I'm looking for an attachable gamepad for the Vibrant, something like this: Game Gripper or this: iControlPad (But much less $$$$, $119, SERIOUSLY!!?)
Obviously not exactly like this (we don't have a keyboard).
I really just want something with a Dpad and/or joystick and a few buttons that will physically attach to the phone so I can hold the gamepad and phone as one unit.
I've searched, but haven't found what I'm looking for, any suggestions?
I have no idea if the bluetooth stack would support it, but I remembered seeing this back when I was looking at gamepads for WM.

Thanks for the link, it is very close to what I'm looking for.
I really want something that will work in landscape mode.

I'm thinking about putting together some kind of usb console-like controller with a mounting dock for the Atrix. It wouldn't be outrageously bulky and would provide pspesque functionality. I don't see why games couldn't be coded to use the gamepad input, and most of the code for the device driver should already exist. It would be great for emulators and new games. Does anyone think this is a good idea?

Should work fine. Youd need to make the joystick self powered and send 5vdc to the matrix with an OTG adapter. I'd suggest trying to use the controller from a USB keyboard that would maximize compatibility.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
Excellent ^^
This sounds like a great idea. Couldn't find any good bluetooth gamepads for the Atrix. All of them are just controllers, and I want something that holds the cellphone so I can play when I'm traveling.
Can you please tell us how is this project going?.
im glad someone else brought this up as Ive been thinking about doing something similar as well. Ive modeled a few desk docks for the atrix so far (still in the process of being machined) but a game pad would be cool.
if you need any model help, post some sketches and id love to help out on this.
Atrix FTW!
duct tape + ps3 controller.
I don't know if n64oid current supports physical buttons besides zeemote.
Sent from my Motorola Atrix 4G on the network with the most backhaul, whatever that is. This post might have errors as I hate touchscreen keyboards.
i've found that with:
Code:
adb shell
input keyevent [number]
You can act like you have a physical keyboard. Maybe can be useful to someone!
Ive been using emulators + Wii mote with the Atrix, the classic controller works too. It would be awesome to be able to play other games with it also.
Ive tried wiimote & zeemote but none of them work with 3d shooters apart from quake etc. Could the app be written to take over the on-screen thumb stick & firebutton, as the keyboard & mouse don't even do this.
Thanks
I have been searching and searching for a bluetooth keyboard w/ trackpad to no avail.
Can someone recommend me the best keyboard in your opinion that connects great with the GNex? preferably one that has a trackpad on it.

Bump for interest.
Preferably something that doesn't suck.
I'd be looking for confirmation, but I bet one of the BT keyboards intended for use with the Xoom or GT 10.1 would be good for the Nexus because they have the Android keys in place and are meant to be used with Android. No trackpad, but I don't think you'll find a lot of those...
Also FWIW I hooked up my Apple Bluetooth Keyboard and it worked great. Command+Tab works for task switching, and interestingly volume up/down keys, as well as play/pause and forward/back track selection works as well. Kinda cool.
Please excuse the thread necromancy, but I have a good answer to this question:
I found a review of various bluetooth keyboards on Engadget: The Best Bluetooth Keyboard
I ended up getting their top recommendation, the Microsoft Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard 5000 (the cheaper version without the numberpad, which is otherwise identical). I paid $33. It rocks.
I don't agree with their review in a few ways.
1) the build quality is fine. It feels firm but not too firm, and it doesn't seem flimsy at all.
2) backspace isn't hard to reach, it's fine.
3) it's cheaper than they priced it.
Things that don't work: windows key doesn't do anything in android (I wish it performed either "Home" or "Menu"). The mute button doesn't do anything (but volume keys work as intended). F-keys don't do anything either. However, alt-tab works wonderfully.
Logitech DiNovo Edge (google that as I cannot post links yet)
I actually use this keyboard with my computer (typing on it this very second) and I love it. Its very flat and has great key feel, not to mention cordless and lasts a couple of months on a single charge.
It meets the requirements of the original poster being a bluetooth keyboard with a trackpad, but I would caution that it is not a cheap one. I have had this one for a few years and I think I paid a couple hundred for it. I am sure cheaper solutions might exist, but he said he wanted the "best."
Has anyone tried using both a bluetooth mouse and keboard? I want to use both to take notes in class, read powerpoints, etc. Mostly easy basic stuff like that.
I am thinking of getting the Minisuit keyboard since it seems to balance well inside the slot. I don't want a full case, so this seems like the best option for me right now. unless some can tell me of an option that comes with a stand like this, that is cheaper....

