Hello people,
I' ve bought this tablet from amazon one week ago and it is beautiful.
I have a small problem with the wi-fi, but first let me say i have already disable the wi-fi stand-by in settings/Wi-Fi/Advanced.
Well, when my tablet is in stand-by or screen-off (idk the right name for it) for a couple of minutes and i unlock the screen, i receive the message "Connected to network xxxxx", why??
I was wondering this was related with the energy saver option, but the same happends when i leave it off..
This is weird because i can't receive any notification during screen-off, and i need to check manually (unlock the screen) for whatsapp and so on..
The problem isn't only for my tablet, my sister received the SAME model the SAME day for her birthday (lol) but not from amazon, and she ask me the same question..
Is this normal?
Or it's my two wireless network?
Never happened with my GT-P3100 (2-7.0")
I have a TP-LINK AP connected with an ethernet cable to my DGND3700 router/wireless, both with the same SSID and password, only the Wi-Fi channel is different, like any other "multi Wi-Fi" house.
Anyone notice this issue with this tablet?
Thank and bye bye
Sorry for my english
My 310 did this all the time. A temp fix was to turn my router off, have the tab forget the network, power the router back on, then reconnect. Seemed to fix it for a day or so.
Flashing CyanogenMod seems to have fixed it permanently.
WiFi on my T211 is buggy in a similar manner. But I think it might depend on your router; I don't use WiFi much in my apartment (a small apartment where there is always a strong signal) because I usually encounter issues. But when I flew back home for Thanksgiving, I was on WiFi the entire weekend (in a large house) and encountered no problems. Maybe the difference was that the T211 wasn't constantly detecting other nearby Wi-Fi signals.
Thanks, i postpone the problem after i receive another one from amazon because i have found two dead sub-pixel in my tab (green and red).
They are really very small, but i hate when i see they especially with white screen.

Have had several of the XDA family from the iis, exec,mini/s etc. Just got a nice Orbit from O2 and have spent literally hours attempting to get the damned thing to connect to my wireless router.
Never had an issue with the other XDA's, just enable SSID on the router, switch on the device wifi, when it sees the router, connect and enter the wep key. Hey presto, it works. Not this damned Orbit...
I do all the correct stuff, but what happens is that the key input notification goes, the wifi icon on the top line cycles for a few times and then just goes to the 'mast' icon. If you look at the available networks page, it shows the network as Unavailable!
Click on connect, it goes into a Connecting state, and then goes Unavailable again.
I have tried without any WEP security active (totally open netwok) and it does exactly the same. No setting on the 'performance' screen makes any difference.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? My home network is 802.3b (not g) ... I haven't tried another network yet as I know my router is working fine (my mini/s still connects OK). Is it perhaps a faulty Orbit?
Any suggestions welcomed.
Maybe the problem is that it doesnt have wifi? Or at least the MDA Compact 3 doesnt anyway
The Orbit has G Wi-Fi and it certainly sounds faulty. Have been able to try connecting to any other networks?
WiFi solution
I had exactly that problem and I solved it by changing the channel on the wifi router. Some channels seem outside the Orbits reception range. Change it a few times until you hit the jackpot.
Did you change the energy options (from balanced to high performance)?
Without this setting my wifi doesn´t work at all...

