Any reason why Wi-Fi is very slowwwww on my Touch Diamond! Is it the same problem everywhere? Please help!
Opening a new thread with so little information... as your first post?
What speed DO you reach using WiFi, etc... more info would be nice.
Can't load any page at all!! The Wi-fi is enabled and my laptop is connected no problem. Can't connect even through HSPDA or 3G, and if ever it connects, it s just so slowww! My workmates have no problems at all with their Iphones :-(

yes, sure iPhone and 3G
be more specific: yr hi-fi is slowwww, slowww, sloww or just slow!?
look at the post with "the fm radio sucks!". another wise guy...lol
yr setups must be incorrect. nobody complained about this and here everybody likes to complain
yes, i found similar problem on WIFI. Everytime I clear up my Diamond, I need to sync all Outlook mails using pushmail. It's talking about tens MB continous sync-ing. However, WIFI always stuck in the middle, and say "waiting for network".. I don't think it is my internet connection problem. As I also doing this to my old HTC Touch even now, there is no problem. In my Diamond, I need to use GRPS, it is slow but more stable.
I think there is bug in Diamond's WIFI.
I'm having problems too... on my Diamond it takes ages to log onto Windows Live messenger and for the contact list to load up.. about a min... absolutely unacceptable..
Honestly, Wi-Fi has been a breeze. I've set up connections at my dad's place, my mom's place and my girlfriend's place and as soon as I'm in range, it automatically connects and it's rapid-fast as well. It's probably the thing I'm most impressed by, as the DHCP and Wireless LAN functions have been amazingly simple to set up.
My diamond is perfectly working. windows live messenger loads very Fast and WIFI is better than my polaris and kaiser. I can catch the wifi signal on my garden at the back of my house which I can't catch with polaris or kaiser, my latop does not catch the signal too. So for ME DIAMOND IS THE BEST.

Do you have any problems with live messenger dropping out when the device screen shuts off??
Wifi works perfectly fine for me. No drop outs or anything.
I had same problem Using Exchange over wifi sucked
I don't know why, but only the stock roms seemed to support that, I was using mail2web, I got fed up with being unable to sync over wifi, critical while roaming, so I changed to Sherweb after trying 6 roms. Sherweb syncs fine.
I do agree... the Diamond WiFi module is almost like the TyTn2 one: a lot worst than Universal and iPod Touch (I have also them) devices.
I find wi-fi very flakey, it needs a really strong signal to be able to stream youtube without continually caching and that seems to mean being within a couple of meters of the router.
Its a shame because the GPS reception is awsome, I can pick up signals within a few seconds often indoors.

What happens to your wifi when the device goes into stand by, (screen shuts off etc). My WiFi disconnects when the Diamond goes into sleep mode...
Do you guys have the same propblem when the device goes into standby (i.e. when using live/msn messenger)?

