I'm running CM 7.1 RC1 (tried the latest nightlies as well..) in my Desire Z.
Recently my Wifi stopped finding networks. If I turn on Wifi in the settings, it displays no available networks (the remembered ones are still shown as "Not in Range" though), and says it is connecting. If I do however start Wifi Analyzer before turning on the wifi (turning Wifi on via the pull down menu thing) Wifi Analyser says "Turning on Wifi, please wait.." and then finds the networks available. After that my phone connects just fine.
Any idea what I could do to fix it..?
The latest Nightly (160) fixed it.

Hello
i have a htc desire gsm
and im running cyanogen mod 6.1.1 with radio version 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
i have the following problems:
i can connect to networks without a problem, and the connection seems stable and fast
but reconnecting is a problem, if i disconnect from a network, by disabling wifi or moving out of range, most of the times the wifi does not auto reconnect. it just stays as remembered and disabled. if i then click on the saved network it connects fine.
sometimes it has to connect two times to get a conenction, looks like connecting, then searching then connecting in the wireless and networks config screen.
its not a big problem but annoys me as hell
on the other hand i have one network, protected with 802.1x eap (ttls and pap) its the configuration where you need to input username and password and use a certificate.
with this network i have connection problems, connection works 1 out of 4 times and if not then i have to redo the whole config. this annoys me even more because the network is unusable for me most of the time.
and
today i had the problem that the wifi conenction dropped regularly, connected, then came scanning which disconnected my wifi and then reconnected. and so on.
wifi settings even force closed then
had to reboot, after that was fine. lets see for how long
i have googled around but never found an answer or fix for this.
so can anybody help me here ?
and i have some related questions.
is there an app that can show me only wifi and related logs ?
is wifi connection related to radio version ?
where are the wifi settings located ? like saved networks and so on ?
thx in advance
I also have that auto reconnection problem. Waiting for a fix for that.
Does it manifest exactly as I described it or in some other way?

Hi all, I just recently updated my Defy from CM7 RC1v2 to a nightly (110825-0058). Back when I was on RC1, I used Wifi Tether from the market and followed the instructions on a modaco thread (pushing the hostapd from an update zip into /system/bin), and was able to share my 3g data over wifi flawlessly. Now after upgrading to the nightly, Wifi tether no longer works (getting an error in the log that says failed to intialize wifi and hostapd. The stock Portable Wifi hotspot feature in the Wireless/Network settings also won't allow me to share 3g data (It only seems to work, I'm getting the portable hotspot active icon in the notification area and can successfully connect to my phone AP, but I get limited connectivity and am unable to open any web pages. I've checked my ip settings and everything is fine (same settings i used back in RC1). My 3G data is also enabled, and am able to browse the web just fine on the phone. Upon checking system info, my kernel is already 179-4 (which is what supposedly works with the wifi hotspot feature accdg. to the main CM7 dev thread). PLEASE HELP.....I used this feature a lot and had no problems with it back in RC1....

Looking for any ideas...
When I activate WiFi near a known network, it starts to connect, holds at obtaining an ip address, the disconnects and restarts the connection process.
Happens on multiple WiFi access points, home, work, hotel. Rebooted my home router in the hopes that it was coincidence, but it did not help. Wife's Facinate and iPad, and both of our work laptops (Windows7) connect to the home network just fine.
Running CM7 Nightly 258
11/14 Incredikernel, downgraded to the unofficial 11/04 and the official 10/8. Even tried the stock CM7 kernel.
Was running the 08.08 radio, switched to the 07.07, but still have the issue.
WiFi works after a wipe and reinstall untill I reboot, then this starts.
My droid pro did that on cm7 for a while. It would connect if I went to the WiFi settings screen though. Have you tried going to WiFi settings while its in this connecting loop?

Unfortunately yes. I have turned on wifi from the notification widget and from inside settings and receive the same result, no connection and a big battery drain.
Fixed it over the weekend. In case others have problems with AT&T U-Verse 2Wire routers, the change I made that resolved it was to switch from the router default wireless security of WPA to WPA/WPA2...
I ROOTED and unlocked my phone as soon as the option was available. Afterwards I entered the *#6335623# to change the wifi popup. Ever since I've had to manually connect the wifi to the closest signal. I've tried to use the same *#6335623# code on the dialer but it doesn't come up any longer. Has anyone had this issue because I haven't seen it posted anywhere.
I'm running Aokp on the latest vrlhe radio.
Does anyone have any ideas. It seems that it now not only doesn't auto connect to closest wifi, its starting to say that all the connects are poor signals even when 10 ft away from the wifi box.
Uncheck the poor signal option under advanced settings, and see if that fixes it.
Hi All,
I am still lumbering on with an old HTC Desire running CM 7.07282011-Nightly and have had no real issues up until a couple of days ago.
Whilst in France (not that that make a lot of difference) the Wi-Fi access stopped working and the phone stopped being able to see any Wi-Fi networks. Basically, it switches itself off after around 30 seconds and cannot pick up any networks. In addiiton, the WiFi MAC address shows as unavailable although teathering via a WiFi hotspot works fine. I was switch between teather and normal Wi-Fi when the problem occurred.
If I go into Settings --> Wireless and Networks -->WiFi setting, then switch on the Wi-Fi, I get the "Turning on" message but then a Sorry warning saying "Application Settings (in process com.andriod.settings is not responding" and I can either "force a close" or "wait". If I wait, the Wi-Fi will simply switches itself off after about 30 seconds.
I did read in another post that this might be to do with the Wi-Fi sleep status but I tried all 3 options (from the menu in the Wi-Fi setting page) but that didn't do anything.
The issue appears to be that that phone has lost the Wi-Fi adaptors MAC address (says unavailable). However, I can still use Wireless Tethering and connect to to the phones WiFi hotspot. I think something has go screwy with the Wi-Fi tethering and Wi-Fi access (as I was switching between both when on my travels), but I need some help in trying to fix it.
Any Help Welcome
Chris
I tried updating to cm-7-20130301-NIGHTLY-bravo (whuch was the last release version), but still no joy.
Any help welcome
Well, after trying pretty much everything, I had to run a factory reset on the phone. Finally, my Wi-Fi is working again. Of course I now have the ball aching job of setting the phone up and re-installing all my apps again. Google restore is pretty rubbish
Looks like there must have been a config setting that got screwed somewhere. I did take a backup of the ROM and if anyone knows where this might be resolved, I wouldn't mind restoring.
