Just like title mentions:
A "I have this too." button.
So what would this button do? you might ask.
It's similar to the "Thanks" button, but people will use it to tell the thread that they have the same situation as the poster in question.
It could be someone who reports a bug with a particular ROM.
Instead of creating a +1 post, people can hit the "I have this too." button to tell the community that the poster isn't alone with that particular problem/situation.
Just like the "Thanks" button, the "I have this too."-clicker will be listed under the post in question.
That would clean up some of the clutter and hopefully less +1 posts.
And it would be:
Easier for users who doesn't need to create a new post to report the same thing.
Easier for moderators, who doesn't need go throught piles of +1 posts to see if they're relevant ot not.
Easier for developers, who can see if that case affects more than one without the need to go throught the whole thread searching for particular +1 posts.

First of all, I really enjoy the site, thanks for having it. It's an awesome place to come and get the info I need, and if i can help out others.
Anyways on to the first suggestion. I mostly stay around the htc hero (CDMA) section, so I'm not sure if this issue is site wide or not, but I've noticed a TON of spam. I realize moderators try there hardest to clean it up, but with such a large forum it's close to impossible to keep it clean, and I understand that. I think we need some sort of initiative to keep people from posting just for the heck of it. for example in the thread for the damagecontrol rom, I had to go through pages of spam to find useful info. People were posting things similar to "wow i've refreshed so much my f5 key is broke haha", c'mon that doesn't help out at all. Veering away from this subject a bit is all the people that just say thanks for the rom, perhaps this is a mod for vBulletin. I know there is one for IPB that adds a "thanks" button to the original post so people don't add "thanks for the stuff" posts. I don't know if everyone agrees with me but I'm really annoyed with having to go through page after page to find useful info.
This leads me to my second suggestion, which I'm not sure about. One idea I have to help organize the threads would be to add a wiki post right below the original post. I don't know if there is a mod available for vbull. to do this. An example of what I am thinking of would be here at slickdeals.net:
http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1906634
you can see in the wiki post, someone edited it to alert everyone that the deal is dead. I don't have to go to the last page to see this, it's right there. I truly think something like this would greatly improve organization and readability.
Thanks for reading and looking forward to reading responses,
-sam
I was playing with my friends Nokia, and his hardware keyboard allowed him to turn on his flashlight (camera led) by holding down his spacebar.
So I was thinking, is there anyway to map the optical trackpad press on our dincs to do this?
Ideally when the screen is on/unlocked you would hold it down a few secs to turn it on, then hold down a few secs again to turn it off. Also if the screen was off/locked, then hold it down to turn it on but have it turn off the second you stop holding it (for accidental pocket presses).

judging by those two threads this doesn't seem very possible. is that what you were getting at? because you probably could have just said "remapping doesn't work"

Personally, I appreciate it when people provide me links to more information than a single line summary like, "remapping doesn't work."
But I'm sorry that I inconvenienced you with having to read other discussions.
You're welcome for providing you the information that you were too lazy to search out on your own.

Actually, what I was primarily getting at was the fact that at least two recent discussions cover this topic, and that information was there for the taking if you would take a few seconds to search / read.
There's a reason that the forum software tries to find similar threads every time you create a new thread. There's also a reason why the forum asks you if your thread is a question when you create it.
Finally, this doesn't belong in Development, since you didn't develop anything.
Since you like things summed up, here you go:
"Your issue has been discussed multiple times recently, it is a question, it doesn't belong in this subforum, and you may or may not have this thread locked or receive a temporary ban because of the aforementioned rules for this subforum."
Hope I didn't waste too much of your time this time.

Indeed. I just didn't appreciate rmoney's dismissive response to what I thought was a helpful reply: providing him with relevant links.
I want a extra option on the tread with the ability to agree with some one.
I read the most post on my phone with the XDA app.
And i find it hard to read stuff that is relevant for me to read.
Imagine how hard it must be for a dev to find relevant post........
There are a large number of users who post "+1, +100000, +1!!!!!" replies with no bearing on the thread. I'm thought of adding an "Agree" button would alleviate that.
That you could see that also (like the thanks button).
Something like this: The following (numbers) user are agree with this post.
I hope that it will help.
My hope with this poll is to see how many people wanted this.
So the question is:
Do you think this is a good idea (the agree button) to put this on the site?
Someone PM me, to ad also here the poll to create more vote's.
So let's try it
The main thread is here.
@ everybody, Please take your time to vote, because I truly believe this could work!!!
Many thanks.
Greets
PS if you don't think this is a good idea, please let me know why...
Hi
I' like to suggest something like an opposite to the Thanks button.
It might not need to be profile-wide but I want to be able to mark a Post at least within a thread as unhelpful.
I'd suggest that button only being visible for OPs and requiring giving a reason.
Then this Post should be collapsed or gryed or something that it is easy to see that it's nonsense.
This button is NOT meant for disregarding people but to be able to have mor control over own threads when it comes to organization.
It is meant to mark posts as unhelpful not when they are just like things somebody already tried but it is really meant to mark posts like "Android of Course" which I had in my Thread.
If I ask for a decision-help it is not enough to say Android but you should tell why this would be you choice.
So the Button should only clear the thread and give the OP an opportunity to clear it by tagging SPAM, Floods, etc.
To prevent wrong usage I'd further suggest this feature only being available for OPs which have at least lets say 15 posts to ensure they are not only trolls or so who try to blend out answers which give some information about its a troll or so.
And further I (as said) think there should be a reason to be given like a dropdown:
Spam
Flaming
Stupid Comment
Off-Topic
Other Reason (opens Text-Box)
A marked post could look like this (Modified Screenshot taken out from the Spammers Thread):
Greetings friends,
We all agree that - xda-developers is an amazing site !!!
unfortunately, there are so many unnecessary and redundant posts, every where.
Therefore - I would like to suggest a Negative 'THANKS' button, on every post,
a 'rotten tomato' counter, if you please.
This button and counter will make people - search / read / think twice - before posting,
Something we will all enjoy and benefit from.
What do you think ?
If you can improve my suggestion
or you have another idea to help this cause,
please write.
A few years ago we did try an alternative up/down button. People seemed to like the single "Thanks!" button better because it is more positive.
Right. People that ask Noobish questions would get a "negative thanks" and that's just very discouraging
Yea, the idea of the Thanks button is not to "control" post content and judge post content. It's there to say "thanks, your post helped me".
We don't want to say to anyone "your post did not help" or "your post was silly"...if you find any posts that you think aren't appropriate, you can report the post and a moderator will take a look at it

Thanks for all responses.
please have a look at a very famous site's - user reputation ranking system.
http://stackoverflow.com/help/whats-reputation
it supports my point.
if a user posts rubbish or too lazy to read - it should carry a consequence, (a very minor one, but efective).
perhaps the negative THANKS button - is not the best way achive the goal,
I do belive that something should be done.
I'll leave it to greater minds than my own....
