[Q] my DHD Is defunct :(( - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone and sorry for my english,
Little introduction, yesterday I changed a new battery (original) and everything was great until
Today suddenly my phone off for no reason ..
The battery was charged at least half, so there is no chance that it sold out
I pressed the power button, it lights up for a moment - and off again
And since he just does not turn on anymore! I tried everything, remove the battery, replace the previous, to plug and then insert the battery at the same time (I heard it from a friend who understands electronics)
LED is not lit at all while charging .. Please help! I do not want to bury my DHD!! :crying:

Remove battery, replace, press volume down button and the press power button. Keep both pressed till phone comes on, may take 10 seconds.
If the phone doesnt turn on the battery could be flat, if the phone isnt charging the battery then this could be a fix http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=400471194202

Get it hooked to a JTAG and see of you can resurrect the dead body, and to see if the JTAG software will recognize it, if not get a new motherboard

I can recognise this anywhere, your phone is in download mode, don't worry, although your phone is fully functional, you will need a JTAG to kick it out of download mode, take your phone to a repair shop, and tell them to JTAG the phone to unfreeze the boot loader, the problem is common with the HTC One series, but I've never seen this happen to the Desire HD
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk 2
EDIT: I have the drivers, i dont know what use they will be, maybe you could use QPST to flash some files and get it working, but if you're not experienced i say you should just leave it and take it to a shop for a JTAG

he could try the qhsusb_dload fix for the one v and similar phones, not sure if it will work.
although it's not 100% stuck in download mode, maybe the emmc is gone so it can't even read the boot partition or OS to boot from.

Yup, I've tried to fix a friends bricked DHD before I had one, the JTAG failed to connect it with error 0x44 (Damaged Hardware) but you could always try, I looked just now for the One Vs fix but I can't find it, if you find it post the link

Does it show the HTC logo at all? 7 vibrations somewhat usually indicate a problem in the MISC partition, and what did the unbrick software do? Does windows still try to look for QHSUSB Drivers?

[Q] Can't boot HTC Wildfire S

A friend of mine, gave me today an HTC Wildfire S, who found laying in the street. Problem is that i can't boot it, even in bootloader (Vol Down + Power) if i try to boot into bootloader only a tiny red light appears on one sensor, and if i try to boot into android, it appears to boot but nothing appears on the screen.
Any Advice?
Is it detected when connected to a PC?

I thought about a lot of things as your post didn't have a lot of info:
1- you aren't aware of battery level, leave it for an hour or two connected to the computer to recharge the battery.
2- do you have hTC Sync 3.0 ? You have to have it so the computer can recognize the phone.
3- putting it to the bootloader mode and nothing appearing on the screen makes me a bit worried.
Let us know how things will go !!!

1 - Full Charged, at least charging light now is green (was orange before, like in other HTC's)
2 - Yes, i also have ADB drivers installed, but nothing appears with cmd "adb devices"
3 - I don't know if is rooted, or has USB debugging on.
Best thing to do is use xtc clip, create gold card etc and flash the Rom.

I've found the problem. Looks like screen backlight is working fine, but no info is coming to it. I know because when i press touch buttons they vibrate, and vol buttons sounds when i press. So, do you know where can i get a cheap LCD screen replacement in EU?
Thx in advance

After getting an LCD replacement and booting it up properly you could check the accounts & sync settings to see the Google account they used with the phone. That way you can maybe contact them. Contacts are also saved on phone memory, so you could have a look there.
If you did find the owner then you could charge him a little extra for finding and repairing it.
need the solution
I have the exact same problem with my HTC Wildfire S.
So what did you do with that phone?

Phone does not switch on.

Hi. I recently used the camera app to take some pictures. After that, I locked my phone. When I tried to unlock it, the screen remains black. I decided remove and put back the battery. After I did that, the phone still does not turn on. I connected the phone to the charger, the LED does not light up. Is my phone bricked? I did not flash/install anything, I was just using the camera app. I hope anyone could reply as soon as possible. Thanks.

who cares, what are you House? not every mystery can be solved - for one reason or another it died, and considering I've seen a few cases of this I'm guessing it's a factory problem with a small percentage of Desires... perhaps a mainboard problem

Bricked? APX mode?

