Just a very quick comparison. I bought the Zagg Invisibleshield when I got my phone on day one. I was a little leary about doing this, as I had tried Zagg before and found it to be very "tacky/sticky" as well as having a lot of "orange peel". Well, nothing has changed...it went on very easy with not one bubble immediately after installation, but once again I found it to be extremely sticky. I put up with it for a few days hoping that would go away, or at least lessen a little bit but it did not.
Having used Phantom Skinz before, I went ahead and ordered just the screen kit...they had a special for 2 for $6 and some change. I ordered the kit on Thursday and received on Saturday (pretty awesome in my book). Installation was a breeze, went on without one bubble. I can tell you that there really is no comparison between the two. Phantom Skinz is as smooth as butter, no tackiness whatsoever...and very limited orange peel. Another bonus is that the edges don't pick up lint like the Zagg's do.
Like I said, just a very quick comparison for any of you that are on the fence. Just do a quick google for Phantom Skinz coupon code...it's something like summersale50 or something, but look it up if you want to save a couple bucks.
I might have to check this one out. My shield went on without a hitch. It has a mild orange peel look to it but I love the stickyness. It looks flawless though. I love how it gives my Evo a clear glossy slick look to it. The side pieces look like butt though. My fat fingers were not compatible with the tiny pieces of the shield. I used spray from my previous ghost armor on my iPad and the Evo came out slick.
Zagg was sticky with me for a little over a week. I've had it on a little under 2 weeks now and it's very smooth. I think it just needs to be "broken in".

Yea, I was waiting for it to break in as well, but no go. I had Zagg on my Droid for about a month and switched to Phantom...HUGE difference, trust me.

What is the differece? from the matte one and the clear one? Sorry for the simple question lol
Ordered my phantom skin today, Shipped conformation 30min later, Priority mail Cant wait
I actually ordered a Zagg shield on saturday. I liked it on my Samsung Moment, so I got it for my Evo.
With that phantom skin, can you use water, like with the Zagg, and squeegie it on?

Yes you do use a water solution with the phantom skin.
To anyone that has this protector, did you notice TINY little bubbles under the screen protector? Ive had these with other brands and they clear up overnight. My install went perfect, no air bubbles, and its as flat as the glass when held up to light. However, when the screen is black these tiny specs are still showing up on day 3. Its not dust or air bubbles, and is randomly placed all over the screen but probably covers 50% of it.
my phantom skinz in matte are very grainly looking. ive got one clairvue which is a lot better in my opinion although i got dust and junk underneath when i put it on because i pulled the top layer off and it pulled the screen.

I noticed this as well, but mine went away after several hours. One thing that may help you is setting it in sun for a half hour or so, then put it in front of an a/c register for 15-20 mins. The expanding and contracting worked for me.

Usually the tiny bubbles show up when there's not enough water underneath that part during install.
I've tried all of the products.. Zagg, Phantomskinz, Steinheil (SGP), regular..
Verdict? SGP is the best, in terms of quality and clarity. Pretty much, it seems like there isn't anything there.
Zagg and Phantomskinz are more or less the same.
I like the fact that Zagg already comes with the solution, but Phantomskinz you have to put it in warm soap water. Why? Don't ask me, thats just how they recommend it to be installed.

back from the dead!!!!
I noticed at the Sprint store yesterday, the screen protectors they sell for the EVO only cover the actual viewing area, they dont extend to the black area on the top, bottom, and sides like all of the other brands I've seen. If your having problems with your case pushing up the sides of the screen protector, might want to try these. The rep had it on his phone and it looked pretty decent, could barely tell it was on.
Anyone actually used these and have an opinion on them? My concern is that when I'm wiping of the screen, eventually the screen protector is going to start pulling up on the top and bottom edge.
I got a pack but didn't use them. I bought a invisasheild*

I've had one of these on my Evo since launch day and haven't had a problem. I wipe the screen off regularly and have never had a problem with the corners coming up. That being said, the protector has several scuffs and scratches whereas the uncovered part of the screen (everything but the viewing area) is pristine. Makes me wonder if a screen protector is even necessary.

Ya, that's the only thing with the sprint ones, they scuff VERY easily compared to other protectors.
there was a video of some guy working a nail on it and it didnt scratch... im not that brave LOL
I put one on my phone and my wife's (Both Evos). I ended up removing the protector after seeing that the glass on the unprotected parts still looked flawless and haven't put one back on yet. My wife still has hers on and it's fine. Neither of us has a case so it can be hard to tell our Evos apart, even with her screen protector. I have to pick one of the phones up and feel for a protector in order to figure out which is mine.
I do miss the anti-glare protector's ability to hide fingerprints. I'm trying to get used to a naked phone, but I'm not sure I ever will. At this point, if I put a protector back on my Evo it would only be to reduce fingerprint smudges.

