bootanimation also animated:
PS: Extract attached files with winrar.

I tried it. First downanimation didn't work.
But I changed permissions on it and then everything was fine.
Permissions must be set for bootanimation.zip and downanimation.zip like this :
Owner : Read-Write
Group : Read
Others : Read
Use Root Explorer to change permissions.
Thanks for Black HTC Splashscreen. I love it.

easy replace for Virgin US
Get your favorite bootanimation.zip... Rename it to Sprint_bootanimation.zip... Backup current /system/customize/resource/Sprint_bootanimation.zip [rename it to Sprint_bootanimation_orig.zip or something]... Drop your new boot animation into aforementioned directory [you may need es explorer w root or root explorer to mount rw]... And you're set.
Files to edit:
Sprint_bootanimation.zip ... for boot up
Sprint_downanimation.zip [need to fix permissions] ... for shut down
(Couldn't get the audio files to work right)
No need to flash the P...zip through hboot; sounded risky to me anyway.
I added a marvel boot [but it's way too large to keep] check it out at : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18404109&postcount=1

works great on my htc wildfire s s off virgin mobile....i deleted and backup the boot and down animation from virgin mobile then renamed the new one sprint

I'm currently running cm7 and i really like the boot animation of it.
Can I just flash the downanimation and the PG76IMG.zip for changing the htc screens to black?
Just want to be sure

The PG76IMG.zip takes care of the boot splash.

Could someone probably provide the original boot animation in black?
The other two worked - thanks especially for the boot screen in black. Never seen that before !

your xda link is messed up Just a heads up

Thanks!!! Awesome Boot and Down Animations!

Hey, I'm getting "You cannot paste here because the file system is read-only."
What should I do? :S
I'm using Root Explorer.

At the top of your window click Mount R/W

For those of you who wish to change the audio - I was able to make a couple of custom mp3's called:
VMU_Power_Down_48_24.mp3
VMU_Power_Up_48_24.mp3
I placed them in the resource directory with the custom:
Sprint_bootanimation.zip
Sprint_bootanimation.zip
...and then changed the permissions -rebooted and had instant relief from the horrid "Virgin Mobile" jingle with the stock boot animation and sounds.
This will only work with Virgin phones, obviously.

Try putting it in the system/media folder.
If the data/local folder doesn't exist, create a folder called local and put it in there. That should work.
If you are running on windows, try flashing with our android pc suite>>
You can also backup and reflash your current bootanim easily.
@Six6Sicks: Nice bootanimation
Still can't get it to work. Idk what I'm doin wrong. Blah.

What file explorer are you using?
You need one with root access.
nvm this post...
i got it tnx to che123
i got iti got iti got iti got iti got iti got it
if this works, i dont know what im going to do. i might yell. might scream. i dunno.
So much easier just doing
Adb push (locationofzip)/bootanimation.zip data/local
Its nice . i always wondered if moving jpegs could work as a bootanimation, but i was going to feel stupid to ask lol. This just opened a completely new world of bootanimations now.
Use ES file explorer, go to setting> root options> root explorer. Copy .zip to /data/local
I'm trying to move the boot animation from sdcard to the system. But for some reason I get a message, something to this effect, "this function not allowed by system". I'm doing this through file managers. Don't have adb set up at work (at home either ).
Is there something else I can try. Or a reliable file manager. The one suggested in this thread is not coming up in a search through the market.
When are you going to release full screen animations?
Will they be landscape?
Which ones are you going to make full screen?
Can you make this one full?

How to get rid of HTC boot

Ideally I really want to install the Droid Bionic boot animation but I can't even get rid of the HTC boot screen. Does anyone know how??
What rom are you on? Okay, well anyway, how I did it off the top of my head was to place the bootanimation.zip file from the bionic in system/customize/resource and back up the old file with the same name. I renamed it bootanimation.zap to make in inactive then I pasted the bionic one in that folder. You still have the htc splash screen maybe, but you should at least have the bionic boot screen. Feel free to hit the thanks if it works.

Any other ideas?

If your apps wont let you write in a read-only you may have to re-Superuser your apps.
EDIT: I'm adding a quick tut in the OP
THANK YOU! In the end, I had to also copy the bootanimation.zip and rename the VZW_bootanimation to .zap, then rename the Bionic one I copied to say VZW_bootanimation.zip.
Still have the cheesy HTC screen, and now I'm going to try and get the audio file you posted in there as well. Can you turn the audio off so that it only makes a boot sound when you want it to?

[Tutorial] Sense 3.0 lockscreen with changeable apps in lockscreen

This lockscreen consumes very little amount of RAM compared to other ported sense 3.0 lockscreens, works on stock rom or other roms. Please follow instructions carefully:
requirements: S-Off, Rooted
1.] In Root explorer copy attached htclockscreen.apk and rosie.apk
2.] Go to system\app and delete htclockscreen.apk and htclockscreen.odex / and rosie.apk and rosie.odex, be sure to delete them or move to sdcard or it won't work, also rename won't work.
3.] paste my htclockscreen.apk and rosie.apk to system/app folder.
4.] then set permission on both files with the following:
1.read, write
2.read
3.read
5.] reboot then see new lockscreen, then click personalized then you'll see lockscreen settings to change icons.
6.] If lockscreen not changed reboot 2nd time then it will work.
Hope you all success.
PS: Extract files with winrar. Also disable fastboot in Power settings when reboot otherwise turn off manually then on.
Good job.
I've installed apps like you said and it works.
I'm freshly rooted n S-offed Could you provide some screenshots ?
Is there chance to port ALL sense 3.0 ?

