Any known way to block sms txts natively from this device or an app that return messages the sender letting them know there SMS has been blocked or they're message didnt go through to you .
Something that Not just lets them send it
But shows some proof to them the mesages they text are being blocked that theyre sending ?

On the messaging app (stock app) if you go to setting and scroll all the way down there is a "spam" setting, you put in the number you don't want showing up and bam! Works fine for me

Mr.Number does that and calls too, free from PlayStore.
Nothing better than root call blocker pro imho. Been using forever, never an issue across 4 phones. Pay for it and support the dev you will not be disappointed.

Looking for an sms app that can report back to me when a message i sent has been read by the receiver. Need this for work been looking all day and havent found it.
Handcent says its does this but everyone giving feedback on that app are saying horrible things about missing text/not receiving text. I installed this and tried it sending about 30 text and 2 werent received until like 10 minutes later
Gosms - not sure if it does have this capability looked at the details of what this app does and didnt mentioned it did.
smspop up- doesnt do it just gives a delivery report. Which is understandable since this is just to make your sms pop up.
theres another one cant remember the name of it but the recipient has to have the app installed as well and has to be sent from that app.
Anyway to make the stock app do this?
**Mod's Delete if you want or merge but i searched over and over on this site and other sites and did not find the answer. Posted on here instead of general android app because this is the phone i use so im always looking at this thread.
Just use Kik messenger and get all your friends to join. It is live messaging and shows when messages are read. Just a thought, not exactly what you wanted as it doesn't work for SMS. A cool thing is it also tells you if they are typing.
Not sure if Handcent does that or not.

the thing is i need that feature for the text i send to coworkers.
i use chomp sms and it has read notifications fully integrated and working

It won't work with normal texts. Kik/all those other apps are able to show when messages are read because they're internet-based.
Only certain carriers allow it. Not sprint .

gonna take a look at that app. does it have issues with not receiving or taking too long to receive a text.
Edit: looked at the feedback and many complaining about not receiving text and many not being able to send messages but I guess ymmv

Is there a blacklist app that can work low level on blocking calls and sms?
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Blacklist is ok, if your rooted root call blocker is great
Sent from my PG06100 using xda premium
The problem with blacklist is that it does not erase the call log. Do you think this problem will be solved if my phone is rooted?
Thanks
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Yea blacklist is "ok" root call blocker i believe has a setting to not log calls or sms. And blacklist usually rings like half a ring last time i used it, but it been a while. If your rooted go with root call blocker, the free one works great
Sent from my PG06100 using xda premium
Root call blocker is the best and it erases logs
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium HD app
avast antivirus has one built in
I'm using Call Guard. It has black and white list + option to delete call log and can also block SMS.
However it cannot erase the call log even if i set it.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
u can try private SMS or shady SMS. Both blocks SMS n calls. N move them out from the normal SMS n call Logs.

Just root your device, install RootCallBlocker and search no further...
isn't the word 'Blacklist' banned cuz it sounds racist

not funny.
By the way why don't you just use the block caller option when you veiw contact details that comes built in?
I've had my number enabled with Google Voice for a while now.
Ive recently noticed an issue where the SMS app on my phone, whether it be stock, handcent, chomp, etc, will not receive the texts, but the GV app will. I go into settings in GV, and choose Messaging app to receive texts. It will work correctly for a bit until I start texting from my tablet which will then force my phone to receive texts through the GV app again.
This never happened before and was able to text on my phone via a messaging app and text from my tablet via GV.
Anyone have any clues as to what can be causing this?

Anyone?

Maybe go to the themes and apps section to ask this.

I'm not having any issue, but whenever I've had problems with Google Voice in the past, I clear data for the app and then go on the web and disconnect everything there. Then, I go through and set it back up on the phone.
I'm curious to know why there are text messaging apps to replace the stock text messaging app but not phone, the closest I've found are apps that end up placing the call for you in the stock app...

Because with free email services texting phones has always been free since all phones have an email address. But voip (calling over Internet) has always been a pay to use service. The only free ones would be Skype and similar but those are only free to other computers not phones.

I've heard about something called Groove IP for VOIP. Never tried it though.
I have the latest available version of hangouts and it has been said we can start using the SMS integration. I don't see that option anywhere in the app.

Same happened to me, the Play store is still pushing out v.1. Check your version #, 2.0 and above has SMS.
You can download the newest version of hangouts released yesterday here

I'm sticking with Sammy's SMS for now
I like Hangout for Video, and such but for SMS it to me gets mixed up with all the other hangout stuff and I would rather have it separate. For me, I use SMS/MMS WAY more then Hangout, and it's just cleaner to keep it in it's own app. I did try it, worked fine and all. Just like SMS/MMS to be stand along.

I'm the opposite. I use SMS as an alert and rarely use it with other people. I use hangout text all the time. Don't do video much. I'd keep the SMS out of hangout as I prefer it separate.
Is the mms sending on this or does it still hang when sending?

MMS works between google+ accounts, but not between mobile numbers - Hangouts will force-close whenever I attach a photo to a message going to a phone # (as opposed to a hangout contact).
I got mine to work but I noticed when wifi calling dont work but works when on 4g I also downloaded one inverted from darkhorse is the one im using

Seems like if you are in a group message to people on their phones numbers then the messages will go as MMS instead of SMS, When i am connected to WIFI mms does not work hence i have to choose WIFI or group message and i hate it
