Is this normal? I'm getting my sister in laws Evo back to stock form and in hindsight I probably should have ruu it to 3.70 and accepted ota from the but I didn't and went w 4.53. Everything took perfectly but pri is still the 1.77 I dropped in there last year. Phone is currently s-on. She hasn't gotten it back as it was ran over by a few cars and I just put it back together. She needs to reactivate it so will it update after activation or is it forever 1.77 until another ota drops which should bump it up?
No, RUUs don't update the PRI.
Really, there isn't much need to do so.
1.90 actually caused more problems [wake locks and such] than helped anything.

Ok, I decided to unroot to see if the PRI would go back to 1.4..I used the most recent RUU to unroot. I had to extract the RUU and rename the rom.zip to PC36IMG.zip push to sd and boot into the zip that way. Seemed to have success unrooting, but my PRI remained 1.34. Is there any way to get the PRI updated? If i found my MSL and did a factory reset would that work? Or think I can call sprint and play dumb and say I got a replacement from BestBuy and it has an older PRI than my first phone. Also will I get OTA's now? Think when Froyo is released it will update the PRI as well?
Thoughts?
Its been well known that unrooting does not give you back the 1.40 PRI version.
I don't see HTC/Sprint updating the PRI for FroYo but who knows... and yes now that you're unrooted, you will be able to get OTA updates again but on the same token, you're taking a gamble on never having root abilities again.
Man that sucks. I really feel my phone dosent perform like it did before root. Dont get me wrong, root has its perks but I would rather have my 3g speeds back.
I want to see some conclusive proof that the PRI is tied in with 3G speeds... I've yet to see it. In fact, my rooted Evo outperforms my friends' unrooted Evos most of the time by 50-100kbps...
The Evo just has a jacked up radio.
I unroot to factory stock 132.651.1 then i did automatically download until get 147.651.1. I did all updates and still PRI 134.003 and nothing. How i can fix to get 1.40?
If you are like me, a previous rooter who updated to the OTA Froyo and still have PRI 1.34 then here it is...
I just ran the ##786# with my MSL for a reset and the PRI updated to 1.40!!! I am not sure why it did because initially a few days ago it did'nt but today I just decided to take a chance and WHAAALAAAA!!!! This by no means is an attempt to gain a bounty or nothing to that nature...keep your money and update if you want to the latest of everything including PRI!!!
YAAAAYAYAYAYAYAAAAAA.....uh...now I wait for froyo root.
You are right. I just did it, and it was at 1.40_003. I was at the previous PRI and was using .6 (not rooted of course). I did copy PC36IMG.zip from the post on unrevoked forever and tried to flash it (seemed to be unsucessful). But when I did the reset it was at 1.40_003. I used the original 2.2 RUU file to get from .3 to .6 too. Don't know what step worked.
Heck, who knows, maybe on the reset and during the update phase it pulled it down? All guesses now, but I am happy.
Only problem is I got so excited and posted it all over this place...I might get shot!!! LOL!!!
seriously? This was posted at like 4pm yesterday by Goonzy
Excuse me? This thread was directed to non-rooted users stuck with PRI 1.34. I stumbled across this prior to reading any of the goonzy for rooted thread. I make no claims of discovery as I have said in my original thread posted over there.
This is where I am:
Im having a new problem now. I got as far as the downgrade last night, unrevoked forever, hboot 0.77, Firmware, 2.1update1, baseband 1.00.03.04.06, kernel, 2.6.29-cc1c2268, build number 1.22.605.0 CL161493 release-keys, software number 1.22.605.0, Browser WebKit3.1, PRI 1.28_008, PRL 40067, ERI Version 5
In my research last night doing this I would take the official OTA thru the phone via OTA. This did not happen. Also, from further reading today, some are saying Hboot 0.77 wont take the OTA via OTA... so...
At this point, I am beginning to think I could be in way over my head. Can someone tell me how to get my phone back to stock and at the most current update?
Thanks in advance.
Just a note. I returned both my wife's and my (work) phone to stock about a week ago. I have not yet recieved the update and she has. It's still being rolled out and (as far as I can tell from communication with VZW) could take up to a month to actually hit your phone.
I didn't even bother with my personal phone. CM6 goodness there.
Search the threads for an RUU that puts your software to 1.22.605.2 will probably have .79 hboot included. Try that. Or you can also search for a copy of the update.zip. But I believe you still need 1.22.605.2 to get that to work.

Will running the update from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=760068&highlight=exe update the PRI to 1.40, or is PRI strictly OTA?
No the RUU does not contain the PRI.
currently the only known way to update the PRI is one of the many methods on the forum involving the hands free activation. It is still very hit or miss. it also seems some methods work great for soem and not at all for others. I know it took me over 100 tries to finally get updated. I am not in an area where i gain much from it either. I am just a sucker who likes to know his phone is completly uptodate and that if i need to unroot for service reasons they will have no way of knowing now.
I was just thinking of doing the ruu or the ota to see if I could get the 1.40 back since Unrevoked 3.2 is out. Oh well.

Well if you need the PRI 1.40 then the best step is to flash a rooted 2.2 stock Rom and then apply the PRI update. You can use one of the "How to" PRI update from the Dev forum. There have been many success from users who use the "No wipe" method to update their PRI...
I appreciate all the help, and I appreciate not being flamed.
However, I have tried these methods, MANY times, including the newish" use fresh" rom with no success .
yea it is hit or miss. all i can say is if you are determined to get it is to keep trying it. like i said it literally took me over 100 tries using just about every method. i finally got it after trying the fresh method by just doing ##768# method without flashing any diffrent rom etc. the first time nothing i did a plain reset when i loaded back up 1.40.
it can be discouraging but if you keep at it eventually you will get it. just dont expect to do it 2-3 times on any given method and automatically have it work.
EDIT: repost
If you have a 1.47 evo or eariler it is a simple process to upgrade with out wiping data and maintain root. Although you will be running Sprints stock software, you will have total root nand and flash. Did it on two Evos last week. See my post on the thread below

I have a CDMA Desire from Cellular South. I rooted the phone several months ago using unrevoked. Over the last week, the phone has had very little service showing and it can not be used to make calls or anything else that would require a network. I took the phone in to have it check and the rep kind of busted me for having superuser in my applications. He tried to reprovision the service to the phone but it didn't work. So, I came home to try and unroot so it could be treated as a warranty issue.
My back up is apparently corrupt and will not open. After 6 hours of fooling with it, I found a RUU from Alltell that matched my Radio, Firmware, Model, and kernal. After running the RUU, I was able to secure the Cellular South OTA Update for 2.2. My question is how would I load the OTA now that I have RUU back out?
Here's what I'm running:
HBOOT 0.98
Microp 051e
Radio 2.05.10.08.11
Firmware 2.1 Update 1
Kernal 2.6.29-E3566335
PLEASE HELP!!! I would like to keep from paying for a new phone while this one is only 6 months old.
Thanks,
Stephen
