Hello ,
I have clockwork recovery. I downloaded ROM Manager then i press Partition SD card in ROM manager, choose ext size 256mb and swap size - 0 . Then OK . Phone reboots , but i dont partition SD card, just shows me android with exclamation mark . I can press any button and it brings me to clockwork recovery. But SD card is not partitioned. Why ?
Toggle signature verification in recovery. Can be found under install zip from sd. The use rom manager again.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
i did that, but it didnt help.
Clear download cache in rom manager, flash clockworkMod again and try again. If that does not work you need to use Gparted, there have been many instructions on how to do that the last couple of days.
Best method is amon ra recovery.
Install custom image using unrevoked.
With rom manager you can make ext of max 512 mb.
With custom recovery you can do much more.without using pc.
Even i have installed hd rom using same method.
Earlier my card was not even flasing .zip from root.
Now every thing is just fine.

im doing 256mb with ROM manager but its still dont working
discovered a new solution .I disalbled toggle signature, but I noticed that after system reboot Toggle signature verification is turning back to enabled. So i pushed Toggle signature verification again and made it disabled and then just pushed restart recovery and now it made a partition .
I'm having a similar problem with my phone. I accidentally wipe all my partitions from my card and can't seem to create new ones. I tried with 4EXT and either have to wait half and hour with no results or have it tell me it worked but revert to no partitions once phone is rebooted.
Here's the weird part. I tried Gparted which has worked successfully for me in the past, but every time I create and apply my partitions my phone tells me my SD card is damaged and I have to format it again.
Any help or ideas?
Best solution for me was to remove the card and insert it into my Pc.
I then used Minitool Partition Wizard. :good:Bonus was that the data on my card was preserved!:good:

Thanks.
This is bull**** though. That program (like all the others) told me it worked, showed me my partitions (even my old ones from Gparted I'd made the day before) yet once in my phone there's nothing. No extra space.
yh mini tool is useless. what 4ext recovery have u installed? coz usually 4ext recovery partitons sdcards perfect and aligns them perfect.

It is strange. I'm not sure why it's being so stubborn. I am on the latest touch version. Where can I get reflash recovery from?
just click the 4ext recovery in my sig and download the updater app and just flash recovery from there

Hello everyone,
I have rooted my Desire a long time ago, now I want to try out a few custom ROMs. However, I think I made a few mistakes because Data2SD doesn't work for me.
Can i just start off new ? For example just running UnrevokedĀ³ again ?
If yes : Why doesn't UnrevokedĀ³ work ? It just says "Error: failed to get root. Is your firmware too new?". Currently I have installed Android 2.3.3 SuperNova ROM. My H-BOOT version is "HBOOT-0.75.0000". I think my Display is SLCD.
Thanks in advance !
Cheers Limette =)
if you are already rooted, this is what unrevoked should show.
anyway, your root was succesful, and it has got nothing to do with Data2SD.
if for some reason you think it might not work, make sure you have EXT partition AFTER fat32 one. and make sure it works ok, Gparted for example.
other than that you should provide more info, like what you did with your sdcard (how did you partition it, what layout etc.) and why do you think it is not working.
Thanks for your reply.
Actually I did partition the SD card how the tutorial told me to.
1st partition = ~14GB FAT32
2nd partition = 1GB EXT4
Then I installed the custom ROM and booted once. Then i went into Recovery mode and installed Data2SD installer. Everytihng should be ok so far, but the Phone wont boot after that, even tho the blue LED flashes. So I thought starting off new would be a good idea ^^.
So Umm, now I'm not quite sure what to do :O
Thanks in advance.
Cheers Limette.
well, a good thing to try now is installing some other ROM (possibly one with DATA2XXX already included) and checking if this works
also, what rom are you trying to flash
and have you used any aligment.zip flashable that were supposed to do some cool stuff with your ext ?
I only tried this ROM so far : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045824
Here is what I did :
1. Partition my SD card ( 14GB FAT32 primary, 1GB EXT4 primary)
2. Recovery mode -> install zip from SD card -> new radio version
3. Reboot
4. Recovery mode -> install zip from SD card -> SuperNova ROM
5. Reboot
6. Recovery mode -> install zip from SD card -> Data2SD installer
7. Reboot (system is stuck here)
If I remove the SD card the SD card the system will boot and if I dont even install Data2SD system will also boot. It just wont boot if Install Data2SD. I did nothing more.
However, I just tried to install InsertCoin CM7 but that won't even start at all. Thats pretty much the reason why I'm trying to redo all of my first steps. Or do you think my problem is somewhere else?
please let me know if you need more information and thanks for your help so far
Cheers Limette
insertcoin CM7 version would require you to be s-off and running custom hboot (partition layout in phone) so that is why it is not booting up.
try insertcoin A2SD+ STOCK HBOOT, if it works, then your EXT is fine, if not then i suggest you double check it.

