Has anyone tried using both a bluetooth mouse and keboard? I want to use both to take notes in class, read powerpoints, etc. Mostly easy basic stuff like that.
I am thinking of getting the Minisuit keyboard since it seems to balance well inside the slot. I don't want a full case, so this seems like the best option for me right now. unless some can tell me of an option that comes with a stand like this, that is cheaper....

The mouse part is confusing me. There seem to be a lot of brands I'm not familiar with. And many mice with poor reviews. Does anyone have experience with one that has worked well at a fair price?
Thanks!
EDIT: Or will any basic bluetooth mouse work? I figured it had to be designed to work with android.

I've used the Logitech K810 keyboard successfully, and I've used Microsoft's Wedge mouse successfully, but I couldn't get both of them to work at the same time. I did not troubleshoot, and it's possible there's a way to fix the glitch, I'm just reporting my experience.
I love the Logitech keyboard. Originally I bought it for occasional use and traveling, but it's so good that I use it as my everyday keyboard at my desk. Just as advertised, it pairs smoothly with up to three devices. When I use it at my desk, I use a regular (not Bluetooth) wireless mouse.
My Anker Ultra-Slim keyboard and Microsoft Notebook Mouse 5000 work together just fine on my 2013 N7. Sometimes I first have to unpair and re-pair them to get them to connect but after that they work.
I use Logitech K810 keyboard and T610 mouse. Both are Bluetooth and you can switch when using it with your PC or MacBook.
Works great... But the problem is that the mouse sometimes just last out of the blue. Had to reboot. There is a thread in Google forums that discussed this and this is a known flaw that Google has not fixed.

Hi everyone... as I mentioned in the title, I need a keyboard for my Prophet, and I'm not quite sure as to what the possibilities are in terms of connections...
Can I use PS2 or USB via an adapter to Mini-USB? Or am I limited to Bluetooth keyboards? Any suggestions as to certain models?
Thanks in advance!
PS2-USB / USB keyboard is certainly a no no. Bluetooth is definately workable, but I think there are these IR keyboard as well. Do a ebay check on these.. there are some for PDA in general, but maybe works for Prophet. Have a try.
Hmmm, I suppose the USB-Nono is because of the missing USB Host in the Prophet? Or is there something I'm missing?
The problem with Bluetooth keyboards, of course, is that they're so expensive... does the Apple Bluetooth keyboard work with the Prophet? It's pretty much the cheapest one available over here in Germany (~60 Euros).
Yes, the missing USB host. And yes, bluetooth keyboards are expensive and you also have the issue of having another device to charge.
I'm not sure about the Apple bluetooth keyboard .. as it being an Apple product, which is quite 'close' (i.e. you can't use the Apple USB mouse/keyboard on a PC, I think). You'll need to do you own research.

