Oops! - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, I guess i have bricked my phone beyond repair but i have got to ask. Yesterday i tried different roms and in the end i tried to go back to official Htc rom and tried to change back the Hboot to the original. Rebooted and now its dead. When i press volume up and power it vibrates a few times and then blinks orange. When i press volume up and volume down and power it vibrates a few time and then the light is green.
On both occasion my computer finds the phone but request the qualcomm driver which i cannot find. Anyone that has any idea what to do? I cannot get in to recovery.
I know its my fault but it doesnt hurt to ask.
Thanks
Björn

Try holding volume down and power to see if you can get into bootloader.

That is exactly what I have been doing the last couple of days, i have downloaded numerous of drivers without any luck. Been to forums and sites. I realize now that my device is not semi-bricked which would of course be better if it was. The only thing that i cannot understand is why my phone reacts when i press the buttons i wrote in my first post in this thread. Also why my comp finds my phone. Gives a little hope as it seems it is not completely dead.

If the phone shows up as either
Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM
or
QHSUSB_DLOAD
You have an unrecoverable brick.

Ok, ty all for trying to help. Bought the new Xperia Mini Pro instead.

One V Dead!

Today morning while sending an SMS, my phone got hanged and auto-restarted.
It got hung on the boot screen.
Then when i tried to restart it again, it stopped responding.
Now I only get 6-7 vibrations when I try to start the phone and then nothing happens. Hard reset is not working either.
I had not rooted the phone.
Can anyone tell me what to do?
i know this may sound REALLY stupid and as i dont have my ONE V yet is just a stab in the dark....does it need charging at all??? or will it boot with the charger connected for about 15-20mins?
I tried that as well...
My battery was almost full before the phone died.
I put it on charging for almost and hour to see if it makes any difference. But it still wont start...
sounds like a service centre job
can u get into bootloader mode? if yes its just a soft brick u can solve it easily just flash any of the custom roms. or stock ruu
and your phone will be fine
did u rooted it?
and bfre this happened what did you do? tried changing fonts?

If, as you say, you didn't root it, then the software is probably not screwed up. Could very well be the hardware, in which case you'll have to have it repaired or replaced.
You've probably done this, but try holding the power button down for a really long time, until the buttons flash about 10 times. Then try different combinations of holding the power button plus holding the volume-down key to try getting into recovery.

he has not rooted his phone - no recovery, only bootloader.
he didn't said that he arrives at htc one logo. He cannot START his phone at all!
read again and read it good before posting stuff..
as per the problem, dude, if you put it to charge, you see the yellow led? it is turning on? if it does, then you still have hope. leave it recharged for 15-20 minutes and as you recharge it, press and hold volume button DOWN and power button, if this process goes ok you will see a white background with some text in it and a menu. this is called bootloader. if you can arrive here, you don't need to go to warranty with the device.

I tried charging it for half an hour, the led does not blink.
I am not able to enter recovery mode either. Tried pressing Volume down + Power and all possible combinations of volume and power button.
I dont know why I am not able to enter the bootloader.
I contacted HTC and they said I should give it to the service centre. Hoping that they repair it since its under warranty...
Try holding down volume and pressing power for more than 10 seconds. If it still doesn't boot into hboot you will have to take it to a service center.
Since you haven't flashed anything on to it or modified it, I'd say it's a hardware problem. Send it back for replacement.

if it's QHSUSB_DLOAD
then it's Dead Jim! and needs replacing
Have you tried holding power button for 10 seconds. I believe that way you can soft reset the phone. Check google, for the key combination for a hard reset as well. I believe it was volume up and the power button but I am not sure.
If these dont work, than you may need to go to service center.

I can confirm this. I bricked my phone this way (power button+ volume up) when I tried to get into bootloader mode.
Source: my own experience
If you get QHSUSB_DLOAD when you connect your phone with your pc, I believe its a deadly brick.

