Hey guys,
So I just finished partitioning my SD card, upgraded ext 2 to ext 3, reflashed the latest Fresh rom, and then tried downloading and installing some apps.
However, when I checked my internal memory and SD card memory usage, my internal memory is the one that goes down.
Does DT app2sd not work automatically?
Did I miss a step?
Thanks!
Looks like this is the answer:
a2sd cachesd (move dalvik to sd card)
a2sd cachesdreset (move dalvik to sd card and clears contents of dalvik-cache)
a2sd cachepart (move dalvik to cache partition)
a2sd cachepartreset (move dalvik to cache partition and clears contents of dalvik-cache)
Where do I type this in? And how do I verify I have DT installed?
Thanks!
I use an app called 'A2SDGUI', its easier than typing commands. Simple interface too. Check it out.
We're comin from a pure power source.

If the kernel and the ROM support A2SD the only command you should need after partitioning the SD card is a2sd reinstall which will move the apps to the SD card intermediately and then reboot the device. The commands can be entered via terminal emulator right on the phone (remember to su first) OR using a computer and using adb shell.

have you partitioned your sd card correctly?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=SD_card_partitioning
check your roms original thread to see what sort of partition you need.
which ROM do you have... and was A2SD+ part of the ROM, or sth you added?
I think I read somewhere that some A2SD+ implementations don't move the Dalvik cache over to SD. The (easiest) method to add dalvik to SD likely depends on the A2SD implementation.
Use S2E , download it from Market.
thanks.
what is better for a2SD, ony ext3 or ext3 and swap???
The a2sd script in Cool's AceS v1 does move the dalvik cache to the sd card, so most likely the card isn't formatted correctly. I suggest you use gparted or a similar tool to format your card like this: first the FAT partition, then the ext 2/3 one (note that some roms require you to have an ext 4 partition, but this is not the case of AceS; anyway, make sure you read the thread thoroughly before flashing). Also, make sure the ext partition is no larger than 2048 MB (i.e. 2 GB), since you might experience market problems. Swap is not used by most roms you'll want to flash these days, so don't worry about it too much, unless the thread mentions so.
Just to mention, S2E is only for cyanogen mod, as it's stated in the app's description, so don't use it with other roms (which have other a2sd scripts). Also, before formatting, don't forget to backup your data
Good luck!
Warm up
Hello guys!
i'm new here just want to say that it's probably the best site for modding.
I have a desire with Ginger sense ROM.
Link2sd is free on the market. Uses ext and fat partitions. I have link2sd on my Kyocera Zio m6000 which only has a total of 180mb in data and I have 137mb free. Link2sd allows you to create a symbolic link for app data dalvik-cache and lib files of the app you want to move to SD. Plus with the symbolic links you get to keep your Widgets.

Dalvik Cache will take up space on "Internal storage" by default on some A2SD + ROMs, but it can be moved
You can move this by running "terminal emulator" from the market and typing:
Code:
su
a2sd cachesd
or with adb:
Code:
adb shell
a2sd cachesd

please note that davebugyi's suggestion only works if you're using the Darktremor a2sd script
Can someone please tell me how to clean up all the memory on my phone? I have moved all my apps to the SD card and it still shows that my phone memory is about full. My can I do to clear out all the unnecessary stuff and get my phone memory down?
Options:
download Cache Cleaner NG.
Go into Recovery and wipe the Cache and Dalvik Cache
Don't use the stock Froyo apps to SD method, instead use the Darktremor method posted below. Make sure you move the cache to sd by typing a2sd cachesd in terminal emulator. Also, it is recommended that your SD card is Class 4 or higher.

Thank you, I will give it a try!
Just a thought....but Dalvik Cache can be cleaned up in Titanium Backup as well. Not sure to what extent and how good of job it does though.
Maybe someone can comment a bit further on this.

Did you create an ext partition on your sd card?
Did you check the /sd-ext/app directory? Thats where the apps are installed.

Try A2SD GUI from market, set default install location to A2SD.
Also you can try movik dalvik cache to SD, will free up 100mb+ of internal memory.
you can use "a2sd" to move the dalvik-cache to sd card.
1. open terminal emulator
2. type su
3. type a2sd help will give all the commands
a2sd check - to check the support of the SD EXT
a2sd reinstall - Moves free and paid apps to the ext2/ext3/ext4
partition on your secure digital card. Removes
the No A2SD flag file.
a2sd cachesd - to move dalvik cache to sd card
for rest of the commands refer below link

Does anyone know any scripts for apps to sd just so that i can force cache to sd and free up some internal space?
What about using cache2sd.
It moves your dalvik cache to your SD card and frees up soon much internal memory?

I thought you had to have a script flashed to enable that?
Installation:
create a EXT3 partition in your sdcard using partition tool.
1.Download and copy to sdcard.
2.Install it via Recovery.
3.Factory reset your phone(Settings->Privacy->Factory Data Reset)
If you want to keep your previous application:
1.Download and copy to sdcard.
2.Install it via Recovery.
3.Connect your phone to ADB and type as below:
adb remount
adb shell
a2sd reinstall
Restart your device.
You can see all application under /sd-ext/app.
Move Dalvik cache files to the ext3:
adb remount
adb shell
a2sd cachesd

Never tried it in terminal but i don't see why not, give it a go! btw you will need doomlords custom kernel with init.d support for this to work, it's from the arc section and i havent tried it on 2.3.4 yet
Will it be a help if you use Link2sd? Its free on appmarket..
Ive tried it and had no problem
It only moves new and existing apps to the ext3 partition I made. Not system ones just to be safe. After removal of bloatware my internal memory is intact and stable in 250mb free, all consisting of system files. Apps are all on the ext partition. Not having any slowdown at all.
im using 16gb class 4 sd card with 900mb as ext
so i have a2sd all set and what not now i was wondering in advanced setting under applications should i have to Install Location set to Automatic or External??
What rom you using?
An enviousOG
Set it to automatic, but also, go to terminal, and type:
SU
a2sd install
Let it do it's thing, and then any apps you install will go to the SD Card, unless they have data that needs to be internal, ie. widgets, etc....
Also, you can save a lot of internal space by typing in terminal
a2sd cachesd
Which will move your dalvik-cache to the SD card, supposing your card is a 16GB or an 8GB and isn't almost full