Hboot 0.75 means you are still s-on so InsertCoin cm7 will never work for you.
I suggest you to soff (read some tutorial first) and flash cm7 hboot.
Then u will be able to flash IC cm7. With that version u will not need those weird data2something scripts
Thanks for the replies !
I just tried the InsertCoin A2SD v20 ROM its booting but its not working correctly. I get crash messages like every 3 seconds
"The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
I might try to S-OFF my phone after i read the tutorial. But until then, do you guys know what I did wrong ?
Cheers Limette
Few people with hboot below 0.93 experienced some problems with installing gb roms.
1. What is your recovery? AmonRa or CWM and what version?
2. Would you consider using Froyo rom? They are extremely optimized and stable, while gb still have some glitches.
3. You can of course s-off, but i'd check/repartition sd card first. Stick with ext3 partition for now, a bit more support for it if you get mad with flashing different roms

1. CWM v2.5.0.1
2. I used a Froyo ROM for like 9 months now ^^ So I want to try Gingerbread out ^^
3. I'll try to repartition my SD card with Ext3 , if that won't help I'll try to S-OFF my Phone.
I'll let you know if it worked.
Cheers Limette.
I managed to Fix the Error message "The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again". I accidentally forgot to wipe all data before flashing :$
Thanks for all the help =)
you wrote you have clockworkmod recovery 2.5.0.1 ? you sure it is not 2.5.0.7 ?
anyways, both of them are really old, and this can cause bootloops when new updater script is used in a flashable.zip file
since you are S-ON, you cant premanently flash new recovery, but you can fake-flash which is putting clockworkmod_3.0.2.8.zip file on sdcard, and then flashing it while in 2.5.0.7(or .1) and this will boot up the newest version (but you have to do this everytime you enter recovery)
then you can try flashing both ROM you chose and the DATA2SD installer with 3.0.2.8, this might fix it

I'm using Revolutionary CWM Recovery 4.0.1.4 that came with the revolutionary.io root method...
I formatted and partitioned the sdcard using this recovery
I have 16gb card - 2048mb ext4 - 64mb linux-swap - and the rest fat32
everytime i goto wipe dalvik i get e:unknown volume for path [sd-ext]
everytime i go to nandroid backup it says no sd-ext found
.android_secure folder is present on the sdcard
i know i have sd-ext, why do i see this error?
I had the same problem and I was able to fix it by formatting the SDCARD and then creating new partition. If you do, make sure you backup your data first.

i thought that too... so i copied contents of the sdcard to the pc.... formatted and repartitioned the sdcard, and copied contents back...
still getting the error... i know 100% that i have a sd-ext partition...
i'm wondering if its a flaw or bug in the recovery.img im using, which is the revolutionary cwm 4.0.1.4 that came with the revolutionary.io root method
After talking with attn1 on irc #alpharev
he re-wrote the Revolutionary CWM Recovery 4.0.1.4 to support SD-EXT
so for anyone still having this issue, here is the recovery he fixed and gave me

Hi,
I have problem...
I tried to install Cool3D RunnyMede v5 ROM,which needs EXT4, but I have made mistake and forgot to create ext4 partition and installed ROM - so it couldnt start...
After powering phone ON it stops at HTC logo - i need to pull out battery.
After that I can go to HBOOT and to recovery.
I tried to wipe cahce, factory reset -nothing hepled - it still stucks at htc logo
I would like to ask you,if it is posible to create ext4 partition in this state of phone- because i cant get to my SD card (windows dont recognize storage),and I cant power phone to home screen...
Is it posiible to fix this problem (to make phone working) or create EXT4 partition from CMW(I have Revolutionary CWM 4.0) or from computer (ADB or something,im not expert in this stuff, im just guide follow monkey)...
I appreciate your help,im desperate
Thank you

Go to Gparted site http://gparted.sourceforge.net/download.php Download and burn it to CD or DVD. You will need an SD card adapter, when Gparted is on CD boot PC from CD and re-partition your card. You will need to enter BIOS if PC dont already start from dik and set it has first boot.
Before partition remember Backup data if you can.
or you could use ext4 recovery from the development thread - flash via fastboot. plenty of guides for that. I suggest you avoid the touch recovery for now as its not too stable (too large - bad blocks could cause brick...)
Thank you,
I have solved the problem - I found in recovery something like mount storage, and then i could acces to SD card, and then i flasthed EXT4 recovery...
Throught ext4 recovery i created EXT4 partition (it fprmated my sd card).
But it didnt solved the problem, maybe it was ROM problem, because I installed then Insertcoin, and it worked...
But thanks for answers anyway...

