Oh i dunno maybe if you put this question in the right place then yes it would be answers for you..
There is a Q&A section for you to put this question in don't waste developers time and mods time by putting your question here. you will get flamed just a fair warning I'm not mad just saying...
Dont think its possible Teppic74's downgrader wouldn't work on the ARA build, so doubt it will work like this.

You should had to ask this in your mind before flashing an RUU that contain an hboot update!
Go to www.shipped-roms.com and find the froyo RUU and flash it, it should downgrade your hboot and you should be able to root again. If you have a branded desire you’re going to need goldcard.
I you dont know how to Flash a RUU use the search function

It's reported to not work! The new hboot does not allow to flash an older hboot.
An S-off could have protected him. Have you tried the new AlpharevX to try and S-Off ur device? If it works, you can reverse the process later.

Try their irc channel as well. It could be a 'soft' incompatibility, wherein they've disabled it because they havent yet tested it.
Is there no other rootable rom of the same hboot?

My downgrade tool almost certainly won't work on this. However, if someone manages to root this version, there's a good chance it will.

Paul Obrien did. Someone might ask him how to
he also flashed the hboot that came with the update.

If I not wrong, was a temp root anyway. But if Paul flashed the new hboot, this is a good news for those that flashed it too. He will of course find the way to change rom

I agree as well, but in the meantime there possibly are a few thousand Desire users who want this problem solved. Another possibility is that people who waited for the GB-update want to root after this disappointing update. They also might be potential donators (including me), so please get root for the official GB-update up and running!
Thanks in advance!
Hello mates, i'm having the same issue, just want to downgrade back to froyo and i can't do it because of the hboot . i've tried with unrewoked, went to shipped roms but nothing succeded.. can you please, tell me if someone managed to fix it ? thanks.
I know its frustrating but you will probably have to wait, keep an eye on the Desire Android Development section, I'm sure when theres a fix the devs will post it up there for you

1. This is in the wrong section.
2. There are several threads about this already. No need to start a new one.
3. If you don't have s-off anymore it means you didn't have radio s-off and now you are stuck. You will not have root again.
Have a nice day.
Hello everyone and thanks for the replies. then in the future will be out a way to make the root in this version?thanks.

Most likely it will at some point in the future. If at all possible that is (insert scared shudder here).
The new devices rolling off the assembly line somewhere will all have the latest ROM and imho there are just too many useful things that require root.
If HTC, on the other hand, has succeeded in closing this ROM so tight that are no holes left to exploit I personally think that it will reflect negatively on their sales. Fat lot of good that will do us, I know.

Its on 2.2.1 and hboot is 1.001
So I get the joke, I can't root it
But is there still a way of putting a generic ROM on it ?
If the "old days" you could do it with a gold card.
Does this still work on "2.2.1" ?
many thanks in advance
No, it doesn't. Sorry.
You could try downgrading there is a thread but the issus is there is a possibility of bricking the device so of course be carefully

It's to risky....wait and root if it's possible for u !
u can only update RUU rom.
you could do the S-OFF (security off)in any bigger service with XTC-clip,after that you can root and flash what ever you wish......

I tried several times with a gold card and the shipped WWE RUU, but failed with a signature error.
I searched but couldn't fine a specific thread on flashing stock RUU for 2.2.1. Can someone plz point me.... Thanks in advance.
Question don't belong in the Development section <---please click link and read....moved to general...
the older days have gone.
none of the processes which worked for eclair wildfire (with older hboot) now work for froyo wildfire.
And till now, on froyo wildfire with hboot 1.01, u cant even get a simple root just for using ROOT ONLY APPS.
what all u can do is WAIT DUDEEEE...................
Hi,
I just got my dhd back from repair and they updated it to 2.50.405.2 -.-
Is this downgradable yet to root ? I ****in hate standard roms
Please help..
Thanks
i think versions above 2.37 can't be downgraded yet.
i am waiting for downgrade of 2.42 as well. just wait
I to have 2.50.405.2 after repair.
I found rooted this version
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1155634&highlight=2.50.405.2
But dont know will it help to change ROM.
If some one will find some solution please share it.
gingerbreak 1.2 not working with 2.50
Well, u need clockworkmod to flash it which u need rom manager for. And for rom manager u need root
I think we'll have to wait.. But the 2.37+ downgrade has been in development for about 2 months now.. Taking way to long
Probably waiting to see which bootloaders are unlocked, as promised.
Due out in September.

Trivial Question
I have a trivial question, I am very interested in rooting using this method, however I have recently encountered an issue with my stock rom ever since I did the OTA update to 2.43.611.1 The issue is HTC Sence has stopped unexpectedly window pops up quite often & in talking to telus my provider & HTC them selves, they both say the phone needs to be repaired,
My question since I encountered the problem immediatly upon doing the OTA update should I get it repaired first or just try rooting to see if that fixes it.
Also if possible can I be pointed in the direction of how to return to stock Telus if I end up rooting & the probelm still persists?
My thanks to thoes who have diligently be working & involved in helping others & myself reach root status on higher Build numbers.
Great Work!