Yep - done that. In fact, I have tried all 11 channels on my router with WEP both on and off. Still no-go.
What occasionally happens is that it will 'see' my wifi SSID (and that of my neighbours), but after a short while both networks go into an Unavailable state on the 'available networks' screen.
I have made a connection TWICE (both with WEP 128bit security, and each time on Ch11) - showing very low signal strength each time. The connection will survive for no more than 30 seconds and then drop out, never to reconnect!
It's doing my damned head in. Never had an issue with any of my previous wifi devices - I can only assume that there is a fault with the wifi radio section... its only 4 days old so will need to get an exchange from O2 then...
It was definitely a faulty Orbit!
Issue resolved.
Got O2 to exchange my Orbit for a new replacement.
WiFi working 100% now, and all as expected. I did nothing different in the setup of the new one - my only conclusion is that it was most definitely faulty.
So, for some use if anyone has the same kind of problem (and bothers to use the search facility), if your WiFi is 'deaf' and cannot see your router or won't stay connected, then suspect a faulty device.
Sigh - updated to O2's WM6 rom and now the damned wifi is stuffed again.
Anyone got any suggestions? This thing is driving me nuts. Is there an updated radio firmware that fixes the poor wifi or is it a hardware issue?
I had this little snag (OR BIG ONE) when Purchasing a Belkin 54g Wireless Router, slightly different scenario since you're Router hasnt changed, What I proceeded to do was delete all the detected wifi network even my own and try wifi enumeration again, This solved the particular problem that I had,
whew!
My heart almost stopped when I read trap's 'faulty hardware' post!
I have EXACTLY the same problem... and EXACTLY the same hardware (belkin54g, wm6 on an O2 Exec).
The router was a freebee, so I am going to just go grab a old Trendnet and give it a go.
...keep you posted... but I think a re-flash is probably going to have to happen. Anyone know any stable wm6 roms?
No luck. The Trend does the same thing.....
Hunting around on the forums here I found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=251969
Sounds like we have an wm6 that is incompatible to with 'g' s
I am having the same issue - what was once working is now not. I have a Belkin Wireless router, which my XDA has had no issues talking with ... however now, I just get 'Unavailable' on the XDA when I try and connect! Madness!
OK - after days of pulling my hair out, it has suddenly started working. To be fair I think that it has little to do with the XDA and more to do with the Belkin Router. I changed numerous things and suddenly it started working again, sorry I cannot offer any more help!
Hi, I got the HTC desire during the week and all going great so far except issues with connecting to my Wi-fi at home.
On initial setup i had it scan for my wireless signal but had to manually enter it, network is not hidden. 3 laptops, PS3, PSP, DS all have been able to see it and connect in the past. Anyway, connected through WPA and was able to connect to the internet and market fine.
The issue is it keeps dropping the connection, signal bar stays as if connected but all pages timeout. turning the wireless on/off does not resolve, sometimes turning the power on/off will sort it, most times not. I drove to work last night, 25km and it said i was still connected to a network untill i disabled the wireless on the phone in the carpark !!
I have trawled the net and have come across known issues with other HTC devices and wireless networks but most of the fixes i tried have drawn a blank so far, bar hard reset.
Unsure if it is settings in my router or the phone. One thing i did notice is when it was connected and i went to the settings>wireless and networks it was smooth like the usual progs on the phone, but when i cant connect and go to the settings it is serious laggy.
BB is Eircom, netopia router.
Phone is Vodafone.
Any other info needed just ask, could do with a fix for this before i pull my hair out.
edit: downloaded a wifi analyzer app and it says my signal is very weak, even sitting on the router, it is either the router sending the wrong signal or the hardware on the phone i think.
Anyone have to chage their wireless settings on the router to get the desire to connect ? If so, to what ?
Update.
powered off my phone and ran the wifi analyser again, same thing, -98db.(red, no signal)
powered off the phone again, and was hitting -40db sitting on top of the router and ~ -70 2 rooms away(green/yellow) and internet pages were flying, this is what is happening, may stay for 10 mins and go again.
Another update:
I had a good connection so changed the sleep from 1 min to 30, checked the sig strenght every 15 mins, surfed a few pages and all fine. Changed the sleep back to 1 min, let it sleep, came back 5 mins later and wifi dead again. this leads me to taking the router out of the equation and phone based issue.
Wifi issues
Hiya,
I had exactly the same problem with my desire. It is on Orange UK and came withall their crud on it. I spent two days playing around with the router settings and phone settings. I could connect to the router but not use the internet. In the end I followed the links on here to erase the orange crud and install a generic rom. After that the phone connected to wifi internet and telephone internet and switches between them without any problems whatsoever. I did wonder if it was a ploy by the telecom provider to get you to use more of their online data rather than over wifi.

Dear friends,
My Defy seems to be dropping wireless from time to time. Here's the whole story:
It's a green lens Defy running PAYS v6.0. What I've noticed in the last few weeks is that Skype calls drop sometimes (when the screen is off) followed by a relogin to skype (usually takes like a minute or so to relogin). Then I also noticed that when I turn on the screen the wireless sign disappears and reappears like it would be reconnecting.
Other 2 phones and 2 computers have no problems connecting to my router, even skype. Skype works fine on my Defy's mobile connection.
I've had Juice Defender installed but I've disabled anything related to wireless and then froze it. Wi-Fi sleep policy is put to never. Other programs that I have and might have anything to do with wireless/data connection: 3G watchdog, 3G mobile hotspot, widgesoid.
It looks like it's something about the wireless, but I cannot understand what. The only thing I could do is try another wireless network at my parent's or something...
Thanks in advance!
PS: I keep on mentioning skype because it needs constant data flow.
Later edit: Might, by any reason, have anything to do with the fact that I'm using a French release instead of a CEE one (like I "should")?
My Note II is not automatically connecting to my home network. Instead, it just tells me there is a network available and I have to manually connect it through the notification. On my Infuse, after first connection there was an option to have it auto connect every time after that, but the Note II apparently does not have an option to turn it on and off. I'm guessing it's just supposed to do it automatically no matter what? I've hit forget and re-entered the password in hopes that would help, but I still the same problem.
This is on a stock phone, btw.
Maybe it's a problem with the router. Try resetting it also.

