[Tutorial] Make your own Splash Screen for Wildfire S - HTC Wildfire S

Hi Wildfire S users,
Today I'm going to teach you how to create Splash screen or the image that comes
before bootanimation.
1. Download the tool in the attached and extract it using any zip manager
2. Download PG76IMG.zip as base file for creating splash flashable
3. Make an image or resize and crop any image, it should be 320 width, 480 height. Save it as 24bit BMP. I'm not sure JPG will work but I always choose BMP to be sure.
4. In the tool folder you just extracted open CreateG1Splash.exe then click open choose your edited image then click convert.
5. a file mysplash.rgb565 is created just rename it to splash1.nb0 then open my attached PG76IMG.zip with any zip manager like winrar,winzip or 7zip. then drag the splash1.nb0, thats it.
6. Now put the file in the root of your memory card then flash through Hboot. by fully turning off phone then holding volume down then power.
7. It will ask you to update just follow instructions after that reboot. You'll see your new splash.
Here is a sample:

Thanks !

Exactly what I was looking for, thanks very much.

let me guess.......only for people with s-off????

A handy guide
It seems quite different on WFS compared to other Android phones. For example, on my DHD you convert your .bmp to .img and then flash via ADB as follows:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash splash1 splash1.img
fastboot reboot
You can also use Android Flasher if you don't feel comfortable using ADB.
I wonder if this will work with WFS?

Found another tool
Your input image shoud be 320 * 480 pixels!!!

New Splash with matching bootanimation

Great tool. I've made a splash screen also.
I've the original rgb565 contained also so if it doesn't work, maybe another one can create a working zip.

Hit thanks when you like! And download!!!
If someone wants to make a boot animation, i've added a bunch of jpg files in the same style.
Can't make it myself sorry. If you've made it, post it here or give it to me so i can include it.

what is splash mean???

Thanks for this

Thanks so much! I love it!

Does this method work with HTC unlocked phones? I'm running CM7.2 by alquez and have CWM installed and rooted.
Edit: I don't think it works with HTC unlocked phoned. Damn, I was excited about it.

anyway to revert back to original splash screen and bootanimation

To get original splash screen, you could Google the image, and then create it using the instructions in the first post.
Also original animations could be sourced via search, however changing the splash screen does not affect the boot animation, but I'd advise that you back things up before deleting them in the future.

[SPLASH] Nexus S-style splash screens for Magic

For some time I have been using a splash screen I made, and thought to share it since I haven't seen anything like it.
The idea originates from Nexus S splash screen and has the same style of logo text, white with some inner shadow. I also made some different styles, in which I used giorgisp's HDPI splash screen as background.
NOTICE! THESE WILL ONLY WORK ON HTC MAGIC AND G1 = DREAM/SAPPHIRE COMPATIBLE!

2. Download & move your desired splash image to somewhere easily accessible (like C:\)
3. Type "fastboot flash splash1 NAME"
For example: fastboot flash splash1 splash3-htcandroid-ns-blue.rgb565

Sadly not, because the operating system is not able to access it's bootloader (fastboot/hboot) and because of that it's splash1 partition.

on G2/DZ you need engineering hboot to flash new splash. If you don't have, flashing makes nothing.

Wrong. I don't have the engineering hboot installed and I installed a custom splash screen (the HTC quietly rooted one from the previous page).
If you search their is a guide how to install it through terminal emulator, which I followed and it worked perfectly.
how do u change the splash image?!

I tried this method also, it haven't worked before I flashed eng hboot. But I think it must work, because both eng hboot and splash are flashed from terminal same way.
You're better off just flashing the engineering bootloader anyway. Fastboot becomes a last resort in the unlikely event recovery f***s up.
Anyway, here's mine.

Owner : Read-Write
Group : Read
Others : Read
Use Root Explorer to change permissions.
Thanks for Black HTC Splashscreen. I love it.
easy replace for Virgin US
Get your favorite bootanimation.zip... Rename it to Sprint_bootanimation.zip... Backup current /system/customize/resource/Sprint_bootanimation.zip [rename it to Sprint_bootanimation_orig.zip or something]... Drop your new boot animation into aforementioned directory [you may need es explorer w root or root explorer to mount rw]... And you're set.
Files to edit:
Sprint_bootanimation.zip ... for boot up
Sprint_downanimation.zip [need to fix permissions] ... for shut down
(Couldn't get the audio files to work right)
No need to flash the P...zip through hboot; sounded risky to me anyway.
I added a marvel boot [but it's way too large to keep] check it out at : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18404109&postcount=1

For those of you who wish to change the audio - I was able to make a couple of custom mp3's called:
VMU_Power_Down_48_24.mp3
VMU_Power_Up_48_24.mp3
I placed them in the resource directory with the custom:
Sprint_bootanimation.zip
Sprint_bootanimation.zip
...and then changed the permissions -rebooted and had instant relief from the horrid "Virgin Mobile" jingle with the stock boot animation and sounds.
This will only work with Virgin phones, obviously.

