[Q] Dev question on a new account - Incredible 2 radio flashing - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Hey, I'm looking at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134451 right now and need to know the correct MD5 sum to use for my GB DINC2. There are 2, I dont know which to use, and I don't want to pick the wrong one. I know how to check MD5sums of files in ASTRO, but I don't know which file to check.
Please help me out ASAP! I installed CM7 and have no cell radio or 3g! I saved the bloatware stock os in a CWM backup so I'm using that now but I would like to use CM7 as a phone, not just a wifi device.
Feel free to post here or email me at my junk address: [email protected]
thanks so much in advance.

Actually, don't email me. I don't have that account set up anywhere and I dont check it.
I didn't make this reply instead of editing the first post to gain a post count so I can post in the DEV section, I just don't like the "edit" button.

Well which radio are you looking to flash? I only see one md5 per radio..

help selecting rom please

Need a bit of help here.. android newbie. So i've done the 1st part of toasts root and I can load any rom I want.. the only problem is I don't get 4g on any of them. If I flash back to the pc36img.zip file or whatever it is and I turn on 4g I instantly get it.. but any other roms I don't. Do I have to update the radio file associated with a specific rom or what? or am I doing something else wrong. If someone could recommend a 2.1 rom with some battery savings and a radio that it will definitely work with it let me know.
Thanks

Post this in Q and A forums not the dev forum
I used toasts method, rooted and unlocked nand, then flashed Flipz latest stock rooted rom, then flashed toats latest radio, Not the 2.0 radio i think it was 1.0.053 or something. I have full functionality including 4g. I then used root explorer to remove apk's I dont use.

downgrade from 2.2 to 2.1-update1

hmmm...I don't know what happened but I was following a thread that someone posted that you can root your phone by downgrading it first from 2.2 to 2.1.
I've tried doing it and it actually worked. I was going to post a reply (see below) however for some reason the thread got deleted.
"Wow...I'm in surprised & in awe that this actually works.
I was able to downgrade from 2.2 to 2.1-update1 using RUU.
I used RUU 1.47.651.1 that I downloaded back in July 6, 2010.
File name in my cpu "RUU_Supersonic_1.47.651.1_Radio_2.05.00.06.10_release_CL195459" with a size of 180,002 KB.
I'm not sure where did I downloaded this file before."
I would like someone to try it and please post the result.
If it does not work I would like to share the file I have in my cpu and see if this will help you downgrade. But I need someone to show me how can I share the file I have.
I will now try to root it and update later.
taken for now
If this is true then that magic RUU needs to be uploaded.

Yes I definitely agree but how can I upload or share this file for everyone to use?
So is this just one of those things that lets me use up my minutes by connecting to over my own equipment (broadband, wifi etc)? I dont get what the big deal is with these things. If I want VOIP ill just use skype. What I want is a repeater that I can put on the roof, with a big antenna that will give me a good signal inside. Anything else is just a way to leech more money from me.

I'm willing to bet you were coming from a rooted 2.2.

Exactly he probably rooted his 2.2 and then used the RUU to test and it worked which it would. So yeah please explain if you made a mistake don't worry a million folks have done the same thing. Also i have hope on a certain person.

My replacement phone was not rooted. I verified this by powering the phone by pressing the power button and volume down key at the same time.

I'm downloading the link right now on my phone and when I get to a computer I will try it.

I can't take a screens of important files I need for proof of situations in my life. I wish I still had my hero.(ok maybe not. Lol) I should of ask the guy at radio shack if it came with 2.2

You double-checked that you were S-ON right (I think you mentioned that you did)? S-OFF would allow you to flash an RUU of any version.
I'll look into this. If this do work as you say, you should be able to use Unrevoked 3.1, then Unrevoked Forever.
BTW, shipped-roms has it up:

Good luck. I know they've tried this before and it's never worked, but I'm not sure what releases were tried. Theoretically, they should all run into the earlier version issue.
And its not Sprint preventing you from taking screenshots of your display, it's HTC.