The mouse part is confusing me. There seem to be a lot of brands I'm not familiar with. And many mice with poor reviews. Does anyone have experience with one that has worked well at a fair price?
Thanks!
EDIT: Or will any basic bluetooth mouse work? I figured it had to be designed to work with android.

I've used the Logitech K810 keyboard successfully, and I've used Microsoft's Wedge mouse successfully, but I couldn't get both of them to work at the same time. I did not troubleshoot, and it's possible there's a way to fix the glitch, I'm just reporting my experience.
I love the Logitech keyboard. Originally I bought it for occasional use and traveling, but it's so good that I use it as my everyday keyboard at my desk. Just as advertised, it pairs smoothly with up to three devices. When I use it at my desk, I use a regular (not Bluetooth) wireless mouse.
My Anker Ultra-Slim keyboard and Microsoft Notebook Mouse 5000 work together just fine on my 2013 N7. Sometimes I first have to unpair and re-pair them to get them to connect but after that they work.
I use Logitech K810 keyboard and T610 mouse. Both are Bluetooth and you can switch when using it with your PC or MacBook.
Works great... But the problem is that the mouse sometimes just last out of the blue. Had to reboot. There is a thread in Google forums that discussed this and this is a known flaw that Google has not fixed.
TL;DR; - Looking for Slide out game controller case, you seen one?
I'm looking for a rather specific case for the HTC One m7...
I've been looking around for awhile (aka about 3/4 months on&off), I'm basically sending this out into the interwebs to get a few extra eye's on the look-out or if there's a electronics hacker guru out there who has any idea's to create this.
The key feature of this is a slide out gamepad controller, similar to the Xperia Play. Below is some similar stuff I've managed to find but unfortunately they are designed for Iphone 4/5
Or you could just get a Moga Controller...(I know it's not a case...)
Yeah I would love something like this. Like if I could have a SNES controller, with a bracket even, I would be in love
You might be interest in this. http://www.nes30.com
The it comes with a phone kickstand as well and it's pretty sweet looking too boot.
why dont you buy wireless sixaxis controller then put your phone into lazy pod hehe thats what Im doing
more looking for something that is constantly on the phone, so i can play a game whenever the mood strikes me without having to carry additional stuff around

If you can find something that fits the Galaxy S4, it should be close enough to fit the HTC One M7.
I know this isn't what you're looking for, but I came from the Xperia Play and this controller is now my go to when it comes to gaming.

Some game stream games like LoL and Diablo 3 can be played using a keyboard and mouse. This doesnt even account for the productivity bump of having kb/mouse. Ive been looking for an affordable bluetooth kb/mouse but cant seem to find anything im sold on.
Id like something small and portable, rechargeable via USB would be a plus but not required. Id also dont want to break the bank. Hoping to get both for under $75. A keyboard that can be folded or collapsed for portability would be good but not if the trade off is quality or price.
Has anyone been using a bt kb/mouse and if so any recommendations?
Thanks
Edit: Should mention i have the shield tablet

Im also looking into the same thing. As I also Play D3 but Ive tried to find something in my local Best Buy but to no avail. The lighted Logitech keyboard that is meant for a mac or iphone in the apple section worked GREAT but it did cost 75 alone. Only suitable mouse found there was 56.

They sure did. Both work great. They keyboard is super thin and really portable. Very lightweight. And the mouse is good and solid on the weight as it takes 2 AA batts. Im happy with both.
I love using my Logitech K810 and Razer Orochi, Both Bluetooth, and work really well with the Shield tablet!
Cool ill take a look into it. Still waiting on the cover to come. Really liking the shield controller. Excited to see how games like Diablo 3 or LoL work with kb/mouse. Any other recommendations would be great. Thanks
I have the Logitech for Androids/Windows BT keyboard and that works well, although I mostly use the Logitech MX5500 that I have for my desktop PC at home and work (and the mouse that comes with it)... I just find that mouse and keyboard so incredibly comfortable to use. Would vouch for most Logitech stuff in this space.
