Can anyone point me to, or provide me, a list of ROMs that support Optical Trackpad wake for the Incredible? I had a Trackball Wake option on my Eris, and I really miss that on the Inc.
I flashed Cyanogen Mod last December before my first Dinc broke and I believe it did. But it doesn't have sense fyi

I have only tried a few roms, but If im not mistaking you can just flash the /usr files over any droid inc rom and it should enable the trackpad wake and unlock.
I pulled the usr folder from rewind 3d rom (which has trackpad wake and unlock) and made an update.zip. Go ahead and just place in the root of your sd and flash.
Let me know if it worked out for you?

Newt's Hybrid Sense 3.0 Rom has it
Sky Raider 4.X does, running 4.3 now.

Your flash won't work for Froyo. GB mods won't work on Froyo and vica versa.
Im really interested in this but i rather stay with my unofficial ota froyo so if there is any other way please let me know.

use skyraider 4.2-4.3
All of Chingy's ROMs have it built in. As far as I know, it's kinda hit and miss whether it works or not. Every ROM I ever tried with it sometimes worked the first push, sometimes the 10th push.

Hey,
All im wondering is what http://unrevoked.com/ is?? i know it says easy root but what exactly does it do??
Thanks
it flashes the clockworkmod recovery into your phone and that way you don't need a pc or the shortcuts we were using so far to enter a recovery that enables us to flash new roms etc...and i think this way you can backup your ext partition on sdcard (haven't tried it yet)
Isn't it for the Evo and Sprint Hero only anyway?
Regards,
Dave
No if you head over to the www.unrevoked.com/recovery it says its also for the desire ... Has anyone tried this on the desire??
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709146
apparently lots of people have
Basically, once you root your handset and you want to try out a new rom you used to have to connect your phone to a pc and push the recovery files to be able to do anything.
Then cloclworkmod recovery was written that allowed the recovery files to be stored and started from the SD card, therefore removing the dependancy on a pc to push the files.
Now this new one, unrevoked, flashes the recovery files directly to the recovery section on your phone. No need for a PC and no dependancy on the files being on the SD card. So now, once you flash this, you simply reboot your phone with the volume button held down. Wait a few seconds then scroll ro 'recovery' with the volume button, then press the power button. This takes you directly to recovery menu that allows you to backup your current rom, flash new roms, wipe your cache etc.
So it doesnt root my phone for me??

Lol I was the same, and I did brick my first one. The infamous usb brick. BUT, and it's a big but... That is no longer a problem with the new methods. Even if you did somehow manage to brick it, it can be fixed!
If you read the guides and follow them you will have a nicely rooted phone and any number of custom roms at your disposal. I don't think I could live with a stock desire now
whats the best guide to use?? and whats the difference between stock and rooted rom??
Thanks
The guide on modaco is probably the most recent one to use. it's called risk free root or something.
The difference between stock and rooted is quite big. Stock is just that, what HTC decides to give you. Once you root you can put on any desire rom available in the dev section here. They include experimental roms for froyo, loads of 2.1 roms. 2.1 is what you are on now. The 2.1 roms are tweaked to give better battery life, nicer looks, more features etc. Also on a rooted rom you can use apps like titanium backup which will backup all your apps and their info. Market enabler is an app that allows you to buy apps if you are in a country not yet supported by the market. Setcpu can be used to overclock the processor. Any new updated roms that HTC release will usually be tweaked and availaible to you well before the official release.
These are only a few advantages to using a rooted rom. Have a wee look in the development forum for the desire and see what is available.
I have S-OFF tried running unrevoked 3 again to reflash recovery but no luck. Anyone have a resolution for this?
Details? When you say "can't", does the optical button do nothing, or does it not do what you'd expect? Did earlier recoveries work?

