Please could someone help me?? I successfully rooted, s-off, etc etc flashed insertcoin and was very very happy with all working well until today...
I went to my phone and it had turned itself off. I turned it on and it just comes up with the Are you Serious screen and nothing else happens. It vibrates, turns off then the same screen comes on again. Am rather desperate as dont have a home phone and awaiting call from my son.....
What on earth has gone wrong?? It was working so well!
If anyone can help me, am very grateful

Do Full wipe, and reinstall the ROM
Oh blimey, thanks for replying! Feeling really panicked now... So, sorry to be pain, but do I go into recovery?
Thank You!!
Yes, and do all wipes
Yes recovery, to get here turn off your phone. Now hold vol- and power.
When you're in recovery do Full Wipe/Factory reset, cache and dalvik cache wipe.
Reflash ROM.
Btw. it wont broke itself, you probably flashed/installed something which caused this...
Oh thank you. Going to do that now.
Thank you very much. Have done it and now back on my phone!! I must have installed something dodgy but cant think what it was. Will now start the laborious process of installing all apps again....nevermind, at least I have a working phone thank god!
Thanks again!
Erm, having another problem. Trying to get into market and am getting alot "sorry, the application MarKet (process com.android vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Not sure whats happened? Should I re-flash insertcoin or do you think it could have problems and maybe I should try another?? If I do try another rom, do I still have to do a nandroid backup because this one is not working properly??
Thanks again
Well, perhaps try another Rom and give it a test? All is just by test and trials

Try fixing permissions from recovery, never had the problem but I have heard that is ment to fix fc issues
Also use titanium backup to backup your apps... so when you reflashing ROM you wont lose them.
About the market issue, try to clear cache and data for Market.app (Settings/Applications/All)
Everything working fine now.... thanks alot guys. Gave me a bit of a fright but am learning all the time!!

Wrong section.
But I honestly have no clue what is wrong. Especially if it isn't ROM specific.
Try flashing stock, and you are wiping dalvik cache too right?
could it have to do with titanium backup?

Try only backing up your apps and then flash a ROM. Restore the apps only. I got weirdness happening too when I tried to back up system data.
Hi guys, I was wondering if you ever got this issue resolved? Ive been having the same problem getting FCs everytime i try to add a new contact or edit existing ones. I am currently running Fresh 0.5.3 but already had the FC issue a while ago when running DC3.2. I was on bugless .4 before that but i dont remember trying to add a contact at that time so im not sure if i had the error then as well. I have tried wiping with both clockwork recovery as well as amon-ra as well as flashing roms with both but to no avail. I am at a loss as to what to try. Any new ideas? Thanks!
I'm having this issue as well with force close on my people app and all I have is LauncherPro. No rooting done on my phone.
Sorry to start a new thread. I have read the rules about posting and have searched for the last couple of days for an answer but can't find one.
I am unable to install ANY apps whatsoever and it is driving me crazy. I have an HTC Desire (obviously) and am using Pays ROM Froyo Sense v2.2 A2SD+ (updated just the other day). (And yes, I wiped everything like you are supposed to do, before and after the update.) I don't think the problem is with the ROM itself because the problems started before the update.
I am able to download apps from the market but it seems to get hung up on the installation itself. It never stops installing and I am not even getting a failed installation message.
I have gone to Settings>Applications>Manage applications and cleared the data and cache for all of the normal suggested apps and have even force closed a few. Nothing is working, even when I try to install .apk files which are located in the download folder of my SD card.
One strange thing I have noticed is that when I go to Settings>Applications>Manage applications, the amount of space being used never displays anything other than 'computing....' I know sometimes it can take a while for the size to be displayed but surely not an hour!
I have even restored the default/factory settings to see if that helped but nothing!!! grrrrr.....
I am reaching the end of my rope and would appreciate any advice offered. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this isn't a newbie mistake and thanks in advance for any help!
have you tried another rom see if the problem persists? it usuall only takes a minute for manage applications to find all my apps and i have looooooads also no problem with market, do a nandroid, and try another rom, if its still the same you can always restore your nandroid, i suggest maybe leedroid
Thanks so much for your reply! Was really hoping to avoid trying another ROM but I am going to give LeeDroid a try and hopefully that will sort out my app problem. Just finished downloading it, will flash and post back soon. Thanks again!

like i said do a nandroid, if leedroid dosent work then, you can just restore your backup and your rom will be exactly the same as it was b4 you flash leedroid
FIXED!!! Thank you so much!! Am happily running LeeDroid.
Just FYI: Usually, I have such a problem installing but I leave it (it shows nothing downloading). Upon restarting the phone (whenever), the apps automatically install.

