ok, I read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756479 and there were some suggestions like the nolock app, wildpuzzle, etc.
I just got rid of cm7 and testing shooter's newest, and yea the 3.0 lock is slow and annoying, but rather than just removing, I would love the gesture feature that c7 offers. Is there any way/ app that can do that while not on the c7 rom?
I did search and haven't found anything yet.
Tnx
Since the lockring style lock screen is a feature of sense 3.0 and guestures are a feature of AOSP, you couldn't easily swap it out. Only a skilled developer(or group) could get this to work.
On another note, I did see an app that replaced your lock screen with one that has a gesture function...but I read reviews of it not being implemented well.

There is an app (free in market) called no lock that works quite well for removing the lockscreen altogether.
I knew that back in the day on Sense 1.0 roms you could replace the Sense lockscreen with the AOSP one. I think you also had to switch out the clock so that you could dismiss alarms or something.
I never did this because I never run Sense, but I remember reading about it. I also don't know if it works on 3.0 roms, but it could be a place to start.
You could also try WidgetLocker. It doesn't have gesture support, but you can place sliders, shortcuts, and apps on the lockscreen. I know it's not what you're looking for, but it's a much easier solution & a nifty app as well.

Thanks guys. I used nolock in the past and the only issue is it does just that, it removes ALL security. So if I can't get the gesture, I would settle for a pin/pattern, etc. Even though I enable the pattern security, if nolock is enabled, it ignores that so it seems with a sense rom it's either ring + other security or nothing at all right?
Grrrr! Thanks

Hey Folks,
I've recently rooted my device to DamageControl v3.2.3 and am LOVING this ROM. With just LauncherPro, JuiceDefender and disabling SENSE - my battery life has virtually tripled.
Of course, now I'm missing some of my SenseUI apps, namely the Clock/Alarm/Stopwatch/Timer application...does anyone out there know if this can be enabled/installed without having Sense enabled?
If it can't be enabled without going back to Sense, can anyone recommend a comparable app?
Thanks!
As far as i know, you cannot use any Sense Widgets or Apps while it's disabled. I suggest "Better Alarm" in the Market -- it's like the stock Android clock app. It doesn't have as many features as the Sense Clock, but it has enough to still be useful.
Hop that helps.
Thanks for the reply Veritas! I found a solution with a little testing...apparently re-enabling the HTC/Sense lock screen does the trick.
Immediately upon doing this, the HTC Clock app is now available for use! I'm not sure how much of a memory/resource footprint this has, but from my initial testing performance appears on par to my initial settings.
Hope this is a useful post for anyone else out there that's curious.
DC is a great ROM.

I am definitely still new to the ROM scene, but is enabling the lock screen the same as enabling Sense altogether? I still use a few HTC widgets and apps, I could replace them, but if this allows them without turning on the whole Sense UI that would be cool!

It is my understanding (and i could be wrong) but if you disable Sense but keep the lock screen enabled that you will not be able to turn off an alarm if sent using the "sense" clock. You may want to test this BEFORE you need to use it lol.

Omega, I didn't have any problems disabling it this morning. The Alarm functionality seems to be tied directly to the Sense lock screen and native app - as I was able to dismiss/and snooze with just the lock screen.
As a side note, it seems without Sense enabled I can't use the clock/weather widget...it seems to be cooked into the Sense Launcher. However, with Beautiful Widgets I don't particularly miss this feature.

Silver, I don't think the lock screen is 100% the same as enabling Sense as a whole for DC, but I may be wrong. I definitely can't use the Sense launcher w/ just the lock screen enabled, so I figure they're two separate application pieces.
I'm also still green to modding with the Evo, so maybe a more experienced modder or dev can clarify this question? *fingerscrossed*
I got this app up and running just fine, however, I do have a slight concern that I need help on.
My regular lockscreen is coming up after I slide to unlock using WidgetLocker....so I have to slide twice...I've searched Google, XDA and looked at all the WidgetLocker settings but cannot find anything. I have also tried two different lockscreen suppressors but no go.
Help, anyone? Sorry if its a repost and I couldn't find the exact thread that dealt with this, if any.
TGIF everyone
Found this on WidgetLocker Site:
Can I use the Android 2.2 PIN/Password lock?
Yes, but on non-Sense devices it will not be as seamless as the pattern lock. After unlocking WidgetLocker you will see the stock unlock screen, and after unlocking that you will see the PIN/Password entry. On HTC Sense devices the middle step is bypassed, but I have not yet found a way of doing this on other devices. I am looking into the manner.
Question answered..I think, but if anyone else can post if they have disabled the Android lock, I would appreciate it.
(Using stable CM6 at the moment, non-sense)
Have you tried looking in "advanced" and unchecking "retain system keyguard" in widget locker? I believe having this option checked would induce the behaviour you are experiencing. I would test it myself on my phone, but my lockscreen settings are completely bastardized. I manually removed the sense lockscreen so things behave not as planned but exactly how I like.
Disable the lock completely, app called no lock.

