[Q] LED Strobe to music - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I recently bought a HTC Desire from Orange and wanted to ask about a free strobe application, which could 'dance' to music.
I basically want the LED flash to strobe in response to music speeds. I have TeslaLED (Which is amazing) and which has a strobe, but with manual speed controls.
I found this, http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/tools/led-music-beat-strobe_fqez.html which could do it, but is unfortunately off the Market (According to a UK Desire on Orange)
Please help! (Also I like the new 'searches as you type thread name' thing!)
Thanks in advance,
Dylan

Try MarketAccess, the app should still be there

Ah, thanks very much for the reply. Unfortunately I have not rooted my device, and I really don't want to (after bad experiences with other phones)
Any other suggestions?

[Q] How do you know you can update?

So i bought my desire today.but its not launched here(india) officially.is it safe to update it to froyo? Also i compared the colours of my desire to a desire android build in hd2 and i find that my desire has a high contrast.for example the "peep" icon is dark green in the desire but not so dark in hd2. Is this fine or is something wrong?

i dont think htc has launched froyo in asia yet so the best way to update would be to root your desire and install a custom rom also the desire has a amoled screen, it displays alot more colours than a lcd screen that the hd has and has a much higher definition too, so theres nothing wrong its a good thing
Ok so i'll read the rooting guides and all.but right now the phone is not with me.so if the person tries to update the phone the normal way will it screw anything up?
So if i'm not comfortable with the contrast is there any app or anything which can help me to adjust it?

If you do get the ota (Over The Air) uprade, you will get the new hboot, at the moment people with the new hboot cant root until the devs find an exploit in the new hboot

In-Call Recording

I am really close to ordering a Desire Z from bell canada to use on ATT here in the states.
It will be replacing my Sony Experia X1A. It seems to be able to do everything the Xperia can but I am unsure about in-call recording.
My Xperia clearly records both sides of the call and saves them to the SD card.
It took a long time for the Experia to get hacked enough for this to be possible, but because the Z and the Ex are both HTC phones at heart, I am optimistic.
Is this possible on the Desire Z?
The app market has apps to do this

HAHA this would be great for Prank Calls XD
"Total Recall" can do this.
if you can take speakerphone recording, then there are many apps on the market to do that.
otherwise, you may have to find another phone......
i have a little overview here...

I just got the following email back from Killer Mobile Software when I asked if it would work:
Feedback says no - caller side audio will be very low.
Stay Killer My Friend,
Killer Mobile Software
I can confirm that in-call recording is a problem on Desire Z / G2.
Incoming audio is low-quality and low-volume.
Total Recall seems to be the best choice for Desire Z atm. (I tried nearly every app.)
rVoix seems promising, but requires root:

The phone I am ordering will come rooted, and I fully expect that I would have to root it anyway.
Thanks for the link on rVoix. I am following up with him to see about getting it up on the Desire Z.

I haven't tried but I think it has a >90% chance of working.
Recording with the help of speakerphone is doable on most, if not all, phones. The problem is that the quality of the other side is relatively poor.
If you really need true 2-way call recording, check out the thread I mentioned earlier, you may have to get another phone.
I like this app called "sanity" it has lots of features and one is recording.

Wireless media transfer to tv

Hi,
I was trying to play a game the other day whilst my girlfriend was over. She has an S3 and got annoyed so somehow started playing music on my tv with a click of a button on her phone. I was pretty amazed at the technology, even though I was more annoyed at the fact I conceded in my game. I have tried searching for information on the feature but haven't found much. Is there anything I can do to go about doing this with my HTC One X? Videos would be great too. Sorry if this is a silly or already answered question.

[APP] Samsung LED Controller - Tasker

Hey Guys,
I have just released an app on the Google Play store.
It is a plugin for tasker so you can control your notification led
Free - Ad Free
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tinyroar.galaxys3ledcontroller
(this plugin only works for touchwiz roms)
Like a charm!
I had searched for a solution to this months ago before giving up. Thanks for this!
I can confirm that it is working on a rooted Verizon S3, as well as a rooted Verizon Note 2. Finally, I can sleep without feeling like I live next to a lighthouse. :victory:

So, what can you do with this... not being flippant, just really getting into Tasker now and checking out all the different apps and plugins available and what they do, etc. Examples?
from my understanding there was a bug with tasker and lightflow that they wouldn't properly control the LED on the S3. This plug in allows you to create tasker tasks to turn them off and on.

This is exactly right,
Let's you control the stock Samsung led controls through tasker

I think any LED "bugs" would lie with LightFlow. It's just an all around POS on these devices.
This works great on both my gs3 and note 2

I don't know if it's even possible what i'm about to ask, but would there be a chance to make this tasker plugin compatibele with Sony devices, for instance Xperia Z1?
I'm already trying solutions for hours but still cannot get tasker to turn off LED notifications at night when my device is charging on a dock.
I never had any problems with this before because I lways charged my phones face down, but now I'm using a dock so this is really bugging me!
EDIT: Light Flow isn't working for me either.
I know this is a REAL old thread, but I'm hoping someone might have a copy of this app. I was using it on my S7 Edge, accidentally deleted it, and it's no longer available in the Play Store. Any help greatly appreciated.
Edit: Never mind. I found the app here: http://www.apkmonk.com/app/com.tinyroar.galaxys3ledcontroller/

Music player lyrics display

Hi,
I've recently bought an M8 and am very pleased with every aspect of it
I've read somewhere that the music player could display songs lyrics, and have tryed so myself with the built in music, though, when i tryed this with my own songs (which I have downloaded, since practicly no digital music stores works in my country) and it didn't work...
I have tryed to press the "Update lyrics" button and got a notification saying it has found the lyrics, but nothing happens
What can i do to make this feature work?
Thanks in advance.

Oh, thank you!
I see that I need my device to be rooted...
All my previous devices were Samsung, and i know that for all the matters of rooting and flashing, HTC devices are different than samsung.
I'd be glad if you could give me a guide which explains how to root HTC one M8.
And I hope it's not risky, since I've bought my M8 in Hong Kong which is not my country, so trying to get a replacement would be a drag..
If it matters, my device is the 2.5GHZ version..

Ok, this guide will take you through the process of unlocking the bootloader, flashing a custom recovery and rooting your device. This procedure carries no real risk.
If you're not familiar with htc devices then I suggest you unlock, flash recovery and root then leave it there. Don't continue to s-off until you are confident that you know how and why as s-off does introduce more risk