did you use the correct version for your hboot - as in the cm7r2 version if you have that hboot or stock hboot version.... also I'd suggest an sdext partition of at least 1024 (i like 2048 personally but i have a 16gb class 6 sdcard) for all sense 3.0/3.5 ROMs
I suggest you go and look at the "requirements" of the ROM you were trying to install, and ensure you have done a full wipe, and do not restore anything until after a couple of boots...
Hi people, I have a HTC Desire that I has Clockworkmod installed. I gave it to my girl and she deleted Clockworkmod I think. The phone gets the splash screen but bootlooped, I did the power vol down and got into the bootloader, go to recovery, phone loads into cwm everything i do in cwm hangs the phone, I tried flashing recovery files from fastflash and android flasher but nothing works.
Its like the cwm is corrupted and wont let me do anything how do I get into the phones recovery not Clockworkmod recovery.
Cheers Glenn
sorry i;m new at this
- You can't really accidentally delete a recovery. If you can get into clockworkmod recovery it, it is not deleted
- You can only flash a different recovery if you are s-off, are you s-off?
- Does performing any action within cwm cause it to hang immediately? Can you try to full wipe (wipe data/factory reset), and then flash a ROM.zip file such as cyanogenmod? Does it boot?
- If you can't get it to boot, then you will likely have to flash an RUU to get it booting again. Use the 2.3.3 GB RUU, details how to flash are in the troubleshooting guide stickied to the top of Q&A.
- Once you get it booting and if you still want to install a custom ROM, use revolutionary to s-off, then flash 4EXT recovery instead, use that recovery to (re)partition your sdcard and install the ROM.

Yes I'm S-off, the phone wont start(boot all the way to working) I get into the (power vol down) menu, I go into recover, anything I do in there hangs the phone all I get is the cwm hat icon, I have to tske the battery out and put it back in. the only thing I think is, I have change micro SD cards the one that used to be in it is in my new phone and have deleted all the old files on it.
WHENEVER I do anything CWM it hangs can I recover without CWM it seems it controlls everything i do....
i had Rom manager installed too thet could be deleted, if rom manager is delete will that stuff up the phone, i think the partition is delete tooo... can i re partition it from windows??

- I've never seen CWM hang like this. Within CWM, are you using the power button to select the options? You need to push the trackball to select (the middle button on the front of the phone)
- If you were using a custom ROM which used the sdcard in some way like a partition, you can't simply switch sd cards without backing up and transferring the necessary files to the new sdcard
You are s-off, so that's good. Assuming you still want a custom ROM:
- Flash 4EXT recovery using fastboot
- Backup your sd card, and use 4EXT recovery to completely reformat and partition your sd card (maximum 2GB ext4 partition)
- Copy backup back to sdcard, and ROM.zip of your choice
- (Optional but recommended) For maximum app space, flash optimal hboot for your ROM using fastboot, read the ROM's install instructions for information.
- 'Wipe all partitions except sdcard' option within 4EXT recovery (this is a 'full wipe')
- Install ROM.
EDIT: once you get it booting again, DO NOT use ROM manager in any way on this phone. You don't need it, has caused problems on this phone, could have been the reason for your issues in the first place.

A factory ROM is not a custom ROM. If you want a full factory / stock ROM, you will need to flash an RUU (use the 2.3.3. GB WWE RUU)
If you intend to still use the phone, and install a few apps on it without running out of space, then you still need a custom ROM. With CM7, for maximum app space you need:
- cm7r2 hboot (flash with fastboot)
- partitioned sd card (using 4EXT recovery or gparted only, NOT CWM or minitool partition wizard)
- an app such as S2E or Darktremor A2SD to move apps and dalvik to the partition, or flash a compatible app2sd script
Or pick a ROM of your choice. The correct hboot, partition and A2SD method still apply to virtually all custom ROMs
and what about Rom Manager and CWM can I uninstalll them and put 4EXT on it instead

Like I said, you don't need ROM manager. CWM recovery is ok as long as you only use it to backup, full wipe and install ROMs. don't use it to partition the sd card.
4EXT is better as it can partition and backup/wipe/install ROMs all in one. Flash it using fastboot, or install it using the 4EXT app in the thread.