Death : I have that option unchecked already.
Gmaine : I tried 'NoLock' and another 5 star rated..or very close to 5 star rated app which I forgot the name to. Any particular order this goes in? Because I just have WidgetLocker running, and downloaded 'NoLock', enabled it, locked screen, unlocked and saw the same 2nd lockscreen after WidgetLocker's...
Nope no order,i was on a sense rom tho and the no lock did the trick for me.

Well, I just heard back from the main developer - it is a known issue.
Hello everyone,
I've been looking for a few days, ever since i got Visidon Applock Plus, for a way to remove the lockscreen (both the HTC one and Vanilla one) because the lockscreen keeps showing up, so i have to unlock it, then face-unlock it, where i want to just use the face lock feature. is there something i can delete/remove/flash to get rid of the lockscreen?
Thanks
How about a lockscreen disabler?
Nolock works.
Sent from my RamenizedEvo on Cricket.
thanks for the reply
However, i tried using that, and it was very sporadic, like would work for a minute then the lockscreen would come back, then it'd work again, happened multiple times in the half hour or so i tried it, and same thing with 3 or 4 other "no-screenlock" apps
Ok. AOSP has a disable lockscreen.
Sent from my RamenizedEvo on Cricket.
ok, thanks. should've mentioned i'm on MikG 3.0 (i believe that's the version), and from what it's sounding like, there's no way to do it on sense, is there
Then ditch that sense and come to the aosp side. We have cookies

You could always delete HtcLockscreen.apk & .odex, but I'd definitely do a backup first, because I don't think you'd be able to unlock your device.
I've deleted those and it goes to the AOSP style side-drag tabs. thanks everyone, i'm just going to go back to CM, since i know how to disable the lockscreen there.
I was given Widgetlocker by a friend (He gave me a 10$ Google Play Gift Card) yesterday. I noticed that Widgetlocker doesnt have a Pattern or Pin Lock option on it, and I get my stock lockscreen on my Galaxy S3 immediately afterwards, which seems incredibly redundant.
Don't get me wrong, the application is great, and I haven't had any issues aside from this so far.
Is there any way to force Widgetlocker to use a pattern or pin lock? Or alternatively is there a way to add a camera shortcut on the stock touchwiz lockscreen?
You probably have to disable the stock lock screen for it to not show up after, or maybe a setting on widget locker, and I think the only way to get a camera shortcut is to use ripple on stock lockscreen

Well that bites. I suppose I will live without it, Its not like it takes me more than 1-5 seconds to draw my pattern/pin anyway.
Its really like that for a reason.
If you can access the camera w/o using your pin/pw/pattern, it makes using the security features pointless.
From camera you can open gallery/messaging and from there you can get to your contacts and dialer. So if someone stole or found your phone they'd have unsecured, easy access to most of your stuff.

I use lightning launcher ultimate (which has lock screen) and after clicking an app, it displays the stock pattern screen, then takes you to your shortcut, thereby security is still useful, choppy!

Actually WidgetLocker works this way too.
Enable pin/pattern on phone and ensure the option in Widget Locker to disable the stock screen is not checked.
Completely remove the swipe to unlock button and don't replace it. You'll have a blank WidgerLocker lock screen with a clock.
Long press and add apps and widgets. Change security to lock screen immediately. Power power button. Click a widget on homescreen. You'll be prompted to enter the pin/pattern! You have access to all your apps on the locker screen, with pin/pattern security simply by disabling the slide to unlock button. You're welcome (albeit months and months late.)

