Any thoughts? Suggestions?
I have migrated to the MyTouch 4G Slide, leaving this bad boy lonely. What should I do with it?
You can give it away; I'm sure some folks who frequent this forum would like it. You can sell it on eBay. I'm sure you can get more than just the shipping cost. You could use it for specialized purposes (GPS, Internet radio, ....). You could keep it as a back up. You can try Android on it.
give it to the less fortunate (me)
Donate it to the xdandroid developers. That's what ima do come november when I get the epic 4g

I agree donate it to developer so they can use it for testing rhodium stuff for us

Hi everyone,
I'm currently using the AT&T Fuze. I'm waiting to get the Samsung Galaxy S that has a keyboard (unbastardized by Sprint), but my phone is constantly having more and more hardware issues. I am interested in buying a Touch Pro 2 that is of the GSM version and it can be either new or used. My one biggest thing is that I want the screen to be scratch free. If any of you guys are planning on switching to a new phone and don't know what to do with your Touch Pro 2, please message me with how much you are willing to sell it for. I live in the US.
For these things, there is the Marketplace subforum.
yes I know, I did check out the marketplace forum, but there is either the phones I dont use or they're pretty expensive. I posted it here because I think that there might be a chance that the everyday forum goer here might have plans on selling their old tp2 in good condition.
to the mods: if you find this against the rules, I apologize and you guys can go ahead and delete this post at your leisure.
If the evo was released before the Droid x why is it still not able to output more than just the gallery and YouTube over hdmi I just saw an app called real hdmi that allows the droid x to do just that its on the market and by the reviews it seems to work quite well
I'm actually surprised its simple enough to be an app on the market. I thought this would have to be in the kernel to work.
My next question is will any evil forces out there try to have the app removed from market. It's just to good to be true.
Your premise is flawed. If the Evo came out first, it stands to reason that it would have less mature functionality, not more. The Droid X is newer, so it's able to avoid the mistakes of the Evo. That whole "First" campaign could really backfire on Sprint, I've always feared.
I would love to see an app like that one for the EVO.......

Seriously, don't contact the developer. I am fielding about 200-300 emails a day from EVO users. At the beginning was trying to do individual responses but now just going through my mailbox copying and pasting the same response to folks.
The EVO is totally different processor/GPU/HDMI controller then the droid X therefore very little about the solution that I came up with for the droid x is applicable ot the EVO.
I have had some very nice folks from the EVO community that have reached out to me offering to help offset the cost of an evo phone as well as help provide information to aid development. Have also receive some fairly abusive and obscene messages from evo users who bought the app (ignoring my text in the marketplace about only working on droid x), as well as having evo users leave one star reviews on the market place for my app.
I am looking into the possibility of an EVO app, but am still heavily working on the DX app. So I currently don't have the time to put a significant effort into the EVO phone. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of an app down the road, as it would appear the graphic pipelines might be more configurable on the evo then the DX. But its not going to be any time soon.
Thanks for the response gmanapps.
Might save you a few headaches if you can rename the app to include Droid X in the app title. Nobody reads anymore...but they might read the app title at least.
wow, that was really cool of you to give us a heads up gman.
The HDMI on the EVO is an obvious disappointment. If you release an app for us I'll buy it twice and give you ten stars

Thanks for the heads up. I found out about the droid x app from my friend last night and now I'm friggin jealous, lol. Sorry about the rude people. Once you get this built there's obviously alot of $ waiting to be made from the evo community. Good luck with the evo app and can't wait till it comes.
Suspect. Someone needs to step up and be a test dummy.
Hdmi4all put the link up of where you found this.

Let's lobby for this awesome device on Sprint and Virgin Mobile
You bet! This is going to be a popular phone 'cause of the cost vs. features. It also is in need of some serious tweaking, but is very easy to brick (first hand) because all the info you need is scattered all over the place.
If any phone needs a forum, this one does.

I had one for a while just until the Evo came back in stock (back in late August) and I do think it's pretty good for a relatively AOSP device. It does need some serious tweaking though since it's pretty slow/laggy. My mom and two sisters all have Intercepts and it'd be nice to throw on a new ROM/remove bloatware since they're always complaining about how slow it is (and I believe them because I've owned it!).
Cyanogenmod on the Intercept could speed things a bit.

Just got this phone and would like to see a more comprehensive discussion about it form here.

This might be my next phone. The Virgin Mobile plans look great.

On captivate currently paying 25 just for 2 gigs data and 50 for lowest voice package half of which are "rolled over" infinitely.

Get it done.
Get Intercept attention.
Please rate and vote to front at top of this thread. Intercept needs a forum.
Intercept coming soon. Next week.
+10 been looking for a comprehensive forum on the intersept.
I don't have one, but my sister does, and I'd love to be able to learn more about it....not having a dedicated section here for intercept forces me to search for less trustworthy sources of info than I would find here.

My mom wants me to come to Verizon on her family plan, as I look at the phone selection nothing really interest me. The upcoming thunderbolt is much to big and I wont purchase any motorola device. I was going to get this on a one year contract, and then by the end up of the year, I'm sure there will be something out, that I will like, or should i just suck it up and buy a thunderbolt, since I do live in an LTE Area.
Forgot to add some details.
I am switching because i don't get t mobile service on my universitys campus.
I am a nexus one, if that matters at all.
Thanks
Dreday
Only VZW and HTC can say when the Incredible will go EOL. That being said, even if it goes EOL tomorrow, its functionality isn't going to decrease. You don't stand to lose much, if anything at all, by picking it up on a one year contract.
Conversely, there are some pretty compelling reasons (for some) to go with the Thunderbolt... better cpu, faster gpu, HTC Sense 2.0, DLNA, SVDO, et al.
Not known what isn't known
Yep - these new devices look/sound superb - for the future.
For now, a one-year contract the DInc is hard to beat - IF you are interested in modding/tweaking.
Why?
Until the new devices are released, rooted, and have an interested and solid group of innovative developers, they'll be mostly stock devices, with unknown mod choices.
The DInc has nearly a year's worth of development in the books, and the mods to show for it.
So, if you want a device with a solid bench of developers and flock of mods, the DInc is the way to go. If ya wanna run the latest/greatest device that's cool too, but the modification choices will be fewer until the development community catches up.
just my $.02
It's already been leaked that the Incred is going EOL on 3/31.

