some like fruit ninja and angry bird goes to sd card but liek this my internal memery will be full
is it not possible to send app to sd card strange internal memory is less
plz if some 1 can guide
thanx
Did you create an ext partition on your sd card?
Did you check the /sd-ext/app directory? Thats where the apps are installed.

Try A2SD GUI from market, set default install location to A2SD.
Also you can try movik dalvik cache to SD, will free up 100mb+ of internal memory.
you can use "a2sd" to move the dalvik-cache to sd card.
1. open terminal emulator
2. type su
3. type a2sd help will give all the commands
a2sd check - to check the support of the SD EXT
a2sd reinstall - Moves free and paid apps to the ext2/ext3/ext4
partition on your secure digital card. Removes
the No A2SD flag file.
a2sd cachesd - to move dalvik cache to sd card
for rest of the commands refer below link

Hey guys Im running LeeDroid rom.
I wanted to get a2sd to work, so I partitioned my SD via Rom manager with 512mb EXT3/0 swap
I titanium backuped all my apps/data. Transfered the folder to my deskop then did
the partition part via ROm Manager. When that was done I batch > restore apps and data.
My internal memory on the phone still says 30mb available ?
SD & phone storage is as follows:
SD:
Total space: 6.92 GB
Avail Space: 6.90GB
Internal Phone Storage: 34.25MB
Did I do something wrong ? How I know if my apps are on my SD card? Also if they are am I suppose to have more Internal Phone Storage?
Update: Under manage Apps > On SD card .... There is no apps what so ever there so must of done something wrong :S
Thanks !
how many apps do you have? with apps2sd it still uses some internal memory and some cache so internal memory will drop
According to titanium I have 22 user apps 148 data. But like I said under manage apps,on SD there is nothing. So prob did something wrong. How can I check if my SD is partitioned properly with a 512mb. Or even if a2sd is working.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
22 apps seems like internal memory is being used and not apps2sd
heres how to check if its working
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=677073
it can be done using connectbot app from market
open connectbot and use local
then type
su
ls -l /data
this should list the top 2 items as:
lrwxrwxrwx root root 2010-04-28 22:54 app-private -> /system/sd/app-private
lrwxrwxrwx root root 2010-04-28 22:54 app -> /system/sd/app
ls -l /system/sd/app (will list apps on installed to your SD Card)
Awesome found my problem lol. I didn't have a2sd installed. I assumed it came with the Rom,just read and its optional and must be flashed.
Now is there a away to see if I partitioned correctly with a ext3?
Also do I back up apps and data or just apps.
Also how do I put my davlik cache on my SD or just put the apps.
Sorry first time doing all this LOL.
Thx for the help.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
So I installed a2sd.
Now my available internal phone memory is 125MB ... Is this right ?
Also under applications> manage apps> on SD nothing shows there is this normal ?
I thought that I would show all the apps.
Pretty sure its all installed properly. Because yesterday there was only 30mb of interal storage.
Just wanted to confirm if I should see apps under "on SD" in manage apps.
thanks

Your big mistake in my opinion was when you restored the Titanium backup. This not only restores apps (to their original location!) but also restores system data, some of which may not be compatible with Froyo and A2SD+
I recommend you do a factory reset/full-wipe including davlik cache, then check free memory at next reboot (before restoring anything).
With EXT3 and A2SD+, you should have 130MB+ free in phone memory.
If you get 130MB+ free, then don't restore the backup this time, but instead re-install all apps from the market manually.
Assume you have an 8GB SD card? The fact you have 6.92GB free on SD and not 7.5GB, suggests your 512MB ext3 partition is there, and probably working fine.
Sounds right as most people are getting 135mb after a fresh install with that rom.
Also try Quick System Info and in there it will give you a reading of the A2SD+ memory being used.
I think the way A2SD+ works is to trick the phone (with shortcuts to the programs on SD) into thinking its on the internal memory so maybe that's why they don't show up as installed on SD.
Hi,
I'm using OpenDesire 4.0.34 and have partitioned my sdcard to have 3 partitions:
1 - FAT32 14GB
2 - EXT3 512MB
3 - SWAP/CACHE 32MB
Now I have one question:
I have enabled the "Allow application moving" setting in Settings->CyanogenMod settings->Application settings and selected Install location: Internal the same screen.
My question is: I've installed a bunch of apps I often use and they used to leave me with only 19MB free in internal phone memory. Now it shows free internal memory around 120MB?! I've checked all the apps in the Manage applications and they are on the phone (at least it says so). I've mounted /sd-ext in recovery and all the apps are there...
Can anyone explain me what's goin' on here?
Thanks for your help!
Uhm... you do know that the partition of an ext3 sd-ext system is exactly to provide greater storage space for your applications, don't you?!
Guess not...
The /sd-ext is the mount point of my ext3 partition on the sd card?
Anyway, I didn't move any app to sd card (at least explicitily).

