Android Music Player - Galaxy Ace S5830 Themes and Apps

hi guys... i really need some help with my music player. im using stock music player and i have class 4 16gb microsd card with 1788 mp3s. when doing a search from stock music player, some songs doesnt show up... i also tried it in poweramp library but still no luck..

I dont think the stockplayer support those musicfiles which makes it unable to read it.
Convert it to mp3 and try (if it isnt already).

are you using .m4a or .mp4 container on your phone? sadly, Ace does not play well with these formats so i converted them to mp3 instead.
btw im using fla.sh rom (KPN based)

its an sd card problem, just format it and put those songs in it again and it should work

No, you're wrong, all my music files are in .m4a and it plays just nice on the stock or any other music player, the only thing is, it shows as Unknown Artist, but, there's an app on the Market called MediaFix that correct this issue and you can have the media info back.

guys i dont have any problem with my tags... im just having trouble with search function in music app

[Q] wma is unsupported in stock music player?

So is it just my ignorance or does the stock music player really not play wma files? Any resolution to this?
Thanks
some phones can but you have to make sure there is no drm on the music. if there is it will not play it
It's very strange. the wma files play on my pc & on my former HTC TP2....

That's because WMA files are Windows Media Audio files.
I know that. I guess I wish we (google, Microsoft) could all just get along. Oh well, converting to mp3. So much for lossless

Get PowerAMP.
It can play wma, as well as FLAC, wav, and just about everything else. Lossless and lossy
It also has a full Equalizer and many other features. I love it.
Official site: http://powerampapp.com/
Market Page: https://market.android.com/details?...GwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5tYXhtcHouYXVkaW9wbGF5ZXIiXQ..
Wow. Thanks so much. Works great. I love this forum.
There's a line in the media_profiles.xml at the very end that has wma and wmv disabled. You can find it in /system/etc. Try changing the false to true and see if that works.
I don't use those file formats so I've never had a reason to change it and test to see if it works.

ugh. poweramp doesn't work either. I thought it was, but it was playing an mp3 version of the song I was testing. Didn't realize this until after I purchased the full version.
I'm not rooted (yet) so I can't play with the system files...

does not do the trick, it end with bootloop
Just transfer the files onto your comp and rip them to mp3's. I know this is kinda a pain in the ass but it will solve your prob.

[Q] Music player bug

The problem is while i'm listening to music and open the gallery app the player stops the song and start the next.
I am on stock rom and using stock music player, could this be because my memory card? Or just too bad phone for multitasking?
Thanks!

its not the multitasking bad phone for sure.. that's what i can say... i do that and much more all the time....
move your music player to phone memory, then you will be sure its not the memory card
and as the last step try another music player... there are many good ones ... i personally use Uber Music

The music player and the gallery app is on the internal storage, maybe i try to reformat my card, on my desire, recording 720 also lagged, then i reformated my card with 32 swap and now it works.
Ok so i find it out, the gallery app listed some avi files which caused the problem, i put a .nomedia file inside the videos folder and now it works.

Google Music Storage

Does anybody know where google music stores purchased music on your device? I am trying to transfer my purchase to a different music player on my phone as I dont really like google music.
I am having the same problem. I found the files and copied them over but the other players still don't pick them up.

Copy files from there to your internal memory or sd card to use it with other players. data/data is a system folder so other players can't access it. Or better yet download google's Music Manager on your desktop and download mp3's to your desktop and then transfer them to your phone.

[Q] Music app that actually works

is there a music app that works? Everything i've tried either sends my SD card into a bltchfit and/or cannot play some files, or will play other song audio over the song i selected. poweramp, play music, isense, even winamp are all crap.
Is it the type of mp3's i'm using? Like something converted from flv or youtube to mp3? Could it be my 32gb microSD card is junky?

play music fails to read all of my music that I place on my sd card. e.g. I put 700-800 songs on it and it says I'll have 5xx songs on device.
Ok so it looks like the mSd card is corrupt. the 32gb i got doesn't like to play nice with the evo. I tried an old sandisk 2gb i had from years ago and it read every file on it (hard to slim down music choices to just 1.89GB)

Maybe it has to do with the google permissions regarding sdcards? Try to move the mp4 to the internal sdcard and see if it plays

This is indeed strange. Are you sure your sdcard is not one of those knockoff sds on ebay that corrupt the files?
Try to copy from your PC straight to internal sdcard and see if it plays now

If vlc won't play it, nothing will. You sure its not drm protected?

Try saving this on internal sdcard. I just tested on my M8 and it's playing fine with both stock player and MX Player

This would be my guess (some type of DRM protected file).
I have no issues playing .mp4 format on my M8 using MX Player.

The SD permission change on KitKat only affects write permissions, not read permissions.

Thank you for your help;
I have tried several MP4 movies on both my SD card and Internal memory. None work on my HTC ONE M8, but they all work on my PC,
I have tried different formats, eg VLC, MX, and others, without success.
I just don't understand why they won't play on my device.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

I really am out of ideas with this one. How about if you play straight from the link above without downloading? Still not playing? Does it give an error?
You haven't told us the codec?
.mp4 is just the file container. Also the bit-rate.
Rock Player used to be the best all round, able to play unplayable files within software using the CPU. If the GPU can't decode it, you're gonna have to turn off hardware acceleration.
You might even have to 're-encode to H.264 or similar to get it to play.

Movies for different sources?
What exactly happens when you try to play the video? I've tried a great many video formats for lots of sources with MX, and have yet to encounter one that will straight-out not play. The worst that I've seen, it plays choppy, and I switch to the HW+ or SW decoder mode and it starts to play smoothly.