are you using a matte type protector? from my experience with the crystal clear types they attract fingerprints way more then the glass does. the matte ones however are pretty good, but it degrades the screen quality too much for my liking.
i just bought and installed a phantom skinz... the verdict is out until the imperfections and small bubbles go away. right now it looks like crap!
I purchased the pack from sprint, it comes with 2 clear and 1 "anti-glare." At first i put on the anti-glare, but it ruined the quality of the screen. And the anti-glare is not all that great in my opinion, since it just make the reflection blurry. Since then i have removed the anti-glare and installed the clear screen protector, and the difference in screen quality is very apparent. Ive had the Evo since July 1st and the protector is holding up great, with no peeling from the corner at all.
I have one of the clear ones from Sprint and I'm loving it. I had another, which covered the full face but it kept peeling up due to the corners of my gel case. This one is much better in such an instance - and it's very clear. It's almost like having nothing there.
I've tried two different brand of anti-glare screen protectors and have been terribly disappointed so far.
The first one WOULD NOT stick to the edges of the screen, meaning I had a "bubble" around the entire perimeter of the screen. Not cool at all. I thought maybe it would go away after a few days, but it didn't.
The next one fit the screen perfectly, all the way to the edge all around...but made the screen look absolutely horrid. Like what an LCD looks like if it gets a tiny bit of water on it (can see little dots of RGB, I guess is my best description of it. I had to lick my computer screen to make sure). Any white background looked multicolored.
The Captivate screen is stupidly shiny, and has no resistance to fingerprints. I want both of these problems resolved. Anybody have suggestions?
I was wondering if there are any go to screen proctectors? Any to avoid, like do any cause issues with the touch screen?

I'd avoid the hard plastic static-type. They're difficult to put on without dust. I've been using the ones from clearprotector (.com). 50% off and free ship with the code iwantultra (have it memorized cause I've gotten several). The corners and edges are kind of a ***** to get on, but they work well and come with a lifetime warranty (or so they say...). This is a wet-application so don't use them unless you're willing to take the time to watch the youtube videos to learn how to install, and then takes about 20 minutes to install.
I get mine from www.bestskinsever.com. I've had no problems with them. The screen protector is easy to apply and very durable.
I have Ghost Armor on mine and like it, it is a bit smoother than Zagg or Bestskinsever.
Be warned if you want the full body protection, adding this to the back of my tab caused me to have the newton ring problem. I never had the problem with just the screen protector on, I should I have just stuck with the screen and not the entire thing but I really wanted the matte back on my tab.
Thanks fellas. I have and used to do/use the wet application ones for a while. Then I got tired of them and just went with the cling ones. I think I'll get the wet app and it should last a longgg time. Especially since Im not going to be using the tab every day.
I went with Clarivue on the recommendation of a friend.
It's decent enough, no tackiness or anything like that but it's not the best fitting, could've been a couple of mm wider and taller.
Other than that, whilst I've had a long-standing dislike for them, recently I've found Zagg's InvisibleShield protectors to be pretty decent - they seem to be very well fitted and the tacky feel to them that I remember doesn't seem as noticeable.
Kinda wish I'd gone with them for my Tab
Which would you guys say offers the smoothest screen experiences of all? I don't care about longevity as I only use my tab about once every 2 weeks
Imo the smoothest would be the cling on ones.

I purchased these in July from Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0058NXPLK
I was never a fan of the "wet" applications, to me it just seemed like too much work and I was never comfortable spraying any type of liquid all over my devices, regardless of how harmless they might be.
But anyway, this is a clear, non-matte protector that is the "static cling" kind of application. Once it goes on properly, you cannot see that is even there. The touch feeling is the same as if you had no protector on. I really feel that those matte ones, while they do reduce sun-glare, a lot of them provide a "tacky" feeling that maybe is fine for a smaller screen such as a phone, but can become very annoying for a larger screen if you do a lot of swiping across the larger surface area of a tablet. But that is a personal thing....I usually don't use my tablet outside in the bright sun anyway, so the matte types are useless for me.
I've had it on since the end of July and it's held up very well. You do have to wipe the smudges off the screen occasionally, but you'd have to do that anyway even with no protector. I'm extremely satisfied with these.
So I've got an Invisible Shield en route for my Tab, will post back when it arrives.
Same here haha.

I just bought the glare-reduction screen protector from BodyGuardz. Has anyone else had any experience with them? I wanted something that would offer a decent amount of protection for the screen (fingerprint and physical pressure), but also not reduce the touch sensitivity at all. (I type with the tip of my nose since I can't use my fingers, and trying to press too hard hurts )
Not sure where you can get it, but here in Singapore there's a brand called DataFlex and their screen protectors seem really good.
I bought SGP steinheil shield ultra optics. I liked it.

So this newton ring issue is a major problem. What if I just protect the back and leave the screen open? I have the new logitech keyboard case on the way and the front is protected in the case, but the back is exposed. I planned on protecting the back only. But I wont do anything if it'll case the newton rings.
Newton Ring?

