Hi to all..question,can i change my front cover on my Desire?if possible is it difficult, does someone have some link on ebay who sells them or somekind of store?i live in croatia,europe..thx

Try this. Plenty more on Amazon.
before you commit to buying anything... changing the front cover of your desire requires you to literally take apart the ENTIRE phone from back to front, then risk breaking your screen since it's stuck to the front, then buy something to stick the screen back onto the fascia... I wouldn't do it. It's not worth it by any means.

My lens cover has been cracked since purchase. Is there any possible way to get a new lens cover to replace the cracked one??

Mine cracked too :-(
Ive read in other posts that there are basically 2 options:
1. Pay the $100+ fee and have insurance replace the phone
2. Buy the camera replacement package, at like $150
I think some guy got lucky and the Sprint repair shop fixed his, but I don't think this is common.
Post up on how it goes for you.
Hmmm the sprint store said they can't repair it and you can't buy the lens cover anywhere. I wish I noticed it earlier.
Thank you for your input.

Why wouldn't you just return it or exchange it if it has been broken since you bought it...?
It still boggles my wind why they would design the camera to protrude from the back of the device with nothing protecting it so it doesnt sit flush. Even something like a rubber ring around the lens would probably prevent cracks.
I've seen a few on eBay. That piece is part of the internal frame though, and the part is about $50.
You can contact "timewarptables7" on eBay to see if he has any. That's who I got mine through. He said he had 5-6 of them, but that they are somewhat rare and gets them from his supplier only occasionally.
Mine has been this way too
Thanks for that eBay listing..might go through with that. I exchanged my Evo three days before my thirty days were up. Then a few days later, I realized it was cracked. Best Buy said it was then too late to exchange...:-{

Happened to me too. No idea when :-( I even the Platinum Case from BB.
I just ripped out the Lens Cover. Just a matter of time now before something gets stuck in there and scratched the real lens. Guess at that point I will file a claim.
I have a second hand desire, with damaged housing (front and back scratched) I want to get a replacment and fit it. How easy would this be to do baring in mind I have never done anything like this before. Will be as straight forward as taking it apart, paying attention and putting it back together?
Any advice or warnings? Can anything go wrong?
*I had a quick search and people are saying you need to change screens after?
The screen is glued to the housing, and nearly impossible to remove aparantly

Hi guys,
Today I accidentally knocked the side of my 2week old Desire which has just got out of the HTC repair centre after 7 weeks!!! The knock caused the metal surrounding the screen to pop away from the fascia and become bent. I decided to remove it in an attempt to bend it back into shape and then out it back on, however this only made it worse as it I ended up bending it all out of shape/
What I need to buy is the metal part of the front case. It is simply clipped into place however I cannot find it anywhere. I thought about buying a dummy phone and taking it from that.
Please throw your ideas and suggestions at me.
Luke
Did you knock it or whack it with a hammer?
Anyway, if you take the time to google "HTC desire spare parts" you get loads of results
Swyped from my CM7.1 Desire using XDA Premium App
you could also try to buy a bricked phone.. I'm sure you could get it for dirt cheap. It's just a matter of searching.
If you get hold of one, before you put it on sand it down and Polish it so its nice and shiny, will look great

I knocked it on a door.
Well I have bought a dummy phone off eBay and I'm going to try and remove the metal frame from that. Only problem is it may end of getting damaged in the process. The metal is so weak, I don't think it is designed to be removed.

You can get spare cases for the desire on ebay. Maybe you can remove just the metal frame from those?
The little square plastic cover of my camera lens has got a ding in it. Has anyone else replaced one of these and if so how difficult is it. Also where could I source one from? Thanks in advance.

I replaced the whole back part at a samsung official technical shop because of a scratch but if it's not a scratch, just open it and clean it with pressurised air (but it's a bit risky because you might loose warranty)
here's a guide i googled ... : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65pvAINg2ME&feature=related
Hi Nik
Thanks for the reply......
Are you saying it was done by someone else? How much did they charge you? Warranty isn't a consideration but obtaining the part may be difficult.

I bought the part from ebay for about 12 CAD shipped and replaced it myself. Quick and easy job, took about 10 minutes altogether.
Great video, it actually looks fairly easy to replace the back cover...thanks man that's a big help

Ahhh we must have posted at the same time . Thanks Akusokuzan....out of curiosity, what happened to yours?

