I've got my network unsecured and no broadcast, but just says "not in range" with the GS2. Hopefully will be resolved with another kernel. Remember having this problem only on a few roms with the OG Evo

My home is well within the Sprint 4G coverage area shown on the coverage maps. When I turn on 4G (from the Settings screen) it connects to the "Sprint Network" and obtains an IP address (Signal strength = Good).
BUT:
None of the applications which require network access (browser, Market, email, YouTube, etc) can connect. They'll open up, but they can't access the network. If I uncheck Mobile networks in Settings > Wireless & Networks and then re-check it again, it reports "Service unavailable" despite the fact that the 4G Settings screen still reports Connected to Spring with "Good" signal strength and I still have an IP Address.
I should add that the phone has been doing this since I got the phone in November, but I figured it was due to the "unofficial/testing" status of the 4G coverage. I also installed the new 3.70.651.1 update hoping that it would fix the problem, but it had no effect.
After telephone support ran out of things to try they issued a Ticket # and sent me to a Sprint repair location this morning. That location couldn't test the phone on 4G because the store isn't in a 4G coverage area so they just replaced it with a brand new one (not a referb). So I get it home and try it on 4G before I make a single configuration change and the new phone does exactly the same thing as the old one: Good 4G connection but no service.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Did you find an answer for it?
Thanks!
Pete
Note: All apps seem to work fine when I'm connected to 3G.
Additional info:
For the record, switching back to 3G after trying 4G results in the battery dropping like a stone. aLogcat reveals a flood of those damned <DC Connect> failures going on in the background. Thankfully, powering the phone off and on clears the problem until I try 4G again.
Two things of note:
It doesn't matter whether I use the 4G widget or the Wireless & networks screen.
Removing the 4G widget has no effect.

So I recently flashed to gb rom starskyrom.. everything seems to be working fine but lately, 4g connects and doesnt find ip address. Ill have an idle 4g icon ( sleeping zzz...) but when I go to wireless settings>4g settings> and check the sprint 4g network it says ip address 0.0.0.0... but I'm connected? Because it thinks I'm connected, it won't fall back to 3g.. anyone else experiencing this? Does it have todo with signal strength? Maybe my rom?... but it was workin before... my modem? Any thoughts
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Just got back from work, the 4g is broken on starsky 4.0, not sure how I thought it was working, but its not.
Not sure what would cause it, I'm also using starsky and have no problems with 4G.
Try the basic fixes
Reboot
clear and re flash
etc
If that don't work, it may be a problem with the network in your area.
Like the day I started trying ei22 roms and utah had its 3g die. I could not figure out what I was doing wrong.
So you have the same symptoms as described above?
I have no T-Mobile tower reception at work, and was looking forward to the wifi calling capability to come to the rescue with this new phone/service. Unfortunately, my work wifi requires a proxy-serverort for browser connection, and once I update the wireless connection with these settings - I am able to browse fine.
Regardless of the wireless signal strength, the WiFi Calling status states : Poor WiFi signal, before timing out with REG99 error - unable to connect. I have also noticed on this phone and the HTC EVO 4G, that while on wifi at work, my download speeds (via speednet) are high (>10mbps), but nothing shows up in the upload section.
Given the above, and knowledgeable of the fact that my corporate network does shut down access to other ports - is there any workaround to enable wifi calling behind a proxied network? I have even tried to add a new APN to include the proxyort to no avail.
wifi calling from the home network works without any issues, and yes i am rooted.
TIA for any help.
Found the solution. Turns out that accessing the proxied wireless network was the root cause of the issue. We also have access to a guest network, that interestingly does not require a proxy connection to the outside world, and that works perfectly fine!
Still unanswered then, is what ports does this phone require that are being blocked by the proxy server?
I would also like to know the answer to this. I do not have access to another wifi server to test this. What is weird though is that my Sensation that I just got rid of had no issues with wifi calling on the same network, explain that!
I ROOTED and unlocked my phone as soon as the option was available. Afterwards I entered the *#6335623# to change the wifi popup. Ever since I've had to manually connect the wifi to the closest signal. I've tried to use the same *#6335623# code on the dialer but it doesn't come up any longer. Has anyone had this issue because I haven't seen it posted anywhere.
I'm running Aokp on the latest vrlhe radio.
Does anyone have any ideas. It seems that it now not only doesn't auto connect to closest wifi, its starting to say that all the connects are poor signals even when 10 ft away from the wifi box.
Uncheck the poor signal option under advanced settings, and see if that fixes it.
im having an issue with Wifi calling after a while i get an error saying ER081 unable to connect.

Nope. I rely heavy on WiFi calling as the tmo signal is not strong enough at my house.
I believe the error is when the phone doesn't think the WiFi signal is strong enough which can happen even with 5 bars. Get the free VoIP router from T-Mobile and you won't have the problem anymore at home ;o)
This is generally related to your WiFi network, not the phone. It's usually from the AP changing channels, device switching bands, encryption rekey, or some other normally imperceptible change on the network side. The quickest solution is to turn WiFi off and then back on on your phone.
ER081 on G6 at work
I can't connect to the wi-fi calling here at work at all. I have TERRIBLE service with T-mobile here and can't even receive any messages or calls on my phone with the wi-fi calling not working. My G4 worked great....this G6, not at all. SO frustrating.

It's not Samsung, it's whatever software T-Mobile is using. I have no cell reception whatsoever where I live and no landline either and have been using wifi just fine for my calls. And yesterday out of nowhere, I started getting instant disconnects on calls the moment they were dialed while the internet worked fine.
And today after a patch, I am getting the er081 error. Did the same thing at a local wifi network as well so the next time I am in town, I'll check the T-Mobile store and then either have them replace my phone or get a refund even though I would rather not have to since I have the 128gb version and have been pretty much using it for everything I used to do on my laptop..
er081 error galaxy s6 edge
I received the Jan 2017 patch and my wifi calling won't connect. I also had to have my frontier router replaced the next day. Any suggestions? Is there a setting in the router dashboard I should know abou

I know this thread is old, but this fixed my WiFi calling issue. The problem is I need more than one phone to be able to use WiFi calling and my router only allows port forwarding to individual internal IP addresses. Therefore, once I assign the port numbers you have given to one phone's IP, I can't assign them to another phone's IP because it will not allow me to create a conflicting service. Any idea how to tackle this?
My router is Netgear Orbi mesh router RBR50 and also have one mesh satellite RBS50
Phones are all OnePlus 7T Pro 5G
Internet Service Provider is Charter Spectrum
Phone Service Provider is T-Mobile
