Why is this problem resurfacing en mass again all of a sudden?
Not for me. Running decks 1.3b

It used to happen to me alot, a dalvik wipe would fix it for a while. It's probably a memory leak somewhere
If there has been an increase I would bet it's more than likely due to Evo's getting older and therefore defects occurring.
Must be a disease that's affecting the 4G and the 3D I had random reboots on both phones when running the stock ROM. But after an ota update, they stopped on the 3D. But back on topic, did you do try a clean wipe? Do a nandroid backup and flash the ROM and see if the problem persists. Even in some cases, that didn't fix it for me xP

its because of all the godmode users most likely. godmode in roms seems to be very temperamental with some phones. and everyone was trying to flash all the new kernels that came with the source being release and since those are in their early stages still their a bit buggy hence the boot loops. thats my 2 cents

Hey all. So I am a fairly new Evo owner, about one week now, and after flashing my first couple of Roms, I have noticed some significant performance issues with my phone.
I have followed all of usual steps when flashing, wiping, backing up, etc. Yet after trying the Ava ROM and moving over to Myns TwoPointTwo, my phone speed and Quadrant scores dropped significantly. (scored below Moto Droid. I outscored the nexus 2.2 on first rooted and flashed Rom)
I just did a hard reset on my phone, and there still seems to be some performance issues, though not as bad, fps and slight keyboard lag.
Any suggestions or advice on getting my phone back to 110% would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry in advance if this is duplicate thread. Im on my phone now, and not near my pc for some time...

The first thing I would try is a different kernel. For my EVO, 95% of the performance issues I have experienced have been kernel related. I flash a new one, and if my phone likes it the problems clear up. Make sure you wipe dalvik and cache before you flash it.
Ive only had my evo for a week and a half now. And like he said try a different kernel. Ive had to try a few different rom/kernel combos until i got the. Preformance. And batt life i wanted. Its wa worth the hassel though. By fay the best phone ive ever had.

I flashed amon ra recovery, fully wiped, nandroided, and flashed Myns ROM w a suggested kernel.
So far my performance has increased 10 fold. I haven't run a quadrant score yet, but at least the fps is back up and my keyboard lag went away.

My EVO has becoming slower. This was obvious through Quadrant, but also slightly through daily use. It was snappier on the first day.
I am rooted; I'm currently on the MikG v1.0 ROM with Gingerbread 2.3.3 and Sense 2.1/3.0 . I take care of my phone: I run a cache cleaner each day for internal storage as well as the SD card. My internal storage is 45% free (194MB) while my SD card is 58% free (4.35GB). My microSD card is a Sandisk 8GB Class 4.
Now, I don't blame any ROM for my low scores / slightly sluggishness. My first ROM was Myn's Warm 2.2 RLS4, then switched to RLS5 within a week once it came out. i used to get scores fluctuating near 1300, even 1400 some times. I don't think I had ever gotten a 1200 back then. I've played around with other ROMs too, including Mikfroyo's ROMs, CM ROMs, and Virus's ROMs etc.. I always properly wipe data, cache, & dalvik cache as well. I've tried custom kernels, mostly being attached to Netarchy's kernels. However, on my currrent ROM I can't use his kernels because there is a specific kernel for this ROM that prevents Wi-Fi and Sprint WiMAX 4G from breaking / being unusable. But you see, the problem isn't even the kernel, because even when I was on a Netarchy kernel on Myn's ROM, I started getting scores nearing 1000 (I've even got around a ~950).
So what's to blame for these low scores? Just the phone becoming old? I'd prefer not having to use a new kernel or ROM, because I've had this problem with most ROMs regardless of kernel. Also, what can I do to speed up my phone?
Thank you so much in advance to anyone who provides help.
I'm pretty sure quadrant scores mean jack ****. That's what all the devs say, at least.
Mik's 2.1 sense w/ some 3.0 also runs considerably slower than stock if that's what you're noticing.
Probably just paranoia and your ROM.

That'd make sense, but I've actually gotten slightly better scores on this ROM.
Also, I started getting lower scores on Myn's ROM first - from 1200s-1300s to 900s-1100s.
EDIT: By the way, I've seen scores in 1700s. Does this just range from phone to phone? Makes me feel like my phone sucks comparatively, lol.
Your phone is like a computer. Sometimes, you just need to start over to clean everything up.
Mine got like that a few months ago, so I ran S-OFF, RUU, re-rooted, etc and started from stock. It made a big difference.