The optical button does nothing and earlier recoveries worked fine.
Okay, three possible approaches:
1. Redownload and try again (in case of corrupt download).
2. Make doubly sure you flashed the version for the inc.
3. Flash back to 2.5.0.4. There really aren't any major improvements in 2.5.0.5.
Uh you can use the volume rocker and power key....did you try that?

what exactly do you do to make this work? I reverted back to 2.4 and it still won't work properly.
Maybe a dumb question, but does the optical track pad work in other apps? I.e. If you're keying a text message can you use the track pad to move around?

I hear that this exists for other Android phones, but is there a version available for Android 2.2 that works on the Droid Incredible? In my case, with SkyRaider 3.2 Sense. This update adds other options to the power down menu like reboot and recovery, etc.
I haven't found a link for the DI (if it exists). Anyone?
UPDATE: Here is a link for the Desire...but not for the DI.
This worked for me... Stock DEODEXED 2.2, will work on skyraider and should work on virtuous but idk

Just wanted to let everyone know that Rom Manager now has clockworkmod 3.0.0.5 for CM7 to be flashed thru rom manager now along with the older versions for android 2.2. So no more flashing via fastboot or terminal, all our flashing and rom jumping can be done much easier all thru Rom Manager. Thanks ClockWork!

3.0.0.5 allows you to flash gingerbread based ROMs, basically CM7. According to @cmsrc on twitter today however, there may not be a need to switch through 2.5.1.2 and 3.0.0.5 soon. No time frame on that though yet I don't believe.
Anyone know if they fixed the charging while off issue that cwm has?

This is big in two ways
first of all
Previously we were not able to create a Nandroid backup. A nandroid backup is a snap shot of our OS in it's current state. So if we flash something new, a font, a boot image, what have you we are putting 100% of our faith in that flash that it will not screw anything else up. Because if it does we have to start at ground 0 again.
second of all
the developer of CWRM said that he would make the 3.x flash-able via the ROM manager when the CM7 build approached an RC status. So that isn't to far off.
So now am I gonna be able to update my rom(cm7) with rom manager automatically.

if you had been reading up on rooting and really doing your research then you should have learned that you never accept an update right when it comes out because you lose the ability to root until a fix is found (and it often takes some time).

Here's what I came up with. Still may do a video. Hope it makes sense, it was very early/late when I wrote this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458491
Slightly off this topic, but along the same lines, so I didn't want to start another thread.
I rooted back in November, prior to the latest OTA update - and had a pretty good understanding of what I was doing - I think.. heh
I NEVER flashed a new ROM, Kernel, Radio, etc. Only backedup, rooted, removed some bloatware, and that's it.
I still have superuser su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip (I think?) in my root folder of my SD Card. Nothing else.
I backed up my Nandroid to my computer, as well as all the TitaniumPro backups of bloatware.
I saw Brad560's two posts - both Barebones and Stock ROM's.
In the Stock post, he listed Deodex'ed, Odexed, and Original UnRooted ROM. This confused me, as I'm still trying to wrap my head around the flashing part. Then I saw a reply about Radios?
I think at this point, I definitely want to remain rooted, but would like the "official" release from HTC/Sprint (in root form, stable, as close to the original as possible, for now).
Which ROM should I grab?
Will I need to flash a new kernel? I don't have any desire to overclock or anything.
And will I need to update the Radios separately?
Thanks, sincerely appreciate any help.
Just read in brads thread and all your answers will be there.

Thanks for replying.
I have read it. That's the first time I had heard of those things, which is why I asked here.
I think some folks forget what's it like to learn this stuff.. and while many here have been around for awhile and have absorbed over time, there are people like me (a military pilot btw lol) who has a tough time grasping some of the verbiage. I had the rooting thing down. Flashing a ROM seemed easy enough, though hadn't done it. Then someone throws up 3 versions in that post and 2 in the other. I get his barebones stuff - for the most part - he stripped stuff out.
Anyway, I suppose I will take the plunge and pick one of the ROMs, then suppose flash the latest radios.
Thanks!

For the time being, only way to "root"/unlock is via HTCDEV method which requires you be connected to your computer via USB sync cable.
