[Tutorial] Sense 3.0 lockscreen with changeable apps in lockscreen - HTC Wildfire S

This lockscreen consumes very little amount of RAM compared to other ported sense 3.0 lockscreens, works on stock rom or other roms. Please follow instructions carefully:
requirements: S-Off, Rooted
1.] In Root explorer copy attached htclockscreen.apk and rosie.apk
2.] Go to system\app and delete htclockscreen.apk and htclockscreen.odex / and rosie.apk and rosie.odex, be sure to delete them or move to sdcard or it won't work, also rename won't work.
3.] paste my htclockscreen.apk and rosie.apk to system/app folder.
4.] then set permission on both files with the following:
1.read, write
2.read
3.read
5.] reboot then see new lockscreen, then click personalized then you'll see lockscreen settings to change icons.
6.] If lockscreen not changed reboot 2nd time then it will work.
Hope you all success.
PS: Extract files with winrar. Also disable fastboot in Power settings when reboot otherwise turn off manually then on.

Good job.
I've installed apps like you said and it works.

I'm freshly rooted n S-offed Could you provide some screenshots ?
Is there chance to port ALL sense 3.0 ?

Strange...
I copied both files and everything works, except that everything from Rosie is now back in english while my phone is set up in NL (dutch).
Going back to my non changeable 3.0 lockscreen...

Is there a way to change size, font or color of the hour ?
I'd prefer a bigger one with another font type.

Hello,
I am trying to use this.. I am using HTCH wildfire S, android Gingerbread 2.3 with HTC sense 2.1. my device is unlocked and rooted.. I installed root explorer then tried to delete files but it is saying u cannot be deleted files because the file permission is read only i even cant change permission of Rosie.apk etc files..

There is a button on root explorer [R/W] click it

The screen shots seems fishy.
You said replace htclockscreen.apk , while the scrrenshots are of htcsenselauncher 3.0 ?
How did this happen ? Wil this method work if the sense launcher is Sense 2.0 ?

[APPS] More SGS2 apps and widgets (buddies, stocks, post-it ...)

I did not port this apps to SGS1, I just looked for the files in designgears Cognition S2 Rom for SGS2 and tried them on my SGS and most of them worked.
All tried on Stock deodexed JVP. Push all files to system/app except voicetogo.apk (must be installed normally through any file explorer, if not it won't work).
- Stocks widget working well except when pressing to open the app force closes.
- Buddies now widget works.
- Post-it widget works.
- Touchwiz calculator works (its like the one on SGS1 but a little changed).
- Voice to go with widget and 5 language support (English, Spanish, French, Italian and German)
- Voice recorder working well except when opening the list.

Voice recorder is not working. Fc on list or when I stop recording.
Calculator fc on text size.
Did remove dalvik cache and cache from recovery.
I am using froyo ddkf1

bootanimation also animated:
PS: Extract attached files with winrar.
I tried it. First downanimation didn't work.
But I changed permissions on it and then everything was fine.
Permissions must be set for bootanimation.zip and downanimation.zip like this :
Owner : Read-Write
Group : Read
Others : Read
Use Root Explorer to change permissions.
Thanks for Black HTC Splashscreen. I love it.
easy replace for Virgin US
Get your favorite bootanimation.zip... Rename it to Sprint_bootanimation.zip... Backup current /system/customize/resource/Sprint_bootanimation.zip [rename it to Sprint_bootanimation_orig.zip or something]... Drop your new boot animation into aforementioned directory [you may need es explorer w root or root explorer to mount rw]... And you're set.
Files to edit:
Sprint_bootanimation.zip ... for boot up
Sprint_downanimation.zip [need to fix permissions] ... for shut down
(Couldn't get the audio files to work right)
No need to flash the P...zip through hboot; sounded risky to me anyway.
I added a marvel boot [but it's way too large to keep] check it out at : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18404109&postcount=1

works great on my htc wildfire s s off virgin mobile....i deleted and backup the boot and down animation from virgin mobile then renamed the new one sprint
I'm currently running cm7 and i really like the boot animation of it.
Can I just flash the downanimation and the PG76IMG.zip for changing the htc screens to black?
Just want to be sure

The PG76IMG.zip takes care of the boot splash.
Could someone probably provide the original boot animation in black?
The other two worked - thanks especially for the boot screen in black. Never seen that before !

your xda link is messed up Just a heads up
Thanks!!! Awesome Boot and Down Animations!
Hey, I'm getting "You cannot paste here because the file system is read-only."
What should I do? :S

For those of you who wish to change the audio - I was able to make a couple of custom mp3's called:
VMU_Power_Down_48_24.mp3
VMU_Power_Up_48_24.mp3
I placed them in the resource directory with the custom:
Sprint_bootanimation.zip
Sprint_bootanimation.zip
...and then changed the permissions -rebooted and had instant relief from the horrid "Virgin Mobile" jingle with the stock boot animation and sounds.
This will only work with Virgin phones, obviously.

