I would definitely recommend you find a rooted stock PC36IMG.zip, place it on your SD card, and see if the bootloader recognizes it. Something on that screen looks weird - you haven't done anything that may have corrupted your bootloader, have you?

HBoot 2.18??????
Am I Seeing that right?? I thought 2.16 was the latest version for the EVO

Try to reflash your Hboot from Recovery. It does look weird.
You can find your hboot here.
http://www.mediafire.com/?ff1duqhahwf23w8
Copy it to your SD card and flash it through your recovery.

[Q] Black HTC screen with 4 exclamation marks after RUU Update. Solved

Hi all. I have a major issue with my fiancée's phone. I tryed to downgrade from Alpharev CM7 hboot using an RUU. My mistake as I got an error saying "incorrect version". In the hboot it displays as the system did not load after the RUU error. So now I get a black HTC screen with 4 exclamation marks 1 in each corner

this appears when I connect the phone via USB. But when I take it off USB it displays this . So these are the only 2 screens I have access to, I can flash stuff via fastboot using CMD prompt but nothing has succeeded so far. I do not have access to the normal hboot and fastboot menus. Any ideas are very welcome.
Save me.

Did you try flashing a ruu the pb99img.zip way?

Since you still have the alpharev/revolutionary hboot, use the downgrader from alpharev site. Flash it, then flash any ruu the normal way. Dont do it if you dont have a goldcard though. You can also fastboot flash any nandroid backup from fastboot mode
Why does the goldcard make a difference when doing an RUU update?

Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
Ok so problem solved. Did a backup of a good desire and then flashed via fastboot the boot.img, cache.img, recovery.img and system.img.
I did all of this after I had rolled back the hboot from the Alpherev CM7 version to the stock alpharev hboot so same as on the other phone.
I then typed 'fastboot boot OEM' and hey presto booted up into gingervillan. Yay.
I then booted back into recovery and wiped all userdata and flashed a brand new version of the ROM and all is good and peacfull.
Oh and used a gold card when doing it.
Thanks for your help guys.

How did you roll back to the stock alpharev hboot?
I am having the exact same problem after trying to downgrade from Alpharev CM7 hboot using an RUU.
You have to fastboot flash it. See fastboot faq linked in my signature

Advice Please :) Just tried revoked to root

I just ran revoked, I did not click yes to accept clockwork. I then clicked recovery and now my phone has the picture of a phone with a caution symbol - The power button doesn't work, whether I press it or hold it - same with VD+Powerbutton. It's been about 5 minutes so far, I'm fine with waiting - just would like to get some advice from a seasoned rooter I had my old EVO rooted but broke my phone and haven't bothered to root my new one until now.

I'm assuming the only way to power it down is pull the battery - but again, would rather get some advice - I know sometimes you just need to wait things out.
Thanks!
If you have gingerbread 2.3.3 don't use revoked. Use revolutionary

Just read through the sticky and found that (Didn't realize it went past the first post)
Step 1 on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1218386 says to download SuperUser - Is that the recovery? If so, I didn't rename it and I guess that would be the case.
All I've done so far is run revolutionary. Is it okay to pull my battery and reboot? And will I lose root/need to re-do revolutionary if I do that?
Thanks!

If you look in the evo 4g development section search amon RA and it will be in PC36IMG.zip that you flash in the bootloader. No superuser is what you will be flashing through the recovery once you have it setup. Should be okay to pull the battery

Keep in mind, I'm still running my original setup and have not flashed any ROMs yet.

Problem booting into CWM

I just recently rooted my Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Sprint) and I am having a hard time getting into the CWM recovery. Granted, the CWM recovery stays put, but getting into it is the problem. I hold down both volume buttons + power and my phone brings up "shell has been granted super user permissions" over and over.
The only way I can get into CWM is by installing ROM manager and selecting the option to boot into the recovery. I'm just afraid when something goes wrong and I need to go into recovery, I can't and basically screwed lol. If someone could give me some info or help me diagnose the problem I'd greatly appreciate it.

Use fastboot to flash a recovery image and from there flash a ROM. With a little digging I think there is even a way to fastboot flash a ROM, or you could always use a RUU and just root it again.

Do not use the Toolkit! Higher chance of bricking devices! Just use fastboot commands, what's wrong with that?
On your computer, just download a ROM, put it in the same directory as adb and fastboot, type in "adb push ROMNAME.zip /sdcard/" while on recovery mode. Not that hard! This way, you can educate yourself, so you don't need to ask for help again!

It sounds like your drivers may not be installed correctly. A few posts above yours is one by efrant. Read through the guides linked in his sig. One of them has some great information about drivers and making sure you've got them installed right. It looks a little intimidating at first, but read through a couple of times and it won't seem quite so overwhelming. If you're like me and need some information to compare against, check out Jubakuba's guides as well. They are both covering about the same thing, just explaining it a little differently.

Uninstall drivers, reboot pc, put phone in recovery, connect to pc, feed it the naked drivers, use adb binary for windows which i'm sure is attached to one of the few guides.
