Timestamp Issue..perhaps the network. - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm roaming 100% of the time since I moved, and there seems to be 2 different time stamps when I send/receive texts. Though I sucessfully can send/receive texts immediately. I've checked the Time-Zone and it is up to date to where I live now. (Stock App) and I've tried handcent, timestamp stays same as stock.
Example:
Me:Hey Dad, what's up?
7:15am, July 27
Dad:Busy working
9:15am, July 27
My phone is from Texas, so perhaps the roaming network is the cause? If so I guess there's no hope other than to rely on Handcent to un-stack the mountain of text message I get stacked and not threaded?

I'm not sure what causes it, but sms time fix on the market should fix your problem.

Roaming is the cause of this. Do as suggested and use Handcent or GO SMS to order texts as they appear and correct timestamps automatically.

The timestamp fix did it. Buuut! I like handcent now. LOL. >.<

Its an issue with sprint. There's a thread about it in General section. Apparently its not isolated to a certain area.

Google Voice problems

Am I alone on this? Since yesterday I was receiving all my text to the messaging app instead of google voice, I checked the setting I still was on GV all texts and just now a message from GV pop up saying how to make the calls, and the only option given was Do not make calls from GV. Now I tried to send a text from GV and it doesn't give me the bottom rectangle to type.
Anyone?

i use gv to text all day long at work, and haven't had any issues with it lately. so it's gotta be a setting on your account that's causing issues. have you logged into the website and checked your settings there? sometimes the app doesn't always make the changes.
Thanks for the reply, I had to basically install it again and its working just fine now.

[Q] Messaging lag?

It seems whenever I try to send 3 messages in a row in the stock messaging app it freezes and lags a bunch. I also can't receive more than 3 messages at once either...anyone else experiencing lag issues? This also happens in every other app but messaging is the worst

How many messages do you have stored? If you're having problems in every app then it sounds like either something's corrupted in the system, or you have an app causing problems eating up memory or other resources.
Unless you have good reason to believe that the problems with sms are unrelated from your other issues, you should give more info on more apps, on what else happens, when it happens, what triggers it, what you've tried to do to fix so far, etc.
Also helps to know if your rooted, what rom/build your using, kernel, etc.

Ohhh......I have like 10,000 messages stored....maybe that's the issue. Lol deleting them might help. Also I'm not rooted, and never have been. But thanks!

I mean like typing and sending and typing and sending three different texts somewhat fast. Sorry if that doesnt make sense but the messaging app is just super laggy all the time and it's probably the 10,000 messages I have stored

Back em up and wipe em out is the first thing id try. You can always restore if need be.

I was using go SMS pro but I just uninstalled it since it won't let me send MMS without uploading to the cloud... the stock app will barely even open. FML.

Well I've had the phone since the end of August so it's over 2 months worth. Actual number is 14,567.
I don't think I send that many in a year!

Messaging app on stock problems

Does anyone else have issues writing text that are longer than one sms long? If so, is there a fix. This app has had the same issues on each update.
Another problem is when I go to compose a new text and I am typing the person's name in the contacts box it won't show the phone number I am trying to send a message to. It happens when I text my wife. I will type her name and it will show every other phone number she has but her cell phone. Can't seem to figure it out. I went into the contacts app and set her cell as the preferred number and that didn't fix it. I don't think that issue can easily be recreated.
So those are the two issues. Also, are those issues on the custom roms? I would imagine they are at no fault to the devs.

I am a noob but wanted to try and duplicate your issues on my phone.
I am flashed stock ZVB. I use GOSMS but tested the stock messaging app for your questions. I sent 2 text messages that were over the character limit. One sent correctly (1 of 2 and 2 of 2) the other only sent the second half of the second message (2/2).
I did not notice any issues with contact names.
Hope this helps.

SMS block app that stops messages frm sender

Any known way to block sms txts natively from this device or an app that return messages the sender letting them know there SMS has been blocked or they're message didnt go through to you .
Something that Not just lets them send it
But shows some proof to them the mesages they text are being blocked that theyre sending ?

On the messaging app (stock app) if you go to setting and scroll all the way down there is a "spam" setting, you put in the number you don't want showing up and bam! Works fine for me
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Mr.Number does that and calls too, free from PlayStore.
Nothing better than root call blocker pro imho. Been using forever, never an issue across 4 phones. Pay for it and support the dev you will not be disappointed.
