What causes force closes on stock roms? How could one cause that to happen?
Thanks,
Cryous

I had to send my Dinc in due to a touch screen malfunction. Warranty replaced.

it could be corrupt data. try clearing the cache for the app that force closes via settings > manage applications.

I'm more so asking how to cause the issue the issue not how to fix it I guess. Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App

Reinstall a sense 3.0 rom over cm7 without wiping, then restore system data, pretty sure that would do it.
If ive helped you, please hit the damn thanks button!

Force Close monster gets my vote.

Browser trouble since 3.29 update

I just flashed the 3.29 software update yesterday and everything was great, but I discovered today that I have a new problem with the built-in browser - whenever a page is loading and I touch anything (like x or the back button) the browser instantly force closes.
What can I do about this? Could a different kernel (I'm on stock now) make a difference?
Any ideas are appreciated.

Go into manage applications force stop the browser and clear all data/cache then reboot and see if that helps.

I did what you said, but it hasn't fixed the problem, only made the force close delayed by a few seconds. What else can I try?

You can try booting into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik-cache then reboot. And if that still doesn't help I guess you could re-flash the rom or try an entirely different one.

Thanks for your help, man. I tried flashing a custom kernel and in the process I wiped cache and dalvik, but the problem has persisted. You think just reflashing the ROM could solve the problem?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Yeah that would be my next step...I'd wipe the important 3 then re-flash. Trying a different ROM wouldn't hurt either.

Thanks for your help. I think I'll reflash the current ROM. I like stock Sense UI.

it sets the proper permissions for all the apps, it helps in some cases of programs force closing
Same thing as fix permissions in Rom Manager... can clear up force closes. It makes sure the file permissions for your apks are correct, and if not it corrects them.

thanks guys

[Q] HELP!

I'm not rooted, and I'm on the leaked RUU. Anyway, I really need help. My phone no matter what won't stop force closing the same process every time i click force close. It is com.android.phone and it won't let me do anything. I have less than a second between every force close. It randomly started when I was listening to music.
That sucks, but there really isn't anything you can do. Your stuck unless you can get a XTC clip. I think you might be able to flash the new RUU, but I'm not sure if you can.
The RUU wasn't the problem. I just had to do a factory reset.

Evo force close and download issues

Guys I'm running decks evo-gingerbread-deck-1.2.1 coupled with the tiamat 4.0.6 I'm having trouble downloading anything that isn't from the market itself. Everytime I try to download it shows up with an error message saying unsuccessful. Also every app on my phone is force closing at random. Rom manager, youtube, gallery, facebook, etc. Any ideas?

reflash the rom, and try a different kernal this time
I've tried this multiple times. Same result
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
you have tried a different kernal?
I've tried the stock kernel for the rom, synergy, and tiamat including sbc.

Make sure you wipe everything besides the sdcard. Once the ROM installed wipe dalvik cache before installing the kernel. I have found this to help fix the FC.
Thanks guys the force close issue is fixed but it still will not allow me to DL outside xda or the market

Clear the market data/cache.
Also, delete the "android.secure" folder on your sdcard.
You should also run fix permissions to correct force close issues.
I can't figure out how to fix permissions with amon-ra recovery

In recovery, select other, then fix uid mismatches. That's it. Also, if you have rom manager you can fix permissions from there as well.

ok... as long as your phone is rooted, it's easy to troubleshoot.