Hey, WLM dropping when the screen shuts off, isn't a bug, its a power savign feature because when your screen shuts off it disables the Wi-fi, i don't know if there's a way to keep the wi-fi on when the screen shuts off but that would be useful. another option would be to disable settings-->System-->Power-->Advanced-->"turn off device if not used for"
tho this will kill your battery
Yes- WiFi off with screen off is designed behaviour, and AFAIK cannot be altered.
The WLAN radio uses around 600mA (4X normal power use) so would drain the battery very quickly if left on.
Those of you getting poor performance and dropouts- ensure you have Power Mode in WLAN settings turned to Max performance, otherwise it may struggle to keep a connection to a router. My Diamond has excellent WiFi and no issues with Exchange syncing.
Yea make sure the wifi power mode is set to 'best performance', I was having real problems with a slow connection but this seems to have speed it up somewhat.
point here is..
Wi-Fi sucks on Touch's HTC. period.
a friend of mine has a touch cruise and we have the exactly the same networks and problems side-by-side. it's a well-known htc issue, but what do u can expect more from a ppc ?
i don't use wi-fi. hspda is cheaper and much more battery friendly. gg
I don't know if this has been posted already, but I was struggling trying to find solutions so I thought I would post what worked for me.
After updating to froyo rooted deodexed stock rom, my wifi tether became very unstable. It would say it was connected, but my computer would lose internet access and would only reconnect after I stopped and restarted wireless tether.
The day it started to behave again I did the following:
- Turned "Find My Location" off in Shopsavvy
(this did not make a noticeable difference, but I left it like that anyway, just in case)
- Upgraded wireless tether to 2.0.5-pre8
- Installed Wifinder to make sure I was using a clear channel in wireless tether
(The default channel I was on was clear from what I could tell, but I went ahead and changed it to 1 in the wireless tether settings anyway)
- On my computer, I right clicked on the wireless tether connection, selected properties, connection, and put a checkbox in "connect even if the network is not broadcasting its name (SSID)", then ok.
(I believe I read some people saying that the phone was stopping broadcasting the SSID when the internet was dropping, which is why I did this)
After those changes, I was able to stay connected for hours versus minutes, but after restarting the phone I have been able to stay connected until I disconnect.
The only time it has disconnected without me physically turning off wifi tether since then was a couple of times trying to test my upload speed, but not every time. I think there must be something they are doing to shut down the connection when large or aggressive uploads are detected or something.
I was actually having this same problem on the old Fresh .02 ROM I was using. Thanks for the info I will give what you said a try!
I was having the same problems as well...it seemed like every 10 minutes it would just stop but still said I was connected when clearly I wasn't. I will have to test this tonight when I get home...thanks so much!
Can anyone confirm this works? I'm having major issues with all data connection dropping after a few minutes of being online. What I've noticed is that the 3G indicator in the notification bar will actually disappear momentarily, then reappear, but once it reappears...I'm not able to connect further until I restart the tether app.

I would change your version of wireless tether first. Which one are you using? I am using 7 now, but I believe 8 was best for me.

Using "Wireless Tether for Root Users 2.0.5-pre11" now...haven't tried it with this version however I was using pre9 and that version was causing the 3G problems that I described in my last post.
I had this same issue. When I went into the wireless tether application and changed it to use channel one everything started working perfectly.

I'll try that and report my results...really annoying problem, ya know?
I think the "aggressive download" portion is accurate. I can stay connected for hours with a little web browsing going on; however, start up a torrent or connect to my PS3 and it disconnects in 5-10 minutes. I'll try the SSID broadcast later tonight though and test it under heavy load.

My issue isn't "aggressive downloads" - a PS3 connection doesn't require a lot of bandwidth, just a low latency connection - which is probably the reason you are disconnected. I use my wireless tether for playing online games from my computer. When it is actually working and playing well, its running 8-12 kbit/sec, which is very low bandwidth. It's only when the 3G indicator disappears that my whole connection is lost and I have to restart my game and restart Wireless Tether as well. FWIW my latency while playing is roughly 400-500ms - high, but the game tolerates it.
anyone got weird intermittent wireless issues?
Every now on then, and then seemingly only on some apps, wireless network connectivity will come to a crawl and / or seemingly stop completely. Apps time out etc. but I know the network is fine as my flatmate's galaxy nexus / my laptop remain fine. The most common culprit is the play store. I turn off wireless and go on HSPA, wait a while, go back to wireless, all good.
Also, once I had to kill chrome beta to fix it.
What gives?
I am having some minor wifi issues too, but i think they are slightly different from wintermute's problem.
Both my wifes and my One X won't reconnect to our wifi after returning to the house. The only way I have been able to get them to re-connect is to reboot the router.
The One X's try to reconnect appear to, then instantly disconnect and just keep cycling. Turning the wifi off and on doesn't seem to help.
Our Asus transformer and the laptop don't seem to have any issues if taken out of wifi range and then moved back in.