[SOLVED] BELL QCN Backup Needed

Thanks for looking everyone - The required QCN file was obtained and the Post-IMEI Recovery Bell Data Connectivity issue has been solved by PeopleArmy with the assistance of Jethro650!
Hey Bell users, I recently lost my IMEI and after restoring it using this method I now have no service. However their is a solution and but I need your help!
I need a backup of a specific file from a working BELL SGS3. Their is no flashing required as you only need to install a windows program and click a few buttons, then upload the file and PM it to PeopleArmy. The file will allow xda member, Peoplearmy to add BELL to his Data Restorer App for post-IMEI-injection issues. The file is small and will only take you a few minutes to retreive. As a bonus, the file you are retrieving is a backup of your IMEI data, which is good for you to keep in case you ever loose it.
If any Bell user already has a QCN file backup, please skip to step 7 so I can get this fix underway for my phone and the others waiting to get data back.
INSTRUCTIONS (for stock samsung rooted/unrooted roms - AOSP roms follow this):
1. DOWNLOAD and Install QPST V2.7.378 from HERE. Unzip the file and run the "setup.exe" to install QPST.
(Please note that QPST is a powerful program and can flash anything you throw at it. Don't do anything outside of the instructions as it can/could damage your phone)
2. You need open a hidden settings menu. Using the stock dialer dial *#7284#
3. Press the USBSettingsMenu button and put your phone in "RMNET + DM + MODEM" mode.
4. Plug your phone into your computer. Open your windows control panel and look in device manager under Ports and Serials you should see your phone there (note the COM##).
5. Find QPST in your start menu and open "QPST Configuration", click on the PORTS tab and then on Add New Port button. You should see the phone listed in the box on the right side. Click it and press OK. If you don't see it, type in COM## where ## is the port number you noted in step 4 and click OK. Close "QPST Configuration".
6. Find QPST in your start menu and open "Software Download". Click on the BACKUP tab. Make sure your phone is listed at the top under Port. Select the location you want to save your backup beside the "QCN File". Click Start and wait for it to finish. You should now have a QCN file of your NV wherever you made the save location.
7. Submitting your QCN is no longer required as this issue has been solved.
Please note that the instructions above were originally written by PeopleArmy but I modified them for people like me, who need it a little simpler
Thank you for your help,
Ian

I hope you can help too! I see your reply on PeopleArmy's thread. Probably for the better that it goes directly to the maker than to the public or a noob like me. I'm not really sure what kind of devious things could be done with a copy of someones QCN file. I think PeopleArmy only needed one file so I suppose anyone else can use the instructions to backup their QCN but don't post it online or send it out.
I'll edit the OP and ask to have this thread closed once everything is resolved.
Thanks again,
Ian

Yeah I'm not sure what all is contained in the backup but I do know that my imei number is in there so its not wise to throw it out to the general public.
On a side note mine was carrier unlocked when I took the backup so I don't know how that would play into it if at all. In the least I hope it helps him help people in your situation.
Good call! I decided to update the OP so that if anyone else decides to send their Bell QCM backups in, they will know to send them directly to PeopleArmy. I have no idea if your carrier unlocked file will have any effect on this fix so it couldn't hurt to have other people send theirs in too.
Thanks again for you're help. If you get any kind of updates that don't make it to the other thread, feel free to post them here as I'll be checking it every chance I get (only at home until my phone works again - no wifi at work)

Thanks for making a note of this on here. I have said in my thread repeatedly to never post any QCN backups publicly even if you are just storing it somewhere publicly accessible. I always discard of any QCN's that people send me once I look it over and once they are no longer needed. I even go as far as deleting the message that contains the link to a person's QCN after it is no longer needed for development (it also helps keep my message box from becoming too full...lol).
Jethro I sent you a message that I need a backup created using the 2.7.378 version of QPST. The one you sent me was made using the 2.7.323 version.
Thanks,
DX
@ian1331: It may be helpful to change your OP: It is a "QCN" backup, not QCM. No need to stress too much yet, I am pretty sure once peoplearmy gets what he needs you will be up and running again. I have seen him do it many times before.