Strange...
I copied both files and everything works, except that everything from Rosie is now back in english while my phone is set up in NL (dutch).
Going back to my non changeable 3.0 lockscreen...
Is there a way to change size, font or color of the hour ?
I'd prefer a bigger one with another font type.
Hello,
I am trying to use this.. I am using HTCH wildfire S, android Gingerbread 2.3 with HTC sense 2.1. my device is unlocked and rooted.. I installed root explorer then tried to delete files but it is saying u cannot be deleted files because the file permission is read only i even cant change permission of Rosie.apk etc files..

The screen shots seems fishy.
You said replace htclockscreen.apk , while the scrrenshots are of htcsenselauncher 3.0 ?
How did this happen ? Wil this method work if the sense launcher is Sense 2.0 ?

[Tutorial] Make your own Splash Screen for Wildfire S

Hi Wildfire S users,
Today I'm going to teach you how to create Splash screen or the image that comes
before bootanimation.
1. Download the tool in the attached and extract it using any zip manager
2. Download PG76IMG.zip as base file for creating splash flashable
3. Make an image or resize and crop any image, it should be 320 width, 480 height. Save it as 24bit BMP. I'm not sure JPG will work but I always choose BMP to be sure.
4. In the tool folder you just extracted open CreateG1Splash.exe then click open choose your edited image then click convert.
5. a file mysplash.rgb565 is created just rename it to splash1.nb0 then open my attached PG76IMG.zip with any zip manager like winrar,winzip or 7zip. then drag the splash1.nb0, thats it.
6. Now put the file in the root of your memory card then flash through Hboot. by fully turning off phone then holding volume down then power.
7. It will ask you to update just follow instructions after that reboot. You'll see your new splash.
Here is a sample:

let me guess.......only for people with s-off????
A handy guide
It seems quite different on WFS compared to other Android phones. For example, on my DHD you convert your .bmp to .img and then flash via ADB as follows:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash splash1 splash1.img
fastboot reboot
You can also use Android Flasher if you don't feel comfortable using ADB.
I wonder if this will work with WFS?
Found another tool
Your input image shoud be 320 * 480 pixels!!!

Great tool. I've made a splash screen also.
I've the original rgb565 contained also so if it doesn't work, maybe another one can create a working zip.

Hit thanks when you like! And download!!!
If someone wants to make a boot animation, i've added a bunch of jpg files in the same style.
Can't make it myself sorry. If you've made it, post it here or give it to me so i can include it.

Does this method work with HTC unlocked phones? I'm running CM7.2 by alquez and have CWM installed and rooted.
Edit: I don't think it works with HTC unlocked phoned. Damn, I was excited about it.
anyway to revert back to original splash screen and bootanimation
To get original splash screen, you could Google the image, and then create it using the instructions in the first post.
Also original animations could be sourced via search, however changing the splash screen does not affect the boot animation, but I'd advise that you back things up before deleting them in the future.

[BOOTANIM] How to create a personal boot animation using any music video!

Difficulty: EASY!
Time: Approximately 10 minutes
Tools Req: PC & HTC ONE
This script takes an MP4 file, and uses FFMpeg to zoom and crop the video to 540x960 (any larger, and the boot animation file size would be HUGE!), and generates frame images. It then zips everything into a nice little package, that 99% of Android boot animation modifiers would recognize. This script in particular plays 20 seconds of video, and then finishes the animation with the Beats Audio logo.
Where to get videos:
Head over to YouTube and navigate to your favourite artist or your favourite music video! Then, copy the YouTube link, and paste it over at KeepVid to get started!
Another good place to start, Vimeo Groups.
Ripping the video file off the web:
Using Keepvid.com:
1) Rip the mp4 video from any supported video site and save it as "1.mp4". The video must be at least 30 seconds long.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Generating the boot animation:
Download my custom HTC ONE Boot Animation Builder Script.
2) Extract the script files, and paste your video in the folder with the batch script
Warning! Your antivirus might think the zip is dangerous because of the bat file, I can assure you with my kitten's life that is not!
3) Run the run.bat file.
4) Copy the bootanimation.zip file to your device.
Installing the animation to your device:
Install method A:
If you run the Viper ROM, head over to ViperOne Tweaks and select Advanced>Custom bootanimation and select the zip created by the BAT file.
Install method B:
If your Rom is AOKP (with Rom Control in settings)... you can select it from Rom Control>General UI>Custom Boot Animation
Install method C:
Download and install ROM Toolbox Lite from the Play Store.
Navigate to Interface>Boot Animations>Local> and choose your bootanimation.zip
Install method D:
Copy your new bootanimation.zip from to your SDCard into data/local using your File Manager (Root access required, check your File Manager settings)
Notes:
The file size of the bootanimation.zip would be 200mb+. That is normal.
The boot animation zip works with the boot down animation, but it does not scale the video appropriately (since the images are not 1080x1920). If you have any insights on this, please post.
I do not know how to get audio working using this method, I don't care for audio in my boot animation anyways. Google might help you with that.
I'm currently sporting this video as my boot animation:

I'm gonna try the util when i get home from work, thanks m8!
One thing though: why force the original vid file to be named 1.mp4? can't you just use %1 in the script? that way the user can use any filename...
