I had nothing to do with creating this. Just thought you guys would want to know that the lastest Wifi tether has been uploaded and it's supports Infrasructure Mode on 2.2 ROMs (Including CM6)
Major props to Harald Mueller for this! Don't hesitate to donate for all this guy's hard work!

Yep the app starts the sprint tether I think.
What did you hit to make it reboot? It did reboot once when I turned the tether off but I don't know if it's done that consistently.

Oh, haha, I don't think you have to mess with that. The app starts that up all by itself. Should just see the button turn yellow and it'll be on.

ya, thats cool tho that it brings it up, tho i wish it didnt need to stay in my notification panel, with the wireless tether as well.
it worked great and i feel like its way faster too.

Yeah, I don't think there is any way of getting around that. Small price to pay for some awesome Froyo tether
It's definitely just as fast or faster than mobile AP was.
do we still require a kernel that supports this? or has anyone gotten it to actually work. i know its an experimental build, but it didnt work for me. my lappy could see it, which is good because it cant even see ad hoc, but it failed connecting.
edit: hmmm, ya i see now its working for you. i still have old wifi tether installed, maybe thats it?
ok last time i mess with that, For heads up dont mess with any of the sprint stuff, it makes your phone reboot then makes it pop up an error when trying to connect, if you do just clear the app data and start over and it seems to work now

I've tested it on stock DK28, ViperROM 4.0.2c and CM6 Beta0 All of them worked just fine,

Worked perfectly to me and connected to my ipod touch no problem first try, and i had the old one installed, and then i uninstalled and still work,
Just a note dont mess with the sprint hotspot that pops up with it, it will just **** it up and you will have to clear data on the app or uninstall and reinstall again.

No. The app "talks" directly to the kernel. There is "something" implemented in the framework which detects that necessary kernel-setup-steps were performed.
It's not using the official hotspot-app/feature at all - only kernel-stuff (that's why it even works on CM6).

Hey thats cool, and it is faster then mobile ap, i just was streaming netflix on my ipod touch with this and it loaded at least 2-3 times faster.
Probaly faster considering this is the sprint hotspot its activating. too bad i can't use all those sprint settings lol, oh well as long as its fast works on 4g and infrastructure. YAY

Should be able to set all of the same settings in the tether APP
So this is the same as MobileAP(works on ps3)?
Is there any advantage MobileAp have over this?

Well i guess if i could unistall the sprint hotspot some how i could, avoid that, the only reason it pops up is because this app uses the official sprint hotspot stuff, as seen in the mobile ap thread, someone bought the subscription and helped this guy make this work.

Besides looking prettier and no sprint hotspot popping up with this, no this is better!!! and faster then mobile ap.
is it possibile to get rid of sprints hotspot or is it always there besides cm6?

You could try ... but I think that notivication is triggered by the "system-framework" and not by the hotspot-app. The key were some dmesg-dumps to see which parameters are passed to kernel. Since I know the bcm4329-driver a little bit it was not that hard ... but it took some time and around 70 mails to/from "formula84" (the guy who was very helpful with testing/logs).

[Q] Is there a FREE way to turn off radio only?

I want to be able to turn off the Radio only so that when I'm Wire-Tethered to my PC and playing a game I don't get any calls or texts to slow down my connection or be disturbed.
I found a thread in general where someone advised using tasker but it's $6 and I just want to be able to disable radio only. Airplane mode kills everything.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
There has to be a way...
There might be a way to do it via dial pad commands. I know that I was able to do this on a Droid in the past. I'm looking into, but make no promises.
edit:
Ok, this is what I've come up with.
*#INFO*1111# - Testing mode
Go into Phone Info...
Scroll down to Set preferred network type:
CDMA only
This should make it so the only cellular connection would be a data connection.
For my phone WCDMA Preferred is the default, which should be what you want to go back to to allow phone calls again.
Let me know if that works for you?
There's an app I used when I was on Eclair called Widgetsoid. It was the ability to toggle pretty much anything u can think of on your phone. I havent installed it since upgrading to Froyo so I can't verify that it can do what you need but its free and probably worth the download in any case. Check it out and let me know.

No it doesn't but I tried it anyway and found that no, it really doesn't. Thanks for trying though. I'm having a brainfart on typing letters into the dialer... how is that done again?

Just goto the phone dialer and type in those exact *,# and numbers (info is 4636)
once you put in the last # it will take you to the "testing" menu.
Let me know how it goes.
OK, I see it... will let you know how it works... Also, aren't our phones supposed to be set to CDMA? It had unknown and now it shows WCDMA. Isn't this the cause of the TWS bug?