help i've bricked my phone

Sorry, i'm a noob at all this. a friend of mine asked if i could debrand his htc wildfire s. i followed on of the guides on here, cant remember which. i unlocked the bootloader and put on a europe generic rom. i was hoping this would remove the simlock. as probably expected, it didn't. he bought a code on ebay to unlock the simlock on the phone. the code was entered and it seem to work but when a sim was put in, the phone was saying sim wont allow connection to this network.
i followed various methods on here to try and cure this, but again, no go. so i bought a xtc clip to see if this would work and it didn't. so i tried various roms to see if this was the problem.
in the end someone said it was the radio rom. i updated that and the phone turned off and now wont turn on. when i plug it it there is just an orange flashing light and no response from the phone at all.
Is there anything i can do to fix this or is it totally bricked. if it is, can it be fixed cheaper than buying new.
sorry if this has been covered already but i've been trawling the internet for so long it's done my head in.
any help will be apprieciated
thanks
The xtc clip definitely should have done it for you.
Remove and replace the battery, press volume down and power, what happens?
Is it important how I sent this?
Nothing happens when i do that. I can't even get into bootloader. The only time i can get my computer to recognise my phone is to power on my phone while holding both volume buttons Dow. This makes the phone vibrate 5 times. Then when i plug it in to my computer it tries installing drivers. Something like qualcomm drivers. At work at no so can't say the exact name.
As for the clip working, that's what i thought. Thanks for replying

Thanks. I read that tutorial last night and tried it various times. Waited about 5 mins in between pressing the Vol button. Still nothing happened. Maybe I'm. Doing something wrong. I got various roms should i try all of the ones which i knew were working or does it have to be a specific one. Thanks

I downloaded the rmm from the link provided. Started the program and did the search in the temp folder for rom.zip. copied that to the goldcard and renamed to pg76img. Put goldcard in phone and started the phone by pressing both volume buttons and the power button. (This is the only way i can get 5 vibrations from the phone. And the orange light is on constant.) I pressed the up button and waited about 5 mins. Pressed up again and waited another 5 mins. Pressed up again. Waited. And still nothing. Sorry if I'm being a pain.

I recently completed all of the steps for a one click root of my epic and attempted to boot into CWM mode for the first time and now all I get is the samsung screen. No vib, no blue light... it just sits there on the samsung screen. I've tried every button combination I can think of and nothing happens. I think i may have created a paper weight. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance for you time.

Hold the power button and the volume up button. It'll reset, continue to hold, it'll boot into recovery.
You are not bricked, probably a bad flash or cable. Redo the one click and should all be fine

The community would love to help you but you have to let us know if any of the above fixes have helped? Do you know what a jig is just in case?
Just a bad flash, happened to me once. Boot back into Odin (Hold power and volume down) and redo the one click process again. Make sure nothing moves the cord or try a different one.
Hope it helps.

Your phone is not seemingly bricked.
Try the button combinations mentioned above but hold for like 20 seconds.
your NOT bricked.. just soft brick.. like suggested, calm down and hold volume down and power until it reboots into download mode again.. if its stuck at samsung logo get it to turn off by a battery pull or something and start over fresh. hard brick wont have a logo it will just be a blank screen and a solid blue led and wont do anything at all

Sometimes it can be a pain in the butt to boot into recovery or download mode. Just continue holding the button combination until it enters download mode. It might reboot and go back to the Samsung splash screen. Just hold Volume Down and Power until you are in download mode. Do not release the buttons until you have successfully entered download mode.

[Q] my DHD Is defunct :((

Hi everyone and sorry for my english,
Little introduction, yesterday I changed a new battery (original) and everything was great until
Today suddenly my phone off for no reason ..
The battery was charged at least half, so there is no chance that it sold out
I pressed the power button, it lights up for a moment - and off again
And since he just does not turn on anymore! I tried everything, remove the battery, replace the previous, to plug and then insert the battery at the same time (I heard it from a friend who understands electronics)
LED is not lit at all while charging .. Please help! I do not want to bury my DHD!! :crying:
Remove battery, replace, press volume down button and the press power button. Keep both pressed till phone comes on, may take 10 seconds.
If the phone doesnt turn on the battery could be flat, if the phone isnt charging the battery then this could be a fix http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=400471194202

I can recognise this anywhere, your phone is in download mode, don't worry, although your phone is fully functional, you will need a JTAG to kick it out of download mode, take your phone to a repair shop, and tell them to JTAG the phone to unfreeze the boot loader, the problem is common with the HTC One series, but I've never seen this happen to the Desire HD
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk 2
EDIT: I have the drivers, i dont know what use they will be, maybe you could use QPST to flash some files and get it working, but if you're not experienced i say you should just leave it and take it to a shop for a JTAG

although it's not 100% stuck in download mode, maybe the emmc is gone so it can't even read the boot partition or OS to boot from.