Untrue. Apple keyboards and mice have worked in Windows since about Win 98. I know they work in XP for a fact, no additional drivers required.
I think that as long as any bluetooth keyboard supports the HID profile, it will work in our Windows Mobile devices.
I've attempted to pair my Apple BT keyboard with both my Treo 750v and my HTC Advantage (both WM5).
In both cases, the pairing works OK and the keyboard offers the "Input Device" service. However, I can't get the keyboard to actually do anything beyond this point. The bluetooth icon on the 750v shows that bluetooth is inactive and it doesn't keep a live connection open to the keyboard.
I don't know that it is anything to do with the Apple keyboard but I've not used other BT keyboards to know how it should work. The keyboard pairs and operates perfectly fine with my PS3, for instance, so I don't think it is in any way the device doing anything strange.
How do you get normal HID compliant BT keyboards to work with WM5?
I just got a perfect keyboard for my Prophet last December.
Its a Think Outside (Igo) stowaway BT keyboard. Got it for $30 from amazon.com during Xmas sale. Right now they sell it for around $60.
It works perfectly and it has a PDA stand built in which fits the Prophet nicely. I cannot stress more about the ease of use and quality of the keyboard which is very close compare to laptop keyboard.
I like the power management feature which turns on the keyboard automatically when you open it up and then turns off when you fold it or after there is no activity for certain period of time. It uses two AAA batteries, I wish it uses rechargeable battery with the same mini USB port like the prophet. But so far, I'm impressive with the battery life.
I do not how long the battery will last, but it has been a month and the battery is still good.
Hi,
I´m thinking about a BT mini keyboard. Someone is already using a BT keyboard? Is it working properly?
Thanks in advance.
I'm using the Apple Bluetooth keyboard ($69 most places) and when it pairs it works well. I had some issues with pairing where it wouldn't do it a second time until I changed some setting on the tablet. When it works, it works well except for the directional keys. I wish there was a way to remap those so they make more sense. LOL
I should add, I bought several other keyboards, and this one was the best in both size and quality. I bought a Zippy and those chicklet sized keys were horrible (but it was cool to be able to pair it with other devices and soft-switch between BT devices). I also tried two of those folding ones and found out real quick how much those suck when you are trying to type on a keyboard on your lap. One didn't have a "lock" mechanism, so it just folded and made a V shape when in use. The other one had some flimsy plastic mechanism to lock it which lasted about 20 minutes...and I'm a soft-touch typer. If you tend to beat on your keys, that would last about 20 seconds. LOL
On a side note, I do find it somewhat funny that I buy an Apple keyboard to work on an Android device...kind of like forcing a Hatfield and a McCoy to get married.
Update:
I am noticing some problems with the Archos 101 and a bluetooth keyboard. It seems I can either have bluetooth on and paired, or wireless on and connected, but when both are active it seems to really have problems. Dropping the keyboard, not able to connect to the router, etc. Turning either off resolves the issue for the other.
On a side note, it also trashed a whole slew of files I had on my MicroSD card...
Hmmm...
Im deciding on a keyboard.
$58 NEW xoom motorola keyboard
$43 USED apple keyboard
my opinions:
xoom is built for an android tablet and has the keys for quicker access.
Apple keyboard is thin and sexy at a cheaper price(but used) + it doesnt have android keys.
Haha I need help deciding on a keyboard.
If you have any other keyboard ideas that are compatible and cheaper. Tell me!
I don't have any ideas for other keyboards, but I can weigh in on the dedicated android keyboard vs. apple keyboard. I've used both, and I have to say that the dedicated android buttons, while nice, aren't really that much more helpful, especially if you plan on investing in a bluetooth mouse as well. I've found that using my Apple Bluetooth keyboard with a Kensington Slimblade Bluetooth mouse is much more efficient in situations where I would need to use a bluetooth keyboard. The Mouse makes it much easier to navigate, and the android keys are on the keyboard to aid in navigation, but aren't all that useful in day to day usage. My advice would be to go with the Apple keyboard if it is in good condition because it being lighter will definitely make up for not having the dedicated android buttons. Aside from that, you can take the money you saved and put it toward a bluetooth mouse.
Apologize for the noob question, but I assume both bluetooth keyboard and mouse work ok with the tab? Any cons to this set up? I might pick up both for school during lectures? TIA
The bluetooth keyboard and mouse work exactly as they would on a regular computer, they pair very easily, and then connect as soon as you turn them on. You can use both at the same time and it essentially turns your tab into an android powered laptop. So far there are no cons that I can see from using this setup. It would actually be a very nice setup for taking notes. Unfortunately, I just finished grad school, so I won't be able to use it for that purpose, although my Galaxy Tab 7 with the Samsung keyboard served me very well in my myriad of meetings with my advisor and during those long nights of research.