I have been rooted for a while now and had bakedsnack 1.4 installed for about 2 months now. Everything was stable until a few days ago when it started rebooting randomly then much more often so I decided it was to time to update...went for Ava v9. After reseting factory defaults, wiping cache, wiping dalvik, I installed the rom. Immediate infinite loop reboot, tried this rom 2 more times then the newest baked snack then the plain rooted stock. All are infinite reboot loops...I have wiped numerous times now and can't seem to find a problem, I have updated my radios and everything trying to fix this to no avail. I could really use some help...here is a catlog of my bootup and 2 of the infinite reboots after a clean install.

devs, i'm not sure you get how serious this problem is, and how badly it needs fixing. i reboot any time i open a network connection. for example, when i boot up, even before htc sense loads, i reboot. i cannot stay up for more than 15 seconds. i have forcefully deleted all apps that even remotely might require data, and still somehow, i sync to my voicemail. boot up, pull down lock, reboot, stuck. plz help me i want to be able to use my phone.

Have you been able to get it downloaded? I just tried to dl it from megaupload again and it worked no prob.
Downloading it now, will try it out. Thanks!
download went fine. about to push and flash. wish me luck... i just want my evo back waaaaa
flashed it. first try, boot failed because of a pu fail. stuck in bootloader. tried agian, and worked fine. my phone is rebooting as we speak. lets see if it worked...
and the big question: should i stick with ava v9 or what other rom should i try? i have never tried fresh, and cyanogen is too unstable for me. i have pretty much only tried ava, omj, and cm. plz recommend the must tries etc. i'm not asking you to choose for me, just tell me what to try.
dk
SHOOT IT STILL WONT WORK! i booted just fine, and was able to set up just the google account. the second i hit finish for the google account only and it tried to sync contacts, reboot. please help me knowledgable people!
EDIT: once i rebooted, i dragged down unlock screen and BAM! reboot... sad me i just want my evo back

I had the EXACT same problem as you. Was the PU fail next to the boot line during the update? If so, then I think you've got bad blocks in your boot partition and I hate to say it but you might not be able to flash any custom kernels anymore. Once I finally got mine booted, the only kernel that worked was a stock one. I was able to flash Fresh, but HAD to keep the kernel stock. I ended up calling Asurion and filed a claim. Got my new evo today and am having no issues.

That sucks man. Do what I did, file an insurance claim and get a new phone. They ship it out next day.
same problem I'm having:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=808280
ok i think i finally have it. but now, what rom to use? please tell me. i might be going with the cm nightlies. but plz give your opinion. thanks for the stock pc...zip. tweetqit, thanks for letting me overrun your thread..ha
TO GET IT TO WORK, ONCE YOU ARE STUCK IN BOOTLOADER, JUST RE-UPDATE AND THE BAD BLOCKS WILL GO AWAY. OR AT LEAST THAT WORKED FOR ME.
Yup, failed for me the first time but worked the second. My phone was never the same after I went through that ordeal. No custom kernels worked, terribly sluggish performance, constant reboots. That's why I said f*ck it and had Asurion send me a new one.

what'd you do? what exactly did it fix? everything?
On first try, boot: fail-PU. I guess this is a common problem? pretty lame. Will post after I try again.
Ok so now that, that failed..how do I try it again? when I reboot into recovery it just checks the PC36IMG.ZIP and dumps me back to the bootloader without asking me to install it...
I've done what I think dkdude36 did [install PC36IMG] and did get PU fail, and now i'm stuck in HBOOT/BOOTLOADER as expected. Now I only have the few options in bootloader and don't know what to do. I've rebooted and gotten the bootloops then wen't back into bootloader and it loads PC36IMG but it doesn't give me the option to update again. Am I supposed to do something in order for it to give me that option again? If so, what? As of now, I'm stuck and am bricked (hopefully not permanently).

