I supposed to reboot then install the zip files?

I do have an 1gb ext4 partition

Maybe add one more step before (3)
2.5. Install Hboot CM7/r2
Then replace step 4 with a reboot, making sure the rom works first, then following by installing any mod. When installing mod, also clear dalvik cache before and after

I just followed your instruction, did a backup, cleared my data/cache/dalvik cache, installed CM7/r2 to HBoot, it's still giving me the whole constant reboot at the HTC splash screen

Sad to hear that.
Maybe check following things :
1) On Hboot screen, does it show CM7 r2 - S-OFF, once you sure about that, can ignore any hboot installation later, it is because of other problem
2) Does it get to the 2nd stage of the boot i.e. showing "quite brilliant" ? if yes... should be booting to your rom soon, so wait !
3) Boot to recovery, mount sd-card to usb, and use gparted to check if you ext is there, 1GB and it's ext4, the other should be FAT32
- or you can remake it by using the partition sdcard on the recovery, and use gparted to convert it to ext4
This is really strange, you must be doing something wrong but I just can't work out what haha

1) Should I check the CM7/r2 screen on the Bootloader after installing the cm7/r2 to HBoot converter.zip file? I just did that and my boot loader still shows HBoot. And Yes it says S-OFF.
2) When I first boot up after installing the rom, the "quietly brilliant" screen reboots, so it would load HTC quietly brilliant, then do that over and over again. Am I supposed to wait there?
3) I created the partition with a partition wizard, and I double checked that I have an ext 4 partition on my mac.
1) which ROM are you trying to install ? If it's cool3d or aurora, just install the CM7r2, don't install the converter whatsover, once you get it done you will see CM7r2 in pink at your hboot screen. if you don't know what you're having, just download the new one here http://alpharev.nl/
2) Something went wrong... probably hboot
3) OK

Attempt #94820
I just tried to install cool3D without flashing the converter, I went to my boot loader, it's showing AlphaRev in pink then:
Bravo PVT1 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1002
Did I do something wrong again?
Last attempt of mine...
Is it "Alpharev CM7 r2" ? If not, install it by downloading the flasher ultilities
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794638
Flash the hboot with the tool using the bravo CM7 r2 image from Alpharev website http://alpharev.nl/bravo_alphaspl-cm7r2.img
If you sure it's already CM7r2, then you can go on try AURORA or COOl3D ( dun install the D2EXT version , you will need another hBoot). If still cannot, I suggest you replace your SDCARD and try again.

Actually for cool's roms, you can remain on stock hboot. All you do is flash stock_users.zip after the Rom. Although it is better to be on CM7r2 as it gives more space for apps.

Hello xda,
I'm having a current issue with my HTC Desire phone.
I wanted to load a custom rom on my desire, specifically the Runnymede 5.2 mod, but i encountered some problems, mainly due to my own stupidity.
I rooted the phone with unrevoked, and then installed rom manager to load a custom rom on my phone. After this, when i start my phone, it only shows the intro from htc and beats audio, then it just reboots and does it all over. Seems this guide i followed (not from here, should have used the one here), said nothing about s-on or s-off, neither about partisions.
I am able to get into recovery mode from clockword mod.
Info about my phone:
Boot menu info:
BRAVO PVT3 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.93.0001
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNW0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27
Kinda wondering if i'm able to find a standard rom somewhere, and then install it with clockword mod, or is that impossible because the security is on? If that's not possible, what else should I do? I read the Q/A post, but didn't encounter my specific problem...
If you need more info i'll post asap,
Thanks in advance,
Mauro
I had the same problem. Ran unrevoked, took a nandroid, went to reboot and got stuck in a boot loop. Had to run the Ruu for 2.2 to fix it.

Did you wipe, meet all the requirements in the Rom thread and flash the right version for your hboot?
What guide?

you do not have an ext3 oder ext4 on your sd card?
do you have a nandroid backup? restore it!
your bootloop is most likely caused by the wrong hboot...as you are still s-on, you got the stock hboot...you need cm7r2 hboot to run runnymede 5.2