I was given a HOX international tegra 3 by a friend to fix but i am afraid i am hitting a wall. He upgraded to the galaxy s3 and is trying to sell this off. I don't think he tried rooting, unlocking the bootloader, flashing anything. He stated that it would force close while trying to open Settings.app and everything started force closing when he inserted his SIM. He gave it to me because i was into flashing nexus one roms and kernels when i had a nexus one.
The phone doesn't seem to power on or show any signs of life on the phone itself. If i plug it into a windows machine, it recognizes it as "APX" but no driver is found or installed. I have searched around and neither ADB, Fastboot or nvflash recognize the device. I tried installing various drivers to no avail. I have pointed it to "android debugging bridge" and "NVidia USB Bootrecovery driver for mobile devices". ADB, fastboot and nvflash still do not recognize the device. It is also not listed in Device manager. Universal Naked beta driver also did not do anything. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I have done some brief reading on the S-OFF thread and it seems like you guys needed a device in APX mode for further progression? Maybe we can help eachother out.
TIA
Message Xmoo about the APX mode he's in the S-off thread should have some ideas. As to getting it to boot i'm assuming you've tried holding power for ten seconds?
i would suggest calling yor friend over,
tying him to a chair and beating him until he remembers how he got it into APX,
ppl would kill for that device in APX.
Careful, if you achieve to boot it, you may never be able to get in apx mode again. First talk to some experienced people in s-off thread to see what we can squeeze out from apx mode.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
tried every single power + volume combination possible. Everything leads to APX mode. It is like a 4 second wait with power and volume down. if its just power it takes like 15 seconds for the pc to recognize. I msged xmoo and am awaiting his reply.
Yes get over and talk with the team who are working to fully unlock this phone as they need apx mode and are dieing to have this mode one of them may even buy it from your friend in its current state as the crackers of this device are dieing to get this mode turned on on other devices if it's going to lead to an fully unlocked hox I sure am dreaming of the day this happens as I'm sure others are too so try talk with one of the guys over on other threads ask to see if anyone of them would like to buy it instead
atm do not I mean do not try to get the phone to boot normally until you have an answer of someone apx mode is needed and no one can get the hox in this mode

It would appear that the device defaults to apx mode when it is bricked. The fact that it won't even boot to hboot indicates this

I think I know why you can't get nvflash to talk to it. Chances are you are probably using a version designed for Tegra 2. There is a Tegra 3 version floating around but I'm sure it was a Linux version so you'd need Linux to use it. I'm sure I had a link but I can't find it. Also you might need the secure boot key (sbk) to flash anything but even just getting nvflash to do a --sync is a start.

I'll just copy-past myself:
Drivers etc. should be provided by this package: http://developer.nvidia.com/tegra-android-os-images (download here from list: http://developer.nvidia.com/tegra-resources).
Can download Linux,Mac,Win versions, all including drivers, nvflash and other stuff (bootloader, recovery.img, ...)
Hi,
Thank you for PM'ing me.
The phone gets noticed as APX, which is good. You need the Tegra3 Nvidia drivers. The problem is that you need to correct address in Nvflash. Cause if you talk with the wrong address, you could brick your phone. Since your friend kept it off for couple of weeks, I think that is the way it got into APX mode.
On old WM devices, when the battery drained and device had no power for a long time. The device would HardReset itself on the next power cycle it got. Maybe this is the same thing with the HOX. Battery is to empty, so it can't boot. Anyone who is willing to try the same thing? I use mine HOX everyday, so Can't leave mine powerless

Hehe, that was my first attempt after I read about APX on other devices that mentioned taking out the battery first. I let battery run out, booted few times into hboot etc until it didn't turn on anymore. Anyway, didn't work, as soon as I plugged in a USB cable, the phone had juice again and booted normally :/
If I remember correctly, there were also a few users who opened their HOX (think for wifi fix) and tried with disconnected battery -> no success

Yes but there is a difference. When emptying battery and directly plug it in. I would say empty battery in couple of days and then leave it for couple of weeks. Just like this story.

As I said, I didn't directly plug it in, but loaded hboot few times to drain the rest of the juice out. Then waited a few hours. Empty is empty, whether for 1 hour or 1 week.
Anyway, I gave up that attempt as I read about the guys who tried with disconnected battery. Can't get "emptier" than that ^^

Actually I don't, as far as I know there are no volatile memory in mobile phones ([edit]no crucial ones at least...I know i.e. RAM is volatile[/edit]), hence you don't need a battery to keep it alive, you just need one to run it.
Anyway, I'd be glad to be proven wrong ^^ Though it might be tough for some people, if they had to lay off their phones for weeks ^^

one x doesn't turn on, charge, or go into recovery.

as title says. last night I was simply watching a movie when i noticed the handset was very very hot, which is weird as it wasn't doing anything too stressing, i figured id let it cooldown abit, not two seconds after the video stopped, the audio went all messed up. I turned it off manually, and it restarted all normally. it happened again, although it wasn't particularly hot, however this time I did not manually restart it, I figured id wait to see if it sorts itself out. Instead it turned off. And it refuses to power on, charge or even go into boot. No idea, what's wrong.