what if we run:
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase recovery
what will happen? will it prompt me to update with PC36IMG.zip as it did the first time?
OKAY! so i searched key words but couldnt find anything in particular under MT3GS... anyways, i flashed from cm7 nightly 60something to cm7.0.3. usually i dont have to wipe anything, everything transfers over fine. when i came to i was getting errors with my music app so i used clockwork manager to fix permission. although it went through the whole list, it comes up with an error to get privilages or something. i thought it was 7.0.3... luckly, i backed up my previous version so i decided to restore it so i wouldn't have to deal with all those errors. when it came to, now im getting the 'welcome to t-mobile... 'touch the android to begin' screen... only problem is im touching the android but nothing is happening. i wiped my data/cache/ext and it wont work. i even tried flashing 7.0.3 clean but still no avail. please someone help.
EDIT: nevermind... i got it... i just had to reflash the gapps... doyyyyyyyyyyyy. good morning everyone =P
uhhhmmm ok this is awkward... but the problem jus escalated. i was able to sign into my google account but now im getting errors with 'framework' or something and then the setup wizard FC on me?! i didn't even know that was possible.. looks like im in deep doodoo. help? please?
They clearly stated DO NOT FLASH 7.0.3 OVER THE NIGHTLIES. IT WILL HOSE YOUR SYSTEM.
Sorry for all caps but I had to get my point across. Try fix permissions and if that doesn't work, guess you gotta restore a nandroid or do a full wipe.
Yes it is very possible to have framework problems and setup wizard to crash. I could not tell you what causes it exactly. Have you tried redownloading all files you're attempting to flash? Bad downloads CAN cause such problems.

wow i dont know how to post from multiple quotes O_O
anyways... i figured it out. i ultimately was hoping to flash without wiping my data because i had data2ext enabled so wiping also cleans out the sdext.
anyways i did not know we couldn't flash over a nightly because rom manager doesn't support those kind of notes, thanks for the emphasis though.
also i believe it was a bad download, seeing how i downloaded directly from rom manager rather than on my laptop. i reflashed my nightly 55 and seems to work again. strangely reflashing 69 had the same setup wizard errors.
so thanks for the input.

Hope I didn't make you mad. I feel like an ass now, reading my post a few days later.
Sorry
I want to be sure to mention that prior to this incident phoenix was working flawlessly and I was loving it. Ok, so I put the Phoenix rom on my phone last week after a 3x3 wipe. I then changed some preferences and settings and synced contacts and then I saved a back up.
Today, I took the battery out of my phone to recharge it and I think that I didnt shut the phone down before I took the battery out so I am not sure if this is what caused the problem. So after I did that and rebooted, the phone function stopped working as I get the message "the application phone has stopped unexpectedly." I am also getting the same message when I click on the email as well.
So after this problem arised, I proceeded to go to cwm and wiped my phone 3x3 and then restored it to the state that I previously did a back up on when it was working good. However, after I did the restore I am still getting the same messages when i perform the email and phone functions.
I thought that the restore would have solved this problem. Why didnt it? How do i solve this problem and could taking the battery out without powering down the phone first cause this?
Ok, hopefully you had a nandroid made. If you did, wipe everything 3x, fresh install Phoenix, reboot, log in, power down, reboot recovery, wipe 3x and restore nandroid. Fresh installing a ROM gets rid of those errors that restoring a nandroid doesnt

Nope, not bricked. There are stages of fixes to try. First, boot to recovery and wipe cache and Dalvik 3x and reboot. If that doesn't work you will have to wipe everything and reflash the ROM. You will lose your setup unfortunately. That's why its crucial to make a nandroid when you have your setup all dialed in. To make a nandroid just boot to recovery, scroll to "Backup and restore" and select "Backup"
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
well,i made a back up in recovery (cwm) if that is what you meant. I already tried to 3x wipe everything that then restore the back up that i made at the time that I first flashed the phoenix rom. And when it booted i was getting the same fc messages.
I guess, i will try and follow the step by step you mentioned above and try and use my back up one last time. I am corrrect right?....you are talking about the back up that i use in cwm3.1 right?
My apologies for the misunderstanding on the def of nandroid. I thought that that was a "special" kind of back up you were referring to. Anyway, I did everything you said in terms of installing the fresh rom first and WALA-WORX! I will give ya a thanx. YOU DA MAN!