Yes it was done by samsung's affiliated repair shop in France, it was because le little plastic was scratched very hard with sand (beach etc) so all photos i would take were blured with a white fog
I'm not a huge fan of opening anything except my computer but i'm sure it could be done easily since it's just opening and cleaning (or whatever, i have not really understood what happened to you camera )
to find the part, i found someone on xda that had provided a link to the original parts of the samsung galaxy S2 for like 10 bucks which was very difficult to find because as a french i wasn't knowing the exact word for the "backplate or whatever it is"
now i know it, just google "galaxy S2 original housing" and you'll find plenty results like this one here (assuming you have to change the whole back cover )
and last things it cost me 25€ for the back only with no extra battery cover which is a bit overpriced :V
I actually just wanted to change the mid part to white to have the contrasting black/white lol. just give my phone a bit more character. The hardest part about replacing the housing though was taking the speaker out of the old one and putting it in the new one (where the hump is).
Fixed
Wow...that was easier than I expected. The kit is the same quality as the original as far as I can tell. The case cost me about $30on ebay.
Following the video I'd say that most people could probably repair their phones without too much trouble.
Thanks for your help
Have anybody actually tried to change only the camera lens cover?
I can find the part here on ebay, but I can't seem to find any instruntion or teardown on how to exchange it.
Is it glued on?

Hey Aavar, have you finally replaced the camera lens cover? The rear ones. Have you found a guide for this?
Regards.

I've done this, and it's relatively simple.
1. Remove battery cover and battery (you can remove micro sd and sim if you like).
2. Remove the 7 screws with a precision screwdriver, do not lose.
3. Carefully pry back half of phone from front half (I just used my thumb nails), be careful not to lose volume & power buttons.
4. The lens cover has three tabs that enter from the outside of the phone, and fold over on the inside to prevent it moving. Fold these out so that they are vertical (in doing so mine broke, but this does not matter as we are installing a new lens cover).
5. Once tabs are vertical, push lens cover out (this may take some persuasion).
6. Install new lens cover, fold tabs back and put phone back together.
Let me know if you need photos or further details.

Can you give me a link of the piece?

Thanks for information.
I had the same issue
Hi Guys,
From youtube videos (I know great source of info) it seems that removing back cover on HOX is quite easy.
So two questions come to mind first one no one makes entire back cover replacements in many colours?
Also anyone know where I could get the least original white back cover?
I want to sell my HOX and camera lens is scratched. Does not interfer with pictures due to location of it but still.
Cheers,
Luka
I found a lot of them when looking for a black and white one.

it's not that simple!!
at first you will void your warranty as soon as you detach the cover...then believe me that it's very difficult and you could damage the inner frame or other components, since there's a lot of glue that make you feel the phone very solid in your hands...
but believe me that it's a real pain to change the cover...the most difficult part of opening your phone...
however you should do it just if it's stricly necessary imho...
Nah it's really easy. Takes 10 mins to switch over. There is no glue really. For the most part it is clipped on.
I say go for it. I got my white original cover off ebay for £30.
my camera lens also got little scratched. Is there any chance to replace it only? anyone with the same problem?

i bought one too, replacement is a little difficulty but it looks like new
Thx guys, got one in post from link provided. Now wait till Lumia 920 and htc 8x are available for sale to choose one and sell One X
squeak
My One X has a creaking corner, where the original back cover seems to give in a little. Any guesses if getting a replacement (because the camera lens also has a few scratches) would help? Maybe the fit would be better... or is the creaking problem something related to how the phone itself sits inside the cover, and getting a new back would be pointless?
Has someone experiences with cases from Hong Kong?
They are cheaper and include the SIM Tray...

After putting the whole thing back together, doesn't the phone start creaking, especially at the bottom part?
No
Opened mine 2 times and the bottom fits better than when it came out of the box.
Only opened it to clean the camera lens from inside and always used the same cover it came with.

Great! That's really nice to hear.
Changed mine from black to white... After changing, my phone is more solid then the out-of-the-box black... Wifi reception is better... Needa change it after my friend knocked my hand while crossing the road... Screen is intact and unscathed though...