This is weird but yeah I left in charge for about 12± hours, started flashing about a few mins ago and it's working perfectly. Pretty sure my phone is possessed. So yeah leave it in charge until it flashes.
Btw I'm not doing much, and it's already getting a bit warm, anything I can do to make my phone handle more? Is there a way to under clock this?

HELP
No idea then, motherboard may be dead if that's how unresponsive it is. If you have warranty send it off for repairs. Can you get into recovery? How about plugging it into a laptop/computer?

that sounds very bad
Has anyone tried this?
I had the same problem, no warranty because I unlocked it. Got it back, and found this topic.
Note: It can happen you need to try different pc/notebooks before it charges. I had to switch to 3 different pc s.

Hope this helps.

What happens when you plug the phone in? Does the green/orange led light up? If it does what color? Best case scenario, you have a bad cable or a bad adaptor and your phone wasn't charging. Worst case, fried board, dead battery or dead screen (phone is on, just the screen isn't lighting up).
The orange or green light dont come on soo what now??

You can try hooking it up to a PC and see if the PC can still find your phone. But from the sounds of it, it maybe a hardware failure somewhere. I would contact HTC if it's under warranty to have it repaired.
I ahd the same problem, dead - even power did not help
Try putting it on power overnight.
I hvae it in service for now, (but I used CM10 - and it broke down) I just hope the service will not have any problems with it and don't see it, for changing my hole motherboard

After having rooted it did they fix it?
Just flashed Ice Cold Jelly and rebooted but I seem to have no power to the unit now.
Obviously the bootloader is unlocked and it is rooted so I wasn't sure if they'd even work on it or what it would cost to do so. It is still under warranty.
When you connect the phone to a pc and it comes up as APX = Hardware failure ! As far as i know there is no fix for this
They changed my motherboard and I got it back . Didn't have to pay nothing.

Found it.
I tryed everything, nothing worked. After the JB update the hox only shows his logo.
Last time i let him receive the big JB update, but before installing it i made a copy to update.zip on the root of the sd.
Then after installing the update and again only showing the htc logo, i rebooted in the recovery and used custom recovery to write the boot again. Now everything works .
Thx anyway.
Keep up the good work here:good::good::good:

lol you bricked your phone by installing an ROM meant for the international One X, not the dual core version.
HTC one international ICJ bricked
Hi all,
Please forgive me if I've done something wrong posting here, I'm new here and I'm trying to post in the most relevant forum.
I have the international HTC One X (Tegra 3 etc) and Ive been using Ice Cold Jelly for a while. Yesterday I flashed Ice Cold 2.2 (the one meant for the international) with all the recommended wipes using TWRP. The phone worked fine for about 10 mins then froze with a messed up screen. I tried to reboot but it froze again during the reboot and hasn't turned on since. There's no LED at all when it's plugged in charging to any power source and it won't boot up no matter what I do.
I've done my best to search for solutions but to no avail, any advice anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!:fingers-crossed:

Thanks for the quick response!
It doesn't seem to be recognised by any operating system at all - as in the operating systems can't see it. There's no notification of hardware failure or even a device being connected.
What happends when you hold the power button and the volume - button together for a long time.....say like 30 seconds

Nothing. I've tried different button combinations for all sorts of periods of time with the phone plugged into an outlet, a computer and on it's own.
Then i can't do anything ..... Sorry.....

That's what I was afraid of... Thanks for your help though! I'll keep at it and see if it'll magically come back to life before I ship it off to HTC.
Yeah that's the only thing that can happen, keep it on the charger or pc usb connection....hope it comes back to life !
I have a same problem, My htc one is bricked when I went to update it to the latest orginal android via gprs, my battery had 40% charge and the updating process was on 75% and it is turned off, now when i connect it to the windows 8 the windows tell me something connected to usb but I can not access to anything on my phone and the phone not charging via charger....
Is here anyone to tell me how to fix it or is it fixable or not please?
