I ROOTED and unlocked my phone as soon as the option was available. Afterwards I entered the *#6335623# to change the wifi popup. Ever since I've had to manually connect the wifi to the closest signal. I've tried to use the same *#6335623# code on the dialer but it doesn't come up any longer. Has anyone had this issue because I haven't seen it posted anywhere.
I'm running Aokp on the latest vrlhe radio.
Does anyone have any ideas. It seems that it now not only doesn't auto connect to closest wifi, its starting to say that all the connects are poor signals even when 10 ft away from the wifi box.
Uncheck the poor signal option under advanced settings, and see if that fixes it.

Hi Guys,
So, I've been using the GNex for about a month. I moved to this phone from a Moto Atrix and here is what I have noticed and have looked around but didn't see any good answers to these questions I am having. Hopefully I get some answers here.
Device info:
GNex GSM version on ATT.
Running JB 4.1.1 Stock with Trinity Kernel (rooted and bootloader unlocked).
Issue #1: I get really bad reception at work. But, when I leave the building, my phone doesn't automaticaly connect back to the network. Sometimes, if I don't check my phone, it's been like that all night long until the next day when I have tried to make a call and it said "No Network Available" and I have to either reboot or toggle airplane mode to get back on the network. Am I missing something? In my past experience with other devices, they try to automatically connect back to the network when they loose connectivity. Also, if I get in an elevator during a call and the call gets dropped due to network unavailability, it doesn't connect back to the network and I have to toggle airplane mode. Has anyone else had this issue?
Issue#2: This is with the stock mail app. Specifically the search in this mail app. No matter what, it always returns zero results. Has anyone had this issue with the Mail App? If I use the Gmail app, it works fine. That's what I am using now, but am curious as to what I may be missing that make it not return any search results in the stock mail app.
Q3: Speed Dial: How do you set speed dial on the dialer? Is it even supported?
thanks in advance,
vG

it could be to do with your radio, what version is it? baseband version in about phone. im no expert but when i flashed a jellybean rom i had to update my radio afterwards cause my signal was dropping alot. i also had the same problem later on but that was down to my network operator. before i realised it was them i googled my problem and a few forums suggested that my sim card was goosed. so maybe check those three possibilities? i cant help with the other two issues unfortunately but good luck sorting it out!

I've got a strange problem that I cannot solve or find anyone else that has had the same problem.
I recently updated to Minco V4 and since my status bar has been showing no signal and mobile standby shows 100% without signal yet I have mobile data. I cannot make any phone calls but can browse the internet. No amount of rebooting, airplane mode on/off will work. I've also gone back to both stock ICS and JB where the problem still exists.
My network is T-Mobile and it won't let me manually connect to it but the phone will occasionally register when I select automatic although it doesn't correct the fault. Anyone have any ideas what has gone wrong with my phone?
UPDATE: It seems I can only get a phone signal when select 2g T-mobile network only or connecting to T-Mobile orange. If I untick 2g networks and it connects to t-mobile 3g I can't receive or make calls.
Does your Radio and baseband match?
I installed the linked radio from the MiNCO thread after flashing the rom and discovering this issue yet it made no difference.
I got a phone signal momentarily about 15 mins ago which allowed me to make a short phone call to test it. I then accepted the JB system update from Google and now have no phone signal, just data.
Hi,
I am having problems with wifi drops under custom roms (I've tried several CM10 builds and AOKP's JB Milestone 1).
Under a rooted stock rom (UCLH9) and ATT installed kernel (3.0.8-985684) I get a very stable wifi connection.
However, if I install a different rom via ClockworkMod, I'll get wifi connections for ~ 30 seconds (or until data stops transmitting), and then it will drop out. I have to cycle the wifi on and off to re-establish a connection. Again, I'll stay connected for 30 seconds or less and wifi will drop again. The rest of the phone works fine.
Despite the dropped connection, the wifi icon (under settings) will say connected but show no signal bars. In addition, the phone nearly comes to a halt and hangs, as if all processes are being devoted to reconnecting.
This happens on at least two routers (one at home, one at work), so I don't think it is a router issue.
I've seen some people talk about the *#0011# dial code to turn off wifi sleep mode. If I dial this under the rooted stock rom, I'll get the menu as expected. But if I dial this code under either custom ROM first I see "USSD code running" and then I get an error "Connection problem or invalid MMI code."
If, after all this, I restore to the rooted stock ROM, wifi works and everything is fine.
Any suggestions for getting a wifi functional custom ROM installed would be appreciated.
Thanks
Avram
Sometimes getting a kernel for those type of problems fix it because they are basically replacing your phones access to your drivers (Wifi and so on)
This one puzzled me for a while. The rom comes preset to disable wifi after a certain amount of idle time. Go into Settings>Wireless & Networks>WiFi then press your settings button>Advanced> Keep Wifi On During Sleep> Set to Always. Maybe this is the fix to your problem.
This is happening to me right now with my LG G2, WIFI is stable on the stock rom but drops constantly with any custom rom. Did anyone find a fix for this?
I have tried several fixes including WIFI on during sleep to always, WIFI optimization off, different freq bands, I can't figure this one out...
Anyone else notice Wi-Fi randomly deciding to turn off/not connect to automatic networks, like your home or office?
I notice that sometimes I'll pick up my phone and go to use the VPN and it will say I can't connect because I'm not connected to the Internet. Or I'll get an email in Gmail while using my laptop and wonder why my phone didn't beep just then and notify me. I then look in the to corner and see it isn't connected to my network, nor making an attempt to. The Wi-Fi signal symbol just isn't there. The Wi-Fi quick settings button is highlighted meaning Wi-Fi is in fact enabled, but it isn't connected to it for some reason. The second I go look at the network list -- and it does see all the networks so I know for sure it is enabled and scanning -- it instantly tries to connect and does so perfectly fine.
I thought it was just a bad signal once or a router issue, but it has happened several times now since updating to 4.3. This has never happened before.
It's just like it randomly decides not to try and connect to the network unless I open up the network list. It's random as far as I can tell. It's usually fine, but it has happened on more than one occasion now since upgrading to 4.3.
Any ideas? I haven't changed any settings since 4.3. I thought it might be battery/idle related, but once I get it to connect again, it stays connected no matter what the status of the battery or how long it's idle. This makes me think it's probably a bug.
I have my home WiFi saved on my OP3. When I go out of the range of it, it gets disconnected (obviously) but when I come back to the range, it does not connect automatically even if the WiFi is ON.
I have not changed any WiFi settings except disabling the WiFi/Bluetooth scan for Location.
Any ideas?
I am on unrooted stock OOS 3.1.2, if that info helps.
^ I have the exact same issue as well.
+1 ... same issue with lots of other issues faced on this device... totally disappointed with it... can't use it for daily use.
just to let you know I am on 3.2.1 so update did not fix the issue
+1 here - my home wifi is dual band, 5ghz is rubbish, takes ages to connect and rarely picks it up if I move out and back in range. I need to manually call the wifi list up and connect. 2.4ghz is marginally better and will autoconnect.
+1 same issue
