Hi all,
some weeks ago I finally bougth a HTC Desire SLCD and was quite happy with it. But out of nothing, the Desire was switching the desktops on it's own, like shown in this video i took:
That was strange and I could reproduce it. So I switched of wifi, so noone could be actively in the Desire and play me a joke. The error still happens!
After the first reboot, I got another feature: I can't switch to a different profile than "vibrate" as shown in this video:
So I decided to reboot again and now I'm blocked at a screen like this:
The selection is changing frequently, so I can't select any item. But even when I try, the power-switch isn't working.
I have no special ROM installed, but tested some. But as you can see in the videos I moved back to a ROM which was the default HTC ROM and was fine with it.
So my question is: do you see this as an hardware or software problem? Have you any suggestions I could try to figure out where the problem is located? Or should I just send it back?
Thanks for your help!
Ask in desire s section.
The videos show an HTC Desire; not a Desire S.

At the invoice it says: HTC Desire SLCD. Isn't that a Desire S?

LOL, no. The Desire S is an other phone:
http://www.htc.com/europe/product/desires/overview.html
The display type does not change the classification. So you have a normal desire. Already used the search for your problem?

I would do so, but what should I search for? For me it's now three problems or a hardware failure. Don't know where to start and how to "debug" the stuff...

So i bought my desire today.but its not launched here(india) officially.is it safe to update it to froyo? Also i compared the colours of my desire to a desire android build in hd2 and i find that my desire has a high contrast.for example the "peep" icon is dark green in the desire but not so dark in hd2. Is this fine or is something wrong?

i dont think htc has launched froyo in asia yet so the best way to update would be to root your desire and install a custom rom also the desire has a amoled screen, it displays alot more colours than a lcd screen that the hd has and has a much higher definition too, so theres nothing wrong its a good thing
Ok so i'll read the rooting guides and all.but right now the phone is not with me.so if the person tries to update the phone the normal way will it screw anything up?
So if i'm not comfortable with the contrast is there any app or anything which can help me to adjust it?

If you do get the ota (Over The Air) uprade, you will get the new hboot, at the moment people with the new hboot cant root until the devs find an exploit in the new hboot

Hi,
I recently bought a HTC Desire from Orange and wanted to ask about a free strobe application, which could 'dance' to music.
I basically want the LED flash to strobe in response to music speeds. I have TeslaLED (Which is amazing) and which has a strobe, but with manual speed controls.
I found this, http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/tools/led-music-beat-strobe_fqez.html which could do it, but is unfortunately off the Market (According to a UK Desire on Orange)
Please help! (Also I like the new 'searches as you type thread name' thing!)
Thanks in advance,
Dylan
Try MarketAccess, the app should still be there

Ah, thanks very much for the reply. Unfortunately I have not rooted my device, and I really don't want to (after bad experiences with other phones)
Any other suggestions?

So i saw this video where they showcased some sort of GPS navigation on the Desire HD, and am wondering if this is something that is out there yet? And is it possible to get it on the Desire?
Which video?
I assume you mean this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHO9A9Zf5g8M
At around 4:30 into the video it shows a new app called locations
I like the look of this too - no reliance on downloading of maps and incoming calls wont stop maps either
I want this on my Desire!!
I've been using it on my desire. It's pretty good the voices for directions are better than goggle navigation.

Exactly.
@ratchetnclank, yea where and how did you get it?
Ratchetnclank, are you using this on a Desire (non HD / Z), please confirm
I'm using it on my desire. It is part of the Desire HD rom found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=789830
However before you go flashing this Rom bear in mind it is not fully operational yet (ie no camera) HTC locations is a massive leap forward compared to Google Navigation.
Hmm, so its not possible to get HTC Locations as a standalone app? Anyway thanks for the link.

or if your on the desire running a HD port.
Its because the system requires some software which only comes with the new sense.

Not strictly true. Just use an HD ROM.
RcHDMix or SuperVillainHD
EDIT - Yes, I'm registered and in now on my desire.
Looking at a list of the following to download:
- Wallpapers
- Scenes
- Skins
- Sound Sets
- Ring Tones
- Alarm Sounds
- Notification Sounds
On the website, you can track your phone's location, although mine thinks I'm in Africa...
Haha... just found a great feature - 'Make phone ring at full volume' - BANG - my phone starts ringing to the suprise of my colleagues.
Seriously, get an HD ROM on your phone and check it out! Very nice indeed.
...and it works... :d:d
It keeps telling me 'Phone Finder' is disabled on my phone but it damn well is.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Im using RCMix HD ROM on my Desire.

Thought even i wouldn't move to the HD rom until the cam is fixed but have to see the htcsense.com now
Anyone tried with the Desire to see whap happen? Is possible to use? (Is a stupid question?)
You can't as it asks you to select your device when registering. You need the HTC Hub app on the phone to connect to it...
Having said that, issues I've found with the site is the location not working (says disabled when it's enabled on the phone) and HTC Hub on the site crashed and wouldn't load content again

everything work fine to me in Serbia. First it show me location somewhere in Indian Ocean but then i refresh my location on phone (google maps). Yes the site sometimes show error but after 2 sec it displays everything ok.
Ah, not used Maps yet, will give it a blast
EDIT: It thinks I'm off the coast of Nigeria - hahahaha!!
EDIT EDIT: Now has my correct location. This is pretty sweet
Is there any chance to get only the HTC Hub app and install it on another ROM?
(for example OpenDesire, because even if it doesn't evolve anymore, it's still the one I prefer...)

I don't think so as it is a Sense app. I may be wrong tho
I am really close to ordering a Desire Z from bell canada to use on ATT here in the states.
It will be replacing my Sony Experia X1A. It seems to be able to do everything the Xperia can but I am unsure about in-call recording.
My Xperia clearly records both sides of the call and saves them to the SD card.
It took a long time for the Experia to get hacked enough for this to be possible, but because the Z and the Ex are both HTC phones at heart, I am optimistic.
Is this possible on the Desire Z?
The app market has apps to do this

HAHA this would be great for Prank Calls XD
"Total Recall" can do this.
if you can take speakerphone recording, then there are many apps on the market to do that.
otherwise, you may have to find another phone......
i have a little overview here...

I just got the following email back from Killer Mobile Software when I asked if it would work:
Feedback says no - caller side audio will be very low.
Stay Killer My Friend,
Killer Mobile Software
I can confirm that in-call recording is a problem on Desire Z / G2.
Incoming audio is low-quality and low-volume.
Total Recall seems to be the best choice for Desire Z atm. (I tried nearly every app.)
rVoix seems promising, but requires root:

The phone I am ordering will come rooted, and I fully expect that I would have to root it anyway.
Thanks for the link on rVoix. I am following up with him to see about getting it up on the Desire Z.

I haven't tried but I think it has a >90% chance of working.
Recording with the help of speakerphone is doable on most, if not all, phones. The problem is that the quality of the other side is relatively poor.
If you really need true 2-way call recording, check out the thread I mentioned earlier, you may have to get another phone.
I like this app called "sanity" it has lots of features and one is recording.
