Custom Framework-Res.apk - Galaxy S II Themes and Apps

Hi @ll,
I'm looking for some customs' framework-res files.
Trying to build my own, but I'm not doing that good
I just wanna change the status bar incl. the icons etc.
Maybe someone has one.
I'm using the KE7 Firmware, but it doesn't matter for other too.
Thanks
regards

You don't really need a custom framework to change icons and the status bar, just a theme, although that's essentialy what your creating when you apply a theme.
What do you want to do with the status bar? Remove clock, remove date, change the colour of the text, centre the text?

Hi, thanks for your quick reply. I don't wanna using themes. It's not my thing.
I like the stock design. It's like you said, changing the WLAN, Battery(is changed), Date color, as you wrote.

Have a look at my sig, how to theme, it's a very good thread and very helpful.

thanks, i will try.

Your welcome.
If you need any help send me a pm and I'll try help you along.

Which files needed for app-bar

Hi.
I'm going to mod my stock ROM to be as i want, but i need to know which image files i need to edit for making a custom Application-Bar, you know the one to pull up and down on homescreen.
Anyone knows?
status_bar_close_on.9.png is the bar that is dragged down and the permanent one at the top is statusbar_background.png
Already got that one modded with the hero status bar.
Its the one at the bottom with the apps i want to change. Got any idea what these files are called?

I've only done this with cyanogen so not sure whether this is same for all but here goes:
Launcher.apk\res\drawable-port\ic_tray_collape.png
Launcher.apk\res\drawable-port\ic_tray_expand.png
Launcher.apk\res\drawable-port\tray_handle_pressed.png
Launcher.apk\res\drawable-port\tray_handle_selected.png
and the background for the Launcher menu:
Launcher.apk\res\drawable\pattern_carbon_fiber_dark.png
if we change the bar to darker colour, surely it will be impossible to read the clock. Could someone confirm?
Thanks

With a little more modding you can change the text color.
Changing the clock colour is a pain as it is in services.jar rather than the framework-res.apk, if anyone has steps to edit the services.jar do let me know
check out the dream section- there is a thread there about how to do it. Not easy.

[Q] Changing Notification Bar Icons

Basically, I've been using AuraxTSense for a long time now, and once Neo started to implement the Transparent Theme, so I've been sticking with older versions just because I'm not happy with the Transparent Theme. I've now bit the bullet and updated to the latest version, but now there's something I want.
Android Stock has some nice icons, and I'm really not keen on the HTC Notification Bar Icons, I want the icons from stock (like Neo has done in the past, and continues to do) but I have no idea how to do it. I've opened up the framework-res.apk with winzip, browsed in there, found different images etc in there, but I don't know which ones to change.
I hope someone understands what I'm saying!

UOT Kitchen

Hello people. I'm seeing alot of battery mod threads but if you want a little more customisation head over to the UOT kitchen and bake your own framework/system ui.
I did it yesterday and it worked perfectly. You just need clockwork recovery and your away.
Link : http://uot.dakra.lt/
Be sure to head over to this thread and hit thanks. Mendozinas put in alot of work :

I'm just putting this out there for people new to android or that don't know about the kitchen.
Its a great tool!
Enjoy!
Great heads up, i see ti now works with stock ROM's as well, wish they would add the CRT effect though.
this is a good website but unfortunately all that it changes for me is the battery icon and nothing else on status bar or notification area, i am confused whats up with it, its not just this its every theme i try to install does the same
well, the main prob with kitchen and our phones (S series and S2 too) is Touchwizz.
modifications via kitchen only affect framework-res.apk ;touchwizz needs modifications on twframework too.
knowing this, you can still use kitchen for :
-battery icons.
-notification icons
-glowing (at least for sliders bars and a part of the pop-up windows IF they aren't managed by twframework ).
haven't tried mods on status bars yet with my S2 but they were ok with my old galaxy S so it's probably the same.
P.S :
as always with themes, don't forget to wipe cache and dalvik cache after applying it viaCWM
hope it helps
Can someone provide me framework-res.apk and systemui.apk from stock KE7? Thanks.
How to submit it? I selected what I needed, uploaded framework-res.apk and systemui.apk but when I click Submit button nothing happens!
OK, I figured it out. But I can't select 'Transparent Status Bar' only, I don't want any modifications on status bar but just to make it Transparent! Maybe it's not allowed!

Can you choose status bar then not put a tick in the box for icons?
That should work.

It's working now
Well the Transparent Bar is not working for me. Just for me I just selected only Transparent Bar and nothing else, but it's the same damn black status bar in the end
Try with ADW launcher for the transparent statusbar and disable wallpaper hack

Ain't you supposed to upload the twframework.apk along with the framework-res and systemui? I did and everything changed, battery, signal, wifi, alarm, menus, pop ups, font, everything I told it to its changed everytime.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App

Hi all, hope your well.
Thank you directing us to the kithen. I have tried to use but seem to have an issue. When I select a mod, and click generate preview, it doesnt do it. It tries to generate it but then just times out. Anyone else had/having the same issue? Am I missing something or could it just be my internet?
Everything else works fine on my internet.
Thanks in advance guys!!
EDIT: Sorted. It just started to work.

[Q] Can you change the notification Bar Clock Colour?

Is there a way to easily change the notification bar clock colour?
I have used the UOT kitchen but this isn't one of the features that you can change.
Cheers Rob
If your phone is rooted and your rom is compatible you can use RCTeam Tweaks!

pretty sure it's one of the features you can change...made mine blue
Status bar --> check 'use this mod'
scroll down a bit, then check 'topbar text' --> change your colour
this question would have been more appropriate in the actual UOT thread, but never mind...
Sorry but it was never meant as just a UOT problem but more of a "is there ANY way of doing it?"
By the way I already tried this and everything else turned a different colour except the clock which stayed white.
I also used the Cyanogenmod theme picker which had the same result.

so when using the kitchen, in the preview pane, does it show your new clock colour as well as all your other customisations? but after flashing only the clock colour does not apply?
hmm then that is strange
i've not use the cyanogen theme picker, but have used the kitchen to change the clock colour for cyanogen on an htc wildfire.
perhaps try uploading your framework.res and systemUI files manually rather than using the kitchen list.
or if you're already doing that and if it still doesnt work, cos it's definitely possible using UOT, ask in that thread providing your UOT file number, the dev is usually very helpful.

[Q] Change the icons on the status bar

I am not sure if this is in the right spot but it said Q&A so thinking its a good place to start. I am looking to find out if I can change the status bar icons to be colors. I amd running [JB:CM10:HYBRID][OFFICIAL]ParanoidAndroid 2.55 for T989[18 Nov 2012] (Love it btw) so I guess the best way to word this is I use go sms pro for txting and the icon that comes up when I get a txt is a very nice noticable green color and I know I have a txt in a quick glance, I also have the facebook app and when I get a notice from facebook its a white and so are my mail and all the other icons so it is hard tell the diffrents between them. so I was wonding if there was a way to change this or if there is a mod for it. if anyone needs more info I am happy to post it. Thank you
If you would like to modify some of the notification bar icons you would have to modify some images in the system framework of your phone which would be difficult if it's your first time.
The easier way to change them, is that since you're using a CM10 ROM you can try out some CM10 Themes from the Play Store. Click here to view all of the available themes.
All the themes will help you change the overall look of your phone, that includes the notification icons. You will just need to apply the themes with the Theme Chooser application. Cheers!
