[Q] official ruu GB - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

so essentially once the official gb is pushed ota we can get a copy of the same ruu for download ?
and will this just update from the leaked ( possibly unfinished build ) to the official finished one ? or is there a chance it could be completely different in terms of architecture...
just bored... and curious... lol , thanks guys

It could be different but probably won't. We had that scare when I jumped the gun on 2 of the first three Eris leaks...but then I got root...but no you should be fine

Deleted post.

Currently leaked one is 2.18.605.3, and will NOT be the OTA from verizon. The one I was able to snag from verizon is 2.18.605.4, and is the current candidate.

Does the "Official" RUU become available after the release of the OTA? I stupidly updated to the GB Leak, not thinking through the ramifications of what would truly happen if this was not the final version. I'm coming from the OG Droid where such things were never a worry, but I fear I may have really ruined my chances at more updates, or the true update. Yes, I am aware that I was warned, yes I feel stupid for what I did...

According to this: http://support.vzw.com/pdf/system_update/incredible2.pdf
2.18.605.4 WILL be the OTA.

will upgrading via OTA break s-off when it is released, ie do we need to be running froyo in order to s-off?

I can't believe people still believe in that developer-not-official bull****. It was marked as a "developer version" only because it's available only as a RUU. And everything that was released by HTC is official.

i agree the gb ruu is official..but they released gb only to say "we released the gb update as u wished"..no more updates on that will come..is like a discontinued version...infact now they are releasing an ota that is going to patch the last official rom for the desire: froyo
Which will be most probably the last version as well.

I hope someone can post the radios as flashable zip. Gotta be patient hehe
I guess if u clear the Google services framework within app and press check for update... perhaps it'll work =]… if it doesn't the first time.. try 10 more times. It will say last checked on 1969 ... disregard that

Looks like it is rolling out (or at least starting to).
For anyone who has received it, would you mind looking in the log files in /cache/recovery and try and find the name of the update file (ending in .zip) please and post it in this thread. Thanks.

Just reading through the comments on the article, seems a couple people are getting (Much) better signal strength. Whatever they did it seems to have worked! (Maybe they just poured butter all over the radio code?)

Potentially! Are they comparing them to the leaked 4.0.4 radios? Doubtful since they upgraded and were presumably on 4.0.2 lol.
Either way, someone needs to find the images and make a flashable zip. I need something to do at work, nah mean?
So if I am running Liquid (4.04) will all I have to do is flash the new radios once they are available?

Yes. Radios are compatible with pretty much anything. They are separate from the rom, and do not even "stick" with a nandroid.

No, you are right -- you can't receive the update with a custom ROM, but a rooted stock ROM is perfectly fine. Bootloader lock/unlock makes no difference.

Updating a rooted Nexus to 4.1

Hey,
Since Google MAY gonna release 4.1 today. Is there a way to update the firmware to 4.1 without any big problems? Or should I wait for a Nightly release?
Thanks!
I'm kind of confused about your question because there is like three directions you're asking about. First of all, if you're asking if you can update your software to 4.1 as soon as it comes out without any problems, I don't see why not. Google may post their factory images on their site, which you can download and flash via ADB. Google may also just update OTA, in which case we need to wait for a leak, then someone will post it here on XDA. Otherwise you can wait until someone cooks up a clean 4.1 rom, in which case you can flash that straight through your recovery. By "nightly" I think of CyanogenMod, which will likely take a little longer than custom roms, so you're going to have to wait a little if you want a Cyanogen 4.1-based nightly.

If you're stock, just wait for the OTA notification or flash the new stock image/update file when Google posts it.
If you're on a custom ROM wait for their update or return to stock.

depends on how much stock u are
if u used some toolkits, it (or you manually) may have flashed an unsecured boot (kernel) image to give u full root even with adb..so your kernel may be not stock anymore and u need to reflash the stock one
if u got root (only superuser app and su binary) on the stock rom, stock kernel, stock recovery, stock radio and stock bootloader (no matter if locked or unlocked)..then u are ok

In this case, it does. Updates for mysidpr builds (i.e., builds for toroplus devices used by Sprint) do not come directly from Google, so they will certainly come after updates for yakju/takju and mysid builds...

Sorry Fabio, but as soon as the source code is released from the phone manufacturer, the devs can go to work. We don't have to wait for the provider to release the update. As per example: All three versions of the Optimus LTE (P930, SU640, and 6200) received ICS before the providers approved it. Source code leaks do happen.
If you want an official OTA update, then wait for the provider to approve it. I'm not holding my breath, especially if the device is built for use on an LTE network.

Yessir, you can have 4.2 on the VZW Gnex. Problem is, if you have to ask.
Go to the VZW dev forum, read the stickies, read them all. Find a 4.2 ROM, read at least the first few pages of the thread. If you have developed an understanding of all that you need to do to get 4.2, then good luck. If you read and still do not understand, then you need to keep reading until you do. If you keep reading and still do not understand, then you will want to just wait until it's made available OTA.
I got pretty good understanding of the process need to put a ROM on it. I'm gonna wait for the ota though. I'm pretty satisfied with 4.1 stock with an unlocked bootloader