WiFi not auto-connecting (side-question: why would you NOT want to auto-connect?)
This is a huge problem for me as well, both at home and at work. It should be noted that my other devices (mostly iOS) don't have this issue so I'm not entirely convinced it's an issue at the router. If it IS an issue at the router what might it be? Maybe switching to a different channel would help? I'll certainly give it a shot.
I'm about to have a new router at home and will report back if that makes any difference.
(On a side note --> Strangely some of my searches have led to people asking about the opposite - I might be missing something but why would you WANT your WiFi NOT to connect or turn on? With a good connection available, shouldn't everyone want to connect? Saves battery and 4G data. I'm sincerely curious so if you know please do respond to this question as well. Maybe it has to do with privacy or battery life given an unstable connection or something.)
I got the same problem.
It started when I changed the wifi router (from Fritz!box to PKN Experia V8)
Now many times the device does not connect, but uses cell phone connection (meaning it uses the resources I pay for instead of my 'free' home wifi)
So, anyone who knows the solution, please tell me. I can only use Tasker to try to reconnect automatically, but it should not be needed!
Has anyone been having any issues with the WiFi randomly cutting out?
Sent from my SHIELD Tablet using XDA Free mobile app
Mine did it twice today, whereas my G2 would know to reconnect upon scan...
Hopefully this is just a one. time thing.

Hopefully your issue isn't as serious as mine is. I literally just got off the phone with T-Mobile and they will be sending me a replacement phone.

I had this issue with my first G4, but i sent that back due to damaged leather back i have had a couple times with the second one where the wifi acts funky, not a problem but def like wtf moments
No problem with disconnects here.
Mine definitely disconnects and reconnects randomly
My verizon g4 disconnects periodically. Should I be ordering a replacement?
I haven't seen this with my H811 G4.

Only had the phone a day so haven't seen this yet but i did get it randomly with my G3. I could never figure it out. A quick on/off of the Wi-Fi fixed it quickly. Router is Netgear Nighthawk. About 8 other Wi-Fi devices in the house and never seen it on anything else.
I've been seeing this on my H811. It's nothing major but it does cut off then quickly reconnect after several seconds.

Mine also does this on the T-Mobile version.
H810 here. My G4 seems to strongly - and I mean really strongly - favor mobile data. My house is festooned with wifi access points and yet my G4 often turns its wifi radio off and I have to manually turn on wifi, then manually connect to a nearby access point. As I move through the house, rather than connecting to an access point with a better signal, it shuts the wifi radio off, altogether.
The G4 has shut its wifi radio off while I've been in the process of selecting a wifi access point. It's shut its radio off right after I've selected the access point I want and while I'm booting up the web browser.
Today, at work, the G4 is continuing to seemingly randomly shut off its wifi radio. When I manually turn it on, then select the access point, I find the phone has forgotten the password.
Very frustrating.
As an experiment, I have now shut off mobile data, to see if that will coax the G4 to seek and maintain its wifi connection. But there's no way I'm going to spend my day turning off or on mobile data, wifi radio, etc. I'm already manually turning Location on and off, to preserve battery power.
had wifi issues on the 2 g4's i've had. sent first one back due to damage to back cover on arrival. Glad its not just me having wifi issues
Having these issues as well. Rebooting my router sometimes stops it from happening, but quite frustratingly, the phone gets very hot (and discharges quickly) as a result. Have had a hot, dead phone before.
Most of the WIFI routers have different type of connections G / N / B, The N type is not a !00% compatible with our G4, therefore I suggest you to change to B/N, after I change the protocol, I havent see the WIFI issue so far.
I had Wi-Fi disconnects because I had turned on the advanced option to automatically swap to Mobile data on weak Wi-Fi signal. After that was turned off, the Wi-Fi worked as it should.

Where is it said that our phone isn't compatible with N?
From http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_g4-6901.php : WLAN Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, hotspot
I found that disabling ipv6 on wlan0 fixed my slow wifi issue, but still getting the disconnects. (it reconnects automatically though)
http://i.imgur.com/HUDYd71.png - I have a script to disable ipv6 at every wifi connection.
Every instance of SManager is my wifi reconnecting randomly in the house yesterday at my desk.
I have had this issue on my H811 since new. It does it more on 5 Ghz than on 2.4 Ghz, but it still happens. It's more common at home with my Asus router than at work with the Cisco APs they use.
After the latest update I have noticed that the iPod touch I keep in the car disconnects from the hotspot on the phone way too often. This never happened with the previous build, but I also didn't have xposed installed before. Has anyone else noticed any issues with their hotspot?
I got an LG G4 on Friday in the UK and it is running version 10D.
I am encountering this issue and I am finding it extremely annoying - did anyone find a resolution?
It is so frustrating it is getting to the point where the phone will be going back for a refund. It does it at any location with WiFi I go to, so I know it isn't a configuration issue on my WiFi at home.
I'm having this issue too all of a sudden. First thing I noticed was excessive battery drain. But every few minutes it connects to a different ap in my house. Other phones and devices don't do this. Time to dig.