Hi there's a few forum posts about this. A number of us has had this issue...the One X would not have good WiFi speeds, or would completely stop whereas all other WiFi enabled devices on the same network at the same time would be fine. A reboot of the router seems to fix this for most of us. Doesn't quite make sense why the One X would be affected by a wifi issue but not other devices, but seems to do the trick for most people. Its been 7 days now since I had my One X, and since rebooting the router, the wifi issues have not returned.
I'm a cisco tech in real life and trust me its not my wireless setup... proof is that all other droids work fine (my old nexus, atrix my flatmate's galaxy nexus etc.) unless there is some super esoteric setting that the HTC one requires
having said that I have rebooted my WAP a couple of times (in addition to tweaking my router a bit re: IOS firewall, some tcp-mss tweaks I was using etc.) and it does seem better. Still at a loss to understand why no other device has any issues except for this
I'm seeing wifi drop and reconnect all the time on my One X.
Signal strength isn't an issue, I'm sat 3m from the AP however their are lots of wifi networks in this building so could be an issue with interference...
I don't have any issues with my laptop or old Desire on this wifi..
I see the same issues at the office but again their are lots of wifi networks at that location too...
Tom
Hi there,
I had a problem with my HOX and my German Fritzbox Router...it would connect, but then not letting any data through...and then even disable the whole WiFi signal so that my laptop, ps3 and Samsung Tab did not get a connection anymore...reset of the Fritzbox was necessary....loads of HOX user reported the issue in a German forum, and one suggested to set the WLAN signal from b+g+n 2.4 to only b+g 2.4 and voila....problem has disappeared...price is that connex max at 54 Mbits now...but I can live with that...try it...maybe it solves some people's WiFi issues...until someone or HTC themselves figure out a working solution with a full wireless n support...

I am experiencing the same issues but with the one s, not the WIFI ones the actual network stops all of a sudden and usually within 1 minute comes back.
It happens about once a day.
The only real problem I have is with the WLAN stick which I use on my pc as hotspot. My Phone connects but after a few minutes I have to restart WLAN on phone so it works again. With the router at my parents home (Fritz-Box) I dont have this problem. I use connectify lite on my pc. With the built-in hotspot in windows 7 it just wont work out. Maybe someone else have this kind of issue and knows a solution.
I have the same problem at home and at work.
Disabling WiFi-N on the AP fixes the problem.
At the office we have Netgear WNAP210 and at home I have a Draytec Vigor 2710VDn
Can't quote xda app giving me invalid thread id error, but I have the same exact issue at work, the linksys wag120n router I use as wap, connected to a net gear router, most times when the phone disconnects, and only the hox, it takes down the internet for even those pcs connected directly to the net gear router, strangely I only need to reboot the linksys router to get things working again.... Weird.
I think the hox is doing something, like sending repeated dhcp requests (as in a bug on hox) and taking out the dhcp server. Although of course various routers would behave differently to this. My home network is fine. Not affected ever.

Hello people,
I' ve bought this tablet from amazon one week ago and it is beautiful.
I have a small problem with the wi-fi, but first let me say i have already disable the wi-fi stand-by in settings/Wi-Fi/Advanced.
Well, when my tablet is in stand-by or screen-off (idk the right name for it) for a couple of minutes and i unlock the screen, i receive the message "Connected to network xxxxx", why??
I was wondering this was related with the energy saver option, but the same happends when i leave it off..
This is weird because i can't receive any notification during screen-off, and i need to check manually (unlock the screen) for whatsapp and so on..
The problem isn't only for my tablet, my sister received the SAME model the SAME day for her birthday (lol) but not from amazon, and she ask me the same question..
Is this normal?
Or it's my two wireless network?
Never happened with my GT-P3100 (2-7.0")
I have a TP-LINK AP connected with an ethernet cable to my DGND3700 router/wireless, both with the same SSID and password, only the Wi-Fi channel is different, like any other "multi Wi-Fi" house.
Anyone notice this issue with this tablet?
Thank and bye bye
Sorry for my english
My 310 did this all the time. A temp fix was to turn my router off, have the tab forget the network, power the router back on, then reconnect. Seemed to fix it for a day or so.
Flashing CyanogenMod seems to have fixed it permanently.
WiFi on my T211 is buggy in a similar manner. But I think it might depend on your router; I don't use WiFi much in my apartment (a small apartment where there is always a strong signal) because I usually encounter issues. But when I flew back home for Thanksgiving, I was on WiFi the entire weekend (in a large house) and encountered no problems. Maybe the difference was that the T211 wasn't constantly detecting other nearby Wi-Fi signals.
Thanks, i postpone the problem after i receive another one from amazon because i have found two dead sub-pixel in my tab (green and red).
They are really very small, but i hate when i see they especially with white screen.
Has anyone been having any issues with the WiFi randomly cutting out?

