[APP] VoiceToGo from SGS 2 - fully working - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

I've just managed to make VoiceToGo work perfectly. Copy the so files in /system/lib and the apk in /system/app. Very cool app!!
Do not flash with CWM. Just unzip and copy in the above locations.

cool but you can just download the vlingo app from the market which is the same thing and gets updated etc.

How is vlingo app from the market compare with S2 VoiceToGo?

Better looking, In cat mode is not beta and probably more efficient. The only disadvantage is that it cannot be updated...

Complete ICS App Collections for Android 2.2+

The Ice cream Sandwich has a really mind blowing UI, Google tried to modify almost all system apps.
Here is some original app collections, which really works for Gingerbread & other older versions.
The Apps Collections
Android Market 3.2.0
Google Music 4.0.1
Google Maps 5.11.0
Street View 1.7.0.4
Google+ 2.0.0
Just install like a normal app. Will be updated as soon as more apps available.
If anyone has problems installing market 3.2.0, try this post. This may be helpful to you.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297040
Note : There may be updated versions of the apps listed, but this is just a collection from Galaxy Nexus.
Any hope for the launcher? Or the browser? Or Somthing else interesting....
are those install APK, or just copy and replace over old APK ?
Market and Music installed ok.
Not having any luck with Maps and Street View. Do they even have any significant changes?
Maps is not 5.10.2
It's the ownhere/Brut.all 5.10.1 mod of the maps...

Well there is a launcher but its not as good or near good compared to the actual ICS launcher
And for the browser I would also like to see it ported to any device

Yes i now that fake ICS Launcher....and i hate it. Is is not good in anything. Before i use something like that i use Go launcher and istall a ICS Theme.....
Thx. But the market not works on HTC Wildfire S.
Start the install and then:
"application not installed"
What is the problem ? :|
(This works only whit root -ed phones? )
Thanks you very much !
But I have the same prob than zoltank but for Music, Market et Google+ =/
It's not the first time i install the three but here, everytime "app not installed" and my phone is rooted so it's not that =/
Any ideas ?
try uninstalling the old apps before installing the new ones
Too bad no =(
Uninstall the Market, i came back on the 1st version on the Nexus but it's the same, now the update roll on and i'm again with 3.1.5.
No prob, that will coming in time =)
Thank you !
i was able to install everything except Market 3.2
i uninstalled the old one and wiped cache, kelvin, etc...
any ideas?
solved
rebooted the phone
then i was able to install
now that it's installed, i get Force Close every time i try to install something from market
going back to 3.1.5
Hi, if you are having trouble installing the market try this. Its what I did to get it working on my o2x
You will need root explorer
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297322
Market doesn't work on Galaxy S Plus
Thanks for these
Market works perfectly on rooted Flyer. The tiles fill out the screen nicer than 3.1.5. No force close issues. On edit: it drops an error when trying to get a non-free app....
G+ breaks the People (htccontacts.apk) app.
Music installs, but I use the HTC one so not much testing after install.
Maps, untested.
Street view, untested.
---
On edit: Maps installs and works. Street view errors on install.
G+ app works perfectly on stock N1 on 2.3.6, no adverse side effects. Been using it since it originally leaked a couple-ish weeks ago.

My guess is the ones already in the first post are the only ones that are gonna install on gingerbread. You can take all the apps from the galaxy nexus dump, put them in a folder on your sdcard, and browse to it with root explorer. you'll see the only ones that have none default icons are the ones in the first post. the ones with app icons are the only ones that actually install. all other give parsing errors since you need ICS to install them.

Removable System Apps [Info]

Recently I was asked which system apps can be removed without issue. This is what I have removed from various ROMs and haven't had any problems. Keep in mind that some of these are keyboards and launchers so you would want to have another installed before you remove them. If anyone else has removed other things not listed feel free to add in info.

As with anything like this. Making a full Nandroid backup before slimming the system/app directory is a GOOD idea. I have removed each and every one of these apps listed without issue. But you may have different results.
I would also like to thank VegaRooted for their thread located below. I found alot of useful info in there.

Apps Safe to Remove from Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch (Sprint)
Thanks for the list. Out of curiosity, what's your preferred tool for system app removal and are there any special steps you usually take beyond the obvious?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
I personally use root explorer to remove and SD maid to clean up the remaining files. But you can use titanium backup to remove as well. I also move certain apps back to system/app. Like ADW EX and some Google apps.
Edit: remember to set permissions on any app you put back into system/app to rw/r/r

What is the intended purpose of removing this bloatware? To gain more RAM, ROM on a phone that has more than most out there already? Just saying!
Background apps use system resources, prevent deep sleep, and waste battery.