@peoplearmy new backup made and pm sent, actually two sent cause I don't think the first one went lol.
@ian1331, I stayed up last night and got peoplearmy what he needed and he has updated his program in his thread. You should be good to go. Please post your results and if it works just add (solved) to your thread title. Good luck.
Edit--> you can change the thread title by editing your first post and just edit the title....
It is done! I was able to use the Data Restorer Application to fix my phone. With the assistance of PeopleArmy and the timley response/donation from Jethro650, I have a new QCN file restored to my phone and everything is perfect!
This issue is solved for me! If anyone requires further assistance with this issue, please refer to PeopleArmy's thread.
Thanks,
Ian

In the video it says that once i type fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin the unlock bootloader screen should instantly show up but it doesnt, if it doesnt show up instantly is something wrong or should i simply wait? and another question step 21 says to take the battery out while its booting and put it back in doesnt sound to safe to me should i disregard that? and just boot into the bootloader

Well i was able to fully root my phone with s-off and i wanna know how can i delete the apps that came with the phone like the blockbuster app and sprint tv app i dont need the extra bloatware how do i remove it?
Use a file manager like ES File Explorer. Set and allow it for root access and have fun..... BUT FIRST: MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP. You don't want to delete something important..... Always make a nandroid. Make sure you get the Wimax partition when you nandroid too.

It's not hard. It's an option that should be built in to your custom recovery.
The consensus is to us amon-ra smelkusMod recovery, or just plain amon-ra.
CWM and TWRP are okay, but amon-ra style recoveries are the best and more thorough.
Just use the search tool for smelkusmod
Well that was easy i honestly thought that was gonna be a lot harder to do now to start deleting bloatware and hopefully learn how to download some roms. if i load a rom does it delete everything on my phone like contacts text messages etc?

Yep. I think you can backup your texts with Handcent SMS. As far as your contacts go, you should have them synced to your Google account.

So i got my phone rooted now and now comes the big question, how to pick a rom ive been looking at roms for the past couple hours and i dont think i have the time to go through all those roms just to test them to see if i like them anyone got any suggestions?
I won't suggest a ROM, but if you want a stock feel, grab any Sense ROM. You can find the best Sense 1.0-3.x ROMs in the world in the Evo Dev threads. AOSP is a different story.... But you may wanna get your feet wet with a 2.3.5 or 2.3.7 ROM like Cm7 or Decks. They give you full functionality as well as customization. I personally feel ICS left a sour taste in most peoples mouths as well as some of the early staged Jellybean ports and builds, but a handful of them were VERY good. That's just my opinion though. I personally run newer Jellybean ROMs for the simple fact that I prefer the updated look/feel/effect even without the use of things like 4g, camcorder and HDMI plus a few other small things. I think I laid it out pretty well for you so with that said, welcome and post up if you need help. The development has mostly ceased around here, but the Devs and users alike are always around to help out.
So i just got a notification asking me if i wanted to update my phone to android 2.3.5 but since i just rooted my phone idk if i should update but another thing i looked up my android version and im already on 2.3.5 is there any reason why it would ask me to update

Data Is Messed-up Trying "Permanent Sim Unlock" NEED HELP

Hi, I really Jacked-up my G2 trying to follow the "Permanent Sim Unlock" thread. I thought it would be useful because I have a Sprint Sim in my phone and it is locked but when I tried it my Data connection is almost nonexistant. I am hoping someone can send me or upload the original files that were either over-written or deleted by the attempt such as the " Property, .xml. and the telephony.db " files.
Go ahead an insult me all you want...LOL... but I did a backup first but it did not undo the damage.....Someone please help me if you can. Thanks!
Just curious why you thought a sim unlock would be useful if you are on Sprints network? There would be no need to unlock sim if you are staying on their service, they use the sim to authenticate your LTE (data), and cdma (radio) to make calls. Those of us that dont want to use sprint service need the sim unlocked! I would go back to stock since you are on their service, follow the tutorial here, http://www.droidviews.com/how-to-restore-lg-g2-to-stock-firmware/
If you want to root after that use IORoot 25 found here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2618232
Then you can use apps with SU permissions but if you are going to stay on sprints network, there is no need for you to unlock the sim slot! Best of Luck!

Yes....I realized my misunderstanding after I did it. I also know that the best option for me is to go back to stock but I can't download a file that large (2.1 gig firmware) right now so I was looking for an alternative. I did the IORoot the first time and it did well so it is still rooted. I was just hoping someone could provide the original firmware files that were changed by using the method on the "Permanent Sim Unlock" thread. It shouldn't be that large of a file if someone could zip the 3 main files for me and I can undo the ".bak" of the app files. If no one wants to upload it I can give my email address and they can send it that way. So if someone is reading this that can take a few minutes out of their schedule to help me out I would appreciate it.