Hopefully this is just a one. time thing.

Hopefully your issue isn't as serious as mine is. I literally just got off the phone with T-Mobile and they will be sending me a replacement phone.

I had this issue with my first G4, but i sent that back due to damaged leather back i have had a couple times with the second one where the wifi acts funky, not a problem but def like wtf moments
No problem with disconnects here.
Mine definitely disconnects and reconnects randomly
My verizon g4 disconnects periodically. Should I be ordering a replacement?
I haven't seen this with my H811 G4.

Only had the phone a day so haven't seen this yet but i did get it randomly with my G3. I could never figure it out. A quick on/off of the Wi-Fi fixed it quickly. Router is Netgear Nighthawk. About 8 other Wi-Fi devices in the house and never seen it on anything else.
I've been seeing this on my H811. It's nothing major but it does cut off then quickly reconnect after several seconds.

Mine also does this on the T-Mobile version.
H810 here. My G4 seems to strongly - and I mean really strongly - favor mobile data. My house is festooned with wifi access points and yet my G4 often turns its wifi radio off and I have to manually turn on wifi, then manually connect to a nearby access point. As I move through the house, rather than connecting to an access point with a better signal, it shuts the wifi radio off, altogether.
The G4 has shut its wifi radio off while I've been in the process of selecting a wifi access point. It's shut its radio off right after I've selected the access point I want and while I'm booting up the web browser.
Today, at work, the G4 is continuing to seemingly randomly shut off its wifi radio. When I manually turn it on, then select the access point, I find the phone has forgotten the password.
Very frustrating.
As an experiment, I have now shut off mobile data, to see if that will coax the G4 to seek and maintain its wifi connection. But there's no way I'm going to spend my day turning off or on mobile data, wifi radio, etc. I'm already manually turning Location on and off, to preserve battery power.
had wifi issues on the 2 g4's i've had. sent first one back due to damage to back cover on arrival. Glad its not just me having wifi issues
Having these issues as well. Rebooting my router sometimes stops it from happening, but quite frustratingly, the phone gets very hot (and discharges quickly) as a result. Have had a hot, dead phone before.
Most of the WIFI routers have different type of connections G / N / B, The N type is not a !00% compatible with our G4, therefore I suggest you to change to B/N, after I change the protocol, I havent see the WIFI issue so far.
I had Wi-Fi disconnects because I had turned on the advanced option to automatically swap to Mobile data on weak Wi-Fi signal. After that was turned off, the Wi-Fi worked as it should.

Where is it said that our phone isn't compatible with N?
From http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_g4-6901.php : WLAN Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, hotspot
I found that disabling ipv6 on wlan0 fixed my slow wifi issue, but still getting the disconnects. (it reconnects automatically though)
http://i.imgur.com/HUDYd71.png - I have a script to disable ipv6 at every wifi connection.
Every instance of SManager is my wifi reconnecting randomly in the house yesterday at my desk.
I have had this issue on my H811 since new. It does it more on 5 Ghz than on 2.4 Ghz, but it still happens. It's more common at home with my Asus router than at work with the Cisco APs they use.
After the latest update I have noticed that the iPod touch I keep in the car disconnects from the hotspot on the phone way too often. This never happened with the previous build, but I also didn't have xposed installed before. Has anyone else noticed any issues with their hotspot?
I got an LG G4 on Friday in the UK and it is running version 10D.
I am encountering this issue and I am finding it extremely annoying - did anyone find a resolution?
It is so frustrating it is getting to the point where the phone will be going back for a refund. It does it at any location with WiFi I go to, so I know it isn't a configuration issue on my WiFi at home.
I'm having this issue too all of a sudden. First thing I noticed was excessive battery drain. But every few minutes it connects to a different ap in my house. Other phones and devices don't do this. Time to dig.
