My wireless password - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I connected my arc to my son's wireless network at his house. He did not know his password but I was able to find it on his laptop and then connected my arc and his X10 to his wireless network.
Great... they both work fine.
Now his laptop died and we do not know the password. Our phones still connect to his network fine but IS THERE A WAY to see the actual password that I have stored on my Arc for his wireless network?
Cheers

Can you access the router via its ip address and hopefully he has the login details and you can get the password from there I think

Wireless Connections - from MDA3 to belkin wireless router

HEEEEEELLLLPPP!
I have managed to connect to my wireless router at home via my MDA3 but whenever I open IE and try and surf it responds by telling me that the page isnt available. ie. it cannot surf the net!
As soon as I put the MDA3 into the cradle it works fine. I know these are two different ways of connecting to a network but how do you surf the net via WiFi to your home wireless network?
Hello meatychi,
Try connecting the MDA3 as the only device on the router. You may have to switch off other devices first and reboot the router.
I have this problem too, and i can NOT use my pda2k and the Fujitsu laptop at the same time on the wireless router. It will work if the laptop is hooked up via cable and the pda2k is on wireless, but never together.
I returned the router to the shop and we tested it there. It all worked as it should with their wireless equipment, which leads me to believe that the wireless components in my Fujitsu laptop interfere somehow.
Let me know how you go.
Regards,
Atze.
Interesting!
The only other device I have on wireless is my mac and that wasnt on when trying to get the MDA to work.
Did you use a static IP or DHCP?
Could you give a little more detail into the way you setup your PDA to communicate with your wireless router?
Initially I used DHCP, when that didn't work I switched to static IPs
which didn't help either. I even throttled the router back to 802.11b, as I thought that the two different protocols may be in a tangle, but... you guessed it. No luck.
After all this I reverted back to DHCP and switched the router back to 802.11b+802.11g. The laptop is back on a cable
Everytime I try something with both devices hooked wireless I have to restart the router, as it will no longer work with either device.
I have set up the pda2k as follows:
Connect to Work network,
Using WPA-PSK authentication
TKIP Data Encryption
It is set to access All Available networks,
Automatically connect to non-preferred networks
Use server-assigned IP address
Leave DNSs and WINSs blank
Performance is usually set to Best Battery, but I vary that when I go downstairs. (doesn't appear to improve the range thoug I think it's pretty poor.)
Auto turn of WLAN if not connected is ticked to kick in after 2 minutes.
Regards,
Atze.
Thanks for the info I will try again tonight!
i'LL LET YOU KNOW HOW i GET ON!

Wifi Tether on PS3 and Encryption Question

So I'm using wireless tether app and it runs great on my PC. My PC's wifi card found my phone with no problem and connected to it. I gave my PC access control in the app and I can now access internet. However, when attempting to scan for networks on my playstation 3 it does not see my phone. I have assigned an SSID from within the app. Also, something else I noticed that was weird if anyone knows, I enabled wifi encryption but the setup methods threw me off with the Auto, iwconfig, and wpa_supplicant. I chose wpa_supplicant and gave the phone a password but when I connected my PC to the tether it never prompted me for a password (weird?). So if anyone knows what all this stuff means and also how I can get my playstation 3 to see my phone please let me know! Thanks in advance!!
Read this on another forum... but i believe it holds true...
"The PS3 will only connect to an Infrastructure Access Point. The wifi tether can only create an Ad-Hoc connection."
from this forum
You can however connect your PC/Laptop through wifi tether... then connect the PS3 to the PC with an ethernet cable... and internet connection sharing (ICS) enabled on that port.

Cisco access point

I have a cisco WAPN610 access point. I have my desktop, google tv, xbox360 and my wdhdtvlive hooked up to it via wireless. I can't get my phone to obtain an ip address from this. I can connect to the router that is connected to my access point, but can't figure out why my phone won't connect. Google told me to try and use only B/G networks, but that didn't work.
Anyone have this same issue, or know of something I can try to fix this?
Thanks in advance!

Under wireless networks on your phone does it see the access point? Just won't pick up an IP address??
Are you able to connect your phone to any other wireless networks?? Public Wifi at starbucks or McDonalds or something??
Could either be a bad WPA authentication or faulty wireless radio in your phone if other devices work.
Have you tried forgetting the network under wireless and networks then rebooting the phone just to be sure it's gone then re connect?

thanks for replying. I can access wifi at work and I can at my friends house. Whenever there is an open connection, it works like a charm, but for whatever reason, when I try to connect at home, it connects, but won't obtain an IP address. I think I can set it up manually and use a static IP. I was doing some googling at work and found something. Very confusing to say the least.
And yes, I have tried to forget it and all that.
thanks again for trying!
how many dhcp leases do you have setup? Depending on how many devices connect, i typically don't setup anymore than 10, but i would try increasing that. What encryption are you using? wpa2/wpa? Is it broadcasting in n or g or is it setup for mixed.

I'm not sure how many dhcp leases I have set up, but I only have 3 things connecting to the access point. My google TV, Wii, and my desktop. I had it set to broadcast mixed (b,g and N) but changed that to just b/g as another suggested. I am also using wpa2.

Is there a solution for the wifi issue?

I got this phone and now I know about the problem with the wifi I cannot connect to any network via dhcp. The phone just keeps looping but it never gets up. I read a lot about this issue and some people is blaming the routers which is wrong. how is it possible that my pc, nexus 7, smart tv, receiver and blu ray are connected and my phone not?
I am able to connect if I put static ip. But when I want to connect to a public wifi or hotspot which requires to enter a password on a web page I can't.
So is there really a solution beside changing the phone or putting static ipĀ”

[Q] WIFI connection issues - 'Failed to connect to network'

I have a Xperia S running Jellybean (4.1.2) on standard ROM, and I cant connect it to my home network.
I have a Huawei HG523a router on TalkTalk (UK) and for the last month I have had a problem where it wont connect stating 'Failed to connect to Network'. I can see the SSID and have connected by entering the WEP key and also connected through WPS.
On the rare occasion it does connect, as soon as I attempt to use the internet the WIFI kicks me off.
I now this might be an issue with my router and I have posted a similar post on my ISP forum to see if this is the issue.
If you need any info that might help or make it easier for you all to pinpoint the problem let me know and i will do my best to supply that info.
Many thanks
Make sure the MAC address filtering on the router isnt kicking you guys out of the network.
