Boot into recovery wipe cache and wipe delvick. If its pops up after boot up just hit the back soft key.

Take out your mini SD card from your phone, put it into a SD adapter so you can put it in your computer, then, open the SD card and there should be a file in there named p32.img or something like that, delete this file, also, do the cache and dalvik wipe like mentioned in last post, should be good to go, also, after u done all that, go into rmks gingersense thread, toward the end of it, one of the later posts, he posted up a zip file of this update Verizon is trying to push you, download it and flash it, if you are running a stock style sense ROM. Hope this helped.

Oh yeah, are you even running 2.3 or are you still on 2.2 froyo, if on 2.2 download rmks gingersense 2.3 and flash it, and don't forget to flash the extra firmware to go with it found in the same post.

[Q] Why does my new phone hate me.. only boots into CWM please help me

Well I got a new replacement phone today and I was setting it up how my old one was. I rooted with no prob, installed forever with no problems. Then I went into ROM manager and downloaded the skyraider athena ROM and checked buttons for wipe data/cache and backup. I walked away for about 10 mins so it could do its thing, then it boots into recovery. I clicked REBOOT and it rebooted but went back into recovery again. it wont actually boot up all the way and only goes into CWM recovery. It is version 3.0.0.5 with orange text ( i used to have green,I think)
Please someone help me resolve this, I need my phone for navigation purposes like an hour ago. Please help! Thank you!

You will go back to a stock 2.2, from there try again. Next time you flash the rom, try downloading it from XDA here, put it on your sd card, boot into recovery, then flash. That might cut down on any errors you could possibly encounter.
Flash an older version of CWM, scroll to bottom of page in ROM Manager and pick say 2.0.5, but not v3

Yea you need a diff version of cwm 2505 actually then restore

WONT FLASH ANY ROM. annoying

So I have an incredible. FLAWLESS root and easy install for everything.
I just rooted a friends EVO, have root permission, and full root. I've tried both clock and supersonic recoveries. When i try to flash a rom VIA rom manager OR manually, i click it, hit yes and it writes one line and instantly goes back to the options. It seems as the phone just will not take ANY rom at all... what could be the problem??

Try re-downloading the ROM, you may have a bad download. Also, try flashing with Amon RA recovery.....it's never let me down. Make sure your battery is fully charged, too.
+1 for Amon Ra, though it looks like you've already tried it (that is what you mean by "supersonic", right?).
Try flashing the recovery manually. Download a PC36IMG.zip of Amon Ra and put it on the root of the SD card - don't rename it. Boot into the bootloader (hold the vol down + power buttons simultaneously until the phone boots into bootloader) and wait for it to scan. While you're there, double check that the phone is actually s-off & not s-on. When it asks you to update, choose yes. Say no to reboot, then choose recovery from the bootloader screen and try again.
Give me a minute & I'll post the file. I'm using the app atm.
It won't upload, so here's a link:
http://db.tt/rBcdNoW
Most devs post md5s with the download, I'd verify it matches.

nope, still getting the same problem. updated everything, flashed serveral pc35imgs and still i go to install zip from sd card and it starts but instantly stops and wont flash the rom.... what else to do....
Do you mind posting all of the info on the phone? Whatever it says in the "About Phone" menu & what it says in the bootloader. Maybe we can figure something out from there.
Also, from where are you downloading the roms? As someone else mentioned, check the md5s.
Oh, and what roms have you tried flashing... I'm just curious. This is going to bother me if I can't figure it out, lol.

The file should be named PC36IMG.zip, not PC35IMG. Also, it should be ran from the Bootloader, not recovery.

What's going wrong?
If you just want the stock rom, but still be rooted you can either a) restore from your nandroid backup, assuming you made one; or b) flash the stock rooted rom.
If you want to unroot, you need to flash the s-on zip in recovery, then run the RUU from your computer or flash a PC36IMG of the RUU through the bootloader.
I'll elaborate more when you tell me what you've done so far and what you're trying to achieve - stock rooted or unrooted.

Download the latest stock rom. Can be found at shipped-roms.com, or in the MANY stickies and threads here. Place the zip on your sd card, along with the s-on tool.
Reboot to recovery, flash s-on, then flash stock rom zip.

Go to here and flash any one of the listed roms. These are all of the roms that came shipped with the HTC EVO. I suggest you download the any of the ones with PC36IMG in the file name because they can be flashed.

Make sure that in your attempts to go back to stock, you didn't go s-on. Boot into the bootloader and see if it says s-on or s-off at the top. You can do this by holding the volume down button and power button simultaneously until the phone turns on (you must have the phone turned off first). You'll see a white screen with skating Androids.
If you're s-on, you'll need to run an RUU from your computer or flash a PC36IMG of the RUU through the bootloader in order to get back to stock.
If you're s-off (still rooted/nand unlocked) then you can flash the rooted stock rom that I'll link you to. Download the rom and put it on the root of your SD card (not in any folders). Boot into the bootloader using the directions I gave earlier. Then, using the volume buttons to navigate, highlight recovery and then press the power button to select it. Assuming you're using ClockworkMod Recovery, choose wipe cache, factory reset (it may say something else like wipe data, you should know which one though) and then go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache. After you've done all three of those, choose install zip from SD card. It's fastest to press the volume up button which will take you to the end of the list - all of your zips will be at the bottom. Highlight the file you just downloaded and press power. Choose yes from the list then let it run its course. When it finishes, select reboot and you will be back on stock.