[Q] Installed LeeDrOiD HD V3.3.3-Port-R5 but still have O2 Splash screen

Hi, im new here.
I've got a s-off HTC Desire with the awesome LeeDrOiD HD V3.3.3-Port-R5 ROM installed, But for some reason I still have the static O2 splash screen when I turn my phone on.
Im not a total noob, i cant for the life of me work why its still there or how I can remove the damn thing.
Any help would be great.
Grab the android flasher somewhere on the forum and then find an image to replace it using the flasher

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794638
I gave the flasher a go, i flashed a black version of the defult HTC splash. But the O2 splash is still there. The O2 one comes on first followed by the now black one.
Does anybody now where the O2 splash is located? Then I can just delete it. The only thing located in the Root/Data/Local is the black HTC bootanimation.zip
It is called SPLASH, not BOOT ANIMATION. You have to replace the splash image.

okay, im confused.
I have a splash1.img but when Im in android flasher its asking me for a .bmp instead of a .img file.
I then made a 24bit 480x800 splash1.bmp, which it accepted and flashed but it didnt work. Im still getting the O2 splash.
Does anybody know where the splash file is located on the phone? So i can replace it manually?
heres a screenshot

Hmm. Strange. Do you have S-OFF? Maybe that's the cause, because the file is on internal NAND hidden somewhere.
The process is simple BTW, it needs a 480x*800 image (BMP, not other) you select Splash and flash it via the tool. It worked for me (I'm S-OFF).
Edit: Changing Splash does require your phone with S-OFF. (stated in other threads).
Is your phone pvt 4. I have the exact same problem but with default white HTC. I'm s-offed and alpharev has never changed my boot image. I've also tried Android flasher. It says its worked but it doesn't. I'm wondering if its stored some place different on pvt 4. Is their anyway to manually check??

[BOOTANIM] How to create a personal boot animation using any music video!

Difficulty: EASY!
Time: Approximately 10 minutes
Tools Req: PC & HTC ONE
This script takes an MP4 file, and uses FFMpeg to zoom and crop the video to 540x960 (any larger, and the boot animation file size would be HUGE!), and generates frame images. It then zips everything into a nice little package, that 99% of Android boot animation modifiers would recognize. This script in particular plays 20 seconds of video, and then finishes the animation with the Beats Audio logo.
Where to get videos:
Head over to YouTube and navigate to your favourite artist or your favourite music video! Then, copy the YouTube link, and paste it over at KeepVid to get started!
Another good place to start, Vimeo Groups.
Ripping the video file off the web:
Using Keepvid.com:
1) Rip the mp4 video from any supported video site and save it as "1.mp4". The video must be at least 30 seconds long.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Generating the boot animation:
Download my custom HTC ONE Boot Animation Builder Script.
2) Extract the script files, and paste your video in the folder with the batch script
Warning! Your antivirus might think the zip is dangerous because of the bat file, I can assure you with my kitten's life that is not!
3) Run the run.bat file.
4) Copy the bootanimation.zip file to your device.
Installing the animation to your device:
Install method A:
If you run the Viper ROM, head over to ViperOne Tweaks and select Advanced>Custom bootanimation and select the zip created by the BAT file.
Install method B:
If your Rom is AOKP (with Rom Control in settings)... you can select it from Rom Control>General UI>Custom Boot Animation
Install method C:
Download and install ROM Toolbox Lite from the Play Store.
Navigate to Interface>Boot Animations>Local> and choose your bootanimation.zip
Install method D:
Copy your new bootanimation.zip from to your SDCard into data/local using your File Manager (Root access required, check your File Manager settings)
Notes:
The file size of the bootanimation.zip would be 200mb+. That is normal.
The boot animation zip works with the boot down animation, but it does not scale the video appropriately (since the images are not 1080x1920). If you have any insights on this, please post.
I do not know how to get audio working using this method, I don't care for audio in my boot animation anyways. Google might help you with that.
I'm currently sporting this video as my boot animation:
