Am I alone on this? Since yesterday I was receiving all my text to the messaging app instead of google voice, I checked the setting I still was on GV all texts and just now a message from GV pop up saying how to make the calls, and the only option given was Do not make calls from GV. Now I tried to send a text from GV and it doesn't give me the bottom rectangle to type.
Anyone?

Help!

i use gv to text all day long at work, and haven't had any issues with it lately. so it's gotta be a setting on your account that's causing issues. have you logged into the website and checked your settings there? sometimes the app doesn't always make the changes.
Thanks for the reply, I had to basically install it again and its working just fine now.

Looking for a sms/mms messaging app that uses my data plan instead of my text plan. Search with no luck. Anyone got anything......
That would just be email right?
Otherwise, SMS is always going to come in/send out via your text plan
I guess that would fall into email. Guess I'm looking for more of a chat based app. comes down to i would like to send and recieve messages with out a number trace.

Kik messenger... similar to BBM....
The problem with most apps that say they are SMS replacements that use your data plan is that they are actually some type of IM program which would require the person you are trying to reach be using it as well.
I'd recommend Google Voice as it would be using the data plan on your end, but be sending a true SMS so the recipient sees it as an SMS. If they want to pay for a text messaging plan, that's their choice.
Certain IM clients like Yahoo IM can send SMS messages, but I don't think it's as clean, it's just easier for the recipient when they see a SMS coming from an actual phone number.
In any case, you'd end up having problems if you like to send pics via MMS. Google Voice does not support MMS (people have been requesting it for a while, I only hope it's on their roadmap).
Did'nt Go sms have this as a paid option?
Get Textfree...when u make account, it gives you number that shows up when u text somebody, and it uses data...I used it a lot on my ipod touch, not so much on my dinc, but still does the job

Live profile. It is supposed to work like blackberry messenger but you can use it cross platform (android, iPhone, BB). Downside is that tonuse it, both you and the person you are trying to reach need to have it installed.

I have the same annoying problem..I read that if you call and leave a message on that voicemail it will go away if you delete the message you just left. My problem is that I use Google Voice for my voicemail. I cant figure out how to stop using GV! Even if i uninstall the app , it leaves the message in my google mail box. I have looked for answers but nothing...Unbelievable ! Good luck, I hope you dont have google voice.....

check your vm provider in call settings. also, if you enabled google voicemail on your number, it probably needs to be disabled in your voice account.

Did you check your sent, outgoing box? I don't think Google Voice is updated to work with Jelly Bean yet. At least the voice part of it...

Same here, reported it to google a little while ago, only seems to affect GV, the normal messaging app works just fine
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=34175
also, typing 'send text to <contact>' into the search box then selecting GV does send the message, it's just the speaking the command part that doesn't seem to work.
Justin
Well I wish I had seen your post before I hard reset but at least now I know it won't fix it. Thanks for your help hope it gets fixed soon

Hey guys, I also have another issue with Google Now Voice Search. When I ask for weather forecast, it always returns result for Washington DC although my current location is Dallas, TX. The weather card in Google Now main screen displays the correct location, though. Anyone has the same problem?
P/s: I managed to get OTA update to JB 4.1.1 by doing the clear framework trick and restarting my phone several times, does that have anything to do with the above issue? Thanks!!!
is google doing anything to solve this problem ??
I haven't seen any updates to google voice app lately
I've had my number enabled with Google Voice for a while now.
Ive recently noticed an issue where the SMS app on my phone, whether it be stock, handcent, chomp, etc, will not receive the texts, but the GV app will. I go into settings in GV, and choose Messaging app to receive texts. It will work correctly for a bit until I start texting from my tablet which will then force my phone to receive texts through the GV app again.
This never happened before and was able to text on my phone via a messaging app and text from my tablet via GV.
Anyone have any clues as to what can be causing this?

I'm not having any issue, but whenever I've had problems with Google Voice in the past, I clear data for the app and then go on the web and disconnect everything there. Then, I go through and set it back up on the phone.
So my wife came home yesterday yelling at me for ignoring her. Come to find out my phone was not receiving incoming calls. I could not figure out what the problem was. After trying a few different rooms and still not working I narrowed it down to Google voice. After un linking my number I was able to receive calls again. Anyway this? It just started happening a few days ago. I think.

I'm having this issue too. It has something to do with the Sprint-integration of Google Voice. You can undo the Sprint-integration and still use Voice. You just won't be able to send and receive text messages from Voice.
The thing is I have always used Google voice with Sprint and never had a isuue until recently.
