So I've been experiencing an odd issue intermittently. I'll be using my phone normally, and out of the blue, the touchscreen input gets flipped along the vertical centre axis in portrait mode. this flip remains when i change the phone to landscape mode (the issue itself doesn't flip). It's an odd phenomenon that disappears once I reboot, but I thought I'd record and upload for all your curiosities' sakes.

I've got the same problem but it doesn't go away when I reboot...
Can anyone help?!
Experienced the same issue. Rebooted and it was fine. Unnerving to say the least.
Have you tried a factory reset? And/or reflashing ROM
Sent from my Desire Z using xda app-developers app
I've tried rebooting, tried resetting to factory settings and now I will attempt to reflash the ROM.
From the power of google it appears that this is an issue with a lot of tablets and that it's a driver issue. Mine happened only after I replaced a faulty lcd so that would make sense. I'm still not confident on how to fix it though!
Doubt that reflashing is going to help, then. If you can get the device to run a recalibrate you may be in business.
Installing a nandroid on my WinMo TP2 there was a calibrate app in the ROM that ran in the command line before the GUI loaded up. Hopefully you can find something like that.

it was not the nand version but the version that loads from WinMO with Haret. Maybe you can look at one of these files and extract the calibrate code or find out where it came from.

Thanks Igor - that's the most constructive answer I've found to the problem.
Having said that, I'm not sure I possess the neccessary skills to extract the calibrate code and secondly I still hold out hope that it's a driver issue. The reason I say that is because the old lcd was working fine in so much as left and right worked ok (just the display and colours that were ruined) and the problem only started when the new screen went in!
But I guess that still leaves me needing to extract lcd driver files.......

...been googling the issue and it seems that you can get Android to force a recalibrate. IF you're rooted and handy with adb or terminal emulator.
...now that might not fix your issue BUT it might.

So I'll try it!

Make sure that you use the gfree method from the wiki page for rooting. And read n re-read before you do it for a flawless and easy root.

Hi, I am a noob and wondering what is the solution to this problem?
After installing the TeamBURST ROM on my andoird the screen is working fine in the bottom half but the upper half has the y-axis flipped.
Appreciate any inputs that point me in the right direction (I just started rooting and flashing yesterday so fairly know but I do know coding).

The newer Incredibles have an SLCD screen, the originals have AMOLED screens. From what I understand, they use different display/touch drivers. Not really a "bug" but I'm sure it bugs a lot of people... Did you just recently get it?

Search is your friend. You have a SLCD screen. Since your phone has different hardware, it requires compatible software.

PM'd cause i cant post links cause im still a noob
If you haven't fixed it yet you can search in the Q&A section for black screen and get instructions for a complete restore to the day you got it. The SLCD thing got me too.

a friend of mine has an EVO 4G, hardware 004, it has been working fine until a few weeks ago when his camera showed a BLACK screen when you clicked on the camera app. he was rooted running SPRINT LOVERS 2.2 rom. Well, we couldnt get the camera working so we did a hard reset and flashed MIKROM 3.0... camera was now working great..... TODAY. the camera is showing a black screen again. you dont even get any of the buttons in the camera app but you can press the home screen to get out (no force quit or anything).
any ideas how to fix this without another hard reset?
The best advice is to try another rom, specifically a stock sprint rom. If it still doesn't work, or works sporadically, its likely a hardware problem with the camera itself.
It sounds like a hardware issue to me I had the same problem an had to get it replaced.don't quote me these guys ate pretty smart but I couldn't get mine fixed

Sounds like the camera hardware maybe staring to fail or has become loose from the board next time it goes black try pressing the lens down and see if it tries to work that would indicate loose connection, otherwise the sensor may be failing

Sounds like the camera sensor is loose on the board, may need to take it on for repair, or if your techsavvy try opening it up and repair it yourself

It fixes permissions for a lot of things like apps folders etc your android phone is a linux based system so in order for things to execute they need to have the correct permissions. For instance something with 777 permissions means it has full read write and execute permission for the owner, group and other here is a calculator for linux permissions just to show you what the different permissions are.