The reason you're getting the error after the ota update is the same reason why people get issues after installing custom roms and not wiping their device... the old cache and user data conflicts with the update.
Downgrading and then flashing a custom rom along with flashing an updated radio will remedy the problem. I dont believe you'll want to use the initial radio release, I highly recommend flashing the radio from the 2.52 korean release to your Telus DHD, along with the ril's from that release and replacing the ones in the rom you will flash via cwm recovery. ENG S-OFF is required to flash a new radio or recovery img.
Once you downgrade, you can always return to the stock 2.43.661.1 rom. There is a thread in the Desire HD/Inspire 4G Forum on Driphter.com where I've placed the RUU's of common builds (especially for Telus and AT&T). If returning the device for warranty purposes, you must Radio S-On prior to Installing the stock rom via the RUU. The RUU Itself will set ENG to SHIP, and unroot.
Excellent, Greatly appreciated.
Might try rooting as soon as tonight. Kind of excited to have a functional device again!
I am glad that it worked, i thought OH **** the other day, when i found out that i shouldn't have updated to 2.50, if i was about to root..
Big thanks to you JSL, nice work, and easy tuturial!!

Cheers guys I will try that downgrade guide. Just a note though. The file fize of the version of HTC Sync for the Desire HD I'm downloading is 66.6MB. I hope that isn't an omen for this to go horrendously wrong

Hi Guys!
I bought a used DZ for my Girfriend.
It has Eng-Off and CWM installed already.
I read here in the forum that it would be "cleaner" to have S-Off instead of Eng-Off? Is this correct?
if yes, how can i do it? Can i just click on S-Off in AMT?
Thank you in advanced, regards, Chris

ENG is referring to the HBOOT (there's no such thing as ENG-OFF); you can return to the standard HBOOT while keeping S-OFF (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=999796) though, keeping the ENG HBOOT won't hurt anything.

Hello!
Thank your for the answer, but sorry for being anoying.
XDA is always over the top and I'm flashing my HD2 since a half year, but sometimes some basics are ahrd to understand, so please let me asksome more questions:
1. Eng-Off: Ok, so i will let her device as it is. I flashed yesterday the virtuous sense 3.0 rom, she is very satisfied with it
I will get my brand new DZ on Monday, so am I with the following right?
2. If i have a software higher than 1.34 I have to connect it to AMT, click on "Downgrade ROM" and then put the 1.34 on the SD-Card, Boot in Hboot and the phone will ask to install it, right?
3. When done this, i can go back to AMT and click s-off, super-cid, perm root, install recovery and let it work?
4. When this is done, i can go into hboot -> recovery and can flash the rom i want to?
If we have to send one back to HTC for warranty how can i get it back to stock the easiest way?
Only found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Returning_to_Stock
But this looks very complicated to me, isn't there a easier way?
Thank you very much for answering my questions

Glad I could help.
As far as #2-4, I'm not sure what AMT is so, I can't say; I would however recommend using the guide in the Wiki for all of those steps. The guide is always the most up to date and, while the steps seem complicated, they really aren't (I rooted my G2 following the guide while drinking the day root was first achieved), just be sure to check your typing before sending the commands and all will be fine.

You can still S-OFF your phone.
After a while, the script might (if needed) try to download a PD98IMG file. When it gives an error simply google for the filename (might be PD98IMG-GB2 for example) and place it in the PD98IMG directory AAHK created. Everything should go well. I S-OFF'd my Desire yesterday.

Thanks for the information!
I had also read about 'Easy Ace Root Tool' in dev forum. But I have a question regarding that.
- It says that only Custom ROMs can be installed, not Ported ROMs. What is meant by 'ported ROMs'? Will I not be able to install, say Sabsa prime or Venom's ROM(which are ported from One S and Desire X), if I unlock bootloader using Easy Ace root tool?
Also, does it support flashing 4ext recovery?
could you please tell me at least which version of aahk you used? already found in the web PD98IMG-GB2 and i am willing to do the proccess... already red many forums about rooting my desire hd. but since you did that proccess already i think you can give some reliable tips even if this topic is unsupported here. i know that discussing about aahk is unwelcome in the xda forum and i am sorry for this but i think you would agree that its the way with the most chances of success. or anyway could you suggest me any another way to follow?

Unlocking the bootloader will allow you to flash any recovery that is for the device (DHD / Inspire 4G), Custom roms built from source (CM) and modified sense roms work great. Ported roms I am not sure, but you can try it out. In the worst case scenario, you might get stuck in the splash screen and you will have to flash a different one.

You don't need S-OFF to root. You can just run this and you will be just fine. You don't have to be a programmer to root your phone, just do a little reading and searching will suffice.
