I did a quick search and didn't see this posted anywhere. I recently purchased the Motorola car dock from amazon. It comes with the splitting charger cable and audio out port. The phone charges perfectly but the audio out doesn't seem to work. I plugged it into the auxiliary port of my car but the sound still goes out from the speaker of my phone? Is there an option that I need to set or is it because I'm using CM7? I might try Aura later and see if I have the same problem I just wanted to see if anyone else was having this issue also...

It's CM7. Car dock audio out is built into the Blur framework as far as I understand it.
Ah that's what I thought. Damn...I don't wanna lose CM7 but at the same time I really would like audio out supported...decision decisions.

It's on the official bug list for the beta and the devs have accepted it. Meaning they are working to get it resolved. It's only a matter of time and considering how quickly they got this up and running it shouldn't take too long.
Where can I see the bugs that are currently being worked on and the ones that are resolved?

CM7 has dock audio setting if you drill down in the menus. Maybe the USB/audio out cable controller is proprietary because CM7 doesn't detect when it's put in or taken out of the dock. It's like the phone just thinks it's a regular power cable.
I just got my car dock today, so this bug came as an unpleasant surprise, but I'm very happy to have the camera working now, so I'll stick it out with the devs and hopefully this will be fixed in three revs or less too
Lol. My official atrix Car dock didn't detect on stock, even after I factory reset .
Oh, well. At least it charges.

It will work on Aura because it's based on the OEM Blur ROM. It'll be the same with Alien and any other pre CM7 ROMS, even the "Deblurred" versions because they just clear out certain apk's and not the base framework.
And CM7 will recognize the dock and start Car Dock automatically, it just does not have the audio out capability. Also some people are saying it only does a trickle charge not a rapid charge. I haven't tested that out yet but you may want to watch it.

I just flashed beta, and it does not detect dock at all. When I plug in the phone it behaves exactly as though I plugged in a regular power cord. I did a factory reset and cleared the cash, I even tried flashing a different kernel... Am I missing something?
Only thing I can think of is to make sure you are using the cable that came with the car dock and not another charging/sync cable. I double checked mine just this morning and Car Home starts when I place it in the dock.
Ok heres what im wanting to do...
Hack up a micro-usb cable to in exhange replace a car dock... or make life cheaper yet harder on myself. I see the motorola car dock has Micro-usb out to a usb male and a 3.5mm jack. is this something one can do by cutting up a usb cable?? just a thought. maybe.... ? theres only black/yellow/red/green/white/ground out of a usb correct? ground and red are power.....

I understand that and I have cyanogen mod which has the cardock app. I'm looking to make my own hardware cardock. I have seen people use USB and magnets and such on other phones but what I'm trying to attempt is to lose 1 cord hanging from the phone.
Is it possible to charge phone and play music out of just the micro USB port of the phone. I hate having wires running out of the top and side. Its a hassle to plug in two if I can do away with one.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
you'll have to find out what is triggering the phone to output analog audio over the USB lines. I'm assuming, there is a voltage put on pin5 of the USB (ID pin) telling the phone. "You are in a cardock. Load cardock application. Route analog audio to the USB pins". Again, I'm ASSuming it is using the data +/- lines as L/R audio outs.
I have 0 proof of any of this. Just as an EE, how I might do it. In short, it'll probably cost you more to build one, than to just buy the official on off ebay/amazon.
Also, since you're using Cyanogen, as am I -- with cardock and desktop dock, Cyanogen does NOT hve the ability to route audio through USB yet. You'll have to use the 3.5mm jack or bluetooth(?).
Ohhh that sucks... I'm sure cyanogenmod will fix that soon. Guess ill order the official. My main issue is I'm going to run this behind the dashboard so no hanging wires. Also not taking up my cigarette lighter. I didn't want to cut up the original cardock but I can manage. Thanks. Ill keep looking around.
It doesn't have to activate car dock to satisfy me but Audio out of USB is a must