It is the cause of the TWS bug. Our phones are constantly searching for a gsm signal never to be found. Causing battery drain. It has to do with the Galaxy S i9000 being gsm and samsungs poor ability to make changes to the coding.
Sent from my always stock, froyo Epic
This actually assisted in correcting or at least varifying another problem's solution. I've seen forum discussions point to PRL updates solving the TWS issue but other say it doesn't. However I installed sprintzone and let it install the PRL for my area. In doing so it set the default radio search shown using steve's info trick shown above. And no more TWS after reboots.
Woohoo!

Wi-Fi only when home network is available

Is there a way to setup the phone so it will only use your home wifi when it is available? I don't want to manually have to change this all the time. I want it to use my home network when it can connect to it. If it can't then use 4g. Anyone?

In cyanogen there are profiles you can set.
But if you're stock there are third party apps that you can use. I believe they even track your location to know if you're home or not.
Or just leave WiFi on all the time and it will connect when in range. But might kill your battery quicker since it will be scanning constantly

Thanks for your response. How do you give someone a thank you or whatever its called? Someone flipped me **** because I hadnt given any. I dont know how.
I use LLama ---> https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5rZWJhYi5MbGFtYSJd
My wife uses [email protected] ---> https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5hZWJlaW5yb3RoLndpZmlob21lIl0.
They both work. LLama does so much more than what you desire and [email protected] only does what you want.

Click the thanks button on the left side under the name and post count. If you're on the xda app just click the post.
I'm pretty sure the phone will only connect to a network when you tell it to so you can just leave wifi on. From my experience wifi didn't really use that much more power. It'll just connect automatically within range.
Additionally, there's ways to change the scan interval times so it doesn't check constantly.
If you wanna impress some folks buy some Nfc tags and set them up.

[Q] can't find sprint hotspot app??

I'm really not a noob, but for the life of me, I can't find the sprint hotspot app on my phone. I've never used it before, but signed up for the wifi hotspot feature. Saw in settings wireless how to activate sharing via usb or bluetooth, but for the life of me, I can't find this app to share data over wifi. Am I missing something?

Just a suggestion but if you root your phone which is not very difficult you can get wifi hotspot for free. I dont understand why we should pay for something that already comes with our phones.
I know I can, but I've rooted previous phones--HTC Hero and the Samsung Epic 4G. I had many issues with the Epic 4G after root that I didn't have before rooting. I like to play with the phones, but I don't like things going wrong. I don't have as much time to tinker with them to get them to work right. I could spend a whole weekend doing nothing but root and reflash different roms. Was fun, but a time suck!

So remember dont close it .. uninst. and install again .. u might set it startup after reboot or power off..

You didn't read OP post carefully don't you? He said that on WiFi is OK, so those steps you are describing will affect WiFi also.
I had the same problem on previous ROMS before 122 and was not affecting whatsup only but emails and any data. As long you are connected on WiFi he pulls emails and messages without problem. At the moment he goes to deep sleep and turns off WiFi but you are in the range of the WiFi network he doesn't pull the messages.
From B122 that bug is gone.
I hope now you see what is the problem.

You again!? Seems you need to realise how whatsapp works. You can quite happily close it down when the phone reports it as power-intensive. Whatsapp uses GCM so doesn't need to run all the time.
We kind of assume that the OP has 'Always on data' enabled....
Just because you don't have the same issue as the OP, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. My P6 was slightly buggy with the data connection for a while. Now it seems fine SINCE I MOVED TO B122 (thought I'd try the caps-lock method that you prefer). geddit?

Jees, you ARE weird.... So updating to a newer version of firmware won't help fix bugs? Strange. What do you think bugs are? Have you heard of the phrase 'bug fix'....? It's generally used to describe a patch, update, or release of SOFTWARE that addresses BUGS and RFC's.
I see you're on B122 - why did you bother.

Your first non-abusive, non-sarcastic post.....! Which network provider are you with? Does your data connection also drop whilst set to 2G only, or auto 2G/3G...? I had this issue once, data showed as H+ but nothing worked. The ONLY thing that solved it was removing the sim & putting it back in. Simple, but it's never done it since.
Do you use the power-saving mode? If so, set it to 'Normal' ...
Do you have 'avoid poor connections' set in advanced wifi settings? If so, disable.
What about ' optimise battery' in advanced wifi.....?
Does your wifi drop on any wifi AP or a specific one?
Is your P6 the international version or the china one?

You say you don't have 2G..? Do you have the option to 'Use only 2G networks' under network settings? 3UK has 2G (GSM) otherwise if you don't have a good 3G signal, what does your data connection revert to? It won't just turn off, it must revert to EDGE/GSM network....
