[OTA] 14-Sep HTC Desire NEW FROYO OTA 2.2.2 ( 2.29.405.7 ) - Desire General

Even if everyone already have a gingerbread rom (custom or official), seems htc just released a new OTA with froyo 2.2.2
http://www.eurodroid.com/2011/09/13...version-updated-with-system-enhancement-6-02/
seems only some system enhancement
here a download link with the ota file

It's popping up on my phone too - although I've been reading that it breaks accessing voicemail from speed dial?

I can't believe people still believe in that developer-not-official bull****. It was marked as a "developer version" only because it's available only as a RUU. And everything that was released by HTC is official.

When it is minor OS update with minor version number increment, what do you think? Seriously, use that thing in your head called brain before you ask stupid question.

i agree the gb ruu is official..but they released gb only to say "we released the gb update as u wished"..no more updates on that will come..is like a discontinued version...infact now they are releasing an ota that is going to patch the last official rom for the desire: froyo

Which will be most probably the last version as well.

Latest update error 7 damn. Looks like cid issue, anyone knows way around it, i tried it in stock recovery

Offering Money to Fix Phone 2.2

Hello,
I am willing to offer someone 20USD if they can tell me how to fix my HTC desire. I was running on a Asia ROM which was upgraded to a Euro one so i could update. Upon updating to 2.2 I have no wifi, or SD and "process system" keeps crashing
The details of the phone are:
Model A8181
OS: 2.2 (from OTA)
Baseband: 32.36.00.28U_406.00.02_2
Kernel: 2.6.29-0cb9f166
Build is 2.09.405.8
Please Help Me.
You need to flash the newest radio, should fix all your problems.
You're using a radio from eclair (2.1).
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
With the 2.2 ota, im not sure if there is a way to downgrade, as I read one of the devs accidentally upgraded to an OTA release. This is due to the bootloader being updated to one that hasnt been hacked yet.
My 2 cents is hold tight and hope one of the devs figures a way to downgrade, that way you could install a custom 2.2 which doesnt have these issues.
Good luck, sorry i couldnt be of much use :/
EDIT- i completely missed that flakz0r lol, can it still be flashed through recovery if he used a 2.2 OTA update? if so http://android.adamg.co.uk/bravo/radio/32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20.zip
you still have the older 2.6.29 kernel too
flash the radio to the latest and flash one of the 101 roms people are releasing based on the new ota 2.2 as that should update your kernel

Did you download the ota update, or have you got root and installed one of roms on this forum? If it's ota I dont see how your radio can be the one you've stated. If it's a rom from the forum flash the new radio 32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20.zip
I dont know, but it should be possible. Also, the official OTA update comes with the new radio, so i dont understand how he was able to update the rom but not the radio. That is assuming he isnt rooted, of course.

Yeah, you just need the radio. Put it on your sdcard and flash it like you flashed the rom. Dont touch your phone, let it work, takes a while.

so essentially once the official gb is pushed ota we can get a copy of the same ruu for download ?
and will this just update from the leaked ( possibly unfinished build ) to the official finished one ? or is there a chance it could be completely different in terms of architecture...

Currently leaked one is 2.18.605.3, and will NOT be the OTA from verizon. The one I was able to snag from verizon is 2.18.605.4, and is the current candidate.
Does the "Official" RUU become available after the release of the OTA? I stupidly updated to the GB Leak, not thinking through the ramifications of what would truly happen if this was not the final version. I'm coming from the OG Droid where such things were never a worry, but I fear I may have really ruined my chances at more updates, or the true update. Yes, I am aware that I was warned, yes I feel stupid for what I did...

will upgrading via OTA break s-off when it is released, ie do we need to be running froyo in order to s-off?

HTC desire update will NOT be OTA but via HTC Sync!! [Confirmed]

Hello,
I just read on an official site, that the htc desire will not be given the gingerbread 2.3ota but it will be released through HTC Sync, because its getting a new kernel and the partition of the device will be edited to fit htc sense.
HTC Sense will also be stripped down.. so probably not sense 2.1

Mhm, that will be even smart from HTC cause modifying of nand size, nice move but for us only version of sense is important now i think and with 1.9 i'm not happy a lot :/
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Good thing I don't care for official stuff as I don't plan on installing HTC Sync. They are upgrading Sense. I don't see any other valid reason for partition table change other than that. After all they have 250mb at their disposal. Fcuk me if they can't put Sense 1.0 on that only because it is Gingerbread.
If that info is valid at all.
Well nice to see what are they willing to do but I don't care anymore since I use Cyanogenmod. I only feel bad for those who like sense and their official rom very much.

Yea i noticed that too. Considering most roms are nearer 600-650 mb.
Probably because it's an OTA, not a full ROM.. Just my guess anyways.
EDIT: If you have a look at the previous 2.17.401.2 OTA, this was only 148.13MB. And looking at the filename, you need to be on this version in order to update to this OTA (i.e. 2.17.401.2 to update to 3.09.401.100)

Please look at these screenshots too and tell me whether all these are fully updated compared to other DINC2 users who has officially updated der phone
I believe the reason is that the software updates are locked down to Verizon and Vodafone network. I tried with Mobile Data off and WiFi on and it denied me. Nevertheless, your guess could be as goof as mine because I am no longer on stock.

There's a ton of ROMs to choose from. Read some tutorials in the development section to learn root and s off for flashing ROMs.

Lookin for a stock rom for incredible 2
OK So I was running 2.3.4 and downgraded to 2.3.3 and used Revolutionary to get s-off and root and flashed the rom to phone WITHOUT Backing up my Stock Rom. I am looking for a stock rom just in case something goes wrong. I have looked in XDA but the links keep me going in circles. If anyone knows a direct link to a download. please let me know.
I am running:
android 2.3.3
Sense 2.1
Software 2.18.605.3
Kernal 2.6.35.9-6760582
Baseband 20.27W.30.0811U_1.09.01.0622
Build 2.18.605.3 CL79787
I am new to the incredible 2 and am also lookin for a Smooth Rom With the original Droid feel. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Try nitsuj's SenseM ROM.
