Could it be possible to install/run windows 7 on the HTC Desire Z?
No, never - thank God. Blasphemey!
Sent from a HTC G2
that only possible because that phone is running an intel atom processor. The desire z/g2 is running an ARMv7 processor which contains a completely different set of instructions.... Long story short it is possible to put linux on the phone but it is impossible to put windows7. On the other hand, microsoft mentioned that the next generation of windows will have ARM compatibility so while windows 7 will not work, windows 8(?) might be possible whenever it comes out.
If it really matters, you can always use an RDP app and link to a computer running win7 lol

I was digging over internet , may is a ported win xp image for ours Diamonds, but ... nothing. Maybe I was not so good to search ... and someone know?

I think there is no xp port for diamond(because the specs of the device itself)

see if you can get a virtual machine for the mobile processor architecture. then emulate an x86 processor and load XP in that.
i'll tell you though it wont be a full xp. and it will be slower than a slow thing.
There are currently no versions of Windows XP which run on the ARM processor, and as recently as 6 weeks ago Microsoft wouldn't comment on any plans to ever do one (see this article http://www.thestandard.com/news/2009/03/13/3-reasons-microsoft-shouldnt-port-windows-arm-processor).
Even if they did, RAM requirements and the amount of disk writes the OS naturally does would make the Diamond REALLY work to offer even a mediocre performance standard.
On the subject of emulation....seriously???? I promise you, you're talking about taking a pretty advanced instruction set (x86) and running it on the arm processor (comparatively a child). It's easy to emulate current ARM processing on your current x86 processor, but it doesn't go the other way. I think I have read that some people have done this on some more powerful test hardware before, but the start-up time alone on your phone will be measured in hours, not minutes. If you seriously think this is worth trying, it's theoretically possible today by loading an ARM-compiled version of linux onto the phone (I seem to remember reading a thread about this a while back) and running something like virtualbox to emulate windows. In 6 months, after the install onto the memory card is complete (remember, phone memory alone will certainly be too small), let me know if it starts.

Really??? Are you sure? It's not a joke or a fake? Soooo
The Diamond has a fast CPU: the Qualcomm MSM7201A running at 528MHz
Minimum hardware requirements for Windows Phone 7 :
The minimum requirements for the CPU are 1GHz ... AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!
Is Windows Phone 7 really for phones ?
Even if a port will be made for our Diamond, it will be very slow.

I am not sure about that.
They're saying that it works faster than 6.5
Also, Microsoft requires that 1 Ghz processor so they're sure that there won't be people saying: 'it's laggy'.
Also, in that way they're sure that their software is only running on hardware that's more than enough so they won't be blamed for a laggy OS.
any idea when it would be out in the market?
and that processor requirement is a real setback for me
First phones are planned for October so dont expect it any time soon.
hello all
i am wondering if windows mobile 7 will work on the win mobile based xperia x1.
ofcourse i know that the panels will not work, but thats not an issue..

Hi! I'm afraid the Xperia X1, or the Xperia X2... or any phone with less than a snapdragon processor has no chance of Windows Mobile 7 working on it. The hardware won't support it at all. The HD2 will also have trouble running it, but if anything, that's probably the only phone (HD2) out now that will come close to running 7.
that would be sweet if it could be done

thank u for ur answer , not the answer i was hoping for, but its understandable
i am looking at buying this phone and from what ive read it comes with windows 6.1 and you can upgrade it to 6.5, i wanted to know can it be ungraded to windows 7.
thank you
sut.
WinMo 6.5 is as far as it officially goes.
I SERIOUSLY doubt it'll ever get WP7, even unofficially. The HD2 is the only device to ever unofficially get WP7 (AFAIK), but that device has much better specs.
I have a rhodium bought it and when he came to win but the htc 6.1 released 6.5 to win it. I think it's the ideal but the win7 was looking to try because I have an android and would like to compare. I have not found any version of win7

You won't, for the TP2. Again, the HD2 is the ONLY WinMo device that'll run WP7. I seriously doubt any other device will get there - although there's a few other WinMo devices that might have the grunt to run it, the TP2 is not one of them. Look elsewhere.
Yes I know that HD is only left with 7 but I have a htc p4330 6.5 and got a win when the officer was only up to win5
Between win7mobile and win6.5 much more difference than win5 and 6.5. First of all in hardware specifications for win7 need multitouch screen.
Does WP7 actually need a multi-touch screen to even boot? How would it even know?
I guess the CPU architecture is more problematic then the touch screen.
Why would you like to run WP7 anyway? Even if we could somehow emulate the CPU - the system would be 10x slower then XdAndroid making the phone unusable.

Grass is always greener on the other side of the fence mate. Everyone wants what they can't have .
Microsoft anounced that windows 10 will support tablets including android tablets have it from an pcwelt video german
comlete feature list windows 10
http://www.pcwelt.de/ratgeber/Windo...Windows-10-Funktionen-Windows-10-9602942.html
you think it woud be posebile to install it in the tab s
dual boot woud be the best 1 android and 1 windows
As of right now not possible, but never say never!
No. Microsoft has ceased all development on the ARM version of windows, aka Windows RT. The new Windows 10 will only run on x86 hardware, which means you will need an android tablet with a Intel processor to install Windows 10. The Galaxy Tab S uses an ARM processor, hence it is not compatible.

This is not correct I am afraid. They made windows 10 running on Xiaomi MI4. The phone has Snapdragon 801 ARM proc. See the link below..

That's Windows Phone, which is different from Windows 10. I haven't heard anything about Microsoft merging Windows 10 and Windows Phone.

Wow are you retarded? (No offense ) Windows 10 is the same across all platforms and no that is not Windows Phone on Mi4 it is Windows 10 running on it. Windows 10 is also coming to Raspberry Pi 2 which is running an ARM Processor too. Microsoft want's to make a Windows 10 ROM to get more people on it. So yes it is possible to be running on the Tab S but I'm unsure about Samsung's Exynos.

According to PC msg we are both retards.
http://asia.pcmag.com/microsoft-sur...indows-rt-is-dead-but-microsoft-hasnt-learned
According to the article there are two versions of Windows 10. The first one is the normal desktop Windows, which is direct successor of the (/sarcasm) beloved Windows 8 (/endsarcasm). The second version is a mobile version that runs on both x86 and ARM, but presumably has a smaller footprint and optimised for touch screen control. In order words, it is Windows Phone in all but name.
Running x86 software on ARM isn't impossible, but incredible costly. The ARM processor would have to emulate the x86 hardware, and all hardware emulations are expensive (in terms of processing power and not money). Anyone who had ever used the android emulator that comes with the android development kit knows how painfully slow it is even on a i7 CPU. Trying to run a legacy Windows x86 software on a weaker ARM processor would be insane.

Where Where Where can I find a tutorial on installing windows 10 on my Tab S? I really want to be able to install netbeans because my freakin laptop got stolen and all I can use is AIDE right now.
Please Help!!!
Completely different platforms, it's not a pc.
If it can eventually be emulated on an android tablet I doubt it will be much use.

Guess you didn't read the entire thread...YOU CAN NOT INSTALL WIN 10 ON YOUR 10.5 Tab S
2 Biggest reasons why not:
You don't have the proper processor in the 10.5
You'll most likely never get any drivers for the hardware in it