Exactly. I do it for this reason and I like having my system as clean and thinned down as possible. I don't like having apps in my app drawer that I don't use or never will. And it does make a difference in battery life and performance.
I use aCalendar for density reasons, if I delete the stock calendar will it still sync with Google?
TB is the easiest way to delete bloat and system apps IMHO.
It should be fine as long as you leave the calendar sync adapter. If it was me I would backup both the calendar and calendar sync adapter apks and then remove them and see if it works. If not. Then restore the sync adapter

I would rather freeze it with the line pm disable com. Samsung with terminal as that one is needed to update prl and profiles. And while it isn't needed often it still is needed. So that it all up to the user. If one wanted they could remove it. Thank you for adding info. Its very much appreciated.
Also I found another thread burried in the themes section that had alot of info on removable apps. I am going to try to dig it up and credit that user as I got some info from them.
Bah! Your right! lol, system updates makes the settings FC. Oh well I'll just run it when I flash the next ROM. Thanks.

Good post, was looking for a concise list!
Yes, thx for the list but:
I am presuming that these apps are to be removed from> /system/app folder, is this correct?
Also, do they reside anywhere else and if yes, do they also need to be removed from that hidding spot aswell?
Sry, its the NOOB in me peaking out!
If this has been already answered, I apologize in advance.

Most custom roms have the ability to deny apps permissions. If you don't have the option on your current rom then try out:
Permission Denied- https://play.google.com/store/apps/...SwxLDMsImNvbS5zdGVyaWNzb24ucGVybWlzc2lvbnMiXQ..
I use this on ICS just to keep pandora and other apps at bay
-ROM Manager
-Titanium Backup
-UCam Ultra camera
-Terminal
-Quick Office Pro
-XDA

Opera Mini/Chrome

Have you tried clearing data/uninstalling updates for the play store under 'manage applications'?
Not sure if this will fix it. I've read in other places that flashing a different version of the market and letting it update again will fix the problem.

Widgets
How about some of your favorite widgets? I have room on my homescreens and nothing comes to mind on what to fill it with!
UCCW-My new favorite Widget!
Root Explorer-I really prefer the interface to ES. Enough, I was willing to pay for it.
Camera360 Ultimate- Best camera app IMO.
Docs To Go-Best pdf/doc viewer I have found.
Dropbox-If you haven't gotten a Dropbox account yet, you need to click HERE.
Google Voice-Been using this since Beta for VM. Love it.
Google Music-As soon as I could, I jumped on this bandwagon.
Jump Desktop- awesome and easy remote desktop access.
Zumocast-Because Jump doesn't allow the same kind of file transfer (had to get a hacked version to work with DInc2).
MD5 Checker-Self explanitory if you're rooted
PdaNet-Wired and Wireless Tether in one app.
The Chive-Keep Calm and Chive On!
GotYa! Face Trap-If I lost my phone or it was stolen, I would be very glad to have this app on there.
XDA Premium of course.

What browsers do you guys use? I've been using Maxthon for a while but used to use Dolphin
goo.im - to keep on top of new ROM/gapps/kernel etc.

JoyOS apps on CM7 or stock ROMs

After trying JoyOS ROM I really liked the camera and notes applications. When I then moved on to try both CM7 and stock-based ROMs I wondered if I could use the JoyOS camera and notes applications on them. I found that I could install them without any trouble, simply by extracting the appropriate APK (listed below) and in a file manager, clicking on them and choosing "Install".
The interface of the camera application is very clean and provides a lot of space for the preview image. Unfortunately the settings causes a FC when in camera mode but strangely it seems to work OK when in video mode. Go figure!
What I like about the Notes application is that for each note you can quickly switch between a standard note or a checklist. So you can use one application for both purposes. Also included are two (2) widgets.
I'd love to know how to get the Clock application working because unlike the stock Samsung clock application it offers a stopwatch, timer and world clock. Unfortunately the cities' labels in the world clock are in Chinese but the timer and stopwatch functions look good and work well. At the moment I'm using a combined stopwatch and timer app but honestly, I prefer the JoyOS one.

might not work, so backup first, but copy the clock app into system/app set permissions to r-w-r--r-- delete the previous clock if you havent, then reboot. you can move the original clock to sd card and if not work, then just put in system app and set permissions :highfive:

2. Adobe Flash works on the AOSP browser and can be downloaded for Adobe but its included
In my drop box apk folder
3. Polaris Office 5 also included in drop box
4. Pandora unlocked by Rydah805. Unlimited skips and no ads.
Disclaimer: not all apks work with flo, I have tested the ones mentioned but I am not responsible for anything that happens to your device. As always, back up before any changes are to be done.