Hi and thanks for all the useful posts. I am stuck as I have flashed a rom and kernal and now I am stuck in boot reseting
My information is
unlocked
Primoc PVT Ship S-on Rl
hboot- 1.53.0000
radio 1.00.00.0928
I am trying to flash JMZONE v4 and using JMZ-primoC-kernal -jb 20120820 as well as trying JMZ-primoc-kernal ICS 20120820
I factory reset, wipe cache, wipe davlik
install from zip hold power and volume down to flash rom using fastboot...but it loads to the HTC dev screen and then reboots over and over
I also tried to use RUU to reset, but it would not let me as the battery is under 30% due to the phone not turning off and leaving it on the charger all night does not help as it just reboots over and over
Can anyone provide some much appreciated guidance as I just bought this phone for my wife on VM and she is not too happy. I am happy with any working rom at this point
Thank you in advance

now i am trying to install the new roms cool droid and other but im having problems. i install the rom and it says it has been successful but when i reboot the htc it stays stuck at the htc logo forever. how long should it take. i know a new roms takes about 5-10 mins to start up but it shouldn't take upto an 1hr to start.
i would appreciate some help. thanks, adal316

You can partition your SD card from Recovery (depends on what type of recovery you use though)
Are you also sure you are using the right hboot?
im using clockworkMod recovery v5.0.2.0
im sorry about this but what do you mean using the right Hboot. its been a very long time since i last installed a ROM and ive forgot quite a bit so really would appreciate your help here.
Hello.
Try to tell us more information, which roms are you trying to install? Besides cool droid. Try to be more specific.
You said, you did a full wipe. That means factory reset + wiping data+wiping dalvik. Correct?
About the HBOOT thing. Try to boot into bootloader(volume down + power button), you can see the HBOOT number and version there.
Im no expert on rooting, but in the recent days ive reflashed lots of differerent roms. many roms did not boot, most likely reason was wrong rom for my phone. (i needed room for HTC Desire "Bravo")
i might be wrong, but it seemed to me that the different roms needs different recovery.
with my current setup im able to run cm but not miui. i was able to boot that one with another recovery that did not work with cyanogenmod.
i currently using CM10.1 VJ Jelly Bean 4.2.1 v4.5.

im trying to install sense 4.0 4.1 ROMS. yes when im doing the full wipe im wiping the cache partition and data factory reset then i am installing the new ROM. ROM get successfully installed but when htc desire reboots it stays stuck on the htc logo. please help
That happened to me when using stock hboot, but when i used cm7r2, the rom booted fine. Don't know why.
That's right, try flashing cm7r2 hboot,as abaaaabbbb63 said and I suppose it should be working fine.
Btw. My recommendation is.
Don't bother flashing 4.x.x ROMs for Desire. I don't think any of them are as good (I mean, smooth, without bugs, etc.) as the GB roms. Desire is now an "old" phone, you don't really need 4.x.x, instead of that, try flashing for example MildWild roms, (the one in my signature for example). You can get very nice performance, and a little 4.x.x look, which is probably why you're experimenting with 4.x.x ROMS
hey I had the same problem with my galaxy note then i formatted the SD .Then the problem was solved.

U mean paranoidandroid? If so that requires stock hboot. The rom they talking bout is cool droid. And if its the CoolDroid Revolution they talking bout then i wouldnt even bother flashing it, its bad, no offence to the dev but its slow, laggy, full of bugs. If its the old CoolDroid by coolexe then that rom is great all round.

Well, I think that nobody can help me? I think that I need back to old, lag stock rom...
EDIT:
I got it!
Well I do this steps:
I have rooted my device with this tutorial: Install CM for vision and I have install 4ext Recovery on stock Android 1.34.
Next step is format all your partition to ext4 and install custom rom.
Now is very important step - BACKUP your custom rom to your SDCARD. Again install stock rom (1.34) and root system.
Again format all partitions on phone to ext4 with 4ext Recovery. RESTORE your Custom Rom and s'il vous plaît très - ENJOY YOUR CUSTOM ROM!
That's steps help me to install Custom Rom without any bootlooping. But now I have problem with SDCARD, but I think this problem is becouse Andromadus is testing version.
wow be patient a little, be happy people are wiling to help when they have time
first off the logcat was for a rom that booted, that is hard to help figure out why something didnt boot. having the sandisk emmc is good but you werent showing signs of a fried emmc so no biggie either way
first of lets just do this step by step quick ok
flash THIS or THIS in recovery, then reboot recovery
now flash THIS ROM
when finished flash THESE GAPPS
now reboot
wait even ten minuets to load
if not get me a logcat of this NOT booting
edit
i see you got things settled, good
but just so you know there is no need to back up and restore your stock rom before flashing a custom one
i figure the reason why it worked for you this time was the formatting of partitions to ext4 (needed for jb roms)
or just the fact that your formatted completely wiped your partitions something i dont think was happening before
either way im glad you go it handled, but from now on just do complete wipes between flashed and youll be fine