TUTORIAL "How to remove the stock htc launcher and install adw"

Hello all i wanted a custom launcher like adw to become my default launcher, not just a regular app that over wrights my stock launcher, i wanted htc launcher gone and i didnt like the looks of it so i came up with this tutorial, this is a tutorial of how to completely remove the stock htc launcher and install adw launcher (like cm7) or your favorite launcher to become apart of your rom.I am not liable if you brick your device, thats why #1 is backup in nandroid, just in case you do not like this or want to go back to stock in the future, if you need help please reply and ill help you out. I tested this on my htc wildfire s stock rom, it will only work if your using stock sense rom. I DID NOT MAKE THIS ZIP, THIS ZIP BELONGS TO Calkulin HERE ON XDA,THANK HIM FOR MAKING THE ZIP, ALL I MADE IS THIS TUTORIAL AND HOW TO INSTALL A NEW DEFAULT LAUNCHER
*why to change?*
*removing stock launcher gives you a little more internal space
*installing adw or go launcher runs faster, smoother and can be customized unlike the stock htc launcher
*for those that have found a rom that performs great and just want to get rid of the htc launcher
*Downfall to changing*
*you can no longer use htc widgets, skins.
*Tutorial*
1.Make a nandroid backup
2.download your favorite launcher to your sd card from a computer, do not install it! the reason not to install it is because we want it to become a system apk not a regular app
3.push launcher apk into system/app
4.install apk inside system/app
5.press home, it will ask you to make default launcher click "yes"
6.download the zip attached below
7.place zip inside sd card
4.turn off device
5.open cwm
6.under advanced-wipe dalivk cache
7.install zip from sd card-Calkulin's_Remove_Sense.zip
8.reboot
9.now your phone is running your new launcher, everything will work normal
*click thanks if you like!*
*Also*
*if you do a factory reset in settings (not a hard reset) the launcher will still be installed, thats why you have to move the launcher.apk inside system/settings now its apart of your rom

Can it be done in any other way, lets say you put adw launcher in system/app or any other directory (lets say you want to change launcher in any of roms), then just using titanium backup, uninstalling htc ui, or any other launcher u wish to be replaced, and save yourself from rebooting and using this zip file that you attached ?
So basically just replacing this recovery installation step, with titanium uninstallation of laucher that is preinstalled...
second thing, will this work on other roms, and will the thing i wrote just work on ANY rom ?
Yes that's a good point lol try it and see, not sure... we would need somone to test it out
Sent from my HTC_A510c using XDA App
yea, someone that would test it would be great, since i dont have so much time because i have my exam in few days, if we dont get someone to test it in that time, i will ... but i think that my solution will work ...
on cm im 99% sure ... though on cm its not system/apps i think its some other directory
about sense, well we will see
anyway, clicked thanks for nice tut ... it's simple
Lol ok thanks now I have to see what other people think, hope they will like it

[SCRIPT] shellpaste v0.4

This is a handy little shell script I wrote today that I used to copy files to /system/app folder. This is the first thing I ever wrote for Android so I don't know if anyone has any use for this but there ya go.

To use simply download the shellpaste.txt from below and rename it to shellpaste.sh. Put the file in the root of your SD card then go to android terminal and type the following:
Code:
sh /sdcard/shellpaste.sh
Changelog:
Code:
shellpaste v0.4
-now supports all folders not just /system.
-added chmod to actually make it useful. Thanks Tigger31337.
shellpaste v0.3
-cleaned up the code a bit.
shellpaste v0.2
-first release.
Thanks man this is very helpful for the things I do. Cheers.

