Has anyone having the issue where facebook for android is unable to sync with phone contact anymore after the htc desire official update to gingerbread?
Also, the facebook account that appears under Settings>Accounts and Sync is unable to be added to sync automatically!
Anyone knows any fix to this issue?

Had the same problem. Removing the Facebook account (settings > accounts & sync > etc), then replacing it with "Facebook for HTC Sense" did the trick.
After rooting my phone using unrevoked, latest, version my htc desire is having sync issues.
I cant sing in to Gtalk, HTC for facebook wont sync, google contacts wont sync.
This is not issue always sometimes they just work from themselves and sync/update, but when i want to sync nothing happens. And when it does it doesnt sync everything (ie only half of facebook contacts?!?!)
Talk wont even start

I have rather strange problem or maybe not! I've used to my Hero so maybe this is a new "feature". I have a doubled facebook contacts - it is syncing them twice. It took me a few moments to realize that on Desire HD, the facebook app is syncing contacts in parallel with Facebook for HTC Sense (the integrated one). I've opened up Accs & Sync only to find out there are two entries for facebook one for "Facebook" and one for "Facebook for HTC Sense". I stood still for a while wondering "what the h**l"?! I figured out that the stupid Facebook app is trying to sync my contacts (because maybe it's thinking I don't have HTC Sense, but a phone without Facebook integration). After some comparison with the Hero I've noticed that in the Hero's FB App (FB v.1.5.0 - the same as the one on Desire HD) there is no Sync Contacts option in settings ....
So I am thinking maybe ... the phone is not recognized by the FB app and that's why it's adding a second sync profile and doubling my FB contacts.
This is not an actual issue because I can always turn off the sync into the FB app (I will still have the sync profile in Accs & Sync because if it's removed the facebook app stops working - it asks for login details). The real issue is, that I no longer can have notifications on the taskbar for facebook events (updates, reqests and so on ..) and I am thinking maybe theese are related somehow?
Or it is because of HTC Sense - in the Hero there is an option for the updates and events (Phone>People>Updates & Events>Setting). In Desire HD there is no such thing there. Instead similar setting are found when you open a contact and select "Updates & Events", but there are no options for updates and events notifications!
Is this the same on your devices !? Or I've messed something up.
Android OS version is the last OTA. Phone is not rooted.

i just installed the new GingerVillain on my Desire.
But for some reason the sync of Contacts with Facebook doesnt work. It's enabled in the account settings as well as in the facebook app but my contacts dont get the pictures they have on facebook..
any idea how to solve this?

I just installed MIUI-AU rom in my htc desire, and i noticed a very annoying thing:
There is no option to tell the phone to just sync "my contacts". Now my contact list is filled with contacts with just a email.
When i had the original rom or the leedroid i had a option to just sync the my contacts.
So the question is how can i tell the phone to stop sync all contacts?