I realize this thread is old but I feel compelled to contribute my .02 for the benefit of those like me who's search for help on this topic leads them here.
It seems to me the OP is simply pointing out the fact that Widgetlocker doesn't offer a PIN or pattern unlock feature like those found in most other lock screen replacement apps. IMHO this a CATASTROPHIC omission by the devs of what I believe is an otherwise-outstanding app! I mean it -- I LOVE this app! The fact that something so simple and avoidable is keeping me from being able to use it pains me gravely. To be clear, yes, it appears WL can be set to give deference to system PIN/pattern security as mentioned in another post but someone please explain to me how doing this doesn't defeat the point of installing the app in the first place!
I agree that there are potential security concerns in having lock screen shortcuts bypassing the pin/pattern lock; I however disagree that such a thing necessarily "makes using security features pointless." Let's be frank. Some of us have much bigger security concerns than worrying about who might be snooping through our pictures or contact lists, but even in the event that such things are the aggregate of one's sensitive "stuff" there are ways to achieve essential functionality without turning over the keys to one's deepest, darkest secrets. One could, for example, simply download a basic camera app without a gallery link, or a standalone dialer app with a null (or decoy) contact list. With a bit of hackery one needn't even give up the comfort or utility of full-feature apps in this regard. Failing this, there are still plenty of other apps one might want quick and unfettered access to which do NOT pose an inherent security risk (i.e. music player, flashlight, weather, stopwatch/timer, calculator, universal remote, fruit ninja, etc.). What's the point of having shortcuts/widgets on the lock screen if you have to unlock your device to access them? Why not just use the shortcuts/widgets on the home screen if you're going to go to the trouble to make an effort commensurate to that end anyhow?
Hey everyone, I have been here a while but I dont have my ten posts to post in the dev section :/ so I am posting my question here! I am on the Toro+ Gnex running Atom 422 I believe, but my question isnt specific to that ROM. In many ROMs my lock screen music widget would freeze up and stop playing and when I turned the phone on it looked like the music widget was overlaping the camera widget ( lockscreen widgets) and then disapear. I have tried using Apollo, Zplayer, and Play Music. I uninstalled all but one to test individually and I got the same results. I don't have this issue with ROMs that have the option to disable the camera lockscreen widget and I was wondering if this is a known problem with the camera or what. I am using a custom lockscreen shortcut for the camera right now so it is not a big deal I was just curious If anyone else has had this problem. This persists through dirty, clean flashes of new ROMs and kernels except for ROMs that can disable the camera lockscreen widget. thanks for the feedback!
First and foremost the Dev section is reserved for developers who wish to introduce their ROMS and kernels, not for questions such as this. So in a way, thank you for not posting here even though it was your intention to do so
As far as the lock screen...are you using stock launcher or a third party launcher such as apex or nova? Lock screen apps are just that, app that overlay the original lock screen. What I mean is that the culprit is probably your launcher. I use PA 3.94 and have no issues. Admittedly though, my lock screen security is disabled so I can use Locket. Locket has no widgets so that may be a option for you. I do kiss the music widget however, but I just unlock the screen to access the controls and in doing so I get paid for doing so.

Hmm, interesting I didnt think to change the launcher I was on Atom launcher at the time and now I am just using the launcher included in the Atom-422 Rom. After work I will re-install Atom launcher and see if I can replicate the issue. So, the lockscreen widgets are extensions of the launcher? I guess I don't understand how the launcher would cause that issue, something I am going to have to look up I guess ha Yeah I thought about removing the lockscreen but the shortcuts are just too convinient and Dash clock is awesome too. How is Locket working for you? I havent tried it but I imagined it to be laggy just because I associate Ads with lag.
P.S. I wasn't going to start a tread in the dev section, I was just going to post in the ROM thread asking if anyone else had the same issue ;]

I haven't used Atom launcher so I can't say for sure. Since you've used stock and the Atom launcher I guess you can try a third party one such as Apex or Nova and see if the issue persists. Its weird how its happening to you though, I've never heard of such bug. To my understanding, lockscreen and the associated widgets are part of the launcher, hence the reason why not all launchers support widgets. I understand your desire to keep your widgets, they do come in handy but personally I usually don't find myself wishing I had more than the standard clock since I instinctively unlock my phone anyways.
I thought the same as you with regards to Locket, but I must admit that the ads are incredibly lightweight and well designed. Most of the time I don't see them as ads but a dynamic wallpaper add-on since the ads cycle every time you turn on your display. Give it a shot, you can access the notification bar even with Locket installed, which houses playback controls as well. Link is in my siggy