Yeah. Same here. Just want a more "grippy" back. How does one produce Newton Rings from the back of the device. Methunked it was a display issue resulting from the interaction of the protector and display glass...kinda by definition...
Hopefully we'll find out soon. I just want to protect the back.

I blame the install of the rear skin because I had the screen skin installed first and then three weeks later I had the rear done. He turned the tab face down and installed the skin. When he turned it over, bam, Netwon Rings...
I never had them before the front screen protector, during the front screen protector install or after the front protector was on the Tab.
Will it happen to you? I have no idea but from what I have read about the problem it is caused because of the Tab moving/flexing which can be caused by excessive heat and certain handling of the Tab.
thanks!

I bought an anti-glare protector from Cellularbuy on eBay and managed to get it on in one go with no dust at all. The protector fits perfectly and the camera and light sensor holes line up spot on. The anti-glare makes the screen look a little grainy, but I hear that even the Steinhell ones that are many times more expensive have the same problem.
This has been gone over millions of times on each forum here, but here's how I did it:
-Wipe the screen down with a soft cloth and glasses cleaner or isopropyl to get any grease off
-Run the shower in a small bathroom on hot until the room is unbearably steamy
-Put on a hat to keep your hair and head funk from falling on the screen
-Line the protector up on the screen before removing the film and tape it on one side with a few pieces of Scotch tape
-Also make a "handle" out of tape to put on the top of the protector opposite the taped-down end. This will help with alignment
-Go into the bathroom and clean the screen with a good microfiber cloth. Also clean the front and back protective sheets on the film so there's no dust to come off when you start peeling them. The steam should be enough to wet it. Take one final look
-Peel the protector back and lay it down pulling the taped edge taut to keep it lined up
-Smooth any bubbles out with a credit card BEFORE peeling the top sheet off
IF you do have any dust, use a piece of tape on a corner to lift up the protector and another piece of tape to pick up the dust. If the room is steamy enough and you did a good job of wiping the screen this shouldn't happen.
Ive had the invisible shield on my tablet for a month. I thought I would LOVE it, since I have it on my phone, but the texture, on a bigger screen really annoys me! I spent $30 including the installation, and Im tempted to get a cheap $1 protector cuz they dont have texture
Does anybody else have this problem?
I would rather have to get a new $1 screen protector every 2 months than always be annoyed by the invisible shield...
I personally have ghost armor on my tablet an love it (ghost armored all my mobile devices including my 2 playstation portables) an the feel ghost armor has to me is nice as long as nothing sticky touches the screen it remains nice an smooth as silk
I went with my gut feeling and bought a cheap screen protector and I enjoy the a100 even more cuz I can actually scroll or move apps around
i bought a set of 3 Fosmon protectors for about $8, they work good, i messed up 2 of them but the 3rd one went on good, actually i got the 2nd one on perfectly, then when i removed the top layer i accidentally pulled up the screen protector too.....i didnt even realize it for a couple of minutes, i sure was mad
(the font camera hole is in the right place but it doesnt have the little cut out for the home button like my first screen protector had, but it doesnt need it because works perfectly)
i give this screen protector an A
the ones i got from Newegg are: Fosmon Crystal Clear Screen Protector Shield for Acer Iconia Tab A100 (3 pack).....i tried to put the link but it will not allow me to post links until 8 posts

this is the first time ive heard of ghost armor .. when i get my tablet back im gonna ghost armor the **** outta it lol alsom my htc g2 is gna be gettin some ghost armor shortly as well i wanna go clear but do you think the white would look good ??
i just put the Skinomi Carbon Fibre skin on my A100. It's just automotive grade vinyl sticker, but it protects against scratches and keeps the tab slim enough to fit in my pockets. The vinyl is textured and not as "grippy" as the stock slick back is, so it slides around in my hand a bit more than without the skin on it. Overall though it looks way better than the blue wavy Acer back, imo.
It came with a screen protector but I haven't bothered to put it on yet. I like the feel of the Gorilla Glass too much.
took mine off. had a zagg. I'm just being careful with mine and so far the screen is just fine
I use XOskins on the two tablets and four phones we have at our house right now. They are a wet install and take about 48 hours to fully clear all the bubbles out, be careful with any wet install protector when putting a case on that it doesnt grab the edge. XOskins does make phone screen protectors full size and case cut which are trimmed 1/8" all around. For whatever reason both tablets were easier installs then the phones, meaning almost zero bubbles when first installed but they clear out anyway. Keep your fingers wet for best results.
Now as far as clarity goes these are crystal clear, extremely durable and also come with lifetime replacements. Google for a discount code, usually a 20-30% code to use.
I had a protector on that screen for nearly a year before i finally got tired of the texture. I removed it and have been using it with no protector and its smooth and feels just fine.
I really haven't had anything close to a scratch like I have with smartphones in the past, since it doesn't reside in my pocket constantly in motion, it just doesn't get the wear and tear. Even the shiny coating on the case is still stock-perfect and I haven't been babying it.
It doesn't seem to be as important to protect this tablets screen as it does with a more roughly-handled phone.