When you use Ext3 partition youll get "A2SD+" and both your internal memory and your Ext3 partiton will become your new "internal" space on phone. So if the setting is set to "internal" the apps will go to ext3 and internal phone memory.
The internal phone memory counter however only show how much space you have on the internal phone memory where only small parts of the apps is installed.
I just removed my sdcard to see what would happen and all my apps are gone.
As such I assume they are all on the sdcard...
So when using the ext3 partition, how can I choose if an app is installed to the phone memory or to the sdcard? Is this possible at all?
Also, when I go to manage applications, I can "move to sd card" any app, but what does this do then?
I'm a bit confused...
Moved to Q&A as not development.
Please do not make new threads in development to ask questions

you are getting apps2sd confused with the native android move to sd function!!, when you create an ext partition and use a rom that supports apps2sd, the developer has used a script that point the device to the /sd-ext as the INTERNAL STORAGE location, where as if you use the move to sd function in android, the apk's are move to the Androidsecure folder in the root of your sd card, as aposed to being stored in /data/app
I think I've got it...
On an a2sd enabled rom, I'm not required to do anything in order to install apps on the sdcard.
The move to sdcard button is the native android method to move apps to the sdcard.
I got confused because in OpenDesire in the Settings->CyanogenMod settings->Application settings there is an option to allow application moving, but all this does is enable me to move any app to the .android_secure using the move to sdcard button. It's got nothing to do with a2sd, right?
Thanks for your help!
Hey guys,
So I just finished partitioning my SD card, upgraded ext 2 to ext 3, reflashed the latest Fresh rom, and then tried downloading and installing some apps.
However, when I checked my internal memory and SD card memory usage, my internal memory is the one that goes down.
Does DT app2sd not work automatically?
Did I miss a step?
Thanks!
Looks like this is the answer:
a2sd cachesd (move dalvik to sd card)
a2sd cachesdreset (move dalvik to sd card and clears contents of dalvik-cache)
a2sd cachepart (move dalvik to cache partition)
a2sd cachepartreset (move dalvik to cache partition and clears contents of dalvik-cache)
Where do I type this in? And how do I verify I have DT installed?
Thanks!
I use an app called 'A2SDGUI', its easier than typing commands. Simple interface too. Check it out.
We're comin from a pure power source.

If the kernel and the ROM support A2SD the only command you should need after partitioning the SD card is a2sd reinstall which will move the apps to the SD card intermediately and then reboot the device. The commands can be entered via terminal emulator right on the phone (remember to su first) OR using a computer and using adb shell.
so i have a2sd all set and what not now i was wondering in advanced setting under applications should i have to Install Location set to Automatic or External??
What rom you using?
An enviousOG
Set it to automatic, but also, go to terminal, and type:
SU
a2sd install
Let it do it's thing, and then any apps you install will go to the SD Card, unless they have data that needs to be internal, ie. widgets, etc....
Also, you can save a lot of internal space by typing in terminal
a2sd cachesd
Which will move your dalvik-cache to the SD card, supposing your card is a 16GB or an 8GB and isn't almost full
I partitioned my sd card(4gb) and I still have only 30mb of internal storage and i partitioned 1 gb. What is happening? can i somehow unpartition sd card? Or do i need to find some app or something?
Install an a2sd script, like mounts2sd, or flash a rom that has such a script integrated.

you should activate a2sd scripts using a terminal emulator
su
install a2sd
the above methods can work, but you can't flash them all...and you need to know what they actually do...
@OP first we need to know what rom you're running, because it may (and probably does) have an A2SD script already built in.
we also need to know what hboot you're on, because you can gain more internal memory by being on the right hboot...
after you partition, depending on your a2sd script, your phone won't always see your internal memory as "internal + sd-ext" partition, but your apps should be moved to sd-ext automatically.
further reading here. also recommend 'diskusage' app to browse your partitions.
also, this assumes that your have partitioned your sd card properly, use gparted or 4ext recovery only (NOT minitool partition wizard or clockworkmod recovery, uninstall rom manager if you have it)