Does the Motorola atrix car dock only plug into the USB port of the phone or does it use the HDMI port as well?
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
Only the USB not the HDMI.
You can put all the resistors you want, but cyangen as a ROM doesn't do it. Otherwise, it should work with the official one. I doubt it will work with a generic one, or a homemade one.
If this feature is a must for you, then go to a Pi variant of the official rom. That works great. I had like 17-18 hours on a charge. With 8 of those streaming pandora at work.
I froze the CarDock application on my Pi rom, and everything still worked (audio through USB.)
If you want usb cables, www.monoprice.com.
As for the HTC thing, make sure it is not a properitary connector to HTC phones, like the motorola docks are to motorla phones. Ie) The Resistor on pin 5 of the HTC one might be 100k, while the one in the motorola one might be 200k.
Seriously, its easier to get the official one. Theres only one cable from the dock (microusb) Which splits into a USB-A and 3.5mm. And you can get extension cables from monoprice.
Good luck.
Wow... thanks. I meant to mention I have an extended battery so the phone is bigger than stock. And I wanted the ability to buy a new phone and keep my DIY Dock installed. But HTC and Motorola differ grrr.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
You found out for sure? I'm not saying there ARE, but they MIGHT be.
That sucks man. The battery pack probably won't fit on the cardock, it MIGHT on the regular dock. But the car dock has a back to it, and a latch that latches on the phone side. I HATE cases, and prefer skins. I had to trim the side of the skin from corner to corner on the USB side, just so it fit into the docks...little room for anything larger than stock phone.
I suggest...hacking up the official cardock or maybe the regular dock (instead of one cable, it has two jacks -- a microusb and a 3.5mm), and using a Pi-rom.
Ok so my goal to achieve is.. a permanent hidden wire behind the dash.
Kind of blows motos differ from HTC.. puts a kink...
I also hate cases but! With this extended battery my phone EASily lasts 2 days with decent usage. Like navigation all weekend. I had my stock back and battery in today with moderate use like Pandora at work and I was 10% by lunch. Possibly because I wiped the battery stats this morning from the Tom change. Allso I hear there is a battery drain in cyanogenmod.
I'm going to search up the pi-rom
I will most likely sucker up and buy the moto dock and use my stock battery :-(
I hate to cut the dock up when u can always resale it with the phone with the attrix 5g comes out lol

I am unlocked.. installing the recovery is no issue....
but the radio update im lost. there is no real instructions on usage.
I download the ....91 radio from the link.
"YOU REQUIRE TENFARS UNLOCKED CWM"
so i have to use tenfars cwm, flash radio...
flash romracers recovery...
than i can flash cherrypi?
Why cant everyone just make compatible things with cwm recovery from rom manager
I got it installed. Not too thrilled it seems like a themed stock rom. I will deal with it until progress on cyanogen goes further
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
you have to remember this particular rom came out right after the bootloader unlocked. before Cyanogen even started.
All there was was 4.5.91 so every custom rom was based on that.
It was also done before a lot of the other clockworkmod recoveries were around... tenfars was the only viable one at the time. Hell, I even tried CWM's and it didn't work for C7 either. I still had to go to romracers recovery .
It is a themed and somewhat debloated 4.5.91, says so right in the description.
Extremely stable. Use Titanium Backup to freeze some other processes and you should easily be able to get 17hours on one full charge with 8hours of that streaming pandora over HSPA (stock battery). I do that all the time at work. And to top it off, the dock functions WORK.
I also changed from the launcher it comes with to ADW...to give it more of a stock feel.

I've been running π crust lately. It's pretty good. Not a fan of most of the themed roms.
I actually restored back to c7 because my home button quit working.
I noticed battery performance right off the bat with pi crust. I liked having blur but not logging in lol. The sticky notes from it are nice.
17 hours on stock battery with 8 hours streaming Pandora sounds nice. I actually stream 3hours of I heart radio in the morning than switch to Pandora.

Does anyone know of a foldable/rollable USB keyboard (presumably silicone) that would have USB 2.0 and work with Hash's 3.0 kernel/OTG?
I like this for the price, but am a noob

Roll-up keyboard working fine here through powered USB hub. Just as accurate as can be expected with these crappy things, but it works like it should.
Edit: Thanks for mentioning this otherwise I would've completely forgotten I had one. Awesome.
Edit: To further clarify, if it matters my USB hub is a multi-TT hub, which was difficult to find since most manufacturers don't even advertise the feature. I needed one for MIDI latency reasons. If I remember correctly it has something to do with 2.0 devices on the hub receiving sufficient power and not getting dropped to 1.1?