Yeah this is what keeps the incredible interesting it my not have the specs, but it has a solid dev community.
*sigh*
The DInc will never die!

Hi,
I see from another forum that several inquiries have been made about giving the Samsung Indulge it's own forum here at XDA.
I'd like to ask this question of the forum developers here.
Another post said that the answer given was that only the top four carriers can get a forum here.
Why?
We need some help cracking this phone from some of you heavy hitters here . Apparently it's not easy. There is alot of crapware on this phone, and the battery life is abysmal.
There is some talk at the Android forum of offering a bounty.....anyone interested in this?
If the fact that this phone is locked down so tightly doesn't warrant it getting it's own forum here, what does? Seems like this phone is the perfect candidate. And wasn't it one of the first 4g phones actually available? I would think this would be enuff to get a heavy hitter interested.
Bragging rights and all.
Help!
I second this notion but rather you guys like it or not, Metropcs have its first android 4g phone with an unlimited $60 dollar plan no contract, i can see metro taking over if other carriers don't get with the program! Back on Topic, please can u make a device thread for this phone, its still new but it will soon get much attention if u let it. This website has the best hackers and trouble shooters i know, i know because im coming from an HTC HD2. The samsung indulge has great potential but its super locked down! Help us, its not like it wont fit in, it is an android phone which could even offer fixes for others, please don't exclude us from the community based on carrier, kinda sad.................
Yep, we need help. We have the phone rooted but need something more. Samsung has done some strange stuff with this phone.
I now this thread is probably gonna be trashed, because XDA only supports the primary 4 carriers. However with the recent addition of nationwide cellular phone service as well as LTE for the top U.S. cities Metropcs deserves a second consideration. Metropcs will no doubt be a competitor in the very same market as the primary 4 for a long time to come. With that competition expanding (more rapidly than the other as well) one way or another Metropcs is many people's future. To put a finer point on it. Metropcs should be a defacto choice for the open source community in general as their lack of restrictions on their network, As well as not requiring any kind of contract puts them in a decidedly less evil position than the primary 4. Did i mention they charge about half as much and are truly unlimited? I realize most skiddies could care less, because they are on mommy and daddys dime anyhow. However some of us working class people actually desire to support with our hard earned money those who believe in things like freedom of information and supporting the company that adheres closest to our personal principles, and not supporting the very same company who would lobby against the very consumer it was created to support. Now im not a Metropcs fan boy, and i understand that Metropcs also can lobby against general consumer desires, But without the likes of company's like Metropcs to rival the Quadopoly there is little interest on the quadopoly's part to provide better services at ever more reasonable price points. And while i mention only Metropcs, there are many other companys in their own region fighting to provide the same benefits to their consumer's. That if the quadopoly's had their way would be incapable on competing due to cost of entry and spectrum saturation.
im in, signing the petition or whatever i need to do
i have an indulge i can send out if anyone is interested in creating a custom rom for us, one thats rooted
I agree with everything said above! I support the concept of "free" and I do want to hold providers accountable for "unlimited". Whatever it takes. With a European perspective and the way cellular business is overseas, I can see that this forum actually helps people break free from the claws of the cellular trust dominating the US market and practicing marginally predatory hardsell fineprint type contracts. This would be one more step to freedom. A bold one. Just think about everything that's going to start happening, once an unrestricted ROM for Indulge hits the openspace... more people would pick these phones and ditch their contracts and the day when the snowball swallows "the big 4" will be near!
allow me to throw my name on the petition as well. Who knows these countermeasures could be included on future phones on the big 4. In which case getting it fixed before it hits there would work for everyone.
I pledge to pledge if a bounty is started for whoever can get full root on the Indulge!
I agree, MetroPCS phones should be taken into consideration. I used to have metro, but their phones lacked what I needed which forced me to move to Tmobile (eh.. nexus 1 bells 'n whistles helped too)
Anyhow, I'm in agreement with choosing a carrier that is less expensive and therefore more competitive in the mobile market. I'm tired of paying $180ish for 2 phones when I could have "more" for $120ish.
The phones have the capability, its just a matter of exploiting it.
I'm in for the possibility of expanding the community to include metro phones.
There is a Bounty thread started at the Indulge Forum at Androidforums.com.......

bounty thread
myprepaiddroid has it's own indulge forum section it's lacking a little but it's a start.
Yes I agree with all of the above. Please lets do it, indulge owners count too...

Mods should take note that this was the FIRST LTE Android phone available, doesn't that count for something?
According to the fcc filings this phone is able to make a voice call while data is active (not common with most CDMA phones) but it was disabled in software. That would be an amazing feature to unlock
Until the forum is created I suggest that all the Indulge owners look here
http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-indulge/
i also think there should be a section for the indulge, that is a really good device
ok
thanks for help
Now that a one click root solution has been created can we get more attention on this phone?

Also this will be jumping onto Cricket this summer so we need more users here. Reminds me of the Epic or Transform.
