I just updated to clockworkmod 3.0.8 (because gapps dont work on 2.5) and I am still NOT getting android market and other google apps on my phone. I don't get it. What am I doing wrong?
So you downloaded the GAPPS zip file, and tried flashing that in recovery and nothing?
What version of CM7 are you running? If it's the last stable you may need to search for an older version of GAPPS, named gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip. This worked for one user in the CyanogenMod forums.
EDIT: Try going here, search for the Inc area, re-download the appropriate version.

Can anyone tell me how to use Cyanogens latest CM6 for the Evo? I have my phone rooted via unrevoked and I have rom manager. Do I just use rom manager with Cyanogens file he released? I have posted in the 135 page thread with no help so I figured this would be the best place. Also what about gapps?
I'd like to know as well. I have never put a custom Rom on a phone before and am waiting for Cyanogen's release before trying it out for the first time.
My EVO is rooted with Unrevoked 3 which uses ClockworkMod recovery. I have rom manager as well.
Any step by step instructions for us newbies would be great. I don't like bricks.
thanks
gapps is a basket of applications that the phone uses for basic google integration, including the market. you'll need it for accessing several things, including the market.
gapps = google apps
right now the only cm build is a nightly, which means it isn't perfect, and may not have all of the functionality you want.

Doesn't take much to read through the Dev. threads (most of the guides there consists of ROM flashing tutorials).
Regardless, nobody is going to answer your question if you posted in the CM6 thread since it is about the ROM...not about how to install it.
Anyways..dumbed down, drag/drop ROM into sd card root, "install rom from sd card" in rom manager, find rom, backup current rom if you want, clear/wipe cache/data, flash gapps (same way as rom).
I tried that but it gave me error 7 when I tried to do that. Then it asked me for update.zip. Gave some weird error then.

Are you fully rooted? I'm not aware if Unrevoked unlocks nandroid.
I dont know if it gives me full root. Probably not if im having that problem. How do I unlock nand?

Have fun.
Might be a easier way now, but you'll have to search if there is one.
Main Version Older! Error. Dunno what that is.
I saw Cyanogen's latest tweet about the RC2 for his CM6 rom and that it's available here, his site and in rom manager. The problem is when i go to rom manager all i see for cyanagen is the nightlies. Should there be a seperate listing for the RC2 in there, or is the nightly from the day he released RC2 what i need to download.
I did purchase rom manager and have deleted and reinstalled it. I've also been searching on and off for the last couple of days but haven't found what i'm looking for. I'm currently running fresh rom right now but wanted to check out the latest CM6 build.

Just download it and reboot into recovery and it will be in your download folder. Flash it and your done. Make sure you wipe if your coming from a different rom.

I know that i can flash it that way, and i will later tonight. I'm just trying to see why it doesn't show up in rom manager as RC2, or if it is even supposed to show that like that. I have yet to actually flash a rom in rom manager, i always put the files on my sd and just go to recovery and flash. I figured i'd try rom manger out for once.
hi guys i'm new to the whole custom rom thing, anyway i rooted my evo using the unrevoked method. then i flashed a rom i think it was fresh something i can't remember. i played around with it for a while then i flashed cyanogenmod 6 for evo (6.1.2 supersonic). the problem that i'm having is that i cannot access the android market cause the app icon is missing and i cannot find it anywhere...did i miss something...please help. thanks.
You need to install the google apps. The simplest way would be to download rom manager and flash the CM6 rom from the app. It gives you an option to download GAPPS (google apps) at the same time you are flashing CM6
ishrdz is right, go back to the thread where you found the cm6 rom and download and flash gapps
Hi,
Do you know how can I flash the google addon, gapps-mdpi-20100930-signed.zip to my slide.
I can flash the cm6 rom without any problem.
I got the following error when I try to flash my gapps-mdpi-20100930-signed.zip. I have try other gapps-mdpi version as well, all of them has the same error.
E:Error in /sdcard/gapps-mdpi-20100930-signed.zip (Status 2). If I can't flash this addon, I can't use cm6 or other customized roms....
Kind of a stupid question but have to ask, did you try just re-downloading it to make sure the one you have isn't corrupt?
It MIGHT make a difference but the one I used is...
"gapps-mdpi-20101020-signed"
I know you said you used others, but I don't know if that means you went backwards in time, or forward.
Didn't even notice that. OP, get the latest gapps here: http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/files/file/125-google-addon-mdpi-20101020/
thanks for all the replies. Unfortunately I did try from the 20101020 version backward to 20100930 version, and 20100816 version as well. None of them work, and I also have download those rom more than one time to make sure they're not corrupted.
I even try to unzip it and zip it again. Since I can flash the cm6 rom, so I blieve my reocvery can do the job right.
Any suggestions?
I guess it will be based on what that Status 2 means. Have you tried a full wipe and download the latest recovery, and then tried it all again?
The 20101020 gapps are outdated. You can flash the 20101213 gapps for the new market. Link is at the bottom.
But staying on topic, are you downloading from WiFi? Make sure it works. I cannot even BEGIN to describe my frustration in broken routers that always corrupt my data.
No dice? Could be a problem with Clockwork. Flash it again from ROM Manager, and see if that fixes something.
STILL not working? Do a Nandroid backup, wipe (so that your CM6 is gone) and get Cyanoginger. Its a pretty awesome looking ROM, and its got all the gapps baked in. (You*might* not have to wipe, but considering the fact that you can't flash the gapps, you may as well)

So thanks to CWMR 3.005 a lot of old zips don't work.
old_market.zip won't install.
New Market V2.2.11 won't install.
Vending_2_2_11.apk installs but FC's.
gapps-gb-20110120-signed.zip installs and FC's.
Why are you flashing different versions of the market? Why didn't you just flash the official Gapps from the CM7 nightly or CM7 RC1 threads?
Also, do you have the latest CWM3.0.0.5? The newest version that supports 2.2 and 2.3 that is flashed from ROM manager, not the one downloaded and installed manually. I've been flashing the stock launcher (.zip) for several builds now with this CWM Recovery.
Edit: looks like the Gapps page is down for a few. There are people posting dropbox links to it though.

Because the official Gapps installs but the market FC's, as said above.

As said above, yes.
What's CM7 build 1/2? You might try flashing a full rom not half of one
Just kidding, though I still don't what you're talking about in reference to build 1/2.
Anyway, do a wipe and reflash it twice in recovery to make sure everything sticks. Then just use the market to load gapps. I think the market is past 2.2.11 now but I'll check for you and post the .apk if you want. Lastly, I'd run a fix permissions if for some reason it still fc's on you, then reboot.

Well I just wanted to double check. There was the pre-stable release of CWM 3.0.0.5 that only supported 2.3 and maybe this was the one you had causing issues.
I'd just try to reflash with a clean Gapps install and see what you can do about it. Also try simply wiping your market cache with something like Titanium Backup if you have tried flashing around all these different markets.