I'm gonna go ahead and say yes, simply because it's a full-size keyboard. It does take more effort than a standard keyboard to register presses being as flimsy as it is, but when my PC was still up and running I started to get used to it being my only full keyboard (I'm typing this from my laptop) and I got pretty quick with it. Trouble here is, aftering getting my Fire I'm pretty damn fast on an Android keyboard so my judgment is possibly skewed. I say go for it. It's really the only portable option aside from those little Bluetooth keyboards, if anyone even has those working yet. I also got my powered USB hub to register my flash drive so that's promising.
How exactly does a usb keyboard work with the KF?
Powered USB hub, all the way.

I couldn't get enough power straight through my adapter or cable, so I used a powered USB hub. I rebooted the Fire, then the thing just worked. I'm really excited. I just hope the port provides enough power on its own for one of those tiny Bluetooth dongles. If not, I'm fairly certain there was a discussion thread here about trying to ramp up the voltages so hopefully they'll figure that out and integrate it into future releases. I really would like to be completely untethered.
I got a wireless foldable silicone keyboard which is water resistant. It comes in 5 colors. Black (which you posted), white, blue, green and pink.
You can get one at Silicone Keyboards
Hi all,
I am on vacation and got bumped into, causing me to drop my less than a week old TMo G3 after I ordered my screen protector and case. Lovely, right? Well it caused a nice giant crack in the screen and the LCD to become unresponsive. I pulled the battery and restarted, and it told me my LCD was damaged and said to use volume and power now as manual controls. Only issue with that is I have knock code on, so I cant get into the system at all.
Luckily I am rooted, and have TWRP installed. I also have titanium. I would love to get a backup of my apps somehow (I had not made a backup yet, silly me) or better yet a nandroid if somehow possible to simply restore when I get my replacement (Tried to use power keys to boot into recover, wouldn't even turn off though). I have my SD in to hold my other files, luckily.
I am on a mac and can set up/execute adb if needed.
I really appreciate any help you can give, thanks so much everyone.
Fun Fact- My G3 didn't survive a 1.5ft fall
UPDATE: I will be trying to do the OTG mouse method, but another method is preffered so I dont have to buy anything and can do my backups more immediately.
UPDATE 2: Scratch everything, USB port appears to be broken. Cant get it to charge or recognize on my computer.
Mine was 4 days old when it fell and cracked the screen. If you have an OTG cable plug it in and plug in a USB mouse. You will be able to control the phone with the mouse.

I'd say that's doubtful with the screen being unresponsive. If it's anything like mine was it wouldn't recognize any touch input anywhere. USB mice are dirt cheap. Buy the cheapest one you can find at Wal-Mart, Target, etc.

I keep my tablet in it's case in easel mode 90% of the time, and watch hours and hours of youtube, so I need to be able to charge the device while I'm using it. So I end up with the tablet upside down to allow that, which then puts the volume and power buttons on the bottom. Very inconvenient. Is there a valid purpose for it being there that I am just not seeing? My hubby's tablet has it on the side, which just seems to make more sense. I'm curious...do you use your tablet differently, making it not an issue for you?
I'm just not annoyed by having the power button and volume rocker on the bottom when I have to plug it in. Every Android device I've owned has had the USB port on the bottom.

Due to YouTube videos having such a huge range of volume difference from one video to the next, I am constantly adjusting the volume. I can see if I mainly listened to music or audiobooks, then it wouldn't be such an issue. I've even looked for a nice low profile 90 degree usb cable connection that would allow me to have the power plugged in with the tablet right side up. No luck so far. I've even thought about building a stand/platform combo with a recess in the right place to give the usb cable a space to reside.
I agree, and had the same problem with the Galaxy Tab 2. However, that one used a proprietary cable... This might not be a perfect solution either, but at least for this tablet you can buy a different usb cable with a right angle connection that would be less obtrusive in the case...
