SOlution to Battery drain after updating restoring on HTC phones - Windows Phone 7 General

every time u do any of the actions, run the HTC connection setup from the marketplace . obviously it does something to reception, whic i am not sure what it is
i recently upgraded to the 772o RTM and has a drain even when not using the phone
so i ran the connection setup and supposedly "configures" something on the phone. U can manually choose network ect in the wp7 cellular options but this HTC connection setup does the same thing maybe its just optimized for yr phone
now the drain is not there

[Q] What makes my data connection remaining alive ?

Hi!
Some are struggling to keep there data connection alive, I am willing to make it automatically close as soon as it is not required anymore.
I just bought my Desire Z last week. Standard phone, not coming from my operator, with baseband 18.28b60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M and build 1.34.405.5.
My data connection remains alive all day long even if I configured the phone not to have data connection always on and applications, including sense ones, only to synchronize each two hours ...
Is there any check, or any app, I could install to easily determine which configuration parameter and/or application makes my data connection always on ?
Thanks a lot !

[Q] GPRS data consumption

Hello Guys,
I have an HTC Desire, and I am located in Lebanon, we don't have 3G networks yet and a 50MB data plan cost us $10/month. for a Desire, the 50MB on GPRS can be consumed in 6hours even if I keep killing running services using a "Task Manager Killer" application, to give an Idea, I have a nokia E72, I keep GPRS running continuously, I use Whatsapp all the time and I consume less than 10MB/month, while on the Desire if I use Whatsapp and I keep killing apps all the time I am online I consume 10MB in 3hrs.
is there a way to disable all the services from starting unless I request it to? like making the Android behave like a Symbian regarding online updates and running services.
Regards
NAB
Either you are use whatsapp really a lot or killing the apps is doing more harm then good. Have you ever tried installing a app to monitor data usage and see were the data goes? I would suggest 'Network TrafficStats Lite'.
can I move from Froyo to Win Mobile 7?? on my Desire
Hello,
I have just been told that I can reflash windows Mobile 7 to my Desire, and that would consume less Data than Android, a friend who had an Imate did the testing with windows mobile 6.5 and then Android 1.5 (I guess) and android consumed more data when it was connected online. so what do you guys think?
a stock mobile 7 (i didnt know anyone had ported it to desire.....) would use less data as there arent many things on it that use data, syncing, weather, emails etc.
but then you have defeated the purpose of having a desire in the forst place! believe me, windows 6.5 was awful, if 7 is a bit better it still wont be as good as android yet.
plus if it is possible to put windows 7 on android it will be very buggy and only for testing at the moment......so probably wont be very useable. this would prevent data use of course

Slow to respond to a 'ping'

Right, thought I'd ask this here even though the same problem happens on my wife's Wildfire S.
I have both phones connected via wifi to my home network. My main PC is hard-wired to the same router as the phones connect to and both phones have a static ip set up. If I use the network from the phone (e.g. use a browser to surf the net, use email or the Market) then I have no problems. I can also 'ping' my main computer from the phone (I have a terminal emulator installed) and it comes back immediately with a response.
The issue is when I try to ping the phone from my PC it takes several attempts to "wake up". Not a big problem, I hear you say, but the irritation from my side is that the same thing happens when I go to sync my contacts/calendar and I have to try several times to get it to connect.
Now, it could well be that this is an Android "feature" and there's nothing I can do about it, in which case fine, I'm not going to lose sleep over it. However, if there is something I can do I'd like to know what that "something" is. Anyone got any ideas as to what may be happening here?
Oh, both phones are bog stock and have been updated to the latest HTC firmware. Mine is unlocked and unbranded, the Wildfire S is a Vodafone branded mobile (UK).
Thanks in advance.
Dave
Not much help I know but my android phones (G1, Desire, Desire HD) all respond to a ping instantaneously, no lag.

It would seem since both the phones can ping your pc just fine and the router is able to process the request that the pc would be the weak link in the chain. There are several things that could cause your pc to lag while trying to ping your phones. Drivers, os environment, type of network card, firewalls, etc. Also if the phone is in a sleep state it would take longer or not return a response at all until screen is turned on or the WiFi is re awakened. There are settings in the phone to set the WiFi to not sleep but then you will eat up your battery. Best thing to do is make sure the phone is awake and WiFi signal obtained, then try to sync or ping. If it still is dodgy then you need to resolve issues on your pc.

[Q] Mobile internet breaking off during tethering

Hi,
I have a really annoying problem with the Desire and hope that somebody is out there who has solved this problem already and is willing to share the solution.
I have a Desire Bravo which I used to provide internet to my desktop PC via USB tethering. But since a month or so, the phone's mobile internet (o2 Germany) goes into some sort of sleep mode when I am not actively using it on the PHONE or have constant data stream to the PC. For instance, while reading the web on the PC, I will have to grab the phone occasionally and call a web site there so that I can access the internet again on the PC. As soon as I called a web site, a download or the like on the PC works again. It must be some sort of sleep mode but I have no idea which setting it could be. I am not completely clear when this happens as sometimes it keeps awake for a good time but sometimes it interrupts very quickly.
I already have flashed a new radio 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.23 and also the latest stable release of LeeDroid 3.0.8.2 as I thought it might be the OS. But not improvement.
It is also not the SIM / carrier as it works without this problem if I use the same SIM in an internet USB stick.
Is there some sort of user data I could try to delete?
Or could the Windows drivers (on win 7 64 bit) be the problem?
Or any other suggestions?
I have searched the web for days and did find entries but the problem is always slightly different...
Thanks a mil for any insights!
Cheers,
frotty
Maybe an easier question first: do you guys get a stable connection over a prolonged period of time when using the Desire as a mobile internet modem via tethering?
The HDSPA signal is strong and the phone is not moving.
(Now, I tried newer HTC sync drivers (uninstall, new install) - no improvement.
I tried a wipe / factory reset and started without microSD, thus no user data - no improvement.
I tried it on a different Win 7 PC - no difference.
So far I only tried HTC stock ROM-based ROMs. Would it be worthwhile to try one of the open source ROMs?
Or might it be really a carrier issue? It just started to do this breaking off a month ago... but then again, with a USB internet stick the SIM gives a rather stable connection.)

[Q] One Big Problem of Bada 2.0

Problem is charge.Battery Percentage Very Fast down,How We change Battery problem as bada 1.2 ?
Strange I haven't any problem with the battery. How fast your battery empty ? Maybe you have a beta version ? Or you can maybe try to hard reset your device.
yes sure we have problem with battery and its because these firmwares are not completed as s8600's firmwares
the problem would be solved if the new firmwares will be unveiled
Hi.
I am using S8500XXLA /OXCLA2 and i have found that by disabling Network Data in the Network Menu under Settings (maybe not actual names since i'm not using English as a language in my phone, but i believe you'll get it) the battery lasts longer.
I tryed to disable all functions using network data, as push email and facebook notifications, but the phone still drains battery very fast. If i just disable Network Data in the Settings menu, it will last A LOT longer.
Of course that means having to enable the Network Data every single time i want to check my email, but i can live with that.
Try this workaround, maybe it can help you.