Thanks for the advice! I'm going to try these items out. Does an actual arrow pop up once a bluetooth mouse connects?
droider seeks enlightenment:
having found an excellent Bluetooth keyboard (Logitech K810) for my shiny new N7 i'm now looking for a wireless mouse, don't really care if it needs a transceiver or not. searching around hasn't yielded any particularly promising leads. (yes, i've heard of the Google machine, no joy)
is this a weird thing to be looking for? do they all work with Android so, duh!, just buy one or is it so odd/marginal/doesn't-work-so-well that i'm barking up the wrong tree?
related to this, how well do the smartphone-as-mouse apps work with a droid tablet? most say "mouse away on your PC" but i'm not seeing much about doing it on the tablet.
microsoft wedge mouse .. but like the majority of bluetooth devices, there is a bug so you'll need to wait for an update from Google to fix .. you'll probably find the same with your keyboard.
yeah, i'd heard there was a bug but so far the keyboard has been good.
so, bug aside, should any old bluetooth mouse be expected to work well? that's kind of what i'd expect but you never know, tech weirdness and all.
I got the Logitech bluetooth trackpad (k651?) and it works like a charm with my k811 bluetooth keyboard. Have them paired to my Macbook, iPad, and Nexus 7 (2013) with no problems.
Sent from my Nexus 7 (2013)
Fry's had HP x4000b bluetooth mice on sale for $17.99. It pairs and works fine with the Nexus 7 (after adjusting speed).
I have an old MS 5000 BT netbook travel mouse. Works great.
I recently bought a noname keyboard and mouse from ebay, the keyboard works great... the mouse worked once and then was never able to reconnect after hours of unpairing and repairing it just won't ever work again... even tried a factory reset on the tablet no dice.... the same mouse works perfect on my s4 regardless of how many times i unpair it and reconnect
what mice are confirmed working more than once on the nexus 7
I have logitech wireless keyboard and mouse...for my N7(2013) which works really well...I got it from Amazon...and its working really fine..sometimes it creates a problem in connecting and pairing but most of the time it works smoothly and very fine....If you are facing such problems with the mouse then you better consult the customer service support as they could be the right person to sort it out.....
I use a Razer orochi. Its a great little mouse with decent specs and a great scroll wheel. Comes with a zip up pouch and a USB connector to.

Ditto on that here.
magicaly it seems the mouse decided to finaly pair and connect. still shopping for a fullsize bluetooth keyboard to use my tablet as a desktop connected to my tv
I can use my Logitech K810 keyboard and M555b mouse - both Bluetooth.
Works very well, no hickups.
The K810 also have 3 switches to...switch to 3 different BT devices on the fly. I can connect my Windows 7, iMac and Nexus 7 at work flawlessly.
Well i have this combo of wireless mouse and keyboard from Logitech and its working really fine...but the only thing which is worrying me is the instant disconnect of the keyboard time and time...and not pretty sure about the battery life of the keyboard too....but at the price they are offered are worth of it...and the disconnection problem is there but not most of the time.....
this is the one which I have

For me I use a universal cover with keyboard which uses a cable and since I have a phone I use it as a mouse with droidmote but since im so used to virtual keyboard I often use my keyboard cover as a stand and droidmote as the controller

hi Jimmy,
Are you using the Logitech Wireless Combo MK320 kb-mouse? How are you connecting it to the N7 - Do you have a unifying nano-receiver connected through a OTG cable?
I am trying to connect the K400 with the OTG cable, it is not working out.
Thanks,
here's wht i hav tried. worked great without any tinkering (root, 3rd party apps etc)-
1. sony ps3 controller.
2. various usb mice.
3. mircosoft wireless mouse (the ones with the usb dongle).
4. logitech wireless keyboard mouse combo.
Some game stream games like LoL and Diablo 3 can be played using a keyboard and mouse. This doesnt even account for the productivity bump of having kb/mouse. Ive been looking for an affordable bluetooth kb/mouse but cant seem to find anything im sold on.
Id like something small and portable, rechargeable via USB would be a plus but not required. Id also dont want to break the bank. Hoping to get both for under $75. A keyboard that can be folded or collapsed for portability would be good but not if the trade off is quality or price.
Has anyone been using a bt kb/mouse and if so any recommendations?
Thanks
Edit: Should mention i have the shield tablet

Im also looking into the same thing. As I also Play D3 but Ive tried to find something in my local Best Buy but to no avail. The lighted Logitech keyboard that is meant for a mac or iphone in the apple section worked GREAT but it did cost 75 alone. Only suitable mouse found there was 56.

They sure did. Both work great. They keyboard is super thin and really portable. Very lightweight. And the mouse is good and solid on the weight as it takes 2 AA batts. Im happy with both.
I love using my Logitech K810 and Razer Orochi, Both Bluetooth, and work really well with the Shield tablet!
Cool ill take a look into it. Still waiting on the cover to come. Really liking the shield controller. Excited to see how games like Diablo 3 or LoL work with kb/mouse. Any other recommendations would be great. Thanks
I have the Logitech for Androids/Windows BT keyboard and that works well, although I mostly use the Logitech MX5500 that I have for my desktop PC at home and work (and the mouse that comes with it)... I just find that mouse and keyboard so incredibly comfortable to use. Would vouch for most Logitech stuff in this space.