The permissions can sometimes change meaning the app or folder or whatever isn't able to execute because it doesn't have permission to fixing permissions is just supposed to fix that so your things can execute correctly hope this helps

Really 3 posts to answer the same question with 3 of the same answer when we already found the cause of the issue
Funny cause ive been combing the net trying to find a working fix. I've been having the same issue for weeks. Once did the "fix permissions" and it worked. Another time i re-flashed the same ROM then a different ROM and they both worked.
IDK what it is but everytime it works bout an 1/2 hour to 1 hour later its back to the black screen again. I'm stuck guys. I even had a friend of mine extract his HTCcamera.apk from his phone & load it on mine...guess what...worked!!! Hour later.....same crap
Comeon guys lets put our heads together and figure this out!!!
Hi, Im currently on the stock JB with a CID 001. My problem is that once I flash a rom none of my sensors work, after a few times holding the power button for a reboot they will start to work again. Im able to calibrate the G sensor in settings while they work but if I turn off my phone they will stop working.
This started happening after I updated to JB, I have tried using ARHD and Maximus with no difference. Each time I flash a rom they work but after they phone turns off they stop working, not just a few its all of them.
Any suiggestions please?
Just in the middle of updating my hboot to 1.39 so hopefully this helps
EDIT: after re flashing with maXimus 11 and hboot 1.39 the sensors didn't work. I restarted the phone holding the power button but that didn't help, done it again only holding the up button when the htc screen appearing when rebooting.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Also im going to install the two OTA updates here and see if the sensors will still work after these.
Installed the first update and the sensors stopped working and then installed the second and they started working again. I think once I turn off the phone I won't be able to get them to work again. Sorry about all the posts but I'm trying to give as much information as possible.

I lost my gyro/compass/orientation at one point a few months ago... I tried several full wipes and different ROMs, nothing changed. However, what did fix 'em was when I relocked and flashed a stock O2 RUU to return it via my operator. Its been fine since.
So your saying the only thing to do is to send the phone back to O2 for a replacement? I opened my phone so I take it that's my warranty void anyways? But suppose I could always try. Thanks, also just compared my loud speaker to my brother phone and mine is awful compared to his

If flashing an actual o2 RUU didn't work (I was a bit confused by your previous posts as you can't flash an unbranded RUU on a branded handset...) If that didn't work then its a hardware fault. Or at least a software fault that can't be fixed without the software they use in an hTC service centre.
My phone isn't branded but I got it of O2. I might just re lock it and send it back as I don't seem to be getting anywhere with this. Thanks for all your help but.

I may be wrong, but I think the tablet may be the same as the Prestigio multipad 5880d. I don't know enough about flashing to be able to tell if the firmware here (prestigio.cz/products/personal-computers/Tablet_PC/MultiPad_8.0_ULTRA_DUO) will work or not. Anybody tried the Google now packages you can flash?
Hey, I just got a Cobalt. I've rooted and used this guide http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/30620-fixed-google-play-issues-missing-apps/ and I've managed to get a lot more apps like Twitter and instagram to install from the Play store but there are still a lot of apps I can't install like GTA3. I imagine this is because the Play store thinks my tablet is another tablet but still not a tablet that can support GTA3? Ideally I want it to think I have a Nexus 7 or something that everything will run on!
Also when I go to the Play store on my PC I expected to see another device since I thought that's how I'd tricked the store into letting me download these apps? But there's just the same devices as before.
Can anyone make sense of what's going on? How can I get my device to accept almost all the apps from the Play store?
could any one maje a video of this tablet???

It works brilliantly, thank you
Glad to be able to help.
Well I've received my tab today. First impressions really positive.
I've found an issue with my cwm recovery in that it does not format the internal sdcard. As this cannot be done from the tablet itself I think at present it would be best to set the tab up with standard recovery and then later on flash my cam and kernel.
One thing I have noticed is how picky the touch screen is. I got one for my daughter, who is 6 and uses all my other devices no problem. When using the archos however, it has difficulty picking up her strokes where it has very little trouble picking up mine. I'm guessing it's down to surface area.
Also this unit displays an old archos problem of the internal components pushing against the screen.
Anyone else experiencing similar issues, or know of any fixes. Otherwise a sound tablet for the price paid.

It only charges via the power lead not usb which is strange as the power lead is 5V too.
Wiggle the lead about in the socket as a 3rd party usb power lead I've bought needs that to make proper contact to then charge.