Holy 4g i did what u said flashed the zip and it did its thing and still came back cyanogen 7. what am i doing wrong anyone pleaseeeee????
i took a whole day trying to figure out how to unroot mine, and i finally got it.
you have to download "unrevoked s-on" put it on your sd card and flash it.
then you have to know which radio your running, so you can know which pc36img to put on your sd card, so when you put it into bootloader it will find it, and run through the checking process, then it will let you apply the update and you will be unrooted.
which radio are you running, and i can help you find which pc36img you need to be using.

Did you go into recovery and wipe cache, data/factory reset beforehand? Check out Guide to Unrooting

need hepl bad

i have a rooted phone, i wanted to switch roms,
for some reason i pulled my sd card and formatted it (fat32)
and put zip for new rom on it and a cleaning tool
put it in phone and went to h boot and wipped phone and flashed rom, NO go.
then put pc36img zip on sd card and su.23.6.3 ECT zip file.
then in h boot flashed the su file still wont boot at all.
i think i screwed up deleting all files off my memory card.
phone only goes to h boot how do i fix it ?
yea i'm a noob.
when i try to flash pc36img i get E can't find update script.
Try going into the development section and downloading caulkins combo pc36img file. Place it on the root of your SD card, and restart your Evo. Make sure to delete the file you have on there first so you know which is what. You are trying to update your radios correct? Of your trying to flash a ROM, select recovery from the menu, go to choose zip from SD card, and flash away. Make sure to do a complete wipe if its a fresh install. Wipe user data, cache and dalvik. Depending on your recovery version, falcon cache might be in the advanced folder. Good luck and enjoy. Lemme know if everything works for ya.
thanks for replying,
i did exactly what you said and when i chose reboot after flashing that file the phone just went black
and it won't power back on
Don't reboot the phone after flashing the zip. To get back into the bootloader hold the volume down button while pressing power. Flash the zip & when it asks to reboot press volume down for no. From there select recovery. You may have to select bootloader again. If you do go ahead and do it but don't update again. Instead wait a sec then boot into recovery. From there you should be able to flash. You may have to download a pc36img w a recovery attached to it if you deleted everything, but Im not sure. Try the first way. If that doesn't work, flash the recovery as the zip, download a stock rooted rom via USB mount and update your radios that way. Then go to the market and get rom manager. You can flash rom's from the app
Using clockwork mod. Keep digging thru the threads if all else fails. Lemme know what happens and ill try and find the zips you need to at least get it going. Don't let this discourage you tho. Where's a will, there's always a way to fix it. Ya just gotta keep reading. The guys on this site are awesome. They've covered pretty much every scenario you could think of.

i did everything you stated to a T
and after flashing rom, when i reboot phone boots right back to H boot
went through everything again and went back to warm 2.2 rom and now it's working.
a big thanks to you guys for helping me get my phone going again
It could have just been a bad download. Next time you download a rom, see if you can check the md5 to make sure its a complete file.I'm not sure if I helped at all, but I'm sure glad you got it goin. Happy flashing.
i believe it was a bad file cus it was only half the size of normal roms.

[Q] Really need help....phone will not boot

Ok....search and cant figure it out....Been working on this for two days now......Wife has a g2 and I had to downgrade to root....I did that and everything seemed fine....I then Rooted phone and everything there seemed to be fine....I tgen wanted to download Virtuous Affinity rom but it said I had to DZ hboot...here is where i messed up.......I had made a backup of the stock rom yesterday so I put the PC10img on the root of sd card..rebooted into hboot and ran update by pressing volume up....after everything was done I went back into recovery and went to reload back-up of rom and all clockwork does is show reboot system ,apply update etc and down at bottom says E: cant mount/ cache/recovery/ command........etc

You probaby flashed the wrong pc10img file...check the md5 sum against that oof the file...another thing is you can try a higher recovery becuasue I remember when u flash a hboot it replaces the recovery...try flashing the latest version of clockwork via adb...if not that refer to the devs

Did you use the power button to try reload the rom from recovery? Cause that might be your problem.
Use the trackpad or camera button in recovery.

I believe those errors are "normal" after switching hboots... were you following this guide here: http://www.virtuousrom.com/2011/06/t-mobile-g2-users-migrating-to-desirez.html?
If you haven't read it, it might help...

I understand the errors down at bottom is normal....but the day before I backed up rom so I didnt do that when it came to that in the directions......so now when I try to do anything in clockwork everything is there but when I try say restore rom or install from sd....once you click on it it stops......and phone will not load because there isnt a rom installed anymore
Maybe you could try flashing a different recovery image to your phone via fastboot. Perhaps try flashing 4EXT Recovery by madmaxx82. Then reboot into recovery via fastboot and see if it'll let you restore or flash a ROM. Just a thought...