Awesome! Hope it serves you well.
small scripts, medium tricks, big handy
Does this address permissioning after the file(s) are copied?
No offense, but yours seems like a rather convoluted method when you've got things like adb push or just drag and drop from the PC. If the apk is already on your phone, then you need only do a cut and paste to /system (with, say, Root Explorer) and then set permissions. Done.
Also, it's not very flexible. What if I want to copy to /data? Another script??
None taken. The script changes the permissions to r/w, copies the file, then changes it back to read-only. As I said, this was just a script I wrote to help me with what I needed to do at the time. Maybe I'll write a new version that supports any folder the user chooses.. I agree, it's not exactly an elegant solution but I'm a complete noob at this. You gotta start somewhere, right?
Edit: Also, I am completely open to feature suggestions. So if there's anything more advanced you guys would like to see in newer versions feel free to post. I'm using this as a tool to learn as much as possible.

I don't mean permissions at the f/s mount level, I mean permissions at the file level (i.e. chmod).
If you're copying an apk to /system/app, then eventually you'll need to chmod it to 644 before it will execute properly. Maybe I'm missing something, but copying an apk from SD card to /system isn't going to do this for you automatically.
I have a suggestion to your script
Example: I pushed a systemUI.apk in system/app folder through adb now when you look at your phone the statusbar dissappears, of course because of push, now can you make a script to rerun the apk or execute it, like mounting it dunno the exact word, so that you won't have to reboot your phone to see your statusbar again, instead just run it like windows run. This is usefull if your modding the APK.
Gotcha. Completely forgot about chmod.
I'll try to make it reinstall the systemui.apk without rebooting but could use some pointers on how to achieve this.
Edit:
Made a new version that supports mounting of all folders and added chmod into the mix. Should work properly now.

I've never used android scripts before but I'm guessing you could just do
exec /system/app/whatever.apk
But idk on that one.

I do exactly this on the WildChild ROM, using pm disable/enable.
It's a method I came up with by myself (so, it's not very elegant but it gets the job done ). There might be other ways of doing it, but I haven't seen any yet.

[MOD]AOSP LockRings

Bored of the same old crappy lock icon in AOSP Roms?!
Well Look no further, these icons will change the Lock icon to a selection of custom images, made by me :3
Code:
I am not responsible for anything at all, if you brake your phone, your problem not mine, but i will help because i'm a nice guy!
Notice
Don't ask for Flashable Zips, 2 Reasons. 1. Makes it too Noob Friendly, this will help you see what else makes up the system ui of your phone and open you up to be able theme them accordingly. 2. I couldn't actually get it to flash properly xD It's good to get experience with the below method thou! And it's totally Worth it tbh!!
These will probably only work on AOSP roms, but i have only tested these myself on my Desire C and they work flawlessly, no lag, nothing like that! So enjoy using them guys :3
Okay so now on how to install you desired ring, it is not as easy as just flashing the zip in recovery, plainly because, their is no zip for you to flash :highfive: Haha, so you need to make some edits to your Framework-res.apk instead until i can be bothered to make a flashable zip for these
First Thing you guys need to do is find your framework-res.apk, i'm sure you allknow where it is but just incase i'll tell you :3 It is Located in the Desired Rom Zip under System>framework>and there it is! I personally would extract it to my desktop and leave it there for later :3
**********
The second thing your gonna wanna do is Decompile or find any way in which you like to extract the res folder that is inside the .apk, again, i'd extract this to my Desktop again because it's an easy place to put it :3
**********
The next thing your gonna need to do is press Thanks on this post to unlock the download Just kidding but, yeah, What you gotta do is download my zip of mods, have a browse of them until you find the one you like, and extract the two images in the Resized/root of the folder to, you guessed it, the desktop You can use the other images outside the folder but the image will be bigger (HDPI)
**********
So Now you've got the two chosen images on your desktop, navigate into the res folder you extracted earlier and navigate to drawable-mdpi, this is all the images and stuff that make parts of your phone, i'd leave most of this alone unless you know what you doing
**********
Now drag and drop the two custom images into the drawable-mdpi folder and allow the files to be overwritten, now put the res folder back into the framework-res.apk and recompile it or do just whatever method it is you like to get the custom res folder back into the .apk
**********
Now, you can either put the framework apk back into the rom zip, and reflash it with your custom lockring, however this is time consuming, and takes longer, can cause errors blah blah blah, you get the idea, so instead just copy the apk to your SD card and use a root browser to copy it
**********
Once the custom framework-res.apk is copied, simply paste it in the system>framework>HERE of your phone, accept the overwrite, your phone will immediately reboot and this is okay, it will then boot up, and your lockscreen ring will change :3
**********
Example of the kinds of rings you can have and what they look like on my Device
However i only have three, because that's all i took screenies of, the first two are ones that wernt resized, but the third one is :3 i think the resized are MDPI so better off choosing the HDPI ones which are outside the Resized Folder