I think he meant S-On,RUU then Reroot

Yeah, my fault. The S-ON tool is for use when you used Unrevoked to root your phone. You can d/l it on the unrevoked website.
Flash it in recovery before you run RUU
I am finding out from using different roms and getting a feel and see of how fast or slow the actions on my phone has not does not always agree with quadrant...if you run quadrant multiple times you will get different results....not changing anything...so is that a indicator of how good or bad your phone is? Or could it be that quadrant is flawed to use as a gauge. I don't use quadrant anymore near the frequency I did it the past...I would flash a rom every other day it seemed like and over clocked..under clocked...smart ass/interactive/ etc...every setting under the sun to make it faster...smoother and so on just for a few more bars on quadrant or speedtest...ot fps...then I realized I was just wearing out my batteries and buttons and wasting time..quadrant is not even a speed test...it is really a judge at how the darn quadrant feels like the score it wants to give you. Maintenance of the phone is needed.but a few hundred points that could vary after hundreds of hours literally of trying to max out poerformance.....ask yourself...is it really worth it...that is what I now tell myself...
One of the most important things to me about my phone is stability. I've tried many ROMS, especially with Gingerbread being widely available for our phones now, and some of them were very nice, but I've yet to find a ROM more stable and reliable than the old leaked Froyo ROM from August 1st, 2010, of which I am currently running a very highly modified version of. I had been bouncing back and forth between different ROMS, but lately I havent really had the time. Today I occurred to me that I have not had any reboots, lockups, freezes... anything, in a long time. Checked my uptime and I'm at almost 500 hours...
and I USE my phone quite a bit. I have almost 100 apps installed, so I'm not one of those "just use it for calls and texts" types...
so, post up people! anyone found a rock solid stable gingerbread ROM they love? show me some uptimes!
187hours uptime on gingersense stock+..haven't rebooted since I flashed..187 hours ago.

I've gone 444+ on CM7, at which point I voluntarily flashed a new ROM.
And this would have to show up in the Latest Post as "Who's got the longest..."
I've been running CM7 Nightly #202 without a reboot for just over....
...423 days. CM7 rocks.
damn.... was cm7 out 1 1/3 years ago?? And you've been running the same build since then??
I was just being a smart-ass. Nightly #202 was just released yesterday.
Between all the theming / modding / whatever I do to my device, it's rare that I make it 24 hours without a reason to reboot.

Lololol, that made my day.
I'm the same way. Being on MIUI its too easy to change things so my phone is constantly rebooted.

I can't keep my system up time for more than a day with out changing the ROM. So far lately, I've been pretty happy with Nils 3.5 sense.
I made it to 522 hrs... rebooted to test a different kernel. I don't know how you guys even keep your phones usable if you reflash your rom all the time. I've tried several ROMS but the goal was always to find one that everything worked and was stable to stick with. So far none of the gingersense ROMS fit that bill, except maybe the OTA, which is to similar to Froyo to really justify updating as of yet.
I had the Epic Touch for the last month but after rooting, it gave me instant LoS, the kernel helped but it still was an issue. I ended up going with the EVO 3D but now I really miss the Epic Touch
Before I consider going back, I was wondering for those people who had no LoS issues prior to rooting, only after, did unrooting the phone fix the LoS issue 100%? If it did, I'll just go back to the Epic Touch and hope Samsung/Sprint releases a fix in the near future because this E3D feels just like my Evo 4G... lol
NOTE: This thread is not about debating what causes LoS, from what I've read some people had it before rooting, some after.
Didn't help for me. lost kernel helped though.
I had issues after root using a sourced kernel. I just switch to pulled kernel and have had no more LOS issues and everything seems to be running smooth.
Which pulled kernel?

Had my phone replaced and haven't had a LOS since. The wife has the 3d. Biggest POS. An ota fix is in the works. Swap back

Try the stock Kernal from Chris.
It completely cured my LOS..
Been 4 days straight not a single Los
What is LoS?
At stock I was getting LOS a lot, I then tried zedo's kernel and was still getting the same amount, now I'm on the LOSKernel (packaged with StarBurst) and I only get them maybe once or so a day, but now they are all ghost LOS for some reason.
LoS Gone after Stock
Never had LoS issues when on stock. Rooted using Zedomax's kernel and Starburst Rom applied led to daily LoS...sometimes even 3-4 times a day. After bringing back to stock, not a single problem. At all.
Calkulin's Rom...
I have tried some ROM with my E4GT.. was almost disappointed, but then Calkulin made me fall inlove with my phone again.. this ROM solved all my issues, the phone is super fast (I know it is also fast without just out of the box, but this is really fast), solve my biggest concern with the phone, that was the battery life, it went from 6-8 hours of moderate use to a full day.. 20h+
It's really awesome!!
Also, no LOS since I flashed this ROM.
Here is the link in case you want to give it a try

Hey guys I've had my Gnex for just under a year now and lately the touch screen goes through moments of unresponsiveness.
I'm more interested in knowing if its software based. Ive been rooting/modding non stop for most part of its life and its never been on a ROM longer than 2 weeks. Over a month ago I got bored of it all and just put the stock rom on with the stock kernel and now after 2 months its now having touch screen and lag issues.
I have run Lag fix on it to TRIMM the lag but touch screen issues remain, Is this a common thing with the Stock rom? Or is it something more dire
Based on the fact that you say you are flash happy (nothing wrong with that), I would suggest a factory reset & /system format. If you have a spare hour or two maybe even move files to the comp and format the sdcard, then transfer the ones back you want.
